The usecase is a rich person being driven around to airports or meetings. A regular SUV has way to little room in the back. Most premium Shuttle services use Vitos or similar Van like cars, because they are the most spacious and enable the people to travel and work with multiple people in the back.
The pretentious newly rich, especially those within the Middle East and China will love it. They will buy anything that is expensive, regardless of how hideous it looks.

I wonder what ownership of something like this will look like in 10-15 years, when the battery is at the end of its serviceable life, and (presumably) most of the "connected" services are discontinued or defunct. Will you even be able to get a replacement battery then, and would it be worth it considering quickly these things depreciate?
10-15 years? You are being optimistic. Service life is biggest lie about batteries these days. They tell you at 80% battery health it is time to service. Well they might as well set the 80% battery health to 0% then, no? Indeed it is around 80% battery health, when these batteries become unreliable to the tune that they keep cutting out while still showing a charge.
@@mrtopcat2 The EQS has a 10-year/155,000-mile warranty on the battery. I'm assuming the Maybach will get driven less than a regular EQS... thus my reasoning for "10-15" years.
Personally I would get rid of all the 3 star MB logos including the hood ornament and replace it all by the Maybach logo and hood ornament and maybe also tone down the trademark cheezy chrome finishes to maybe offer a carbon fiber trim finish which would make more sense on what is afterall an SUV.
The more I think about it the more I believe the whole current generation of MB designs are unremarkable leaning towards ugly. Comparing current gen S class, Coupe, up to the supercars its obvious the last gen is superior in design and overall impact. I am now thinking of canceling my order for an S63 sedan and get a low milage S63 cabrio and order a basic spec V8 Flying Spur.

600 km range??? i dont think so, if you drive this with 4 passengers, heating or air con on and all other bits going on in the back ground i think the range would be close to 200 miles at a strecth if you put your foot down and doing 100 mph or so on the motorway

I can’t decide if it looks like a tumor on wheels or if it is simply a two-toned hearse. Nonetheless, more on substance and less on BS as the fragrance and foreboding sound effects won’t get you through a snow drift.

A bit too many fussy details like the maybach logos on the front then you have them on the puddle lights (which I quite like) , EQS badges at side. Looks quite nice to sit in the rear of this as long as that ambient lighting can be turned off or dimmed at least..
