And i love being proven wrong over and over again in this matter. :D Since then there were several things that made me become really positive of this. Now i want them to be really stupid about it. Put any silly idea in it. 2) The impression that i get is that not a lot of resources went into this, meaning that it is not a huge risk and they can really just do what they think is fun. I know the people who always complain about "reusing assets" will have a field day with this game, but i like that. It's low risk and they can just play around, experiment without caring too much about making record sales and learn new things. Even if this game is not for me (at the moment i don't see myself playing this game for more than 20-30 hours or so) i am sure it will be a huge learning experience for the studio. While watching the trailer i barely felt any excitement to be honest. Just a lot of confusion. I'm glad that this has changed now. I can't wait for the network test and the game in general. And if i don't like it i'm excited what some of the other directors have been working on. Please look forward to it.
Yeah nobody should be going into this with a craving for lore in any way. It's complete fan service with a new mixed genre of gaming that we've never seen before (and could potentially work really well with other big game titles in the future). It's not going to hit with everyone but it gives us something while we wait for their next project. Risk of Rain 2 is one the of the greatest indie games of the past decade and to see the Risk of Rain genre mixed with souls is a dream for me if it's done correctly.
That is likely true for some gameplay adjustments (for example archery), but it remains true that the director is passionate about the project and wanted to make a game structured like this. With the emphasis on speed, survival, teamwork, strategy etc. Still likely they learn from it moving forward. As they usually do.
Do as you please for this project. I like that Myazaki endorses creativity anong is staff. Armored core feels like honage to the original gundam games. Cant wait for whats next
Thank you for taking the time to read the interviews before passing judgement. You gave a very balanced and fair perspective, that fully takes in the context surrounding the game. Also, I'm pretty sure legacy bosses will begetting new move sets. An interview with IGN mention that the Centipede Demon can split off parts of itself, while it only did that in DS1 if you hit it in the right locations.
I’m pretty hyped for this game cause I love souls coop and it’s hard to get friends not to rush ahead by them selves or to just find a friend at a similar point in the game as you so you can both explore together
i’m immediately giving this video a like before even finishing it. i very much appreciate how you speak slower so i can actually easily process the things you say without having to rewind over and over. almost every other explanation video/youtube channel i come across does not understand this simple thing and it bothers me so much, i just immediately skip their videos and tell yt not to show me any more of their stuff atp lmao. the slow down feature doesn’t help because if they talk fast, that also means they are not enunciating their words, which means it’s still hard or impossible to decipher what these explanation youtubers are trying to say in their videos, because they aren’t speaking clearly and it shows in any speed. so thank you so so much for not being like that. i can actually clearly understand your words because you speak clearly, and i can process your points because you speak slow enough. please keep up the good work 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Im sorry but everyone should be pissed. This new director screwed the DLC so he could work on this dumb bullshit thats not even connected to the basegame. The enshittification of Fromsoft has begun... Just wait, I give it 2 years maximum before we hear Miyazaki is "stepping away to pursue other ventures"... or similar...
I'm excited to see what aspects from other games they bring in, seeing the stake driver like crossbow attack makes me curious about what other trick weapon inspired weapons could be introduced
Genuinely, my only real gripe, the one problem I have with this is it's lack of crossplay, why would you make a game that focuses so heavily on co-op, and not let us all collaborate together across platforms to play it? Two of my friends are on playstation, they will have to find another third to play coop with than me {because co-op REQUIRES 3 players for some reason), and I will be stuck alone on PC, and that kills so much hype for the game to me.. Just, why?
I'm probably wrong in my assumption, but I see this title a game like risk of rain 2. You kill mobs, fight a boss get upgrades and moves to the next area. It's really fun (for RoR2) and I really think it can work for a soulsgame!
Thank you for giving Junya Ishizaki acknowledgment other than "new director". He's been with us. It's gonna be great. Also, I feel you on the heretical lore aspect of bringing in old bosses... but A. it'll just be fuuuuuun! I can't wait to jump in Gundyr's face! "What now?!" B. I am all for the unified worlds theory or wtvr I adhere to that anyway in my head-canon. MARIKA IS VELKA!!!! and C. I think miyazaki is happy if not relieved to remind us we are playing games, not forming a new religion lmao! 😅
My take on it is that the game will be a big beta test for concepts and mechanics they plan to introduce in their next big game and being co-op, it will serve as a great tool to experiment with the netcode. One person who certainly thinks it will do more than well, is the CEO of Larian who implied in his game awards speech that it may even be next year's goty even if he didn't use the name.
This looks so fucking awesome. Monster Hunter - Hell Divers - with multiplayer focus. You can see the enemies bouncing between getting hit by each player. With roguelike dungeon delving. I am so in.
I NEED clarification on how boss encounters work. If I die is that it? Do I not get retries? If I die how long does it take me to get back to the boss? I don't wanna spend 15 minutes getting back to a boss. I wanna learn the movements of the boss.
I was always under the impression from the lore that all the worlds are interconnected, sol this isn't that far of a stretch. I had reservations upon seeing the trailer, but FS still has my confidence in them, they have not steered me wrong before, so I am always willing to give them the benefit. Tbh, it looks like a lot of fun and more coop with my friends is always appreciated. I also like that they are playing with the combat mechanics, I think they are testing the waters.
I’m excited to see what changes they made to legacy bosses moved. It’s gonna be so cool if they give them new moves or something what would tie into the reason they are there.
As peps who have been playing the old AC games before playing ACVI, we do wonder if the Codex will be similar to the Lore System they had in Last Raven (In Last Raven, there is a secrion of "character customisation" that is dedicated to the story and lore of the characters and it honesty includes everything you could possibly want to dive deep into the world and factions)
Well one thing is for sure, this is targeted to Elden Ring players that wanted coop without invasions. One thing is for sure that if they make that a selling point and tons of people buy it then they decide to slide in an invasion system, I'm sure a class action lawsuit will be formed.
I don’t blame you. I’m hoping the CNT makes a stronger case for it than this initial information. Even then, I think how a player feels about roguelikes and/or co-op is going to have a big impact on how appealing this concept is.
The only thing I dislike is that some people are saying there’s no Customization some People are saying there is some People say you can’t change weapons or Armor and some People are saying you can but I hope customization is a thing In the game
I wanna see them have like super rare enemy encounters. LIke some type of mythical beast that is some kind of rare spawn, make it real difficult but maybe have greast rawrads if the team takes it down
Apparently there might be stuff like that, nameless king is a randomly spawning boss and I imagine he’ll be pretty difficult. Also there’s Margit who will be actively hunting you during ur fights as an invader who will drop good loot if you kill him. I assume theres other strong invaders as well. And the old bosses will have modified movesets in a lot of cases so I wonder which ones will be harder. The dark souls 1 and 2 ones will fs be harder. I really do hope we get more new enemies though besides just the new big bosses at the end of the three nights. Maybe in updates we will.
@@godly_potatoe69xd19 Im super excited, I love the idea of a beastiary having empty spots for ages only to randomly find that rare enemy encounter! Just fingers crossed they mix up the returning enemy movesets to catch us veterans off guard~

I dont even mind if its not my game. I do like studios doing something new. We had many fromsoftwere games that while all being really good felt similar to each other and i think it would be nice for from software to do new style of games. Nightrighen is interesting and i do hope that im the future they still make soulsborne games but also new different games
At first I wasn't sold after I heard it was rogue like but it grew onto me and I'm still gonna play it. It's Elden Ring and they're at least trying something new. I'm just not a big fan of the old souls' bosses. I prefer something refreshing, original, and unique.
I'm still not completely sold but i will keep an eye on it, Fromsoft has the people to make this work . I would be a lot less interested if it was from another studio.
True if it were anyone else I would think it was a cash grab, I mean a battle royale exquisite monster with roguelike elements would be a red flag. But From have never given a crap about chasing trend or maximizing profit or what you have you and regardless of whether you personally like them everything they make has always been made to be enjoyable as it’s main focus. Something that is increasingly unusual, so I’m willing to just wait and find out.
I don’t think it’s a cash grab either. Fromsoft has been releasing a game every 2-4 years for the past 15+ years. This lets them keep that same momentum while creating something new. I don’t play many multiplayer games, but I can see Nightreign changing that and I’m all for it!
Me personally i prefer the tru dark souls style of games but this is unique and interesting it combines souls gameplay with a boss rush/ survival game it looks like a fun time if u like co op i play solo always but ima try this
Seriously, I think from software is the only game developer who tried to risk to do other thing in the entire video game industry, but I like that idea and I will buy day one the game and they will play the game but even my brother don’t play the game. We’ll buy the game because he have some nostalgia from software and will give the support for from software.
Amazing how a lot of us were so gun shy given how this looks like it could be live service, only for that to flip the other way once we realized it's a AA priced full game that won't make the XDefiant mistake? Say less, I have been wanting a fromsoft rough-lite. Especially if this works out really well, we could end up with a larger version in other settings, imagine this concept with Bloodborne or Sekiro style world!
Hunter, I'm glad I watched this video. You've actually sold me on Nightreign. It feels like just good clean Fromsoft fun. I have no doubt I'll be playing. Might even try the cardigan password and hope to run into you and take down the Night Lord!
I understand why people are worried studios nowadays start off good and then turn and fall off a complete cliff in terms of quality, but not every studio produces slop. There has to be a top company somewhere and that's probably gonna be from soft. What would've worried me is let's say if Miyazaki himself or shizaki left the company before or during the completion of this spin off and it's some new Rando's making the game then I would be worried. I trust a little passion project from one of the senior Devs over anthything western publishers and studios push out
So long as we continue to get our high-end singleplayer experiences with clear artistic vision, I don't mind if FromSoftware wants to explore other game genres focused on gameplay improvements and resource development in side projects
Mortal shells have rogue like mode and its awesome, its best thing about mortal shells and after I played it I always thought why fromsoft games dont have it and they will
😂 I’m glad they’re making it non-canon. In that scenario I think it might still be fun to learn about the characters and I don’t have to try and rationalize any of the (fun) nonsense.
The only thing I’m a little disappointed about is that I’ve been saying for years now that a Hunt: Showdown type Souls PvP title would TOTALLY work. Idk why From decided to leave PvP out of Nightreign, PvP imo is the best thing about Souls that is still far from perfection and it’s been wonky because the game has been balanced around PvE first and PvP balancing has always been a second thought. If they made a game the other way around and continued support for it From would be drowning in money.
Agree with everything except the cautious optimism. The game just looks bad. That would be fine if they weren't owned by sony I would just wait for the next game but since they are fromsoft is basically dead to me.
@@LoreHunter ok mb: Sony is the now the largest shareholder of kadokawa and therefore fromsoft is basically dead to me. It would be great to be proven wrong.
6:30 i do agree but i still think elden ring is he pinnacle of combat of souls games and pretty close to sekiro once you get it, its far above bb in combat for me. alot of rigid souls vets played the game like its ds3 and rightfully got their ass handed to them, kinda like the ppl that played bb like its ds1 and got destroyed. but souls vets fragile egoes kinda dont allow them to admit that the fault is mostly theirs for playing the game wrong.
I'll never forget the "Wolfblood Howling In My Veins" battle OST from that Devil May Cry spinoff about the werewolves, the lyrics were hype and relatable to the whole "two doges inside me" thought experiment meme. classic
Considering how consistently they release spinoffs of Armored Core games, I was shocked that this was an ER game instead of an AC game. But OK, sure, give me a pile bunker in Elden Ring then. Why not? 😅
Miyazaki lied about no new Elden Ring content and then we get this asset flip vomit. They will kill ER for this slop and "wider audience". Right on time with the Sony buying them out I gess.
@nikmullin7798 You don't understand games then Vials? You can buy 600 vials very easy I think you don't play bloodborne or souls games Play chalices on cursed versions and see the fun of difficulty
Thats not really how people use the word "live service" you can run CS, LoL, and WoW on Lan... they are still live services. Also, Fromsoft doesn't have or use servers, which are kind of important for a live service.
The amount of people hating on Nightreign is crazy. Why not just give it a chance before jumping to conclusions? So many entitled and miserable people out here now.
I'm going to most likely pass on this one. I don't particularly like roguelikes, and while the inclusion of bosses from the DS series is intriguing and certainly triggers nostalgia, I don't want to tarnish the great memories I have of these amazing bosses by fighting them again, out of context, with summons. Yes, the game will be playable solo presumably, but it's clearly made for co-op , and I doubt it will be well balanced for solo players. For example, your summons can revive you in co-op - who revives you playing solo.
Why would they need to make a cash grab game is my thought process behind this. Making genuinely good games back to back makes the most money possible because it is actually something people want to buy and it earns trust and respect from the consumer. Making a title under their traditional style and melding it with a more traditional co-op multiplayer experience in comparison to their summon a companion system to make you actually feel like a band of warriors instead of just a warrior summoning another to help you fight a boss cause you suck
In regards to the dark souls bosses in the world I have noticed a bunch of hints that dark souls and elden ring might be in somewhat of a shared universe.
There needs to be a lot and i mean A LOT of old bosses ported over, obviously they would all need work to make them more dangerous but if they expect 1 to 3 players they should be throwing some fucking... classics pur way okay ik talking Capra/dogs gank, Skeleton Lords, O&S, Dark Lurker, Demon Princes, like so many choices from their catalog that could work really well, fuck bring the hrave robbers from sunken city idgaf just make it plentiful and funny
just give us a proper chat , i dont get how they are so hard headed with their archaic stupid system, when this is a coop online game, can't even ask for help
I think most people might be missing the meaning of the title. Ranni's ending is cannon or at the very least, the godless, unified world she imagined was once real. Not sure if this game is pre or post the events of elden ring
6:27 - 6:36 True of combat fundamentals, but far from true when it comes to replayability, coop play, and itemization. They are quite literally decades behind on these areas.
Do you like Souls games? Did you always wish for a sequel to Sekiro? Were you someone who actually thought Dissidia was an enjoyable and clever idea by Square Enix? If you answered yes to all of those questions, Elden Ring Nightreign is probably gonna be a great time for you.

No live service I believe. Just $40 flat
Not an instant buy for me, but I’ll definitely be getting it if it turns out to be as good as we hope
Yea that’s why I’m playing the network test
I'm scared that I can't have 1 friend and a rando at least
It’s a gameplay upgrade stepping stone for their next flagship
That is likely true for some gameplay adjustments (for example archery), but it remains true that the director is passionate about the project and wanted to make a game structured like this. With the emphasis on speed, survival, teamwork, strategy etc.
Still likely they learn from it moving forward. As they usually do.
This is literally an experiment for future IPs.
Cmon now. Its new fromsoft content. Its impossible to disappoint. This studio has that Midas touch.
I will always be cautious
i’m immediately giving this video a like before even finishing it. i very much appreciate how you speak slower so i can actually easily process the things you say without having to rewind over and over. almost every other explanation video/youtube channel i come across does not understand this simple thing and it bothers me so much, i just immediately skip their videos and tell yt not to show me any more of their stuff atp lmao.
the slow down feature doesn’t help because if they talk fast, that also means they are not enunciating their words, which means it’s still hard or impossible to decipher what these explanation youtubers are trying to say in their videos, because they aren’t speaking clearly and it shows in any speed. so thank you so so much for not being like that. i can actually clearly understand your words because you speak clearly, and i can process your points because you speak slow enough. please keep up the good work 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Needs an option for 2 players
We're using the seamless coop mod currently for a 3man play through ready for nightreign coming and it's so much better with friends
To me, this feels like a “greatest hits” love letter to fans. In very happy.
This wolf be another masterpiece. Amazing boss fights, quick, a new story with remnant 2, blood borne, sekiro, survival and new mechanics mashed into one…. Sign me up
I'm really excited for this. I got a bit burned out with souls like, but this got me excited again.
Holy.. I thought the title was "I was sold" and got worried until I read it again xD
this new dynamic with nightreign makes me think of majora's mask as a "sequel" to ocarina of time. it's a neat lil parallel to consider
Just, why?
Totally agree. The implementation of the co-op could really use an overhaul for the type of game this is.
Also, I feel you on the heretical lore aspect of bringing in old bosses... but
A. it'll just be fuuuuuun! I can't wait to jump in Gundyr's face! "What now?!"
I am so in.
ngl i think the nightreign is like their beta tester they probably try new mechanics for their next games
I NEED clarification on how boss encounters work. If I die is that it? Do I not get retries? If I die how long does it take me to get back to the boss? I don't wanna spend 15 minutes getting back to a boss. I wanna learn the movements of the boss.
Okay so now it's a rogue like in a battle royale format?
Risk of rain combined with monster hunter with the enclosing ring and landing from the sky of a battle royale.
As peps who have been playing the old AC games before playing ACVI, we do wonder if the Codex will be similar to the Lore System they had in Last Raven
(In Last Raven, there is a secrion of "character customisation" that is dedicated to the story and lore of the characters and it honesty includes everything you could possibly want to dive deep into the world and factions)
Well one thing is for sure, this is targeted to Elden Ring players that wanted coop without invasions. One thing is for sure that if they make that a selling point and tons of people buy it then they decide to slide in an invasion system, I'm sure a class action lawsuit will be formed.
I wasn't completely when I first saw it for maybe a half an hour and now I can't be more hyped.
After this video...im still not sold on Nightreign.
I don’t blame you. I’m hoping the CNT makes a stronger case for it than this initial information. Even then, I think how a player feels about roguelikes and/or co-op is going to have a big impact on how appealing this concept is.
The only thing I dislike is that some people are saying there’s no
Customization some
People are saying there is some
People say you can’t change weapons or Armor and some
People are saying you can but I hope customization is a thing
In the game
It is. Maybe not like normally but for sure something is there
There are skins that you can buy using in game currency that you get after every run, also you loot different weapons during runs as well
I wanna see them have like super rare enemy encounters.
Preserves that sense of wonder and discovery i reckon. And as concerned as some people are about seeing previous fromsoft souls bosses... I am totally here for that kind of fan service! Just fingers crossed they mix up the returning enemy movesets to catch us veterans off guard~
@@aroudingo heavily agreed, they say this game has a progressive story and the maps will become increasingly different with volcanos and meteoric impacts and haunted forests, caves, eternal city like structures, swamps and stuff so I think they will have some surprises in store for us
@@godly_potatoe69xd19 true, iirc dark souls 3 sold 2 million more since elden ring released. it hasnt hit those sales figs in years.
@@godly_potatoe69xd19when he said rare he meant new enemies not the lazy reused boss everyone and their grandmothers have already conquered
I dont even mind if its not my game. I do like studios doing something new. We had many fromsoftwere games that while all being really good felt similar to each other and i think it would be nice for from software to do new style of games. Nightrighen is interesting and i do hope that im the future they still make soulsborne games but also new different games
Super Excited, I only played Elden Ring. Nice to battle other bosses from other games.
I'm hoping for a PVP experience as well, with this combat we neeed
I just wish they made a better multiplayer implementation and not the same jank it always is, a coop ocused roguelike wouldve really deserved that.
Great review👏👏👏
I don’t think it’s a cash grab either. Fromsoft has been releasing a game every 2-4 years for the past 15+ years. This lets them keep that same momentum while creating something new. I don’t play many multiplayer games, but I can see Nightreign changing that and I’m all for it!
Me personally i prefer the tru dark souls style of games but this is unique and interesting it combines souls gameplay with a boss rush/ survival game it looks like a fun time if u like co op i play solo always but ima try this
Im just happy we get a small meal before the main dish
Seriously, I think from software is the only game developer who tried to risk to do other thing in the entire video game industry, but I like that idea and I will buy day one the game and they will play the game but even my brother don’t play the game. We’ll buy the game because he have some nostalgia from software and will give the support for from software.
Good thing this is going to succeed regardless of what anyone says.
Totally. Fromsoft playing more in the roguelike space is awesome.
I wish we could possibly use our customised elden ring character model even though gender locked by the premade class.
Hunter, I'm glad I watched this video. You've actually sold me on Nightreign. It feels like just good clean Fromsoft fun. I have no doubt I'll be playing. Might even try the cardigan password and hope to run into you and take down the Night Lord!
It's basically Elden Ring Warriors, It will be cool AF.
I trust a little passion project from one of the senior Devs over anthything western publishers and studios push out
If it's not good then we move on, but who knows? maybe it will birth the phase "Nightreign like" just like other Fromsoft hits.
So long as we continue to get our high-end singleplayer experiences with clear artistic vision, I don't mind if FromSoftware wants to explore other game genres focused on gameplay improvements and resource development in side projects
@@iamdoom9810mashing a lazy asset flip is “EXPLORING” delusional
Elden-lite?
Hell yeah dude
Mortal shells have rogue like mode and its awesome, its best thing about mortal shells and after I played it I always thought why fromsoft games dont have it and they will
Looks at the title of this video.. looks at your channel name.. yeah that makes sense 😂
Have they announced the price ?
I heard 40 if I remember correctly but don't quote me
Agree with everything except the cautious optimism. The game just looks bad. That would be fine if they weren't owned by sony I would just wait for the next game but since they are fromsoft is basically dead to me.
They're not owned by Sony
@@LoreHunter ok mb: Sony is the now the largest shareholder of kadokawa and therefore fromsoft is basically dead to me.
It would be great to be proven wrong.
6:30 i do agree but i still think elden ring is he pinnacle of combat of souls games and pretty close to sekiro once you get it, its far above bb in combat for me. alot of rigid souls vets played the game like its ds3 and rightfully got their ass handed to them, kinda like the ppl that played bb like its ds1 and got destroyed.
but souls vets fragile egoes kinda dont allow them to admit that the fault is mostly theirs for playing the game wrong.
imagine centepede demon has the same moveset 💀
The wolf is coming inside you
I'll never forget the "Wolfblood Howling In My Veins" battle OST from that Devil May Cry spinoff about the werewolves, the lyrics were hype and relatable to the whole "two doges inside me" thought experiment meme.
He did say no new DLC or sequel... this is a spin-off
A nice play on words
Come on. People always wanted some aspect of crossover. It sets fire to the imagination!
It’s fun in a limited context like this where it’s not being taken too seriously
If this game come close to chalices in bloodborne i will buy it day zero 😂 without thinking
God I hope not, chalice dungeons were the worst part of the game, apart from the sub 30 FPS and non-regenerating blood vials.
@nikmullin7798
You don't understand games then
Vials? You can buy 600 vials very easy
I think you don't play bloodborne or souls games
Play chalices on cursed versions and see the fun of difficulty
a cash grab as a full game spin off is better than most studios who abuses micro transactions and barely adding anything to a game
I do not think it looks bad. Just underwhelming
If we can’t run it on lan it’s literally a live service, what are you on about?
For example, your summons can revive you in co-op - who revives you playing solo.
can only play a souls game so many times before you're just going through the motions, excited asf for this.
it's going to be fun
I am praying that Artorias is a boss in Nightreign because it would be pure bliss to cross swords with The Abysswalker himself in Elden Ring combat.
I love ER. And I love Rougelites. Easy win for me.
Risk of Nightreign
I just want dedicated servers not p2p, I won't bother playing with others if fromsoft chooses to use the same archaic multiplayer system
If this is coop only, I'mma prime skip this one.
RAAAAAAH I LOVE MAJULAS THEME
In regards to the dark souls bosses in the world I have noticed a bunch of hints that dark souls and elden ring might be in somewhat of a shared universe.
I just hope I can play it without issues solo. I dont wanna play with 2 strangers.
Git gud
@@sg_steadfast For sure I will have to get good when going in solo.
It’s already been confirmed that the game can be played single player.
why the demon centipede in there
Because it’s a greatest hit game basically, gathering all the bosses md enemies from previous entries.
6:27 - 6:36
True of combat fundamentals, but far from true when it comes to replayability, coop play, and itemization.
