Today Erik got his labs back. One month later , Creatinine 3.6 to 2.9. GFR. 15 to 19. Two months ago it was 12 GFR . For a month now he has had only three days of beef or chicken. Mostly following very low animal protein, low sugar, and dairy. Some vegan fake meat, stir fries and almost all his 73oz of water a day. Weight stable at 157. We think his kidney disease was due to high blood pressure at young age. Had bypass at 54. No diabetes thank goodness. Electrolytes all normal range👍. Sept well will continue with no animal protein and get protein from plant sources. We had training for PD and even had supplies delivered and catheter in place to start when the results of diet stared changing outlook. Next week they will decide what to do with the catheter. Remove or "bury" for now. Will continue on this eating plan and pray for continued good results as long as he can. Thank you James for your advise and help.
My GFR is now 35 and I must improve my health. I now changed my diet to a plant-based diet which is better for my health. I also am walking 30 minutes 6 days a week. I am feeling much better already. Thanks very much for your encouragement!!!
You are off to a great start! Great job! Here is something that may also help - I wake up every morning to a playlist and listen to it while getting ready for the day. I listen to this playlist every day and it helps keep the fire burning inside of me and gives me even more motivation. Here is the playlist I use: music.apple.com/us/playlist/morning/pl.u-j4lWCpAZYG

I'm edna legas here in Galt California..More power to you and God bless us 🇺🇸
That is awesome - and it's all YOU! It's easy to talk endlessly on video, it takes a lot to actually turn that into action and make the changes. Great job!
Hello Sir , your videos are very informative and useful. Beside this I would like to suggest few which evry kidney patient must follow. 1. Avoid food with excess protein like meat products. Avoid alcohol and carbonated drinks .No excess salt.Try a pinch for a single meal , if possible use Himalaya salt i.e rock salt. Limit the use of all types of cereals, if possible avoid it.Avoid potatoes, underground vegetables except onion and garlic.Avoid corn, beans , peas too becoz it has excess protein. Most important avoid tea and coffee.Try foods, vegetables and fruits with least protein , sodium, potassium and phosphorus. 2. Use: apple, papaya, cherry, all kinds of berries. Vegetables- cucumber, red bell pepper , ridge gourd, pointed gourd cabbage , cauliflower . Prefer White rice or its flour, wheat flour ,Semolina. Prefer green tea or black tea . Use sodium bicarbonate i.e baking soda (used for eating pupose)half spoon in a cup of warm water 3 times a day for 2 weeks. It comes in tablet form as well .consult your doctor before u use it.Very helpful to lower creatinine. 3.Do not do heavy exercise .Prefer yoga or aerobic exercise. 4. Maintain high Blood pressure and diabetes to normal level. Follow up is necessary. 5. Do not take OTC painkiller, antibiotics or any other medicine of your own.consult your doctor which are safe for kidney patient. 6. Control your body weight. Regular monitoring is essential. 7. Limit or avoid too much processed foods . 8. Believe in yourself and faith in God and confidence on yourself. After all Health is wealth .Google for more information which may be fruitful and informative.
Reducing stress on your kidneys Reducing inflammation Make these changes: 1: take all meds as directed (diabetes and high blood pressure) 2: low carb diet 3: intermittent fasting 4: drink water 1/2 body weight in oz. 5: life style changes... no smoking... don’t drink heavy...avoid ibuprofen 6: getting excersis 7: de stress ;de stress ; de stress 8: cookware (learn how to cook yourself) 9: supplements. (Always check with doctor first) May need extra vitamins or minerals. Some herbs may be good. Check first with doctor. 10: fiber, probiotics, a renal probiotic 11: continue learning. Science is evolving. New treatments and learning may be coming. 12: ask questions from doctor to learn about the problem.
Thank you, for this video. My kidney disease comes from kidney stone's. I'm not diabetic and do have hypertension but I take meds for it. My doctor kept me on dialysis for 10 years now and never told me about my GFR or nothing. So I'm getting ready to take matters in my own hands from now on because I'm not suppose to be on this machine from the beginning.
Good luck - make sure and work with your doctor and a dietitian. Everyone I have seen graduate from dialysis has worked very close with theirs, so it will give you the best chance. And when it comes to kidney disease, we all need every advantage we can get.
Sonya, You are finally waking up, look up on UA-cam, Apostle Leroy Thompson, videos on divine health. You HAVE to read upon your health issues. I did and will never regret it. Doctors are good but not God. Read PS 139, slowly he's talking about you. The most SERIOUS we make is not working with your doc. with knowledge, so they put you on MEDICATIONS!!!!!. Which have serious side effects. I had a doc. get seriously angry because I told him dialysis was not in my future. He did a monkey dance, I walked out. He is a nephrologist. So I am wary of blindingly following drs. That dispense pharmacy like candy, FULLY AWAKE.
I think diet is very important water changed my body a lot. After three months of listening to you following what you suggested; my pain finally went away. It was a beautiful day. It was hard to quit chocolate. I was addicted.
GFR stable at 60 according to my doctor. My goal is to make it even higher. I bought one of your sweatshirts for my doctor to try and get my doctor to check your website. a suggestion for u Jim is not only put "kidney warrior on it but ad you website to each of your products . I am adding it to the one I bought as a reminder to check your website and get on board as my doctor helps other people. thanks coach and everyone!
You always brighten my day! :-) My kids have also been encouraging me to do up more shirts and to wrap my car. I've told them I'll wrap my next one when my lease is up in a few months.
Dear Mr James, Thank you very much. We love you. Your 7 tips in your 54th video on kidney health are wonderful. You're a very great man and a genius. We love you. Hameed Jilani. Lahore.Pakistan. age 83. Ex Senior civil judge. 23.9.2019 12.34 a.m.
I believe Renadyl is the probiotic that you are eluding too. I use it and it is pretty awesome. You have to be sure to keep it refrigerated to keep the good bacteria from dying. Thanks for everything you do : )
Ur amazing person thank u so much for the wonderful videos I am from India suffering in kidney failure stage 5 I am following ur diet doing better ur most energetic person in the world take care
I was at stage five kidney damage. I’m on the omad diet and believe me it works. I spin on my bike 🚴 for an hour four or five days a week. And I drink plenty of water.
Wonderful! When our body has a need, supplements can be helpful - but too many of us are using supplements when we don't need them and it is putting more stress on our bodies. I review ALL supplements with my health care team before adding any. As a matter of fact, I had a company reach out to me yesterday to try their product for preventing kidney stones - I declined since it does not look like something my doctors would approve of.
I'm at 45% right now....3rd stage kidney failure. I'm not overweight, active for my age, not diabetic, blood pressure been treated and managed for years, never smoked, do not drink alcohol, but, yet I have kidney failure. I even like water too. I'm trying to decide now do I want at my age to prolong my life by dieting and giving up things I enjoy. I mean I'm older than u by many years(71), so, no matter what I do my life is on its last journey. I maybe have 10 years left whether kidney disease or heart failure, etc. I do not stress over having kidney failure. I'm just deciding if I want to spend what few years I have left enjoying life or cinch the belt and start dieting to add another year or so. In another words....is it worth it?? I will probably end up in a nursing home anyway, alone and staring out of the window. Yes I'm cynical but I'm being realistic.
Several years ago my doctor told me that my kidneys are failing. That’s all they said and I wasn’t at all concerned. A few weeks ago I was told to see my doctor for a Wellness Exam. They took blood and a urine specimen. The sheet they gave me when I left (with the results) said my kidneys were at #3 and it’s critical. Well, now that #3 woke me up and now I’m concerned, but I haven’t received any information on what I’m supposed to do about it. It’s a good thing I’m 91 years old, I probably won’t have to worry about it anyway, that’s what they are hoping!
Most likely your at Stage 3 - which is a vary large range and not a bad place to be, especially at your age. Stage 3 covers what used to be 3a and 3b , so you could be at the top end, the bottom end, or somewhere in the middle. At stage 3 you'll want to look at your diet, and you may have a couple bad habits you should look at breaking. For example, no smoking and no dark colored sodas. You'll want to avoid using NSAIDs - things like Ibuprofen. A visit to a dietitian can probably give you almost all the information you need to help you not need to worry about your kidneys. While stage 3 is serious - my mom has been at Stage 3 since the early 90s. So don't let it stress you - and it sounds like it isn't. I recommend a visit with a dietitian to help you keep your kidneys at stage 3. Good luck and congrats on being 91!
@Salvation manna My father suffering from kidney desease creatinine level 10 what type homeyo medice use please suggest my what's app number 9492928528
I'd like to thank you for making these videos.. I have chronic kidney disease stage five.. and I am on P.D. but I would love to reverse this.. I'm 43.. I don't feel like I'm 43 but I know I am not ready to give up.. thank you so much.. because of you're videos I actually feel positive of this.. again thank you!!!! I'm in California
Thank you for your support! I used to live in California - Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, and Mission Viejo. What part of Cali are you in? I really miss the amazing weather there. These Ohio winters are pretty tough.
I have been trying to drink more water. I've been drinking 64 to 72 ounces. I am trying to hit 100 ounces. I'll let you know if it improves things. Thank you for this channel.
SO HAPPY I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AS WELL AS YOUR ENTHUSIASM!!!!😄THIS HAS HELPED ME TEN FOLD, THANK YOU DADVICE FOR YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH KIDNEY DISEASE. WHO BETTER THAN SOMEONE WHO HAS GONE THRU OR GOING THRU NO YOU AREN'T A DR...BUT SO MUCH INFO OUR DR. SHOULD TELL US. THANK YOU SIR BEYOND MEASURE. BLESS YOU🙏
I have just come across your channel l found so informative .l have stage 4 CKD ,its been so difficult to get diet information ⚘Thank you so much l can now adjust my diet⚘
I am glad you found my channel. While I am not a doctor, this channel has all sorts of info that has helped me in my journey to fight and beat kidney disease. I have come a long way over the last year, and so have many others. Looking back, it was much easier than I thought it would be as I gained the knowledge of managing my diet. Feel free to reach out with questions or if you need some motivation! We have a great community here of people helping and supporting each other.
You give me hope, but I eat very little protein ( meats ) I just got a call from my doctor that I have to come back in January the kidney function went way low. Keto used to work for me in my younger days now at 59 it gives me cramps so bad ( take me home now Jesus! Type, lol ) So thank you for the new tips.
Great information, and inspirational. Looks like I must lower my carbs a bit. Doing blood works next month, and want to shock my Dr. with a good in almost all areas. Great video...🌹❤️🌹❤️
Thank you sooo much!! I loved all of your videos.. it seems You have investigated a lot!! and share it in a simple and interesting way!! also you encourage all of us who need that!!! Tank you!
At age 71 with GFR of 54, wanted your take on Low fat liverwurst. 41mg phos 150mg sod 35mg pot per 1/4 inch thick 2 1/2 inch round slice. I love this in moderation but wondering if there is a catch I am not seeing since the protein shouldn't be that much more if any than muscle meat? BTW, tried the impossible burger the other day and sat there with a big grin on my face as the patty was so much like hamburger in texture and flavor it was scary. Will see when the patties are in the grocery stores. Thanks James!
I am adding all your advise to my diet. The problem is that something I am really tired, but I have started 5 days.my Doctor didn't tell me anything I had to learn it all myself I hope it is no too late to save my kidneys, but I am going to do everything I can. Thank you so much for these videos they also make me feel so much better
Hello 👋 James my a Husbands Doc agreed that for him to go ahead and mix the BenFiber is a go ahead!!! And baking soda measuring 1/2 teaspoon in 8 ounces of water 💦 mixed drink daily this will keep the acid off of his Kidneys, what are your thoughts on the baking soda??? Thank you 🙏🏻 for being such a inspiration to us ❤️
Hi James, nice video! I have a question, I'm in stage 3, but I also have a bad back, my back doctor recommended that I use a heating pad on my lower back every morning for 20 minutes, so that makes the pad be in the general area of my kidneys. I don't put the heat up very high and it does help my back and help me get thru my day with out much pain, but my question is, is that heat causing any problem for my kidneys? Thank you for your reply.
I’ve watched this for the second time. I watch all of your videos. They are terrific ! I’m really trying to follow because my kidney function dropped from 57 to 44 in 6 months. They don’t know why. And worse, gave me no information or suggestions ! Same old same old ! So, I really need your channel. Keep it up !
Thank you for sharing. I recognize your name from comments and support in the past. How is your blood pressure and blood sugar? Your doctor should do a yearly A1c to check blood sugar, even if you are not diabetic. I talk so much about diet, but managing blood pressure and blood sugar are probably the #1 things to do to prevent further damage to our kidneys. I'm going to be talking a lot about blood pressure next month, including what equipment I use and why I take my blood pressure multiple times a day and share it with my health care team through the Internet.
Thanks James. I will ask for an A1c. My blood sugar runs low. Last test, not A1c was 51. My blood pressure runs 120/70. Will get it checked more often. Thanks again for all you do.
thanks all ... goals provide motivation along with working with Coach Jimmy and people,s blogs ... unfortunately i have to change my doctor because she is moving... i have not been able to convince her to check out your website ... maybe i will buy her one of your t-shirts as her good by gift ha ha! i hopefully will reach my wt loss goal by the end of this march 2020. out of the 5 blood pressure medication, i am only on 3. i use a food log that helps me with all of my 5 goals that are the same as u have discussed ... of journals give u a sense of accomplishment and motivation. i actually was not reviewing you site .... confession ... but I AM BACK AND PARTICIPATION IS AN ADDED GOAL!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your support! It is difficult for a doctor to look at a website - the internet is full of so many that are scams, incorrect information, and even dangerous tips. I can fully understand their frustrations when looking at sites online - it's extremely difficult for me to log into Facebook anymore. Nearly every group I belong to is full of one bad/completely wrong/dangerous recommendation after another. For Doctors it is even more difficult since they can't speak up. Part of my own goals for 2020 is to make DadviceTV more educational focused (from a patients point of view) so that it can stand out more from the others out there. I'd like people to realize right away that it is not one of those "Buy my PDF eBook Kidney Cure" or "Eat Baking Soda and Pickles to Cure CKD" type websites. I also want Dadvice TV to help bridge that communication/understanding gap between patients and doctors, and help encourage more engagement with dietitians (one of the most valuable resources in fighting kidney disease). Sounds like we both have great goals for 2020! Good luck on your weight loss goals - keep me updated! Funny thing - I always remember you when I see a post with your name. I once worked for amazing guy named John Holt in Seattle. He was like Steve Jobs of digital automotive, except everyone absolutely loved working with him due to his positivity. Your name always reminds me of him and how much I really enjoyed working for the company he founded. I'm still at that company, almost 12 years later, but he retired in 2014 and is still talked about within our halls. Because of that I always smile when I see your name!
We need exercise and that is part of the lifestyle changes. Doctors recommend getting 30 minutes of light activity 5-7 times a week. It helps with blood pressure, weight, stress and more. It could be walking, swimming, playing ball with the dog, aerobic exercise - anything that elevates your heart rate.
My question would be for the creator and others. What type of smyptoms warrant a kidney check? I have blood work done every year and they say it's fine.
@@DADVICETV Yes you do. I've been watching for a while and just staying to myself not sure why. But I really like the community you have here . I would like to be a part of it.
Be careful with cast iron pans because accumulating excess iron can damage your heart! Many processed foods have extra iron added plus it’s often in your multi-vit too so you can easily get too much. Your body has no way to get rid of excess iron except by bleeding. There are those who theorize that that’s why women have fewer heart attacks than men do but that after menopause their rate goes up to match or exceed the rate in men. You can give blood every few weeks to get rid of excess iron. I’ve stopped using cast iron and use stainless steel instead.
James, I would like your thoughts on something. At my last checkup I got the printout that doesn't seem to have a GFR reading anywhere. Weird. But the creatinine level IS recorded at 1.5. I know that is in the normal range. What is the likelihood that a normal creatinine rating is a good indicator that the GFR will be normal? Or is there no direct correlation? Appreciate all your videos so much.
One Naturopathic Doctor on TV claimed the GFR wasn't that significant. He said it represents a total of several factors but apparently it is not a specific biological indicator of kidney function.
I felt pain in my left lower back i presume i have kidney stone. To date i am drinking lemon juice, also eating orange, oat for my breakfast, sometimes i also drink beer when my friends call for bonding. Am i in the right attitude concrning my kidney?
Thank you for the "shout out" James. Yes my last name is Irish but my first name isn't. It is pronounced DEE DREE. Others have pronounced it the way you said it in the video. Yes, we are a special community of people that want to see each other be well and healthy. We all want the best for each other and are happy to share what we know & what we have experienced. You help to keep a smile on my face while on a serious subject of Kidney Disease and learning all that I can from you. Thank you for putting in such great effort into your Channel. Very much appreciated.
Thanks! Glad you knew which Dedrie I was talking about since I did mispronounce your name. I found a couple different pronunciations and took a chance on the Irish one. I truly do appreciate your interactions with other people. When I was diagnosed my life was shattered and I realized just how important sharing and supporting each other is. If it wasn't for my amazing primary care physician sharing how to use diet and lifestyle changes with me to fight kidney disease, I'd be on Dialysis and living a very different life. It's amazing people like you who are willing to share and help that really make a difference in this world. Thanks again!
@@DADVICETV , You are amazing for sharing your journey and helping many people to know how to work with their Doctor. You are teaching people a lot through your own experience. People feel alone when they have been diagnosed with CKD and it is so great that you have created a UA-cam Channel that is so important for those people to know that they are NOT ALONE. Thank you for appreciating my caring nature just as I do yours. Stay well my friend !
It's very easy to get depressed and be miserable with CKD - it's a real challenge we all face. What I found helped me was keeping myself busy and focused on something positive. For me it was creating these videos. It keeps me focused on something I enjoy and that is productive. And I'd say 99% of the comments are supportive and positive - which helps keep me focused on the future. I encourage you to find something your dad enjoys and see if you can bring more of that into his life. I'd also be more than happy to do a shout out to him if you think that would brighten his day! Email me his first name and a little about him to james @ dadvicetv.com
I wish doctors had lists of groups that are as up beat as you !! All they do is send me to nutritionest & diabetes's class's. Those are boring & always say the same thing. I've been diabetic for 10yrs (plus) & found out I had CKD 3yrs ago. Looking back I get a kick out of the Doc's when they say " You didn't know ? ". I try to keep up beat, but it gets hard. I wish there where groups of like people to talk to. Dr's think your getting depressed when you ask for help, no just need to talk to someone who's in the same boat as me, not rehashing those generic classes. Thank you for being up beat & optimistic about things. Its good to hear !!! :)
Thanks for sharing Jane - you actually made me laugh. While my profession is marketing, I love public speaking and do a lot of training. My class surveys always comment on how much people appreciate my high energy and approach, compared to the boring and depressing styles of others. I'm looking at what it would cost to get a message board setup where we could all talk (message/chat) with each other and share ideas, recipes, tips, labs, etc. You are so right that our community needs a place to talk and share. There are also a lot of people out there who need the support of others - or else they may do something not helpful. That is a very high priority for me right now - figuring out how to build a better community where we can better communicate with each other. I'm also going to be doing live videos/classes in the future - I'm looking at the platforms available and how they work to see which ones I may be able to do. UA-cam is great in that it is free, but those watching have to type their questions and comments. I'm hoping to find something that could allow 2-way voice or even 2-way video. I hope to get a solution for both of these nailed down in the near future.
@@DADVICETV : I'm eager to see/hear what you come up with. I'm only on you tube, but what ever you come up with, I'll get my son to set me up. Thank you for getting back to me, I feel you really care for the people your trying to help. I like the way you explain things, It's relaxing & puts me at ease about whats going on !! Thanks again !! Keep smiling ! :)
I will be doing a video about this soon as we approach Flu season here. Chances are your recovery may take longer since we are already dealing with a weakened overall system. My doc has told me to get my flu shot while I feel healthy and that if I do get sick, to increase my daily water intake. Washing hands, using hand sanitizer, and staying clear of sick people can help reduce the chances of getting sick. I take hand sanitizer with me as well as wipes and use those for door handles, shopping carts, and other public things people touch often. So far I have been lucky and not gotten sick since being diagnosed. I also always get a flu shot each year.
I just started watching your videos and it has given overflowing hope! Right now I just found out that I have cysts in my kidneys ( May have PKD) from a different CT scan unrelated to kidneys. So I went and had a renal panel test done and I was really worried. My GFR was at 67. Low for my age. I had already started on the keto diet and then I heard that any kind of carbs can feed the cysts so I gave up on all carbs no sugar, no grains no baked stuff etc. But then I started having flank pains and a discomfort to go. Well I may have kidney infection ( I’ve had chronic stones) and got my 2nd test back and my GFR went 7 points lower!! After all my effort of intermittent fasting and cuttting out carbs my GFR went lower! Real discouraging! And my creatinine was a little high. So no more protein for me. But this was discouraging. I am making an appointment to my doc on all this but it hazme bummed me out.
I had a similar experience when I first went on Keto. Check out my GFR graph at www.dadvicetv.com/my-kidney-labs - you can see my Keto diet impact in June. My doctors had to adjust my low carb diet to be extremely high fat, low protein (plant based), and ultra low carb. Part of the problem was that I had my gallbladder removed about 11 years ago. I had never mentioned that and didn't realize it would impact my diet. The good news was that with the tweaks I regained my lost GFR and kept improving. Our path is always going to be a roller coaster, we just need to use those dips and learning moments to keep up going up more and more. Make sure you join me next Tuesday the 25th at 3pm EST (New York time) for my results from using Renadyl for 90-days. Lowered my BUN and Creatinine over the holidays when my diet was pretty bad. www.dadvicetv.com/renadyl
This comes up often in the comments. Based on my limited knowledge or supplements and my experience with CKD, there are very few that can actually help. Those that do help are good when targeting specific issues - such as a natural diuretic helping with fluid retention. There is no way to “repair” your kidneys with current medical science, but some supplements can help in specific areas that can help improve your GFR and other challenges.
your info might not be from a Dr. perspective, but your info helped me go from stage 4 to 3b, in six montjs, and have stopped my pre diabetes, and I keep trying. I sometimes use cast iron, no fast food, no red meat, and healthier cooking choices. Only thing is my blood pressure has skyrocketed to very dangerous levels even though I don't use salt. I no longer have insurance, so it's kind of scary.
I am CKD 3 with egfr as calculated by the doctor is 51 what should I do .I don't drink alcohol , don't smoke since last 12 years. I don't take outside foods but I have blood pressure for which I take medicine regularly, I have detected Dystolic Disfunction Grade 1 six months ago ... doctor told me to do angiography but I didn't. What should I do actually my creatinine is 1.38 detected 10 days ago before it was always below 1... Do advice me James and Dr RO
Is there any hope of reversing stage 4 CKD diagnosed 7 yrs ago. Has 2 arteries blockage to both kidneys. GfR is hovering between 17 to 19. Creatinine is between 260 to 270. Has bn following CKD diet on plant based protein. Tks for noting.
Wonderful tips, thanks James. Among all the tips, I personally prefer : taking medicines as prescribed by your doctor and life style modification to help fighting with CKD the most. :-)
that is my #1 - we need to make sure we are following our doctors orders and taking the medications our body needs as directed. I used to be bad at always taking my meds, I might stop an antibiotic a couple days early just out of being lazy. But with CKD, we need to make sure and take all of our meds and only make changes when our doctors tell us. Thanks for sharing!
Dear Mr James, I love all your kidney health videos. Your 54th video is wonderful. I am a great fan of you and your way of teaching us. You're a very great man and you are generous and kind. Thank you very much. Hameed Jilani. Lahore.Pakistan. age 83. 2.51 p.m.
Thank you for your support! I have a lot of vacation time coming up form work which will give me a lot more time to get videos made. I still have SOOOOOO much to share - I'm not even half way through all the video ideas I have.
James your info is amazing and I see so many things that I have to correct in my dialysis walk. Please chat with me so I can turn my dialysis situation around to not being on dialysis. Please respond.
Thanks. Everything I've learned has come from my health care team, especially my Primary Care Physician and Renal Dietitian. It's amazing how powerful nutrition is at giving us a better edge on fighting kidney disease.
Hello Dadvice tv, thanks very much for your hard work and help. I have been following you since three months now, my GFR was 15 when I started following your channel ,I was only able to increase it to 16,please i need your help. I am determine and willing to do more to help myself .thanks for your help.

That is actually a tricky question. It isn't bad. What matters at the end of the day is eating a balanced diet that gives your body what it needs, and doesn't overburden your kidneys with excess or things you don't need. The good news is, that with portion control you can make almost anything fit into your diet. Here is a video and downloadable food list with a nutritional worksheet that I think will help: www.dadvicetv.com/food
Dear James .. Im Farzan from Sri Lanka .. Just came across your Dadvice TV channel ... Its great to know that there are people like you are there . Sharing your own experience with CKD ... And you inspire people to push through difficulties in coming to cope with CKD ...thank you ... And about drinking water you've said in your video to drink half of your body weight in pounds ... Is that for a full day or should i do it in a specific time frame ...please let me know ..thank you again ...oh and another thing can i have your email address too ....thanks again .
The standard recommendation (assuming you are not on a water restriction) is to drink 1/2 ounce of water a day for each pound you weigh. So if you weigh 160lbs, you would drink 80 ounces of water a day to stay properly hydrated. When it comes time to get your labs (blood drawn), make sure and spread out the water you drink over a full day. Drinking a bunch of water just before getting labs doesn't give it time to get into your system and properly hydrate you. Hope this helps!
You will want to get a copy of your labs - they will have a few important numbers. Your GFR (or eGFR) along with any protein in your urine and your age will give you a good idea of how your kidneys are doing. Check out the videos I have with Dr. Ro at DadviceTV.com - he shares great information about how AGE is important when looking a your kidney function. Too many doctors ignore age and will say an older person with a reduction in kidney function has CKD, when really they kidneys are working normally for their age.
This one has to be answered by your doctor - and they will need to know the source of the collagen supplements. Some are made with animal byproducts and can contain creatine and other things we don't want or need.
Thank you for your insights. Appreciate your work and concern...however, health professionals in the kidney area ... of course, is a luck of the draw.. contrary to what you had said, many are quite insightful and working hard to treat the kidney mystery... Cheers mate
I have a food list I used as a general shopping guide - you can download it from www.dadvicetv.com/food - it is a great starting place if you are not working with a renal dietitian yet. It does work best WITH a renal dietitian.
Supplements are to fill in where diet has a gap - so it is going to vary person to person. Your doctors (or dietitian) may recommend D3, CoQ10, Vitamin C, a B-Complex, or others - but it depends on what your body needs. Most kidney patients can benefit from a renal multivitamin (I use ProRenal+D) and Renadyl (a renal probiotic). You can learn more about those (and others) at www.dadvicetv.com/common-supplements Just always make sure you are taking supplements for a reason - just adding them to your treatment without input from your doctors/dietitian can cause problems.
thanks coach ... I did fall off the wagon ... not good ... I needed to hear your voice of encouragement ... GFR WENT FROM 57 TO 35 NOT GOOD ... BACK ON 7 WAYS TO IMPROVE ...had to go on bactrim for urine infection which I think ADDED TO THE drop in my GFR ... BACK ON TRACK THANK U!!!
Sad to hear you fell off the wagon and your GFR dropped. The good news is you should be able to recover back to where you where. While we will face CKD for the rest of our lives, I believe medical science will deliver some solutions IN the next decade that will help filter toxins and waste products from our blood without dialysis - allowing our kidneys to focus on the other duties they have (controlling blood pressure, helping our bones, etc.). By exercising conservative management we can delay or avoid dialysis long enough for these medical breakthroughs. When you feel like cheating on your diet, remember, we are buying ourselves time for these breakthroughs. Then we can celebrate for the rest of our lives.
This is a very common question - and so many people pass Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) off as a "cure". I haven't created a video about it, but I have researched it and even did a test (with before and after labs). There are some people that it can help - and 650mg Sodium Bicarbonate tablets are very affordable and easy to purchase over the counter. BUT, and it's a big BUT (cue to the music), it only helps people who NEED it. Taking it for no medical reason, except random hope, isn't going to help and it could even cause issues. Supplements are important with dealing with CKD - but you always have to have a reason for each supplement. If you need vitamin D (which most CKD patients do), then D3 supplements can help (when recommended by your health care team). If you need the B vitamins, your health care team will recommend them. Same goes with other supplements - from CoQ10 to Alpha Lipoic Acid. Now there is interesting research on Sodium Bicarbonate and all of the results end up with the same conclusion: There may be something there and more research is needed. More research needs to be done to determine when and how to use it beyond how it is currently used. I gave it a try - I got labs, took it daily for a month, then got labs. My doctor told me it would not improve anything. The labs showed he was right - I actually had some problems and had to stop it. Now a LOT of people will say it works, and there are lots of youtube videos telling you to take it daily (usually mixed in water instead of in the easier to swallow tablets). I have not found a single one with labs to support this works - NOT A SINGLE ONE. If this worked, people would have labs to show it works and doctors would be using it - they can prescribe it. Again, it does look like there is something there, but more research is needed to determine when and how to use it. And by "When", I mean not just based on kidney function, but should it be taken before bed, 3 hours after eating to avoid interfering with nutrient absorption, etc. Hope this helps. This is an extremely common question and I should create a video about it one day - though I am certain the comments will be filled with negative responses from people who just can't accept facts.
My name is glory ulaeto.i am a ckd patient ND I hve been on dialysis since last year.is there a chance for me to get help.bcos the dialysis has eaten all my money
Be careful with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Too many people promote it on UA-cam as a cure - they are doing that for clicks. Sodium Bicarbonate WILL NOT fix kidneys, it wont restore them, it wont repair them, it wont rebuild them, it wont flush them, it wont "turn them on like a faucet". Anyone promoting that is a scam. The only time you should take sodium bicarbonate is when your doctor recommends it. If you body is LOW, which happens often at lower GFRs, your doctor may recommend taking a certain number of tablets (usually 650mg each) per day. They will monitor your bicarbonate levels and have you stop as soon as you return to the normal levels. Many Nephrologist also recommend taking sodium bicarbonate tablets (650mg) as an antacid. I have a large bottle of it here at my home that I use instead of Rolaids and Tums. But I only take them when I have an upset stomach (which is very seldom). Do not eat baking soda from a box or mix it in a drink in hopes it will do something helpful. It's loaded with sodium and can be dangerous. If your body is low on bicarbonate, your doctor will recommend it for you and give you detailed instructions on when and how to take it (timing matters - it interferes with your nutrient absorption).
Your are not a doctor or dietitian, but you are our hero...you give us hope for someone like me who cant aford to have dietitian....
If you enjoyed this video, please give it a THUMBS UP and share it with your friends fighting Kidney Disease! Let me know which of these steps you currently don't do but will consider adding to your treatment strategy! 🙂

How to get protein from vegetables?please help me bacause most of vegetables are high in potasium....and also is james eating fish?
This is amazing
How is he doing now?
Thank you so much james,,you're such an amazing coach. I do all the tips and teachings, that you and Katherine shares to beat ckd. MY creatinine last Feb 2020 was 2.02,,GFR 27.. .BY APRIL ,creatinine was 1.76 and GFR is 30...amazingly this September 2020,,creatinine drops to 1.22 and gfr is high 51.. thank u so much.. That is awesome - and it's all YOU! It's easy to talk endlessly on video, it takes a lot to actually turn that into action and make the changes. Great job!
WOW!!! Those are AMAZING RESULTS!! So AWESOME!! GLORY to GOD!!
Pls what specifically are some of the things u did that help improve your gfr?

8: cookware (learn how to cook yourself)
9: supplements. (Always check with doctor first) May need extra vitamins or minerals. Some herbs may be good. Check first with doctor.
10: fiber, probiotics, a renal probiotic
11: continue learning. Science is evolving. New treatments and learning may be coming.
12: ask questions from doctor to learn about the problem.
i realize I am pretty off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream new series online?
Thank you!
Low carb? AND low protein? What are you going to eat? lol
Mam..do you have whats App number. I want quest you about your situation please. Thanks very much
@@Svarttorden No, I don't have What's up app. But I'm seeing my urologist next week and I'm going to be a free woman from dialysis. Thank you, Lord
😳
Sonya,
You are finally waking up, look up on UA-cam, Apostle Leroy Thompson, videos on divine health.
Dear Mr James,

I believe Renadyl is the probiotic that you are eluding too. I use it and it is pretty awesome. You have to be sure to keep it refrigerated to keep the good bacteria from dying. Thanks for everything you do : )
Ur amazing person thank u so much for the wonderful videos I am from India suffering in kidney failure stage 5 I am following ur diet doing better ur most energetic person in the world take care
Thank you for your kind words and support!
I was at stage five kidney damage. I’m on the omad diet and believe me it works. I spin on my bike 🚴 for an hour four or five days a week. And I drink plenty of water.
You seem to have a lot more energy and appear healthier than when I first saw you months ago. Keep it up!
Great advice. I took supplements and every morning I kept feeling nausea. I stopped them, and feeling much better.Thank you.
Well am going to try some of this for my Mommy to help her with her CKD from today...My Mother don't want dialysis....
I tried homeo medicines which really helped me. Now I buy it and use it. I am on dialysis for 5 years. I am from India.

How ru brother now
You give me hope, but I eat very little protein ( meats ) I just got a call from my doctor that I have to come back in January the kidney function went way low. Keto used to work for me in my younger days now at 59 it gives me cramps so bad ( take me home now Jesus! Type, lol ) So thank you for the new tips.
You're amazing ! Thanks for everything!
Can you recommend alternative for pain relief?
Very good information my husband gfr is in 34 he is doing diet he had them at 30gfr

I love this in moderation but wondering if
there is a catch I am not seeing since the protein shouldn't be that much more if any than muscle meat? BTW, tried the impossible burger the other day and sat there with a big grin
on my face as the patty was so much like hamburger in texture and flavor it was scary.
Do you think it is possible to reverse end stage kidney disease or even to come off of dialysis?
WOW. LET'S KICK KIDNEY DISEASE TO THE CURB,
Oh yeah!
Yes, Sounds good to me Bernadette !!! :)
Thank you for helping me with my kidney disease
Glad to hear that - but it was you who made all the changes. Do you currently work with a renal dietitian?
thanks all ... goals provide motivation along with working with Coach Jimmy and people,s blogs ... unfortunately i have to change my doctor because she is moving... i have not been able to convince her to check out your website ... maybe i will buy her one of your t-shirts as her good by gift ha ha! i hopefully will reach my wt loss goal by the end of this march 2020. out of the 5 blood pressure medication, i am only on 3. i use a food log that helps me with all of my 5 goals that are the same as u have discussed ... of journals give u a sense of accomplishment and motivation. i actually was not reviewing you site .... confession ... but I AM BACK AND PARTICIPATION IS AN ADDED GOAL!!!!!!!!!!
Because of that I always smile when I see your name!
so you think doing some exercises such as Walking 30 minutes every day is not useful in improving kidney function?
We need exercise and that is part of the lifestyle changes. Doctors recommend getting 30 minutes of light activity 5-7 times a week. It helps with blood pressure, weight, stress and more. It could be walking, swimming, playing ball with the dog, aerobic exercise - anything that elevates your heart rate.
My question would be for the creator and others. What type of smyptoms warrant a kidney check? I have blood work done every year and they say it's fine.
Wow thanks for another AWESOME video. I love ya bro! God Bless You!
Thank you for your support! We have an outstanding community here, helping each other to live better lives with this disease.
@@DADVICETV Yes you do. I've been watching for a while and just staying to myself not sure why. But I really like the community you have here . I would like to be a part of it.
I like your channel. As a male with heart issues, you should be careful about using cast iron pans. Too much iron has been associated with disease.
So True!

All the information is great. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
how were you able to persuade the hospital against administering dialysis on you when you were already in ICU?
Thanks sir
Ur videos really hopeful
I'm gonna fight and never need dylasis
That is great to hear. If you can, I recommend working with a renal dietitian. They can be hugely helpful.
I felt pain in my left lower back i presume i have kidney stone. To date i am drinking lemon juice, also eating orange, oat for my breakfast, sometimes i also drink beer when my friends call for bonding. Am i in the right attitude concrning my kidney?
The enthusiasm is real with this guy, lol;
I love to watch this now I know what I have to do when.....
You are so inspiring and optimistic! I wish my father was also like u, he is depressed and miserable(
It's very easy to get depressed and be miserable with CKD - it's a real challenge we all face.
Dadvice TV - Kidney Health Coach Thank you for your support and kindness, it means so much for my family.
James will have times when he is depressed too. Human nature. He is upbeat for the camera.
What does one do with Kidney Disease if you catch a cold, or flu, etc? Do you have any tips on this subject? Thanks.
What do you think about cornsilk?
This. Man. Is. Smart. !!!
Thank you - I'm a super nerd who constantly ask questions from doctors and renal dietitians.
@@DADVICETV Me too Dad, and I think the doctors and Nurse Practitioners hate me for it.
Have you studied moringa leaf? Would it benefit kidneys?
This comes up often in the comments. Based on my limited knowledge or supplements and my experience with CKD, there are very few that can actually help. Those that do help are good when targeting specific issues - such as a natural diuretic helping with fluid retention. There is no way to “repair” your kidneys with current medical science, but some supplements can help in specific areas that can help improve your GFR and other challenges.
Thank you so much for this.
Thank you for your support!
James, do you have your current tests results available online? If so, can you reply to me here with a link?
Second, what is your EGFR today?
your info might not be from a Dr. perspective, but your info helped me go from stage 4 to 3b, in six montjs, and have stopped my pre diabetes, and I keep trying. I sometimes use cast iron, no fast food, no red meat, and healthier cooking choices. Only thing is my blood pressure has skyrocketed to very dangerous levels even though I don't use salt. I no longer have insurance, so it's kind of scary.
My dad had that Bulga burgers but it was made with soy beans. Is that safe?
I am CKD 3 with egfr as calculated by the doctor is 51 what should I do .I don't drink alcohol , don't smoke since last 12 years. I don't take outside foods but I have blood pressure for which I take medicine regularly, I have detected Dystolic Disfunction Grade 1 six months ago ... doctor told me to do angiography but I didn't. What should I do actually my creatinine is 1.38 detected 10 days ago before it was always below 1... Do advice me James and Dr RO
I am from the Philippines where can I buy the book"FACTS N LEARN ABOUT KIDNEY DISEASE"
The intermittent fasting dropped my creatinine from 309 to 175
Outstanding!!!
Wow!
James well done .you have good information.how can we talk privately
that is my #1 - we need to make sure we are following our doctors orders and taking the medications our body needs as directed. I used to be bad at always taking my meds, I might stop an antibiotic a couple days early just out of being lazy. But with CKD, we need to make sure and take all of our meds and only make changes when our doctors tell us. Thanks for sharing!
Dear Mr James,

What do you think about medicinal plants like ginsen. And other stuff that helps with imflammation ?
thanks you james as i have ms and celiac diease
Video #54 is very good. I have to reduce stress
Thanks so much forrrr tooo helpful information ❤
Glad it was helpful!

Dadvice, very very good to listen. Thank you a lot. A question ‘Is it good a eat an egg a day?
That is actually a tricky question. It isn't bad. What matters at the end of the day is eating a balanced diet that gives your body what it needs, and doesn't overburden your kidneys with excess or things you don't need. The good news is, that with portion control you can make almost anything fit into your diet. Here is a video and downloadable food list with a nutritional worksheet that I think will help: www.dadvicetv.com/food
Great vid bro - but bone broth - no animal protein?
I have 3a kidney disease . Is the ketoanalogue animo acid good for me.
Sharing is caring
Bless you 🙏
My doctor didn't tell me what stage I'm in, just that I have kidney damage there's nothing I can do about it but control my blood sugar.
My blood pressure is today
Thursday 14 first reading is 128/71 66 bpm
Thats great!
My gfr is 19 it improved by 2
What did you do?
James, is it safe to take collagen supplements?
This one has to be answered by your doctor - and they will need to know the source of the collagen supplements. Some are made with animal byproducts and can contain creatine and other things we don't want or need.
@@DADVICETV Thank you so much for replying to me so quickly, & thank you for your informative videos!
Thank you for your insights. Appreciate your work and concern...however, health professionals in the kidney area ... of course, is a luck of the draw.. contrary to what you had said, many are quite insightful and working hard to treat the kidney mystery... Cheers mate
Can you tell me some diet like which fruits n veggies are good to eat ?
I have a food list I used as a general shopping guide - you can download it from www.dadvicetv.com/food - it is a great starting place if you are not working with a renal dietitian yet. It does work best WITH a renal dietitian.
Dadvice TV - Kidney Health Coach thanku so much...My husband is suffering from CKD..i really don’t know do n don’ts like what to eat and what to not
can u tell us what supplements we can take for kidney health?
Supplements are to fill in where diet has a gap - so it is going to vary person to person. Your doctors (or dietitian) may recommend D3, CoQ10, Vitamin C, a B-Complex, or others - but it depends on what your body needs. Most kidney patients can benefit from a renal multivitamin (I use ProRenal+D) and Renadyl (a renal probiotic). You can learn more about those (and others) at www.dadvicetv.com/common-supplements
Just always make sure you are taking supplements for a reason - just adding them to your treatment without input from your doctors/dietitian can cause problems.
thanks coach ...
Then we can celebrate for the rest of our lives.
thanks!!!
Bactrim is no 1 drug NOT to take!
WRONG BUT MY COMPUTER IS FUNKY I WILL TRY AND REPOND LATER UNLESS IT DID GET POSTED
You are a real encouragement... I love your energy...
Have you ever tried baking soda to help improve kidney function? (sorry if you already talked about it in a video, I’m new here)
This is a very common question - and so many people pass Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) off as a "cure".
Is Baking soda safe for kidney disease
@@DADVICETV thanks.
