Saffy ❤ My suites got more of my DNA in it than I have 😅 it literally walks around on its own 😂😂
Train it to do bike maintenance and you're set 👍
@@SaffySprocket 🤣🤣👍
@@SaffySprocket Dear Saffy. I like your T-shirt in this video. Is your accent from North London?
Nikwax products have been around for donkey's years and are well-known in outdoor activities circles. Grainger's products are an alternative. They both have quite a range of specialised cleaning products, usually stocked by the likes of Cotswold Outdoors and Go Outdoors and other independents. Surprised Halfords stock it.
I've never known ANYONE make so much of a chore of something so simple 😂😂😂
I feel so much better about my ineptitude now 🎉🎉🎉
This was obviously, definitely, totally my intention, so, mission accomplished I guess? 😅
Rule No1, reguarly wash your kit to preserve its waterproof qualities.Nik Wax is good stuff.👍
NikWax is fab ;D
My first thought was noooo , you can't use a carpet cleaner, but seeing the amount of dirt that came out , i think you may have come up with a brilliant idea there Saffy. Maybe you should re-brand that carpet cleaner as Saffys bike gear cleaner ? You'd make a fortune 😂
😂😂😂 bike washer 😂
You may be the only UA-camr willing to do a video like this. ❤😂
😂😂😂😂 tasty tasty armpit water
I cannot believe I just watched 11 minutes of clothes watching 🤣🤣🤣 Damm great entertainment haha, a brilliant video.
😂😂😂😂 it's a level of fascination that's also disgust
Dear Saffy I love yah to bits for the way you throw yourself into these tasks it's amazing,
see yeah out there 😉😘
Chaos is the term you're looking for 😂
I love your kitchen very well presented and clean saffron well done regards Dave.❤
Thank you 😊 shame it didn't stay that way 😂😂😂😂
Now I am convinced that I will clean my gear properly at the end of the season. It is new and a nice light grey with blue applications. I must remember in november that it was that colour.
You’re going to look sparkly clean on the next ride Saffy❤
Thank you so much 😊
hello good afternoon Saffy yesterday I bought a new Revit suit and it can be washed with cold water and you have no problem greetings 😊 from Valencia
I've got grey camo textile trousers, they show dirt very quickly, I take the armour out of them and wash them in the washing machine, normal soap powder, they have lost the waterproofing especially in the groin area, but I feel better when I visit a friend and sitting on their sofa knowing my motorbike trousers are clean.
My mate who used to commute to work on a motorbike, got someone at work to powerhose his textile bike gear while wearing them. He was happy with that to keep them clean.
Hi Saffy, what a long process you put yourself through. I put my Gortex stuff in the washing machine using some technical cleaner, such as S100 on 30c temp and on a slow spin cycle, comes out like new. Thank you.
I've had a few people in the comments recommending the Nikwax tech wash, but I'll have to look into S100 too, thanks 😋❤️
At least we’ve got something to watch 👍😘
😂😂😂😂
Mad .
😂
Interesting! And creative! I just have someone hose me down with the garden hose, especially after riding in rain. Washing machine every leap year or so. The down side is I don't get any chocolate milk shake as a bonus.
It's never acceptable to miss out on choccy milk bonus 😤
@@SaffySprocket No, you're right! Shame on me! On the other hand: we can play water war with the garden hose after the cleaning job as a bonus. Or hmmm... maybe we could try a choccy-milk-war next time...🤔
the important thing is to keep the enthusiasm, continue to work very well, high quality and always think positively to work, I am very happy to see you
🤩
Looks pretty normal to me. I usually wash mine a couple of times a year, more often for my helmet liner. Good job! Take care.
😂😂😂 Way to go Staffy 👍❤️.
😂
Love the shirt. The clean one.
😂
Nice "Throwing a party" kitchen Saffy 😅 plenty of room for food 😊
I just filled the room with plants 😂 no time for people 😂😂😂😂
@@SaffySprocket True wisdom badge unlocked 🤣🤣🤣
Hi saffy loving your vlogs you should be a scientist ❤❤
I'd be a terrible one 😂
And so, a new business is born? Saffy's Kit Wash? To be honest, a trip down the car wash might have been easier! A quick splosh about, turn it inside out and walk through the car wash again? I always found that full leathers, after a tri[p to Le Mans, would get horrible. Then a hand wash with shampoo, followed by a good waxing session, when dry, usually saved the day.
I can't imagine the car wash employee's would be too pleased with me pressure washing myself 😂
Do you have particular brand of shampoo and wax that you'd recommend?
Shampoo - anything that left your leathers dandruff free was fine. As for a wax, well it had to be turtle wax to get a bullet proof finish! Seriously, any shampoo was fine if it smelt OK, and a good leather polish was good.
Probably just wrecked any waterproofing qualities, just use Tech Wash and then Tx Direct in the washing machine. The Tech Wash removes the detergents as the Tx Direct will not bond to them.
Hey! As I mentioned at the start :) I have a brand new motorcycle kit and wasn't worried if this one got damaged :)
Hi Saffy you have done a very important video on importance of Hygienic Dresses
For sure 😂
You have such nice neighbours? Using their kitchen to wash your kit? 😂😂😂❤x
😅 this is my kitchen, I moved house remember 😅😅😅 hence the new garage project
@@SaffySprocket lol 😂 I know I just pulling your leg 😂😂😂
Good idea Saffy. I guess I will just have to go out and buy a Vax now! I'm sure you will ride faster now your suit is lighter and more streamlined.
It's certainly more fun at the very least
I made the mistake of washing my textile jacket in the washing machine. Used a cool wash and Nikwax waterproofing liquid. Result, clean jacket, but now soaks up water, although I remain dry, but cold. It was a very old jacket. I know have a new one.
Like the carpet cleaning idea. Let us know how waterproof your gear is now 👍
Saffy. Biker must smell even in the picture..:D :D :D
😂😂😂
I use Nikwax stuff for my goretex kit in the washing machine. They also do a waterproofing spray to apply after. If your kit is holding dirt the dirt holds water which obviously doesn't help staying dry.
Kitchen looks nice lol
Nice video
I’ll have to check my kit 😮
Totally wash it😂
Saffy, maybe you've forgotten being 6 & having a blast jumping about in mud puddles? Of course life is a mucky place and that's where all the fun is found. Yes also your mum made you wash up & that's just the beautiful rhythm of life. Just think of that big vase of mucky water as a recording of how much fun you've had. Thank you for sharing the adventures. 😅
It's still gross 😂
And next week on Cooking For Bikers we'll be making fruit smoothies 🧋🧋🤣
😂😂😂
Nowt wrong with a sweaty arm pit saffron 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Riding through Luxemburg once my mate and I could smell what we thought was sewage. We got to the hotel several miles away and could still smell it. It turns out it may have been my jacket! We don't know how it got like it, but it stayed outside the hotel rooms for the rest of the trip!
Could literally smell this comment. How long was the rest of the trip? 😃
Mine would be a lot worse than that ,haha. Now I wear leather trousers, they are easier to just wipe down with some leather balm.
Ah but leather is naff for touring in
Nutter!😊
😂😂😂😂
Hi Saffy never seen it done by a carpet cleaner cool . I throw my pants and jacket in a wash machine cold water on gentle and stain remover does a great job and hang it on a clothesline . You are funny lots of dirt from the outside air You did a great job on it !!
It was a good job, but a grim job 😂😂😂
Saffy,is John Cleese your uncle? Carpethcleaner 😂 .
Your video was funny,I am ready to start riding again 😊
😂😂😂 thanks and yay get riding!
Last time I had to buy a new washing machine I specifically bought one with a big drum and outdoor gear wash cycles. You can stick all sorts in it. Money well spent. When I used to be a London despatch rider, used to get home and my face though the helmet opening used to be black. Makes you think what are you breathing in?
I've been to London before, blown my nose after and the tissue was black ☠️☠️☠️
Like the sorcerers apprentice, water everywhere. Wait till you do the liner in the helmet, that gets really stinky.
Ahaha thanks :)
I just chuck my motorcycle stuff in the washing machine with regular detergent for color stuff and dryer (low heat), the helmet cheek pads I stick in one of those nets that protect sweaters and I let those air dry. I do this about twice a year for each of my warm and winter set.
Yeh, I really need to start getting on top of it!
Barf. Still clean and rdy for action!
Ready for more adventure sweat 😃
Mmm 'nice'! So pleased I'd eaten prior to watching. 😄
I dare say my textiles are probably in a similar state, pretty sure it's not the armour giving my textile jeans their rigidity! 🤣
I vow to keep my new RoadSkin stuff better though, it's way too nice to let get like my old stuff currently still is! (old stuff is the attic's issue though right now! 😁)
Don't lie, it definitely enhanced your dining experience 😂
@@SaffySprocket damn, you got me! I had to pause it while I went for snacks before continuing with the video! 😄 I definitely wouldn't want to tackle mine though. I said about the jeans, but had forgotten about one of my old jackets. That thing is proper old now & the only kind of 'washing' it has ever faced is when I'd get caught out riding in the rain. Don't think it would survive a clean now! 😁
I have to wash my suit about 4 times a year once you have removed all the body armour it goes into the washing machine ok. Though it does feel strange putting the suit into a washing machine so far it has come out ok after 4years of use . The main hassle is getting it dry which due to gortex can take some time and you sometimes have to turn the suit inside out. Just be grateful you aren’t having to clean and re-wax an old waxed cotton suit like I had when I started riding.
That does sound like a nightmare. When did you first start riding, and what was it like trying to clean the waxed cotton suits?
@@SaffySprocket I started riding in 1980 ,wax cotton belstaff jackets & trousers were about the best waterproof at the time but they were greasy ,smelly and the wax rubbed off on everything you touched. To re wax the jacket you got a tin of the wax and heated it up and painted it on ,it got everywhere and it smelled so bad I had to do it outside. I was so glad when both over suits and reliable textile jackets came out in the mid eighties.
Do the Shake and Vac and put the freshness back. 😂
😂😂😂 suits live longer with caaalgon
@@SaffySprocket😂
Quite the experiment. Some times it is better Not to know.
Would have liked to see the bottle after the particulate had settled over a week or two.
Time to get out and get dirty again!
It settled over night, was a whole chunk of gunk
After commuting in Paris mine are minging. Though thank you for reminding me! Tech Wash and TX Direct - both from Nikwax are *_the_* products to use so you chose the right one at Halfords. The TX Direct reproofs the cloths to make them waterproof again.
I know you said it wouldn't fit in your washing machine, but how small is it? Our washing machine is tiny and it'll do one item at a time. Now I've seen you use a carpet cleaner, that may be the way to go for the linings and waterproof nylon over jacket and trousers to "protect" the seams...
I could fit the trousers in but not the jacket, I was also concerned by how heavy the clothing was when it was wet, don't think I'd want to put it in the machine in future, it would be like washing bricks
I gotta clean mine now lol... yuck! New place looks nice btw saff 😊
Thank you 🥰
❤❤❤
🥰
I'll be honest I didn't think of using a carpet cleaner like that. I have a big washing machine and dryer. I just put in on heavy soil and run it through twice. lol
To be honest, it's probably better to run it through the machine, it was fun getting to see all the dirt but wouldn't want to do it again 😂
@@SaffySprocket Did look like a lot of work, but it was interesting to watch!
It’s not strange brand. Nikwax is good. I used exactly the same before winter + Waterpooof after washing. Worked brilliant.
I’ve also been using Nikwax for my nubuck leather boots for 20 years.
Yeh, I never really thought about waterproofing again!
I'm so glad I can fit mine in my washing machine 🤢
Nikwax tech wash is the dogs thingys when it comes to washing waterproof gear 😎
If you're intending to use it regularly it's cheaper to buy a 5l online.
I've had a few people recommending this so I've ordered some, thanks!
Actually it’s a genius idea 😂
😂 full of them I am
Perhaps invest in a large washing machine, and build a drying room with a dehumidifier?
It's on the cards after I move again :)
what on Earth did I just watch lol 🤣this is epic on a massive scale lol I have never ever seen motorcycle clothing cleaned like this haha well done Saffy, but I think you have just killed your clothing, Nikwax tech wash needs to be used in a washing machine, or in a bath tub, as it needs to penetrate the membrane and clean it all the way through, this looks like you are just cleaning the outer layer, you will find out when you get caught in a heavy shower or prolonged rain if you have killed it, because it probably won't breath well and the rain won't bead off the surface. I use to sell this stuff out of my outdoors shop, this has only cleaned the outer shell and not all through the clothing. Manufacturer send this great person a new suit pronto.
As I mentioned at the start, I have new kit and won't be using this anymore :)
@@SaffySprocket great to hear on the new kit, sorry Saffy totally forgot lol. I did enjoy this video though, that was great entertainment, your laughter and giggles is contagious, all the best
Soo that murky water was full of Scotland, ireland and several countries in euope. Not too bad.
To be honest, I did expect it to be worst ahaha but it wasn't that bad
Techwash are really good they do a waterproofing also i use this on my gortex and brings it up really well
I've just been googling it! I'm going to have to try some of it on more of my gear soon!
@@SaffySprocket be much quicker than the carpet.cleaner but good thinking mind just don't wash stuff above 30 most bike gear don't like it
Think of all that thermal insulation you’ve just washed out 😱😱😱😱😎😎😎😎😎😎
Nooooo 🤢
Stick it in the washer like it tells you!! It’s really really simple.. then use the reproofer! In the washer.. if you don’t know what to do try looking it up on UA-cam. Stuart Fillingham has done a really good vid on it.
It didn't fit in the washer :)
@@SaffySprocket not even one item at a time?
Erm….maybe you could remove the armour first?…It squishes much better, and you can shove it in then. (Go on, ask me how I know….)
nikwax is the correct substance to wash your kit in definately do not use washing powder wrecks the waterproofing
At the end of the day, you did the European trip and others, so it got all the muck from the falls. Easier to remove all the armour and machine wash
Somebody just called it a "liquid souvenir" which is one way of looking at it I suppose 😂
I find my leathers nowhere near as practical as boxer shorts. I can wear boxers for 4 days (normal, back to front, inside out, inside out back to front), but leather just won't fold that easily.
😂 thank god is all I say
This video is proof, if ever we needed it, that even the most mindlessly simple 20th century first world country task such as washing clothes in a washing machine can be made painfully difficult if only you put enough effort into it. There was an attempt I suppose, at the absolute least. Just please, for your sake do it the proper way next time like a normal person and you won't need to have a water fight in your kitchen and get the side covered in thousands of miles of road muck 😂
😂😂😂😂 All part of the fun
I've never washed my bike gear. Which explains why I never get people hanging around me talking crap 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
Great job saffy but you have only cleaned the outside of your jacket and trousers but what about the inside 😂😂of them?? Oopsy.
I took the inner later out to run through the machine :)
Nik wax or storm don’t use detergent fabric conditioner there’s a good vid on motorlegend
Oooooh
Just look at it as a liquid souvenir of all the places you have explored 🤢😂
"Liquid souvenir" 🤢
I dont know if it would work with motorcycle gear, but I took my suit to the cleaners and they wanted £20 to clean it, so I gave it to the charity shop next door, they had it cleaned and I bought it back for £4.50 !
Quality 😂
😂😂😂😂 I've volunteered in a charity shop, for the love of god, wash anything you buy there first, they just fabreeze and give it a once over with a hand steamer
Maybe it’s the dye out the suit?
I thought that, until I smelled it 🤢
That's a couple of hours of your life that you will never get back 😢. Seems like a pain in the Arris too. Think I'll just go and buy some new gear 😂😂. 🤘
It's something to do on a Sunday I guess 😂
I’m just wondering why you didn’t take out protectors and it would have to fit to washing machine. My jacket is size and has all protectors which can be easily removed - and this is cheap Adventure jacket.
Oh! You did! later on in the video.
Heh :D
😍❤️🤪
🥰
Good idea never given much thought really fortunately my washing machine is big enough .but one piece at a time but for you it might be safer for your lovely wood top to take your suit to the clearer .now think about your helmet yuk 😂😂
😂😂😂 I dread to think, might do my helmet next
