I think it's fine that this is getting sold on Steam. Scott made a game which is really unique, and in the first moment you would think that anything similar is a fangame and shouldn't be sold in any way without Scott's permission. However, technically Scott made a new genre of haunted animatronics and while this game really reminds of Sister Location it's still its own game with its own characters (even if similar to Sister Location), its own story and its own gameplay, its own assets and its own code (at least I hope so). Yeah, if I’m thinking about what a FNaF fangame is, I think it needs to use intellectual property that actually belongs to FNaF, (IE characters, locations, etc…), not just be in a similar style. 7:05 just judging by the video I think it did. The game says "move mouse fast" when shining it on the woodens. Personally when I heard "mvoe mouse fast" I immidiately thought of wiggling it.
Not going to lie, the mechanics are clearly wonky. And the game is overall unfair. But the models and renders of the scenes are pretty beautiful. Mostly the clock level has a very pleasing look to it and a cool atmosphere
Ahh i remember this game from 2017 This game and Circus baby's nightmare world was a pretty amazingly made game which emulates the fnaf feeling pretty well Imo it doesn't do any harm than being a mildly challenging and annoying games at times, and there isn't anything too dramatic in it nor with its devs that "ruins" the franchise I'd say keep it, if someone buys it it's probably because they have loose change and want to pay for a fnaf fan game
Scott doesn’t own the use of animatronics. The mascot was it’s own design and the wooden figures are common to artists doing pose sketches. It had its own mechanics so I think it works as it’s own game. Probably too expensive though especially for it not working properly
Here's the thing it is clearly inspired by Fnaf but as long as it makes no direct references and/or mentions to Fnaf itself it makes this a legitimate game as long as the creators don't directly call this a fan game, animatronics were only popularized by Fnaf in the horror game genre and such, Scott does not own them however. Edit: Doesn’t change that the game is bad though.
did some quick math at 8:37. that was 20 frames on youtube, endless inside runs at 60-120 fps, so he had a third of a second at best and at worst 1/6 of a second.
The topic of this game definitely intrigues me, but I actually wanted to comment to tell you congrats on 40K! The surprise I had when I heard that you've been making videos since 10 was something I wasn't expecting XD I really like your style of video, BTW- good luck with your future! I hope you thrive!
I know a lot of people defend the game saying it’s only inspired by fnaf and not a fan game, but I think it’s important to keep in mind just how much is being lifted directly from fnaf. The “woodens” are mini-reenas, the animatronics look in the same style as fnaf, the building designs could easily be a dupe of sister location, etc etc. You don’t have to use the same characters and names as something to be ripping it off. Like if we saw people fighting in space with light sticks we would immediately think it’s just like Star Wars, y’know? It’s fine to take inspiration, but this is just a bit too far, and since all SC asked is do what ever you want w his ip as long as you don’t charge for it, I think it’s fair to say 8 dollars is a little outrageous, especially given the quality of the game. If the game dev just changed a few things, it’d be fine. Still not worth 8 dollars, but better than being hated for being a paid “fan game”.
"Like if we saw people fighting in space with light sticks we would immediately think it’s just like Star Wars" Small issue: The concept of "people fighting in space with light sticks" predates Star Wars by several decades. Do the names Isaac Asimov and Gordon R. Dickson ring a bell? Yeah, George Lucas ripped off from them according to your logic.
This seems like a good game but there some problems them being: Balancing issues Confusing tutorials Missing information Nothing extra after finishing the game (from what i know) And hard to undertsand mechanics If they parched this game and remade some stuff it might be worth like 4-8 dollars
1:26 Another way of putting this is "The one thing that matters in a game is bad in this one, but if you can look past that it isn't bad". The best graphics in the world don't do anything if the gameplay is trash
The second you said you beat LASO H2 I subscribed. I have endless respect for people how have. The patience, the endurance, the skill it's all something that I strive for.
They definitely have to redesign some characters. Like the wooden. And maybe change the look of a few props. But otherwise I don’t think it has to be removed from steam. What people have to remember is that Scott doesn’t own the „Pizzeria/random location with deadly Animatronics“ idea. Sure his game made the idea popular, but it’s not a part of the fnaf franchise.
Duh it can stay on Steam. If games had to be taken down because of similarities so many large companies would have their way with the market. Inspired works or spiritual successors would not be allowed to exist as paid products. And if they companies can remove games from store fronts, they probably can use their powers to remove fan games that are only inspired. Nintendo already removes fan games that use their properties. Imagine if they could remove games that just look similar and play similar to their games? Tbf, I think a lot of younger gamers have a "it's a fan game and shouldn't be monetized" because they've grown up in an age of internet we're so many good free fan games have been made and it's set a precedent. It probably also stems from the "it's an indie game so it should cost less" mentality. Either way, don't sell yourself short. If you make a good game, don't feel ashamed to charge money for it unless it blatantly uses copyrighted assets. That will get you in trouble.
Well abt a fan game should not be monetozed - yes tjeres an issue with fnaf fan games, they are not allowed to be monetozef acyually. However this isnt a fan game i guess? Idk
The game development industry is basically a giant sweatshop, so in a way it's normal for people to think spending months into a project doesn't deserve any monetary compensation bc it's a "fangame", but then those people may not have worked a day in their life yet, so it'd be understandable. Otherwise, it's as normal as unfair, comparable to game companies merrily hoarding the ideas and work of their employees bc of intellectual property and what not. But to go to the point to beg for people not to buy the game before even explaining why... Whatever, I'm out of this place before it really pisses me off, sorry to rant on your comment
Though it uses similar concepts to the FNaF series (point and click survival, haunted animatronics, are style direction, etc.), I would say it's allowed to stay up for money, as long as it doesn't use any characters, locations, or items from FNaF. And as long as it does that, too, it's also not necessarily a fangame- it's just inspired by FNaF
It's kind of a shame this turned out so poorly. Seeing the "Mystery Case Files" as part of the inspirations is kind of cool. I love those games, especially 13th Skull. It's a really fun series of games, and while its mostly Hidden Object 'Horror/Mystery,' I think it does mesh well with the general idea of FNAF. This game could have been really good. I hope there will be more 'Mystery Case Files Fnaf' someday. The MCF games have great atmosphere and environments. First one I ever played was the Banshee one, and I remember it well. First game of the genre I played, too.
To me a fan game takes characters or story elements from the original series and either expands upon it or reimagines it. I don't believe game mechanics, genres, settings can be protected under copyright. Games like Minecraft wouldn't exist if that were the case. The only thing Scott really owns are the characters, brand names, locations, whatever he made solely for his games. Technically Candy's, Popgoes (after removing Shadow Bonnie), Flumpty's could all have been sold from the start because though they share mechanics, they have their own characters, locations, story, ect. So yeah this game can be on steam if it wants.
My 12 yo sibling found the trick to phase 2. Both switches when activated make their respective number add 1 digit, but make the other number in the screens go down by 1. So you must make both equal. My sibling says that the only way to do so (or probably the easiest one) is to make both screens dial 5.
I just randomly remembered this game exists, saw 8BitRyan's gameplay and he had a bug where the spider-esque doll runs towards you during the ballerina dancing, it loops running against you a few times whenever you look up
There is talent behind the game which is very clear to me. Hopefully the upcoming sequel has more balanced gameplay cause I would love to cover it in a video and show how the sequel improves upon the originals faults.
0:30 actually (i dont know if that count) there is another fnaf "fan game" that you have to pay called "case animatronics" that was a free room game, he was originally a fnaf fan game but the game was so unique that is become a separate game on steam so much so that he even has a sequel "case animatronics 2" and the game is so good the gameplay is good and the jumpscares are amazing.
5:40 I know they're probably just dangling nonsensical wires but, I can only see "dying flea in robot pubes simulator". Which, gotta admit, not a thing I ever wanted to think about. Kinda angry at my brain tbh.
10:05 i'm gonna have a bit of a controversial opinion i think it's fine it's obviously inspired by FNaF, but I wouldn't say it's to the degree of copyright infringement
this game LOOKS really good. but i can imagine after playing it, i would hate it. this should at least be free. not only is it very much a fangame, it probably isnt worth the price at all.
AND EVEN THEN, this should definitely not be free. This developer has clearly put a lot of effort into this game and making it free would be incredibly unreasonable
@@idoblenderstuffs no, if a game is stated to be a fangame officially, it should be free unless they have a good reason. if it's NOT stated to be a FNAF fangame then they have every right to make it paid Besides, Some of the fanverse fangames are gonna be paid right? nobody has said shit about that so? even if this was a fangame (which it isn't), they haven't used any of scott's assets so there should be no reason that they can't have it cost money.
@@fluffed5066 it says "inspired by fnaf" in the credits, which is actually the same wording that some fnaf fangames do (like tyke and sons im pretty sure) so even though the creator didnt use the words fan game, it still counts as one. the fanverse games have scott's blessing to do so and are actually really good and worth the price. i was being quite nice to this game compared to most people on youtube who are talking about how horrible it is. although yes they are legally allowed to make money off of it, since theres none of fnafs characters, that still doesnt mean it wasnt a shitty move to make it paid. the game isnt worth paying for, or at least make it 3 dollars like all the official fnaf games instead of being three times the price of them.
Here’s a few ways they could fix this phase: 1. Cut down the time to just 3 minutes, 6 minutes is way too long for how bullshit this is. 2. Allow you a second or two to dodge the woodens coming from the ceiling, just like with the ones that charge you 3. Slow down the speed of the wooden ballerina so it can give you time to get rid of the woodens on the bottom
Despite the video topic, I just want to say that this channel just makes me RELIVE the old fnaf. I have quit the fnaf community since fnaf VR and haven't been interested with fnaf again.. until now. I guess my way of dealing with nostalgia will be joining the community once again. And just now I realized why I quit the community.. FNAF seemed dead to me. But now, now I'm not so sure.. The fanverse stuff and fnaf+ look pretty much alive and active! I can't wait to play fanverse games and especially FNAF+ for that nostalgic but refreshing experience. And all of this thanks to this channel and new amazing TLT song, that reminded me that fnaf is a thing.
The game looks good and actually peaked my interest a bit. However, if the dev could tweak the game a bit then that would be great. Also, if I’m not mistaken (though, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. I am just saying what I heard long ago) Scott didn’t allow fnaf fan games to be paid or have in app purchases (Again, I may be wrong about this) so if the dev could at least lower the price or make it free then that would be another bonus.
Honestly if it was gonna be actually marketed they should've just made their own art style and characters, actually selling it as a product while blatantly even stating at the end credits that it was inspired off of another game is just a lawsuit waiting to happen, especially when certain characters look practically identical to one another that someone who's seen the originals even just a few times could tell where the copy was traced from
I think the reason that this game was able to marketed and sold for 8 dollars, is because while this game is similar towards SL, it technically doesn't infringe on Scott's IP. Remember, while Scott does hold the rights towards the FNAF franchise, he doesn't hold the right to the whole "deadly animatronics" concept. Not trying to defend this person, but I'm just playing the Devil's advocate here.
What stinks is that under the fnaf inspiration credit, it also says it was inspired by Mystery Case Files, which is sad because sense those games aren't nearly that bad. I would like to see people like Dawko try and play a game like 13th Skull, Shadow Lake, and/or Dire Grove. Feels right up their alley.
Hey there man I just found your channel and the thought the game looked interesting as soon as I saw that human spider looking thing I had a wave of nostalgia thank you for bringing back memories cuz this is why I love fnaf, this game is trash yes but I love fnaf cuz it brings out some amazing work so thank you for reminding me why I should Carry on my fnaf fan game 😊
the thing is, FNAF as a concept is basically "Spooky Animatronics try to kill you" so no, it shouldn't be taken down, because Scott simply cannot copyright such a vague and unoriginal concept. if he tried, places like chuck e. cheese, Disney world and a dozen others would try to fight HIM in court, and he'd lose a ridiculous amount of money. now IF this game had assets that were originated from, based upon or simply looked too similar to his IP THEN he'd have grounds to take it down, but seeing as it doesn't, he won't.
Scott wouldn't be able to take it down if he tried. You can't patent or copyright game mechanics. Unless the creator used actual FNAF content in making this, Scott wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
Even though it's similar, it doesn't use any copyright characters from fnaf, and matpat said it, you can make a fnaf style game, scott can't request it to he taken off, he can't have a copyright of an idea or style, otherwise the game industry would be full of monopolies of specific generes
not really a fnaf fangame tbh. maybe it was at one point in development, but in the state you played it in, it's distinct enough in gameplay, characters, and story to qualify as its own beast entirely. i know this has been said but i think it's important to reiterate.
Talking about the game not explaining everything in the tips, security breach literally didnt explain that you had to use the camera to scare Roxy away in the afton bossfight so..
They put this game up with a price tag but couldn't be bothered to proof-read the in-game text? The very first part of the game is a wall of text, and making sure that was done properly was too much?
It does have the right to be sold as it has none of the characters as FNaF. Sure, it was heavily inspired but Scott doesn't necessarily own the genre. So as long as it has origional characters, it kind of can get away with it.

Tldr, it's inspired, not copied.
@@thatrandonamedrandy it is not like comparing ori to metroid. those are like completely different.
This is not.
This game does have a lot of potential to be an amazing fan game! The main problem is the insane difficulty and how long some points can be
7:05 just judging by the video I think it did. The game says "move mouse fast" when shining it on the woodens. Personally when I heard "mvoe mouse fast" I immidiately thought of wiggling it.
Agreed.
The game developer was just like “eh they’ll figure it out”
no instructions, just tosses you to the wolves
Not going to lie, the mechanics are clearly wonky. And the game is overall unfair. But the models and renders of the scenes are pretty beautiful. Mostly the clock level has a very pleasing look to it and a cool atmosphere
Whether or not you think its good or bad, I don't think Scott has the right to take it down.
Again,they are monetazing IP.
It's like if you made a game,and then a fucker grabs it,changes it a little,and *SELLS* it.
Ahh i remember this game from 2017
This game and Circus baby's nightmare world was a pretty amazingly made game which emulates the fnaf feeling pretty well
Imo it doesn't do any harm than being a mildly challenging and annoying games at times, and there isn't anything too dramatic in it nor with its devs that "ruins" the franchise
I'd say keep it, if someone buys it it's probably because they have loose change and want to pay for a fnaf fan game
❤
Bruh the "Wooden" has to be the worst fan character design for FNAF I've ever seen.
I remember when Dawko played this. I don't think I have ever seen him more bored and frustrated at a game.
Scott doesn’t own the use of animatronics. The mascot was it’s own design and the wooden figures are common to artists doing pose sketches. It had its own mechanics so I think it works as it’s own game. Probably too expensive though especially for it not working properly
It's great to see your channel growing, because this truly is quality content!
Edit: Doesn’t change that the game is bad though.
did some quick math at 8:37. that was 20 frames on youtube, endless inside runs at 60-120 fps, so he had a third of a second at best and at worst 1/6 of a second.
dawko trying not to curse was the most mildly funny thing in this video
Cool Video!
The topic of this game definitely intrigues me, but I actually wanted to comment to tell you congrats on 40K! The surprise I had when I heard that you've been making videos since 10 was something I wasn't expecting XD
I really like your style of video, BTW- good luck with your future! I hope you thrive!
7:33 that was the most submissive jumpscare noise ever
"Like if we saw people fighting in space with light sticks we would immediately think it’s just like Star Wars"
Small issue: The concept of "people fighting in space with light sticks" predates Star Wars by several decades. Do the names Isaac Asimov and Gordon R. Dickson ring a bell? Yeah, George Lucas ripped off from them according to your logic.
This seems like a good game but there some problems them being:
Balancing issues
Confusing tutorials
Missing information
Nothing extra after finishing the game (from what i know)
And hard to undertsand mechanics
If they parched this game and remade some stuff it might be worth like 4-8 dollars
The character development of Trace having legs is crazy
1:26 Another way of putting this is "The one thing that matters in a game is bad in this one, but if you can look past that it isn't bad". The best graphics in the world don't do anything if the gameplay is trash
Halo 2 on laso?! Dude that’s insane! The only thing I have worth bragging about is beating all the games on legendary solo.
0:29 CASE: Animatronics is actually the first fangame to cost money, it came out on Steam on August 3rd 2016.
5:38 i thought you were on a scalp fighting off headlice
oh my god I spat my water out 😂
0:55 Who said I'm going to pay ? 😈😈
The second you said you beat LASO H2 I subscribed. I have endless respect for people how have. The patience, the endurance, the skill it's all something that I strive for.
I mean eh,
It's all just learning layouts and enemy positions.
That's why people think halo 2 legendary is hard, news flash it isn't.
Well he also beat post shift 2
Well
abt a fan game should not be monetozed - yes tjeres an issue with fnaf fan games, they are not allowed to be monetozef acyually.
Scott doesn't own the IP of "Spooky Robots Try to murder you", So as far as the law is concerned its fine.
5:59 ignore my friends goofy ahhhh laugh
It's kind of a shame this turned out so poorly. Seeing the "Mystery Case Files" as part of the inspirations is kind of cool. I love those games, especially 13th Skull. It's a really fun series of games, and while its mostly Hidden Object 'Horror/Mystery,' I think it does mesh well with the general idea of FNAF. This game could have been really good.
I hope there will be more 'Mystery Case Files Fnaf' someday. The MCF games have great atmosphere and environments. First one I ever played was the Banshee one, and I remember it well. First game of the genre I played, too.
the bit in 6:12 just kind of reminds me of hair and lice 💀
bro started his dream at 10 yet im here at 16 wonderin how tf im meant to make a fnaf fangame all by myself.
1:40 WAIT, AM I OLDER THAN YOU? I'VE BEEN OLDER THAN YOU THE WHOLE TIME? HOW CAN SOMEBODY YOUNGER THAN ME BE MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN ME? AAAAAAAAA
1:08 wait what
The claim of it being more rage inducing then gravemind LASO is the most insane expectations ever set and this somehow met all of them
Oh dang, I vaguely remembered watching a few people play the intro parts of this back in the day. Guess I now know why they only did a part one lol...
5:58 uh oh, it’s a tickle me Elmo!
If Dawko is done with your game, you know it‘s a bad game.
7:12 just imagine poofesure playing this part
Wasn't one of Scott's rules that fangames shouldn't cost money?
Yeah but.
Using lawyer methods, it's not "technically" a fangame.
1:07 Damn boy! That was some unexpected news, but congrats on beating it! May the Sniper Jackals rest in trash where they belong.
Popgoes has Jeremy from FNAF 2
The game literally tells you to shake the mouse. It's not perfect English but it still tells you XD
Ooh, redesign! I really like it :D
Really quality content.
My 12 yo sibling found the trick to phase 2.
Both switches when activated make their respective number add 1 digit, but make the other number in the screens go down by 1.
So you must make both equal.
My sibling says that the only way to do so (or probably the easiest one) is to make both screens dial 5.
I personally think It's fine since they gave credit to Scott, but they should definitely look into better coding of the woodens and better tips
1:08 Idk much about Halo but that must be a Great achievement to instantly turn everybody on your side in an argument lol.
The artist of the game managed to perfectly recreate Scott's art style and that takes some talent.
I just randomly remembered this game exists, saw 8BitRyan's gameplay and he had a bug where the spider-esque doll runs towards you during the ballerina dancing, it loops running against you a few times whenever you look up
Its a shame. There was a lot of potential in this game. These things could have been solved with playtesters
There is talent behind the game which is very clear to me. Hopefully the upcoming sequel has more balanced gameplay cause I would love to cover it in a video and show how the sequel improves upon the originals faults.
1:09 God bless 😭
LASO master was the biggest pain in the ass to get out of any achievement I have ever tried to get in a video game
“Mom can we have fnaf”
“But son we already have fnaf at home”
Fnaf at home:
this game LOOKS really good. but i can imagine after playing it, i would hate it.
this should at least be free. not only is it very much a fangame, it probably isnt worth the price at all.
It isn’t a fan game though, they were just inspired by the FNAF series.
Regarding the price, I would have to play it to have a valid opinion on it
AND EVEN THEN, this should definitely not be free. This developer has clearly put a lot of effort into this game and making it free would be incredibly unreasonable
@@fluffed5066 if thats your opinion then every fangame ever should be paid
@@idoblenderstuffs no, if a game is stated to be a fangame officially, it should be free unless they have a good reason.
if it's NOT stated to be a FNAF fangame then they have every right to make it paid
Besides, Some of the fanverse fangames are gonna be paid right? nobody has said shit about that so?
even if this was a fangame (which it isn't), they haven't used any of scott's assets so there should be no reason that they can't have it cost money.
@@fluffed5066
it says "inspired by fnaf" in the credits, which is actually the same wording that some fnaf fangames do (like tyke and sons im pretty sure) so even though the creator didnt use the words fan game, it still counts as one.
the fanverse games have scott's blessing to do so and are actually really good and worth the price. i was being quite nice to this game compared to most people on youtube who are talking about how horrible it is.
although yes they are legally allowed to make money off of it, since theres none of fnafs characters, that still doesnt mean it wasnt a shitty move to make it paid. the game isnt worth paying for, or at least make it 3 dollars like all the official fnaf games instead of being three times the price of them.
Here’s a few ways they could fix this phase:
1. Cut down the time to just 3 minutes, 6 minutes is way too long for how bullshit this is.
2. Allow you a second or two to dodge the woodens coming from the ceiling, just like with the ones that charge you
3. Slow down the speed of the wooden ballerina so it can give you time to get rid of the woodens on the bottom
Man I remember watching dawko play this game back then
Despite the video topic, I just want to say that this channel just makes me RELIVE the old fnaf.
Holy shit you completed halo 2 on laso. Mad respect dude, that is absolutely incredible
“Focus the light to the woodens and then move fast the mouse to destroy them” by far the funniest crap I’ve seen today.
The game looks good and actually peaked my interest a bit. However, if the dev could tweak the game a bit then that would be great. Also, if I’m not mistaken (though, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. I am just saying what I heard long ago) Scott didn’t allow fnaf fan games to be paid or have in app purchases (Again, I may be wrong about this) so if the dev could at least lower the price or make it free then that would be another bonus.
as someone with awful anger issues, there is absolutely no way I could play this
Reminder that Scott didn't make the horror genre, he just popularized it.
But yeah, this game is trash.
He didn’t popularise it lol. If anything did in recent years, slender did. Scott made ‘horror’ for babies
"Not trying to defend this person"
bro you make it sound like a person behind that game drowns puppies or something XD
You bringing up the fact that you best halo 2 laso made me subscribe instantly. Love the content man keep it up
That foxy ripoff character looks like the NSFW version.
Yike.
Which One?
FNAF fangame made by ea
Scott wouldn't be able to take it down if he tried. You can't patent or copyright game mechanics. Unless the creator used actual FNAF content in making this, Scott wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
I think it's good enough visually to stay on steam, but it would be cool if this video got seen by the dev and they fixed the gameplay
Five nights with freddy: brother location.
honestly plain, you are underated and funny. im subbing
Eh, this game has enough of it's own identity to be it's own game
It's just unfortunate that it doesn't seem like an actually good game lol
They put this game up with a price tag but couldn't be bothered to proof-read the in-game text? The very first part of the game is a wall of text, and making sure that was done properly was too much?
It does have the right to be sold as it has none of the characters as FNaF. Sure, it was heavily inspired but Scott doesn't necessarily own the genre. So as long as it has origional characters, it kind of can get away with it.
To be fair, fnaf games look like the type of games you'd find on flash, rest it's soul...
The original game costed $7.99 until 2017 Scott changed it to $3.99
1:09 now beat it without the flashlight invis skull for a free 20k from Charlie critical himself
