      Well aside from all the cheating stuff, darvish was the main culprit as he performed poorly in both game 3 and 7 putting his team in almost insurmountable holes in each and only lasting a few innings. The fact that they had to use the bullpen so much in game 3 (his first start which lasted maybe a few innings) was the reason they were so spent in game 5, indirectly causing the loss in that game as well. Darvish isnt solely to blame but hes easily the top with maybe dave roberts.

      @@tbewin1z143 It's very clear that they were stealing signs in Game 7 at Dodger Stadium. Look at this at bat. Gurriel, who saw the fewest pitches per AB in the ENTIRE MLB in 2017, manages to work a THIRTEEN pitch at bat, fouling off every pitch anywhere near the zone. From a statistical standpoint, that is so unlikely as to be almost impossible. I would not be surprised to find out that this is the longest AB of Gurriel's entire career. That doesn't happen by coincidence. The cheating continued here as well.

      Kershaw threw 51 off speed pitches, and the Astros swung and missed at NONE of them. Someone ran a computer sim, and the result was that the odds of that happening were approximately 128,000 to 1. So they could play 30 times a year for over 4000 years, and maybe it happens once. That's how much the cheating impacted the game. It's not even baseball anymore.

    Darvish had to throw a lot of pitches before he can get him out

    • @drbryant23
      @drbryant23 Рік тому

      This is statistically improbable. Gurriel saw the fewest pitches per AB in the entire MLB in 2017. Darvish has the highest K rate among righthanders in MLB history (!) The odds of a thirteen pitch at bat happening must be less than 1 in 100,000. The only plausible answer is cheating. Horrible and not even baseball at this point. Gurriel, Altuve and Bregman deserve the 2022 Chip, but 2017 is forever tainted, like a Sammy Sosa home run.

    • @itstino5218

      @@drbryant23 you can say that but baseball is baseball dude, didn’t yuli win the batting title in 2021 and the next year hit like .240? remember when the phillies broke world series home run record and the next day get no hit? yeah baseball is baseball man

    • @drbryant23
      @drbryant23 Рік тому

      @@itstino5218 It’s not the same. Trying to predict what an opposing pitcher will throw is one of, if not THE key element of the game. By using cameras and a signaling system, the Astros cheating system made it unnecessary to study detailed scouting reports of pitcher tendencies, or to stay up late studying film. The cheating meant that a guy like Darvish, with the highest K rate of any righthander in MLB history, was unable to generate any swinging strikes; resulting in the only two games of a 240-game career where he had no strikeouts. The cheating system resulted in the Astros suddenly “figuring out” Darvish after getting only one hit against him in 7 innings at Minute Maid four months earlier, right before they started the cheating. The cheating resulted in Bregman, who has stolen only two bases in the three seasons since the cheating was revealed, feeling confident enough to steal THIRD base in the first inning of game 7 of a World Series. Unless he knew that an off speed pitch was coming, he would never do that.
      It’s just no longer baseball at that point.

    Darvish is a good pitcher, but he was tipping off. Even I noticed it relatively easily before reading about it: when he receives signs from the catcher, Darvish holds the Ball in his fastball grip. If there is no movement to change that grip when in his glove: fastball. If movement: slider. He didn t lose the world series to himself, but its a beginners mistake on the grandest stage, for all the marbles
