my new hobby: watching people react to Tim Foust's voice
Was so damn funny!
Same
Same. For days on end
LOL
Absolutely
I've seen them live three times. All three times Tim has literally shaken the building with his low notes. Completely unassisted beyond the volume provided by the sound system.
Also, ten years in and I've just learned to accept that Adam (the beatboxer) swallowed an entire orchestra at some point in his life and just lets out random bits of impossible from time to time.
Adam is also a 2x champion beatboxer and didn't learn how to beatbox until Chris started this group. Chris is now doing his own solo career.
He blows subwoofers. Fully blows them out. On the regular.
Yes! Been there! 😍 hopefully see them again soon.
I love your comment, Tammy!
I was watching reactions to home free, and one of them said and I quote, "Adam must have chewed on a symbol as a child" I laughed my head off afterwards.
The bass is Tim Foust, he is a beast! But no one seems to notice, after he sings "...while I am sleeping in my grave" alone, when he repeats and the others join him, he DROPS AN OCTAVE!!
One of my favorite parts of the song!
Thank you!! There are almost zero reactors or anyone really that notices that.
@@averageatbest8146 I have not seen one reactor catch that, and it's depressing!
There was one and I can't remember who it was. I think it was one of the female voice coaches.
@@jessicalee5260 The Charismatic Voice caught it. She was shocked when he dropped the bottom out lol
Thats Tim's real voice. He can do FIVE octives! Adam Chance is their 2nd bass! These guys are amazing!
Yep his real unassisted voice. No auto tunes. He and avi chaplain fromaly from pentatonic are amazing. And at the end it is not a vocal fry that's called overtones I believe a Mongolian singing technique but I could be wrong on where it's from
@@ditdiver123 i answered this somewhere else...it is Tuvan Throat Singing. Singing 2 distinct notes simultaneously. i had earlier stated i can sing a C# 1, but not without vocal fry.
Singing bass like Tim without fry or vibrato...totally clean, imo is perhaps the rarest vocal ability, given that no male past puberty can sing true soprano, given that castrati has been illegal since the 18th century. i also cannot name a male singer who could reach whistle register, ever.
Many sources cite Countertenor as being the rarest male vocal type, and contralto voice as being rarest overall. i would still contend that a pure bass, below the piano is the rarest male vocal. i have heard Tim use fry to go even deeper, and that is tough on the voice. People think high notes are harder on the throat.
While harder to hit high notes with age, singing in Tim's, or even fry type bass demands 2 difficult things. One, is your vocal folds must be fully opened and relaxed, and two, you have to push a lot of air to do so, since the folds cannot help compress the air from your diaphragm to extend your note holding ability.
In my own personal experience, extended use of my deepest bass has put my voice on the shelf for a week or 2 a few times. Going for my highest note...technically i have 4.2 octaves, 50 semitones, has never caused me anything but occasional embarrassment when it cracks.
When i say technically, i can go from C# 1, up to D# 5. However, it is best that i avoid those extremes that were once quite available, now that i am older. Simply to preserve my vocal ability longer.
@@kilgoretrout3966 🤗
@@ditdiver123 It sounds good but you can't actually think this has no pitch assistance or anything of that sort added to the track.
He cannot do 5 octaves nobody can.
You really need to listen to more of their music. Yes they all sing! No instruments!!!!!!!!!
His name is Tim Foust and there is a compilation video of him going subwoofer mode.
He is bad to the bone!
Thanks for this one.
Check out his voice in Misty Mountains with Peter Hollens, he hits a G sharp 1 at the end
Tim is Bass, Adam Chance in the back on the jeft was Baratone
@@southpawdiecast8352 And Adam Chance was a bass in the second season of The Sing Off. Their group placed second. Of course Pentatonix won the third season, and Home Free won the third season.
@@southpawdiecast8352 and Adam Chance is also a competent bass singer
Tim Foust hits a low F#1 in Home Free's rendition of 'Ring of Fire' ft. Avi Kaplan. Yes they're accapella and yes that's his real voice on the low end lol. His voice is insane! Geoff Castilucci from Voice Play is another true bass to check out. For them, 'The Oogie Boogie Man' would be my recommendation
Correction, Adam. Tim's low note on the Avi version of Ring of Fire is a G1, but the live version from SING OFF is an F#1. Definitely NO vocal effects in the SING OFF competition.
what he said 100%
Definitely listen to Geoff C. in Oogie Boogie's song and his "solo" in 16 Tons (where he shows off his 5-octave range).
Geoff is not a bass. he himself says he's a barritone with access to bass notes (he can't hit all bass notes)
@@caligo7918 If he isn't a bass, then who is? I would consider Tim Foust a bass, or would he be considered a baritone with access to bass notes? And if you think Geoff can't hit those really low notes, listen to Voice Play's cover of Oogie Boogie's song. Listen to the last note Geoff hits.
There is nothing remastered on this… Everything you’re hearing is coming from their mouth‘s. No sound effects whatsoever. The drums the harmonica… EVERYTHING! Those guys are incredible!
I get some of my best chuckles watching classically trained analysts give "first exposure" opinions of Home Free. The incredible range and control of the 4 primary singers, combined with the impossible sounds of the beat box master, forces EVERYONE to listen multiple times to every tune from this amazing group.
MrLboyd Reacts: "This guy's voice is master-assisted, right?"
Tim Foust: *laughs in bass tones*. Sure, buddy, whatever gets you through the day.
Serious baritone laughs
I just read that in Tim's voice which made it so much more hilarious XD
That is Tim's real voice. He has been known to give some sounds systems fits.
He's been known to break those poor sound systems. 🤣
He’s been known to vibrate ceiling tiles at concerts and gigs
@@rebeccafrost7731 he can drain the capacitors of the bass amplifiers. That will trip the fuse and the sound tech will have to put that back in and restart the bass amps. No permanent damage, but 2-5 Minutes of silence ;)
You should watch home fred's cover of "ring of fire" and "end of the road"
@@andyclive5967 Ceiling tiles are nothing for Tim. Saw them at Ryman in Nashville in 2019. He was rattling the windows.
Adam Rupp, one of the founders of Home Free, does the beat boxing. Nearly all instrumentation is produced by him. Adam Chance also contributes sound affects. Adam Rupp’s ability to sound like a drum set is incredible. He provides the rhythmic foundation for their performances. As you heard and saw Adam was producing the harmonica sound with his voice.
@Ares Alberto Yup... you were right - No-one gives a shit
@@Stampalex my thoughts exactly
Another freakishly talented aCapella group. I have heard them live and have tickets for another show and I can guarantee you that is their real voices. They cover a very wide range and have a number of originals. Considering the history of this song they were kind of singing "in character". The one you kept calling a baritone is actually their bass but he has a 5+ octave range and he was nowhere near his lowest on this song. Looking forward to more Home Free reactions.
Sir, you have an amazing speaking voice. I truly enjoy your reactions. You appear very technically knowledgeable and yet your sense of wonder and appreciation on an emotional level comes through strongly. This is regardless of the fact that the genre may be well outside your normal range. Well done, sir.
Oh my god. He couldn't find his way out of the closet.
No instruments; just human voices! Amazing.
P.s. Adam Rupp is the co-founder of the group and he is the equivalent of a human sound/instrument/beat machine his beatboxing solos are phenomenal!!!!!!
The bass singer Tim Foust has literally busted speakers on more than 1 occasion!
Home Free are one of the most amazing groups you'll ever hear. They have an extensive library of music videos here on UA-cam but also have some fun non-music videos too. The baritone's name is Adam Chance, but known in the band & by fans as just Chance because the beatboxer is Adam Rupp & is one of the founding members from the year 2000 whe Home Free was established. Look for their covers of End of the Road by Boyz2Men, when a Man loves a woman, and Sea Shanty Medly...that should get you started. It'll also let you see some of their humerous side !
In this video, the camera doesn't focus much on Chance, but he's the one doing the overtone singing. He starts the video with it, continues throughout, and finally he's the only one at the end. He's a baritone/bass, but Tim is the one who has that bass solo, and he's a basso profundo with a really good sound in his upper register.
He's actually blown out amps in live performances
They're singing and really getting into the song, then suddenly you can hardly hear them (dead speakers) and the audience is cracking up, with Austin and Chance and the rest joining in.
Like Avi Kaplan and Geoff Castelucci, Tim has insane natural subharmonics, and they can definitely mess with the amps. I sang in a group with a man who had a similar vocal range, and when he sang in the lower octaves he actually had to hold the mic further away. In a studio you can control that reverb but live, it's always a risk you just have to take.
All voice, no instruments! They are amazing!
Home Free is a phenomenal a cappella group. They come from country roots but their creations employ many genres. Check out their cover Crosby, Stills and Nash's "Helplessly Hoping" (amazing harmonies), Boyz II Men's "End of the Road", Cam's "Mayday" and John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads" to get a sense of the diversity of their work. They also have a great collaboration with Avi Kaplan who is a good friend from another fantastic a cappella group, Pentatonix, covering Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire", with mind blowing low notes. And their rendition of "How Great Thou Art" is not to be missed...stunning harmonies amid a spectacular backdrop; anyone with a soul will be moved.
I am an agnostic and How Great Thou Art does move my soul. That's the closest I ever come to believing in some sort of supreme being, listening to the incredible voices and harmony and see the spectacular scenery (shot in the Austrian alps). Can't recommend it highly enough.
They do an amazing Elvira, with the actual Oak Ridge Boys
Truly anything Home Free does is amazing, but I agree, Elvira and Man of Constand Sorrow are two of the prime examples of their talent.
Tim Foust is the bass. He really does have a deep voice
Indeed he does. He has a range of 5 octaves, and has been known to blow speakers out during shows fairly frequently.
@@calebturner405 yea his morning speaking voice is around where most man drop down to. and he can go down from there. not talking about the growls aka dragons breath he can do.
Adam Chance is also a bass. Not quite as low (seriously: who could be?) but still very good.
See Mayday for Chance to lead bass.
@@jayferguson9968 Yep. Chance sang bass for a group called Street Corner Symphony for a time, and did good work there
I've never heard of these guys before and I've NEVER been hooked on an acapella group before like these guys. That deep voice is magnificent
Home free is an a capela group that vocalizes all the instruments in any given song. As well as sing. And yes they all are singers.
No instruments, brother. Crazy talented group. Great reaction!
Oh boy, you have so much to discover about Home Free. It's a fantastic journey, they (like Pentatonix) are insanely talented.
Yes, they all can sing. Their beatboxer, Adam Rupp, besides being a founding member, is, hands down, the best beatboxer on this planet.
I heard he swallowed a drum kit when he was 5 (need to spread my rumor )
I love Adam but he is FAR from the best on the planet. D-Low, Napom and, Hiss just to name 3 are on another level.
@@DaveW74TVN I'm assuming you have seen Adam Rupp in concert with Home Free, of have seen the YT videos of his drum solos. I'm game to hear someone more artistic at beatboxing.
@@Tribblepuppy I haven't had the pleasure of seeing them live. I have seen the vids. Artistry is of course subjective. In the sport of beatboxing any of the 3 I mentioned could more than give Adam a run for his money. Since we are back on the subject I'll supply 4 more :) Codfish, Alem, Beardyman and, Tom Thum.
@@Tribblepuppy BTW LOVE the user name :D
Oh wow! I love the vocal didgeridoo and harmonica effects - crazy!
That's exactly how they sound live. All so talented
Live is even better - you can feel the natural vibrations of their voices through your whole body. I am usually exhausted after most concerts - I feel energized after theirs.
So glad you got to see Home Free. Have fun going down the rabbit hole like you did with Tom Macdonald. Tom has HOG. Home free fans are called Home Fries. Cant wait for your upcoming reaction to them.
The front middle man has a naturally Southern country voice being from South Georgia but he does lean into it on this song. He grew up singing Southern gospel and then trained in vocal theater in college. Three of them are from the deep South but they can sing anything.
They did an amazing cover of End of the Road by Boys to Men.
I've seen them live and yes his voice is really that low. My seat was vibrating when he sand low like that. Especially during this song and ring of fire. Avi from Pentatonix sings like that also. The guy who does all the noises did a 10 minute thing of drums and Micheal Jackson songs. It was amazing.
Geoff Castellucci on his own or with Voice Play is amazing too. Check out his version of Sixteen Tons. I've been digging into all three of these guys for a small bit now. Love love love them all!!!
He pushes the limits of some human hearing.
I mean you can tell Tim’s voice is that low once you hear him speak lol. Geoff keeps expanding his comfortable chest range too…he may start giving Tim a run for his money ;)
Listen to more of their songs. Any and all. Everything they do, even independently, is pretty spectacular.
clicked so fast as soon as I saw. This is a awesome rabbit hole to fall in. They are awesome. great reaction.
also that head jerk when you finally heard the deep voice. You'll be doing that a lot with him.
Thanks for the request and yes that's his real voice ring of fire johnny cash cover is 🔥 😏
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!! You will be a Home Fry before you know it. How Great Thou Art and their recent Sea Shanty is a must. Wonderful reaction.
Mr.Boyd, you are a delight. Thanks for breaking this down for us. What a great cover. What a great reaction
I absolutely love homefree! Tim Faust is the baritone he's amazing!!!!!
This is an amazing country accapella group and I just can't get enough of their videos. Many of their videos demonstrate their great sense of humor. Hope to see you join in as a "Home Fry" as Home Free fans are called.
Song by Home Free you might want to react to.. Ring of Fire, Everyone walking this land, Butts Remix, End of the Road and Mayday... You should have a few songs under your belt before listening to Mayday. I don't think they have a bad song out there. Looking forward to see more of your reactions.
Yes that's all their real voices. You should watch them live. It's crazy.
Tim’s bass is awesome in concert makes your heart palpate. They sound just like they do in their videos live in concert. A special experience ❤️❤️
I absolutely enjoy the heck out of your reactions absolutely from the heart.. I'm so glad that you discovered Home Free these men are outstanding.. each song they do is just better than the next better than the next it is unbelievable.. wait until you get into their original stuff oh my gosh give you Goosebumps I'm telling you love my Home Free 🏠🆓🏠🍟
If you want to hear Austin really burning it up, listen to their cover of the old Percy Sledge song, "When a Man Loves a Woman."
Definitely. Austin is incredible here.
One of the common threads of all the top a cappella groups is amazingly talented bass singers. These guys blow out speakers!
Al their voices, no effects. They are my favorite a cappella group.
Mine too!!! Fun Fact... it was while binge watching Home Free reactions that I first encountered Tom MacDonald. Had I never been a HomeFry, I wouldn't be HOG.
@@madamred2061 Too cool. Same here. Tom's Whiteboy ad came up while I was binging on HF.
@@allybandy3047 Noice! Exact opposite for me. The Tom/Home Free/Falling in Revers/Jinjer rabbit hole(s) have kept me occupied and sleepless for a few months now
Blue grass baby, luv it. Every sound even drums is made with the mouth.
I love watching people react to Home Free. They are awesome. Adam Rupp and his beatboxing. The harmonies are awesome!! I love Home Free😊
They are one of the best Acapella groups ever.
If you like deep voices, Tim foust, seen here, Geoff Castellucci and Avi Kaplan are three of the best Bass singers in the world, any of their solo work or work with their respective groups is incredible
Also Elvis Wang has a lovely bass voice.
If you go there you may end up in Super Vocal land (China) for a while.
I love watching people’s first reaction to Tim’s voice. Nobody believes it’s real!
No instruments except for their voices. Amazing and awesome singers
All their voices! No instruments. Loved the reaction. ❤️😁
Yeah bruh! This group does amazing accapella stuff, with true bass, baritone, and tenor singers. They're awesome, also Voice Play is another awesome accapella group to check out. Glad to see this reaction! Keep em comin✌
Tim in his mid range "Deepest voice on the planet". So need to get you to watch Ring of fire or Tim's work on Misty Mountain. Home Free's Tim, PTX's Avi and VoicePlay's Geoff are real monsters of bass singing that have to self regulate what they can do on a studio recording to not have to replace expensive equipment as you will find Tim is not as careful during live shows so can find videos of him blowing out speakers at different times.
This is Tims real voice , absolutely no assist. I have seen them Live 6 times and they are AMAZING !!! I am shocked you could tell how Austin (the lead singer was not trained in country). His college major was Musical Theater. I am a Huge Home Free fan and would love more reactions from you. They have a huge catalouge of music, very varied. They are not stuck on just one genre.
Yes, they all sing, they all will contribute to the percussion line as needed. All are extremely talented and versatile.
It's all them, acapella. They're simply amazing.
You should check out When A Man Loves A Woman or Folsom Prison Blues
I'm glad you finally found this amazing acapella group..👍
Greetings from Indonesian Home Fry..❤️
Yes, more Home Free!!! Tim’s bass is epic, and he does it live ( ring of fire live) ❤️
You add an intelligent, literate persona to reaction videos. Thank you!
Tim Foust has a bass voice that us bass singers can only wish for, absolutely amazing!! That beatboxing master Adam Rupp makes more sounds than an orchestra, not sure how he does it but WOW!! Overall these guys take a back seat to NOBODY AT ALL!!!
That is Definitely All Tim's Voice!!!! You should check out "Ring of Fire" ft Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix, "Folsom Prison Blues", & "Misty Mountain" covered by Peter Hollens ft Tim Foust, "Elvira" ft The Oak Ridge Boys to hear how Low Tim's Voice can go!!!! They are Country by Can Sing Any Genre, check out their covers of "End of the Road" by Boys to Men & "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley!!!! They Constantly Blow My Mind just Like Pentatonix!!!!
Oh wow! What a sound!! Thanks for another gem in the box. This is why I love to watch reactions vids so much. Discovering new music is great! ✌🏻❤️🇨🇦
FOLSOM PRISON BLUES for sure !! Your reviews are very enjoyable 💜
I've heard them live... that's his voice... they're an amazing group of acapella singers.
Every sound comes from them. I laugh when people keep insisting there are harmonicas, mouth harps and other instruments being used. This has become my favorite vocal group. Every one of them is amazingly talented, but they are humble and work together so well.
i thought i heard a didgeridoo at the end, that was all voice?!
@@lestranged Yes, one hundred percent voice. They are incredibly talented!
Welcome to the world of Home Free. They are a fully vocal band. Tim, the bass, is phenomenal with a multi-octave range and can sing tenor to base. Adam Rupp, the beat boxer, is hands down, one of the best ever. Each one of these men bring such a beautiful and wide range of talent. Thank you for your reaction and I'm sure we'll see many more from you on this group. They're quite addicting.
Other people are telling you the stuff about the band (One of my favorites) so I'll tell you about the trees. They are Live oaks, which get covered in a drooping moss.
I has a sad. My live Oak has no spanish moss
"Glooms of the live-oaks, beautiful-braided and woven..."
Check out their version of When A Man Loves A Woman. You will see what Austin can do.
It’s all voice and unassisted. Theses guys are awesome.
Lmao! I love Tim's voice, I could listen to it for hours! Not assisted, just amazing abilities!
Yes, it is all voice no instrumentation. Yes it's his real voice. You need to hear their cover of J. Cash Folsom Prison Blues. No its not assisted and he can go lower. lol... And yes, the All sing. I know they have several covers and possibly some original that Adam the Beat Boxer sings on. I think the cover of possibly CSNY Helplessly Hoping. Maybe there Mayday... Not sure, but yes they all sing Tim is the Bass he's been known to blow speakers in concert. A mash up of his singing with a fellow who's first name escapes me his last name is Holined they sang the Theme Song for The Hobbit I think it was. Look for the cut Misty Mountain's. I'm sure it will pop up.
That's Peter Hollens singing with Tim on Misty Mountains.
Oh! Wow! Now you've done it! Be prepared for all the "Home Fries" to bombard you with requests and subs! You'll love this journey! 👍💜
Spoken like a true Home frie 😂 👍🍻
Darn Tootin'! We LOVE our guys!
😂😂yeah, he’s about to log-jammed by Home Fries for sure! Let me put my 2 cents now; How Great Thou Art, My Church, Ring of Fire, and Mayday to get ya started. Then lay into Country Roads, Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking for with Peter Hollens, and the Butts Remix
Love Home Free. Please listen to "when a man loves a woman". It's incredible by Home Free.
The sound is bluegrass, my favorite kind of music.
I appreciate your honest reaction. The fact that you are genuinely interested in all of the aspects of their performances really refreshing.
Chance is the baritone and he’s doing some overtones to get that “Louisiana swampy” sound.
Just subbed... love Home Free! Folsom Prison Blues is a great one to check out!
If you want to hear a really low voice, react to Geoff Castellucci, singing 16 tons. This video is just him singing 4 parts. He has an amazing range. He is also the base singer for VoicePlay, another great a cappella group.
VoicePlays' Oogie Boogie song is also an amazing example of Geoff's voice.
My first time hearing these guys. They are great !!
They are completely unassisted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Austin, the guy singing lead, has covered Etta James's At Last in her key.
There is zero electronic assistance is Home Free’s performances. What you hear is the vocal mastery of each individual member. Bassist, Tim Foust has five octave range. Baritone and Alto tenor, Adam Chance also provides baritone assistance.
Home Free and Pentatonix have the 3 most amazing bassists of their generation and are all completely acapella.
And Adam chance ain't bad himself... lol
@@blitzofchaosgaming6737 Chance was the bass for another group before being snagged by Home Free.
Dude
That Is His REAL Voice
🤣🤣🤣
💖💖💖
So you discovered these amazing guys! All their own voices.
You should check out either Home Free End of the Road cover or Ring of Fire cover.
Holy crap. I've never been this early. @MRLBOYDREACTS I appreciate you man.
Enjoyed your reaction. Please consider reacting to Home Free's rendition of "When a Man Loves a Woman. "
the percussionist here is amazing. totally A Capella
That is his real voice! No assist. Love his voice and them all!
I LOVE THAT YOU REACTEED TO HOME FREE. I've also requested this so thank you to the donor! More home free please??
My home boys! HF actually started here in MN decades ago by Adam (beatboxer) and his brother Chris (left the group a few years ago), and Rob (The Bearded Wonder) is also from up here. Tim, Chance and Austin are all southern boys. One thing no one has mentioned is how much fun these guys are! They have so many fun songs/videos, and cross many genres. Fun fact, the decided to "go country" to stand out for their Sing Off audition (after a few tries and not making the cut) and it was obviously a good call!
Yes , there is no add sounds to this, all of this is just these 5 guys
There is a live video of the guy doing all the percussion sounds and more demonstrating his talent. It truly is amazing to watch.
I'm nodding yes, every time you ask is it real? Is that beatboxer doing it? Tim Foust (bass) has one of the lowest voices in acapella today. The beatboxer Adam Rupp is completely incredible. All the guys sing amazingly well. Go down this rabbit hole of acapella groups and your channel will grow exponentially. Pentatonix, Home Free and Voiceplay are the best in this genre.
