We didn’t know this aspect of ripely’s backstory, but we did know she worked with the Dwendalian Empire in the manufacturing of chemical weapons. Which explains “my delirium gas.”
I loved the lyrics and music but the weird distorted sound of the voice pulled me out of the moment until the music switched during the credits. I think a softer sadder sounding voice with those lyrics would have hit harder. It's a minor complaint. This show as a whole is one of the best shows I've ever seen. At the age of 51 I've seen a lot of TV.
@@Fairburne69 yeah, i think pop style of the song really ruined the tone of the scene (at least, distracted me enough to not be able to enjoy the scene)
@@niamhfox9559 I'm aware he dies in both, just like everyone was aware that Vex died in both but told reactors that she was dead dead because they did not want to spoil her resurrection in the following episode. I didn't want to confirm Percy's death for someone who hadn't gotten that far into the campaign yet.
And THAT'S why Ripley is my most hated villain of VM. This was the first episode I was caught up with the campaign and watched live, and it was the worst first cliffhanger to experience.
Note: Delilah Briarwood was an Ex-Assembly member, so Ripley legit ended up working for the same kind of person who slaughtered her village, and she doesnt see ANY irony in that at all.
Didnt she even say directly to Percy "Mages killed both our families", when we have seen the flashbacks ourselves and the Briarwoods weren't even present? It was Ripley, Stonefell and some other mundane goons who did the deed, nothing to do with the arcane powers of Delilah.
This show is diverging from the campaign is some ways, and this is one of them. As a huge fan of the live play, I'm loving it -- I don't really know what's going to happen next.
@@IndomitableAde part of me wonders if they were doing some of these voice recordings while Sam was going through his cancer treatments and they needed something to minimize his role and it make sense
Ripley deserves to be executed for killing Percy, Percy was a good man, especially after all that has happened to him over the years since the Briarwoods ruined his life as a child
An Assembly cameo already?? These guys are my favourite antagonists from the Critical Role campaigns. So excited to see if only a glimpse of these psychopath mages! The Volstruckers are coming…
Ripleys backstory was very briefly alluded to in the Dark Horse Comics Ripley preview. Its like a half page in black and white of Cerberus Assembly mages destroying her town. However, the reveal of who led the mages is very new and he is extremely important and influential to the future of CR. Definitely did not expect that reveal midseason of Legend of Vox Machina. 👀
But his soul is not with the Raven Queen. Ripley's gun glowed meaning it's with Orthax. Orthax will torture Percy's soul, Vox Machina has to get Percy's soul and try to restore him. This is all wishful thinking and hope.
No that's 100% facts, Percy's soul "belonged" to Orthax from the moment he made The List. Orthax cursed every weapon Ripley made, that includes her primary weapon (Animus iirc). So the weapon is bound to Ripley, Ripley is bound to Orthax, she killed Percy, so Percy's soul is now with Orthax.
There are so very many changes from the campaign, and we're all flying a little blind here. But Ripley did kill Percy on Glintshore there. I would not that maybe if Percy hadn't pressed the issue then, she wouldn't have been distracted there, whereas in the tomb, it was all Percy making the mistakes, pressing Vex to check the sarcophagus.
So Percy did die in the campaign, but if you noticed the gun lit up as he died, it indicates that Orthax has his soul not the Matron of Ravens. Love the reactions, keep them coming! I'll just say get the tissues!
There's no guarantee Percy comes back but having watched the campaign I have theories. Even so we can't know what they change and CR will go for the hurt. If they do find a way to bring him back you can bet there's going to be some consequences.
The Assembly in the beginning are some bad dudes. So cool how interconnected and dense the lore between Critical role campaigns is becoming. Heartbreaking episode, great reaction!

I may as well put a bullet in my own chest to save that person the trouble. Human beings are selfish by nature in their own unique way. Some people can ignore that base quality, but they can never truly suppress it, at least not for long. People will place their own interests ahead of others and I'm no different. Even if Percy wasn't going to let Ripley go, she was too dangerous to keep around where she could do others harm. Ripley doesn't care about atoning for anything, and she shows it at every turn. Whether a person deserves redemption or not isn't up to you, me(not that I care), or anyone else to decide for someone like Ripley. That's a choice she needs to make on her own and I personally don't see anything worth redeeming about Ripley. The Ring poisoned Gollum's mind for centuries and made him obsessed with it to the point he would kill anyone to get the Ring back from them like he tried to kill Frodo. Gollum even bit Frodo's finger off to prove it. He was too far gone, and Frodo was right, Bilbo should've killed him a long time ago.
Unpopular opinion, I absolutely hate that song. It's just a preference/taste thing, but it ruins the whole thing for me.
