What are (roughly) your computer's specs, I'm wondering how Rhino will perform on my computer. I didn't notice any lag or slow down when you went to 'ray-trace', meaning your computer is pretty stout, or Rhino is incredibly efficient.
I don't 100% recall the specific computer used for that video, but I know it would have had an Nvidia GPU, maybe GTX Titan or RTX 2080. That tech moves fast but in general, more Cuda cores = faster Raytraced. Try the 90 day evaluation of Rhino 6 on your computer to test the speed with your models, resolution, materials and lighting set up.
@@RhinoGuide I'm actually working my way through your tutorial now. I have a 7(ish) year old laptop; Ray Trace is pretty slow. I messed with the settings and that helped a little. I was able to follow the tutorial pretty closely; in the end I wasn't able to get the refraction to show up quite right. I may have sized the liquid too big relative to the glass. Also my glass ended up having thicker walls. The program runs very smoothly while 3D modeling which is good. I wish there was a view style like shaded, but one which showed transparent objects (maybe there is; I'm just getting into the program of course). None the less very impressed with the program so far. And great tutorial!! Worth noting is that my gumball was turned off by default. Took a couple minutes to find out how to turn it on: Just typed 'gumball' at the command line.
Hi! excelent video! I can´t visualice the edge softenining option in mi model, I click on but in none of the objets i try to aply the option it does not work . I render the glass and even the option is on dosen´t show in the final image. thanks for you help!
Hi, My first guess is that radius used is too large for the thickness of the glass. Check what the command line says when enabling the edge softening property. If you still have trouble, email the model to tech@mcneel.com or post it to the user forum please... discourse.mcneel.com/

Thanks bro... 😘😘😘
Nice work! i tried, but I couldn't find the display mode in my program so it didn't make the water effect.
The Raytraced mode will only be in Rhino 6... if that wasn't your version grab the evaluation off Rhino3D.com

Is the lighting in this environment default?
Yes, if you don't see the same, use the Reset Defaults option in the Rendering panel which can be found in the Panels drop down menu.
