When living in New England in encountered a lot of salt spray from the salt usage on their enter roads. I added a second rear window sprayer nozzle to stay ahead of the white salt collection back there! Quite easy to do. Mine runs on Ronal R9 wheels. I also upgraded to the latest LED headlights based upon that quad headlight arrangement. (This is one of the best upgrades you can do). You are keeping it in very nice shape! Thank you for your detailed walk through.

You're welcome and thank you as well for sharing your details. I read that LED headlamps in cold climates require heaters so when it snows the lamps can resist ice build up? I've driven through snowy areas and even with regular/non-LED headlamps, in the snow, ice will eventually builds up. I dunno, after driving in the midwest on highways in the dead of winter, regardless of LED vs Non-LED headlamps, I'm scared of driving in the snow at night when it's -5 degrees Fahrenheit. Here in the states, Vanagon's were equipped with H5 U.S. spec headlamps and bulb which was ridiculously dim. H5 produced light similar to 5 candle sticks (-: LED headlamps sounds like it gives the best lighting performance!

I use a small wire wheel on a Dremel tool to clean those door contacts periodically. At abou 308,000 miles I'm a bit ahead of you on my 1987-1/2 Wolfsburg Weekender. Original owner.

Wowowowo! that's a lot of miles and that is super rare that you're the original owner. You deserve a reward and a party and I would attend it!!! I personally feel like a car whore, lol. I buy them, dump a lot of money and pain into them and then sell them and start the whole process all over again. I think my vanagon is the longest I've ever held onto a car. I had it since 2010. I was soo young back them (-:

You may need to clean up all those contact points on the B column and their contact points on the sliding door with an emory board.

True. I think if I take apart the sliding gate handle to see what's loose also might help me find the root cause on why I have to push the sliding gate handle in order for the central locking to lock the gate and the rear hatch. Thank you for watching the video and catching that part. I'll take all the help I can get. Much appreciated!
