A little misconception you had: SERN is not a dystopic overlord in the world lines beyond the 1% attractor field, in those world lines the story changes to World War 3 occurring due to an Arms Race for Time Travel. So it does make *some* sense that things would be blasted to shit. (Funny thing though, I just remembered in the 4 years between Kaguri being 6 and turning 10 apparently Akihabra gets blasted. Remember the whole episode around the song? Those train tracks were fine. Now in a modern day World War that's not too insane to think, but still.)
For the Otaku Journey's angle? I'm not as convinced as with NGNL, and I'd have to think about it, but there is certainly a powerful amount of that sort of theme in the show. I'm just not sure quite if it's the largest point in the show.

@@TheWoostergirl In the VN, yes, multiple countries invade Akihabara to try and steal or destroy Suzuha's time machine. It's not really communicated *how* any of these groups besides StratFor find out about it, but they do literally start World War 3 in Akiba over the time machine technology.

  • @SeralyneYT
    @SeralyneYT 6 років тому +217

0:23 - Because Steins;Gate 0 expands upon character developments made in the anime that weren't made in the visual novel.
0:50 - Nope, it shouldn't. Attractor Fields are a thing. In fact, Suzuha coming back is part of convergence in the Beta Attractor Field.
1:08 - That's not it. Yes, Daru is loyal to Okabe, but he isn't that loyal. It's more that they have no clue how to actually finish the damn thing.
1:18 - Because Okabe is the only one that is capable of observing worldline change. She assumes fixing the world on July 28th is the only way to open a path to the Steins Gate because Beta Suzuha knows jack shit about how time travel actually works.
1:37 - These prophecies will be fulfilled no matter if Daru wants it to happen or not. This is convergence at play. It's the same thing that caused Mayuri to die every time in the original as well. If Yuki isn't gunned down, she'll die in some other way.
    1:50 - See my comment regarding 0:50.
2:20 - Because it isn't really relevant. Generally, and this isn't anything confirmed, but just a bit of speculation: Convergence tries to place people in the positions they were before the shift if possible. There are occations where it isn't possible, but in most it is.
2:38 - Yeah. You're highlighting the one plot hole with the true end that no one has managed to explain properly so far. This plot hole has been known since before 0.
This theory by /u/Woute on r/SteinsGate is the best explanation we've got so far. www.reddit.com/r/steinsgate/comments/8nioce/an_attempt_at_a_complete_theory_of_steinsgate/
3:10 - Yeah, this is just mediocre, if not bad writing. I guess we can establish this as a case of 'Faint Memories' from the original (see the theory) if we were to explain this at all. If we were to explain this, I'd say Mayuri isn't shocked because of the "memory-leak" from Alpha, essentially.
4:35 - An after-story for Alpha does exist, though. There's Rebellion of the Missing Ring (Manga) and The Distant Valhalla (LN and fanmade VN).
4:40 - Linear Bounded Phenogram, Darling of Loving Vows, the Hyde of Dark Dimension Drama CD, Robotics;Notes DaSH, and the rest of SciADV exists though. Steins;Gate wasn't even the first within the universe.
5:07 - This isn't SERN though. These are either raiders/pillagers or legit military people. From which nation? That isn't relevant.
5:14 - This isn't a dystopia either. This is post-WW3. A destroyed world, essentially. The Dystopia took place in the Alpha Attractor Field, you just misunderstood the story.
5:22 - Not quite. Your confusion here is caused by a misunderstanding of something that was made clear in the original anime.
5:31 - Because this future isn't the same future. You're basing this point off your own misconception, that should have been clear from the anime alone.
5:47 - This isn't 2036 to my understanding, but before everything goes to complete shit.
5:52 - That Kagari is a left-over Kagari from the Vega & Altair storyline. She looks younger due to her hair being shorter, I guess.
6:03 - Time-leap failed. Time proceeded normally, data is still on the computer. Okabe falls brain-dead in 2025. Data gets restored.
6:12 - Not quite random. This is his former university.
7:21 - Why is this the single worst thing? I've never really understood the complaints myself.
7:57 - I really can't see your arguments about Luka and Faris. It makes sense to me.
8:01 - No. Because that's not the same future.
8:08 - Because that's not the same future.
9:25 - This is because Chiyomaru is great at making their characters know just enough about the mechanics to get us invested, yet just enough to make us unable to figure anything out about them. Kurisu didn't know anything about the limit, she was just taking an educated guess.
11:15 - I haven't really got anything to refute you with here. Tech looks the same because of the budget, I guess. Those time leaps cenes were anime original in the first place, so again, can't really use anything but the "muh budget" argument here.
14:30 - These character analyses are actually alright.
16:43 - And this is where you'll need to understand that SERN is only the first boss of the raid. There are many more raid bosses yet to beat,
17:18 - Steins;Gate is literally not a dating sim. Visual Novels != Dating Sims. Yes, Steins;Gate does have routes for each girl. Does Okabe end up with any of them? Yes, but when he does, it's this bittersweet ending.
rot13.com - Use this to decode this part. It spoils literally all the alternate endings.
Yhxn'f raqvat vf yvgrenyyl "Raqyrff Thvyg-gevc bire yrggvat Znlhev qvr, ohg yrg'f qb thvyg gbtrgure, bu naq yrg'f unir n onol."

Znlhev'f raqvat vf yvgrenyyl "Gehr raq phg fubeg ohg jvgu Znlhev"
17:48 - I'll actually agree here. Most of SciADV's science is bullshit. That's not what's entertaining about them. It's exactly as you say. It's the closest we've got, and they manage to make that entertaining.
18:24 - I guess. Steins;Gate 0 was entertaining to me because I managed to get invested in the world, in the characters and in the further universe.
18:36 - I wouldn't say it's Steins;Gate fanfiction. And I'm gonna add this point once again, most of 0 was canon side material before becoming compiled into the VN, which got compiled into the anime. Some of this side material even predates the original anime. I would call this a part of said Otaku Hero's Journey.
All in all, I can't say I think Steins;Gate 0 was perfect, but I can say that I don't think it sucks, your opinion may differ, nor did I ever hope to change your opinion, I was simply thinking that I'd help other people who are equally confused about the story understand it.

Lemme explain some of the stuff here.
I am no critic myself but if you want your critiques to be taken seriously you should tend to do some more research about the topic to be honest, Digibro. You overlooked and misinterpreted lots of things in the first half of the video even though the second half wiith the otaku guy rant was pretty damn impressive (I'll give you that)
0:04 - You are right about Okabe starting to feel sympathetic towards Moeka closer to the end of the series. But you should have noticed that, at this wordline, Okabe is suffering from severe case of anxiety due to his PTSD. He's on meds and having therapy sessions time to time. A mention of any small bit from last summer is enough to make him go nuts. Now what would seeing his childhood friend's murderer again make him feel like?
0:28 - Yes, he changed this much. It is not an oversight. Anxiety DOES this you.
0:37 - Daru had already started working on the time leap machine waaaay before Okabe realized what he was doing, so I don't get why you're assuming Daru could only finish it with Okabe's permission.
1:36 - He cant change the course of things. That's how convergence works. It is going to happen: the law of god. Daru too knows this - he heard from Okabe about what happened to Mayuri in the alpha wordlines.
1:50 - Honestly? Don't expect to get an explanation to this. If there is a reason to why Okabe decided to visit the lab, we cant learn that anyway. Because that Okabe is gone, overwritten by the Okabe who reading steinered into that wordline.
2:10 - I'm pretty sure no one thought about this as hard as you did, Digibro. It seems more nitpicky than any of your statements before.
2:21 - They dont cease to exist because the worldine they are in is STILL active. It does not shift to the Steins;Gate worldline until Suzuha from 2036 (the smol Suzuha you see in Episode 23, not the one who got lost in time) time travels back to 2010 and shows okabe the video mail.
2:47 - I'll agree with you in this one. Those rooftop scenes are horrible and badly directed in every single episode they appear. I think those are the only part of the anime anyone cant find an excuse or explanation to. They are simply bad.
4:25 - SERN never establish their dystopia in the beta worldlines.
5:05 - Those are not SERN soldiers. SERN isnt even active after World War 3. And what you see is not supposed to be a "dystopia" either. You're mixing alpha and beta wordlines. In Alpha, SERN achieves their dystopia - In Beta, it's World War 3 where big guys are on the frontlines. Literal countries, like Russia and US, not independent shadow organizations like SERN.
5:29 - Again, you are mixing things. That shot of the city is from SERN's dystopian timeline where World War 3 NEVER occurs. So everything is intact.
5:34 - This feels like another nitpick. Is this huge enough of a plothole for you to mention it?
6:19 - This slight bit of info comes from the visual novel: Where Okabe wakes up is not a random hospital. It's Stratfor's base located under Tokyo Denki University (the one where Okabe attends). Anime apparently never tells you this info. I guess they didn't feel like adding that bit since it connects to the second half of Promised Rinascimento route which the anime did not adapt.
8:10 - Honestly you can pull this argument in literally every death in Steins;Gate. "X character dies but they will come back in the Steins Gate worldline, so who the fuck cares?" Not to mention this death scene was necessary for Okabe to pull his shit together. He finally realized that war IS real and his friends will all die, he finally realized that he has to do something. So I guess Okabe cares?
9:25 - On paper it sounds shit, yes but the fact that he'd go further as to do 3000 time leaps back to the past to fix the future is still badass. And to know that that this may have taken months in Okabe's perspective makes him seem way more determined than before. Gives you a feeling that old Okarin is back and he's going to pull it off.
Also one of my favorite changes from VN to anime was Okabe deciding to time leap back to the past himself. In the VN it was more like Maho saying "Oh yeah, you can time leap like, 3000 times if you wanna go back" and Okabe was like "guess I'll do it then" which added no weight to his decision to be honest.
10:02 - That's because Okabe literally broke the machine first time he woke up/arrived in 2036. Daru (or [Kurisu] herself, I don't remember who exactly) mentions this exact same thing later in the same episode.
10:31 - I wouldn't say nothing changed. Okabe couldn't time leap 2 weeks after he arrived in 2025 because the time leap machine's capabilities were extended to 2 weeks after his "death". After that point he has to go back through time by 2 days instead of 2 weeks.
11:00 - Of course the show didn't show 25 years of Okabe time leaping back to the future and there are two reasons to that: 1) By that point 0 had only 2 episodes left so, not much runtime to cover everything. 2) It's the same thing over and over, I fail to see how showing Okabe's time leaps would be any interesting.
Also let me remind you that the whole sequence where Okabe arrived in 2025 and ran to the time leap machine with the help of Amadeus and his friends wasnt even in the visual novel. The VN didnt even show anything after Okabe's first time leap. Just a small text that states Okabe time leaped 3000 times back to the past. To some people, what anime added is a nice bonus. To me, honestly, it was a needed fix and White Fox delivered it perfectly. t
18:15 - I'll keep it simple. 0 is no longer the story of the otaku hero. It's about the story of a man who is trying to escape from those delusions because he is too afraid to face the consequences of his possible wrongdoings. This is why I know 0 wouldnt appeal to everyone who watched the original series, the shift from lighthearted to depressing tone is heavy and might irk some of those people off from watching/reading it to the end.
This is why you shouldn't compare the tone of 0 to OG, they are supposed to be vastly different. as because in no way 0 is trying to be like the original Steins;Gate.

    • @Henagata
      @Henagata 6 років тому +19

2:47 - Actually Mayuri DID experience all of the horrible things that happen to her in the series. As explained in the last few episodes of the original. Everyone has steins reader ability. They are just weaker versions of it. It came to her as dreams. Dying over and over again, explained in the graveyard scene. As well as various other scenes where characters remember things in alternative timelines. SO even though the roof top actions scenes suck. Mayuri's acting can be explained.

@DrMecha You don't need any extra info from the visual novel to understand the difference between alpha and beta worldlines. Or why Amadeus didnt launch the first time Okabe landed in 2036. The anime will tell you everything you need, with leaving extra details in the VN. Just make sure you don't sleep through the entire thing, as I'm pretty sure Digibro did and he misinterpreted a lot of things because of that.

@@DrMecha That is fine for some of his mistaken points, but a lot of his fuck ups in this video were absolutely explained in the anime and made no sense for him to bring up. One thing I want to point out to the OP, I thought the 2 week time leaping was ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT when I read it in the VN and in the anime. It makes NO sense and that pissed me off.
Hell, in the original S:G VN there's the route with Nae in which she consecutively jumps back from 2036 all the way back to 2010, and the leaper could ONLY DO 48 hours. It CANNOT be upgraded because it is a PHYSICAL limitation to send back memories into past selves' brains and not a technical limitation. They just hand wave away an explanation for this in SG;0 that makes no scientific sense, and one of the biggest reasons I loved the original, and the series as a whole, is how much it takes its science seriously.
SG;0 introduced so many plot holes in terms of the science in the show that were not there before. Steins;Gate used to have a perfect time travel system that could actually be real which lended a lot of believability to the story. Now, just like so many other timetravel shows, it has so many holes its like swiss cheese.

I don't know how you got that mixed up but saying there is a lack of bombing in the dystopia in the original steins;gate is common sense as that's the SERN dystopia world line not the WW3 world line.

Maiyushi and Suhuza would not disappear under parralel timeline theory, as the future would not be able to affect the past, which would be required to make that scene work. But this brings up the completely different problem that if parralel timelines is how steins gate works, then literally all of the plot is pointless, as they are not saving or changing anyone, but only just abandoning their own timelines, and the scientists don't think about this one. This would not be an issue without that damn scene...

I don't know, while S;G Zero was really bad I don't think Digi did a particulier good job of explaining why. Yes, I read some comments saying "You made me dislike S;G Zero too" but overall I don't think you converted many people to your cause. This wasn't a repeat of "SAO - A analytical diatribe", this felt more like a list of complaints than a structured breakdown of the show. For instance that you started out with the new character designs: it makes sense if the creators of Zero fucked up the basic characters designes and showed us that they don't really understand the characters then of course everything else will be bad too. While I understand that to many people this seemed like a minor gripe and you not only opened on it, you spend a lot of time on it. Lots of other times you said that you couldn't be bothered to pay attention to what was going on. That is a valid point in so far that the show does not present its exposition appealingly, but as a critik you have to sit through and soak everything in, to get the perspective of the people that are invested.
So while I agree with most things said in these videos I don't think that these videos were great review of S;G Zero. Though I am gratefull that finally a big youtuber called S;G Zero out for what it is. Digi boasted that he has his formular so down to a "t" that for all 4 video he only needed two days. Just some speculations, but I believe that using a time machine to travel and transport matter happens across timelines (multiverse theory) while D-mails, D-Line, and time leaping happens in the same timeline/world line. So when a time machine from the future comes to 2010, it's transporting matter from a parallel timeline from a different point in time to that specific moment in time and space on 2010 timeline. D-mail and the other ones use a different method of transporting information. That is why when Okabe in Beta sends a video to past him on the rooftop, his timeline still stays the same, because Suzuha will basically carry that message through cross timeline transport to rooftop Okabe. That is why when Beta Okabe sends that video to Rooftop Okabe, Reading Steiner doesn't kick in, he still goes to like 18 000 BC to find Mayuri and Suzuha.
That means that two Okabes had to not get to Steins;Gate timeline in order for Kurisu to get not-killed and create a timeline similar to the original Alpha timeline, where they decide to move to Beta to save Mayuri, except undoing that letter doesn't cause Kurisu to get stabbed, it gets her tasered. Reading Steiner works by giving Okabe all the possible memories of all Okabes in all different world-lines up to that point in time, so that Okabe at 7/8/2010 9:00 pm can't know using Reading Steiner what happens at 7/8/2010 9:01 pm unless he has experienced it before via time leap. There's a happy end though because Okabe basically has a shared consciousness over all world-lines so all world lines get to experience Steins;Gate.
Honestly, I'm probably just rambling and there are most likely some things that I got wrong in my rant but I watched the Steins;Gate series in chronological order. SG 1-22, SG 23b, SG0 1-23, SG 23-24. It was great and I really enjoyed it. Steins;Gate is my 3rd favourite anime but not just Steins;Gate, but the whole series in that order. When watched in that order, everything fits perfectly. It's really enjoyable and I recommend you watch it in that sequence.
Anyways, if you're going to rant about something, go rant about that Deja Vu movie or something.

Regarding writing issue #5, there always was an explanation for how you couldn't cause Grandfather Paradoxes in Stein's Gate (inherited from the John Titor story it was built around): Alternate timelines are alternate dimensions, and traveling to the past is actually traveling to an alternate dimension whose timeline is not contingent upon the one you came from. Each world's timeline is essentially deterministic and the past of that timeline cannot be changed, but you can go to a new dimension which is altered by the very act of the time travel discovering/creating it. This also means no past is "fixed" - every "bad" timeline where Kurisu or Mayuri dies still exists, but Okabe finds a "Happy Ending" by simply world-hopping until he finds a world where neither his girlfriend and little sister analogue die.

WhoCanusMaximus These r all the things he said throughout the video and I proved he’s wrong.
      1. The future was not irrelevant to be shown. It’s supposed to emphasize how shitty it is. Leaving it as a mystery doesn’t always workout.
      2. Also what do you mean what would that even look like. If there was a time traveling machine people would go to war just to get their hands on it. One country attacks the other country or sends their spies and they go at it. The war over time travel makes sense because if u have a device like that u can basically do anything. U r gog as long as u don’t do anything stupid and kill ur existence. It’s pretty self explanatory how SERN got their hands on the military. SERN is a huge tech company probably has ties with the government. All they have to say is that this country has a device that can shift the balance of power and the government is on their side. Common sense brother. Not everything has to be written down on a piece of paper. Stein’s gate 0 has issues but that’s not one of them. Also I think the animation could have been better.
      3. Seriously, u r complaining about the paper work scene. U r think too much into that. She’s an orphan they won’t just give her to some random broad because she asked. Even though it’s a dystopia the good guys have a sense of morality and ethics.
      4. Also they put him in a bombed hospital because no one would expect a person to be there. The base could be attacked at any time. They can’t protect him while surviving and fleeing. It’s like hiding in plain sight. They won’t expect a person in it destroyed hospital.
      5. Amadeus isn’t the only one taking care of him also the fat dude is now older which means his voice changed. His voice didn’t change because he got skinny it’s because he got older. He was already in his 20s but now he’s like in his 30s.
      6. That turned into a bad ass action heroes because that’s what they had to do. They had to survive somehow. They had to learn those skills. The show won’t show every little detail of the future. It’s not trying to make the future as the main focus. It’s training to prevent the future from happening.
      7. U may not care about rukoko’s death but his death has a meaning. It signifies how shitty the timeline is and it’s supposed to break down “mad scientist” even more. We know the timeline will be reset but rukoko’s death is making okabe who he is. It’s emphasizing it even more. U not feeling nothing towards it is a you problem not the show’s problem. We know it’s going to be all better at the end. His death is putting fuel on fire.

I watched these videos after playing the VN, and holy cow. I can't believe how they massacred it. It's like there are 6 completely incompatible worldlines in the VN, so they crammed them all into one. Then instead of taking the extra time for it to make sense, they filled the remaining space with fanservice and action. A far-from-complete list of differences:
The Yuki "tease" is not a tease in the VN. Mayuri's love for Okabe is a plot twist only touched on in the true ending. You see barely anything happening in the WW3 future, just dialogue and Daru's face (and he's still a little fat). Nae doesn't dress in a skimpy santa outfit. Boobs weren't inflated to the same ridiculous proportions. Moeka is always on the edge of the plot, not one of the main crew. People rarely ever meet up in huge groups together (and things tend to go badly when they do). Maho doesn't give Okabe a bunch of warnings not to get attached to Amadeus, instead claiming that she's basically just a different version of the real Kurisu - It's Okabe that has all these problems and resists becoming attached, right up to the end. He and Kurisu don't kiss in the alpha worldline, and instead she begs him to forget about her and move on. Okabe's friends/family take care of him in the coma, not Amadeus. And most importantly, the coma worldline is totally distinct from the one in which he sends the d-video back to OG Okabe.
As far as I can tell, the 2 best moments from the VN are totally absent in the anime: Mayuri's monologue when she decides to leave with Suzuha, and the "gehenna" moment in the soviet worldline.

    • @villadavid1997

The anime was not an adaptation. Actually it is an additional, final route to the VN, like a DLC. The VN shows different Beta worldline iterations, which all of them happened at least once. But none of them is a final route. The true end is just a chapter, which has no direct connection to Vega and Altair. There are ton of worldline iterations between VA and MWC, and the anime is the final iteration which directly leads to MWC.
It would have been impossible to properly adapt this VN, since it is not linear and all endings are canon (while the original was linear with alternative side-endings)

    • @mr.stuffdoer8483

Honestly they did a good job with what they were working with. SG0 is an extremely convoluted game with three canonical endings, 2 branching storylines from near the start, and 3 endings that come in the same timeline from before the canonical endings that could still be easily viewed as canonical.
There’s no way to adapt that perfectly, and what we got was overall pretty decent. It’s not like SG is really known for adapting the source well. The first one had some massive fuck ups through-out and is considered one of the best anime ever despite that.

@@mr.stuffdoer8483 No, all of them is canonical. Steins;Gate 0 is ablut worldline iteration. There were more than thousands of failed iterations in the Beta Attractor Field until a final Okabe, whom we see in MWC found the solution. All routes are one of these iterations. They happened at least once in the story.
MWC does not take place on the VA worldline too. Actually, the anime shows us the final iteration. Kurisu and Mayuri endings are not directly related to the true ending, since there were many many worldlines between VA and MWC. MWC Okabe is not the VA Okabe and not the PR Okabe either.

I think one of the things I ended up hating the most about the series was that ending with Mayuri. They made this big song and dance about how they *had* to get Mayuri back to the past, when in teend it doesn't change anything on its own, given that it shows Okabe and the others, still in the bad future, where they have to send the dmails with the videos back in time. Kind of takes away from the original moment with Mayuri too. I'm also really confused at where Okabe was planning to go with Mayuri and Suzuha after he rescued them....as the future they return to will cease to exist after they send the Dmails.

Second, they explained why Okarin was in a bombed out hospital and who took care of him.
Luka and Faris are the ones who took care of him while he was in the hospital.
The reason they kept him there was because not even the members of Valkyrie were supposed to know that he was still alive.

The 'time war' part is different because Okabe buying that steel trinket thing means that Mayuri gets the ordinary one which Kurisu finds, Kurisu's dad takes and stops him getting to Russia.
Also, in certain world lines the 'time war' is inevitable so the only thing people who can move between world lines can do is try to get onto the Stein;Gate world line. There's an interesting question about sacrifice and selfishness because people must be sacrificed in order for the Steins;Gate world line to be realised. (Ferris's dad for example)
It's also slightly selfish that people who can move between world lines only need worry about themselves because everything they care about will be fine in the Steins;Gate world line.

And for me Zero is far above fan fiction level. It actually brings new and interesting story ideas and characters on the table. Maho and Dr. Leskinen are great additions to the cast. Yuki is also great. Only Mayuris two other friends are kinda bad because they do literally nothing. But I guess that's the point? They most likely are here to show us that Mayuri has other things going for her besides Okarin and the Lab. Makes her feel a little bit more real if you ask me.
Though I have to say Samurai Ruka and Soldier Faris are really cringy. You'd think she changes her attitude after her town gets destroyed by WW3.

Most is mediocre. And most stories in everything is mediocre or bad. If I had watched S;G0 before/instead of Steins;Gate, I would love it because it's science fiction with actual science parts (for example Star Wars are sf, but we don't get any explanation of the science, so it's a different genre for me). And time travel. Although probably I would consider it having a potential more than being good. It's story about things I like, but it's a mediocre story. It had unnecessary characters, unnecessary and unresolved subplots, some of the subplots made no sense, it would be better to explore some subplots more than making a lot of them and leaving them without any impact on the future or any resolution. Some of them could have impact on the character, but for me not enough. (I kinda enjoyed watching it (at the beginning), I liked the Okarin having PTSD for example and I liked the idea, but then I was mostly disappointed in what was going on).

They really could have done anything plot wise in SG as show had so much freedom but they decided to adapt VN and they didn't even do that right and VN wasn't all that good. For example Psycho Pass season 2 was bad but I wouldn't call it shit as even original authors (before they left after first season) said that Psycho Pass universe really didn't have freedom for 2nd season.Yet SG that had all that creative freedom ended up worst.

"They can only leap back a certain time because the state of the mind chances too much"
Okabe was in a coma so the state of the mind didn't change. That is why he could do the time leaps.
Agree with most of your points but when you don't like a show you shit all over it even when not applicable.
I didn't even finish the show since it was so boring and slow, but I did enjoy the VN (even though it is ~30 longer) and hearing your criticisms I strongly believe that the show is much worse than the VN. Though you wouldn't VN like it either based on your criticisms.

Questioning why Okabe was cautious about person who killed Mayuri countless times, criticising awesome future Rukako and awesome death of that character, missing everything about Okabe's coma and how and why he was kept there, rambling about what you think S;G was about for half of the video and why it was great? Really? You missed or twisted so many things in just this one video. This one is the weakest tbh.
It's like you run out of material and got nothing better to say about it. Though you did great job with previous 3 videos and captured perfectly why that show is nothing like S;G 0

rep reading the VN shouldn't be necessary to watch the anime.

Suck it up nerd. The first season didn't need you to read the VN to be a good one. So much things didn't make sense in the second season logically. From the 1st season okabe should have had a closure with moeka and it was mentioned in this video. What's so awesome about a cliche death scene? When did rukaku became a cyborg able to jump from several stories high, don't take leg damage, then proceed to melee several highly trained soldiers with guns?
You just closed your mind and ears when you see the title.

@@dharmdevil I watched the entire video and took in what he said, trust me. It's just that me and many other fans are sick of people with large fanbases misguiding people with lies and bent truths. If you read my comment you'll see I agreed with a few things that Digi said although mostly only things from the anime since the director was shittier.

@@AhkoRC But it should be to critique a story.

    • @AhkoRC
      @AhkoRC 6 років тому +1

It shouldn't. If you need to read the source material to have a grasp on the adaptation, then it's a failure of an adaptation. Saying "it makes more sense in the source" just means it has failed in that regard.

Very nice! Thoroughly entertaining as the rest of this series is. I really enjoyed the analysis parts. The passion I feel that Digi has for shitting on this series he hates is great.
It's not a perfect review though. People have pointed this out before, but Digi does get a lot of the details wrong. While that doesn't detract from many of the big-picture criticisms, it DOES distract from them greatly. For example him being unable to distinguish SERN's dystopia from Post WW3 makes me feel like he hasn't been paying attention at all and casts his other interesting and well thought out criticisms into doubt. It's a "If he was wrong about X, maybe he was also wrong about Y" kinda of feeling. Still overall this was a great review series and has made me give S;G 0 a second look.
Well, I actually got bored of the series a ways in and dropped it, but now I don't feel like there's much worth coming back for hahaha. Especially since I got bored in the first place. Videos like this one are really cathartic because they put the underlining thoughts and reasons into words.
I hope you'll find more anime that drive you to review like this!

just as an answer to number 5 on your writing oversight roundup, that would only terminate the timeline if it wasn't operating under multiverse theory, which it would have to, since lab coat microwave guy is constantly contacting the alpha timeline. also, just a thought i had, but if you affect an earlier version of yourself, it shouldn't do anything to you, since your personal timeline wouldn't be affected at all. time travel is weird and kind of brain bending.
