Have eaten a lot of bluefish while surf fishing at Hatteras Island...11 ft rod, mid to latter 1970s. We filleted them, nailing them on a vertical piece of heavy plywood while doing so.
I'm from Massachusetts and fishing for Blues is beyond fun. When they're running and schooling they'll hit on an old sneaker and if you know how to cook'em, they're great!
Hey Bri - another awesome video. Thanks for helping the world forget the absolute crap situation we're all in at the moment. I'm being cheeky here ... Loved the new version of catch and release for your bait! ;-) Just kidding. Enjoyed the shorter format - I realize that the weather conditions weren't ideal, so thanks for giving us even this little bit of a fishing mission. Stay safe and well - us folks downunder need a little levity and humour to get through our underpants-tightening lockdown situation. Thanks again ... cheers from Sydney, Australia. :-)
I'm in CT and we get lots of Blues this time of year, but they still get a bad rap. Bleed them, soak them in buttermilk or mayo, smoke them with Alder and top off with Cajun spice and lemon ..... Yumm! Eating same day and cleaning out the bloodline is a must. That's the perfect size to eat, not the big gators.
WTg. Bri, I'm from CT. and we had Blue fish often ,Try this recipe next time ,Bleed ,Filet, wrap in aluminum foil with Onions tomatoes and peppers sliced ,add a pat of butter a dash of seasons lemon and a splash of white wine ,throw it on the grill 10 min. flip and finish till flakey and enjoy ,peeps could not believe it was Blue fish. Tight Lines Joe
Yeah up north people would stand in line waiting for the blue fish boats to come in. Now when they are 20 pounds they are like redfish, get super bloody.
Your right, up north. But only when nothing else is caught. Cocktail blues , 12-14”. Bleed them right away & get em on ice as fast as you can. I checked out your SkiDoo link. It s missing a small live well. If you can, look up jet ski Brian & look at his set ups. Especially his Double trouble ,Back in Black skis. It has been a while since I last been to his site but….
Up here in NJ I catch and eat bluefish all of the time, as long as you bleed them out as soon as soon you catch them they are not bad at all. People in FL must not be doing it right . Lol. Dont forget to take the cheek meat ..some good eats right there.
Im from up north where the charter boats used to go out and target bluefish, (because thats what there was), most weren't crazy about eating them. Lots don't like them at all.
Did you give up kayak fishing since you bought Sea Doo? Tarpon was really hot in Boca Grande pass, but it is over now. You should go next year, you see thousands of tarpons there.
I have eaten Bluefish, there alrite, the key is to cut the blood line out to remove the really fishy taste. Another thing is, don't get them, they are pretty greasy already. I catch them in the Outer Banks NC, all the time, and give them to other people sometimes, or throw them back. They are very fun to catch, good fight and very aggressive, I catch them with a gotcha plug, off piers. Nice Work Bri- ATB .
HMMM. I might try it again. I caught blue fish at some rigs off of Texas Gulf Coast. Now, I didn't bleed them and the meat was as grey as a king mackerels. In fact it looked so much like King Mackerel that I got them mixed up together after filleting the fish and they all ended up in the same bags. I'll try again, but I'll bleed them before I slide them in the fish bag. Hopefully I'll get better results next time.
Just bleed them straight away, fillet and cook with salt pepper lemon zest on a fresh ciabatta slice with rock and olive oil! Best thing ever. Also bleed fillet , soak in brine and smoke! You’ll thank me later! In Australia we chase them off the beaches for table fare!
I've tried bluefish. It's okay.....not my favorite. My brother-in-law, however, loves them. He gets any I catch. 😊 Enjoyed your video....always great to see what you are up to.
So funny, A lot of Floridians will eat and love mullet but turn their noses up at bluefish. I'm from Florida and absolutely love bluefish. I'll also eat jack creval (sp) lol
Brine for 24 hrs in some sugar and salt in the water. Dry appropriately til you get a good pellicle. Smoke low heat til nearly dry with some brown sugar sprinkled on them. Remove from skin and flake. Make fishcakes the way you like them. Hated bluefish til I learned how to do this. Now I keep every one of them and impress the hell out of people. Do the same with the Spanish.
Basically, deep-frying is also one way to cover the fishy taste of the meat. To actually taste the meat, try steaming fish meat. You will be able to tell the differences after that.
Could be trolling SeaDoo.....not Bri, for heaven's sake. SeaDoo has faced a good bit of criticism for their IDF problems, the related customer service and responses to those problems and long delivery times for their PWCs. 👍for Bri.
I do wish I had your kind of attitude, nothing seems to upset you- it's just another experience for you to laugh about. Like dropping the bait, I'd of gotten a little upset and cursed- definitely no smile
No this is all that you don't answer comments anyway but yeah I eat blue fish if you want to fish one of the best fishing piers on the East Coast go to Deerfield Beach fishing pier if you ever peer fish that's where I catch my blue fish and yes I eat them they're damn good
I absolutely love the SeaDoo videos! Your channel is awesome! I have watched nearly every video and you just keep getting better! Well done!
Hi Bri fresh blues are good your fishing videos are great
That pass you went through to get to the ocean has produced a lot of fish. Snapper, Trout, Snook, Redfish, Gag grouper.
Hello Bri thanks for the journey good video 🌊🤙🏼🐟

Epic video Bri with beautiful drone shots. Gosh you look so tiny on those new Seadoo lol. Be safe out there. Aloha from Kansas

Awesome job. You make that look easy. Keep pushing the limits and trying new things in that Doo! We’ll watch it every time.

In Brooklyn NY they have boats that go out almost everyday for blues. I always sold mine on the pier, made good money as a kid.
We have caught Blue Fish off the North Jetty at Sebastian Inlet and ate them also they were pretty good we did Bleed them out . Enjoyed it BA

Love bluefish we smoke them up here in the north make a patie! Good video Brie
Great video Bri !! I love all the knowledge you share . Thanks so much for what you're doing , you are truly inspiring!!
When bluefish are small (1-3 lbs) they are excellent pan fried, larger ones are delicious smoked. The oil in them is Omega 3 & very healthy.

Damn right on the bleed out!
Enjoyed that Bri the fish looked good too. Heck i will save a galftop and eat them too they are not bad fried 👍

Been waiting for this. I know it's another awesome video! 👌
You always make enjoyable videos!
Just watched on FSMidwest. Congrats! You’re big time now.
I have eaten and will again! To me, they are like Mackerel… only one way to cook them, fresh and southern fried!🙌🏻
Bri, I'm old enough to be your dad and I'm proud of you! Your pal, Steve in Huntington Beach.
I like your positive attitude 😊👍 Great job
My new favorite channel
Nice work! You have mastered that see doo. Keep up the excellent content! Your intro was top notch!!!
Thank you Sean!

Back in the day, Red Lobster offered Bluefish as a lunchtime special. I ate it every Friday! I would again if I could!
That Sea Doo is a Floaty Fishing Machine! 🎣

Nice little video for my birthday, lol. Going to try and get out for an evening seadoo run, but traffic is not looking good for me right now.
Happy Birthday Brian!!!!
@@bafishing Thanks Bri
Yep, good eats think people have gotten spoiled? Also make a great live bait for king if your regs allow it, some states don't though.
Really enjoy fishing adventures. Good stuff 💕
Loved the video! Great to see you, Bri!! How have you been?

Thank you Addison!
I havent laughed that hard in a while. I think its a shark. Oh its a trout... oh man that was good
Just bleed them straight away, fillet and cook with salt pepper lemon zest on a fresh ciabatta slice with rock and olive oil! Best thing ever. Also bleed fillet , soak in brine and smoke! You’ll thank me later! In Australia we chase them off the beaches for table fare!
Bre do you realize how amazing you are ❤️
That and those onion rings looked pretty damn good!
Curious, I'm sure you've mention this somewhere in all your amazing videos, but what type Sunblock do you use?
Please and Thanks 😊
Keep up the video 🎥
I've tried bluefish. It's okay.....not my favorite. My brother-in-law, however, loves them. He gets any I catch. 😊 Enjoyed your video....always great to see what you are up to.
I enjoyed the video. What do you use as bait to catch the pinfish?
Blue Fish are actually very good eating if cleaned and cooked properly
So funny, A lot of Floridians will eat and love mullet but turn their noses up at bluefish. I'm from Florida and absolutely love bluefish. I'll also eat jack creval (sp) lol
Missed the live stream that really sucks
A SHARK? No a Trout. LOL!
Of course they’re pretty good
Idk why the hate with bluefish. Cooked the right way it’s good
Yup, especially if you bleed them & put them on ice immediately.

What could possibly get a thumb down before it starts?
Probably a troll.

Wasn't me but I would guess it was someone that has tried bluefish and didn't like it or just one that refuses to eat them.
Nice!!
You are awesome
Does anybody know if you can hook up a bait tank to this jet ski
Looked good 3 me!
Diffently the small ones are banging eating the same day you catch them they make great sandwiches the big ones have to much blood in the meat
how you like that seadoo? been looking at them myself.
I'm loving the 2021 with the new IDF system, it helps a ton when I fish offshore and I suck up weeds. It's a fun way to fish!
A sock will taste good if you battered and fry it right
When I lived up north we would smoke ours 😋
How about a bonita?
i want that jetski!!!
Bri is this your job now? I notice you have a companion boat with you and much more professional video. Not that I didn't love you personal stuff.
Hi Steve, I still work at the University full time. I have a show now on Bally Sports Network. Season 1 is premiering this month :)

Yo you Tuff.
Yes i would eat a Bluefish
Bleed them out and smoke em whole. The smaller ones are better eating
I'd rather eat bluefish than nasty mullet.
Bleed them out. Cut the bloodline out.... delicious
