  • SO...I BOUGHT A POLICE CAR and I'm going to rebuild it!
    in todays video guys and girls, i'm going to make a start on rebuilding my newest purchase, a 2014 retired Police car. I bought this car as it has done incredibly low mileage (it was a demo vehicle) and is going to be my new daily driver so i can keep the Focus RS off the road this winter!
    Hope you enjoy the video, leave a like if you do and subscribe if you're new around here

The blue and yellow reflective decals are not trade marked or belonging to the police its a colour they are reconignized and associated with. Which you could argue however there would be a fine line and you would probably be pulled over alot. Telematics is normally situated in the boot. 20,000 miles is low for a former police car. They normally withdraw them from service at 100,000 miles.
    Find out who did the conversion work. In the case of Vauxhalls, it is Vauxhall themselves who do the conversion work at their factory at Luton, but find out anyway.

    In the early 80s I bought an ex police mk5 cortina 2.0s. Back then a lot of people believed that police cars were "suped up", if you ever asked a copper they always said that they weren't. Well I don't care what anyone says, that cortina was as quick as f*ck, even by today's standards. It was also extremely thirsty, about 20 mpg. I bought it because my mate had one and I loved it but mine wasn't just a bit faster it was like other 2 litre fords were towing a caravan.

      I wouldn’t say abused. Driven enthusiastically but damage is repaired properly and services intervals are met. I have driven these with 140k on the clock and they drive ok. Interior removed to recover wiring. Radios etc are removed and stored prior to deployment and then loosely put back for sale. I know there are idiots everywhere but the majority of drivers of these I know aren’t that bad. I would check the brakes though as they suffer when driven on extended blue light runs which means warped discs as they get warmed up with the extra braking effort then all of a sudden the car stops with hot brakes and the part of the disc next to the pads and in the caliper cools slower which overtime bends the disc. Also it means that brake dust gets caked on everywhere.

    Best thing to remove stickers is a steamer, or boiling water. With a steamer the stickers come off clean and then any residue remove with a caramel wheel.

      Does it not make the paintwork too hot?

    • @123doblo
      @123doblo 3 роки тому +1

      No pal it works amazing. I always use that technique using a karcher steamer and the stickers come off clean and it also melts the glue behind which then comes off using just paper towels. Look up a caramel wheel they are the best way of removing the glue but don’t damage the paint at all. Just finished watching the fifth video and have got to say your videos are really good, nice way to spend a Christmas morning. You still using that car

    You probably think I’m lying when I say this mate , but warm marmalade works , had a few pals of mine prank me by putting stickers on my car and it left like a sticky residue , similar to the one in this video , anyways apply warm marmalade , leave it for a min or two then it should come off after you dab with a hot sponge.

    Vauxhall Astra J "Sports Tourer" Diesel manual 5dr estate - 1.6 CDTi 16V ecoFLEX Tech Line :)
    I actually want the 1.3 CDTi 16V ecoFLEX SE estate that was sold up to a 63 plate as my second car for my second time round driving hopefully in a few years, usually a few for sale. Estate for space for a bigger sound system, 1.3 CDTI for insurance reasons, and SE because it takes a double DIN adapter without any issues unlike the Tech Line :P

    Noticed on the number plate Woods of West Calder that garage is 5mins from my house and the police station is opposite the garage it’s an unmanned police station I think that police car sat round the back most of the time surrounded by trees. More than likely West Lothian police stripped that car themselves for an ex police car that’s a pretty shocking way to leave it.

      Admittedly nitrosilvia only put a few short clips on UA-cam of the police car's restoration. That's in contrast to his more recent restorations (mainly Rovers but a Vauxhall Senator 3.0 too) where his output is prodigious and really shows the dedication you need to properly rescue a car.
