Hey bud, love your content (and your South African accent). Keep it up! I did want to mention that it sounds like you may be clicking the mouse to deactivate the laser beam after cracking and extracting the rocks. You don't actually have to do that since the game automatically does it for you. I noticed once in this video that you actually inadvertently turned your extraction laser back on after the game turned it off for you as a result of your unnecessary click. Just figured I'd mention it since it seems maybe you are not aware that the game does turn it off for you automagically.
You’re the only UA-camr on the planet that doesn’t do 5 minute introductions telling us your life story and reading a 30 minute add read and then begging for likes and subscribes. Thank you for this content dude. It’s awesome.
I'm happy you enjoy the content, I'm a bit paranoid sometimes that people won't stick around so I try to get going as fast as possible and cut the boring things out
First mining video I've watched. Very well done and easy to follow. Putting the keys on the screen for the various functions is quite helpful. Thank you!
Regressions happen... Turns out making games (and software in general) is hard. I'm a Senior Software QA Engineer specializing in Test Automation with almost 30 years experience. I've seen a LOT of regressions. Test Automation can help catch them. CIG announced they were working on automating their tests, but I haven't heard anything about that effort in a couple years. Maybe it didn't pan out?
@@PaulMEdwardspeople have no idea that there is thousands lines of code behind this.. shit can break it’s just sad they constantly blame the devs for it.. or am I thinking to simple?
How many other games have developers that dont break dozens or hundreds of unrelated mechanics every time they add content or push a patch? I have never played another game with such bad version control, not even remotely close, and I LIVE in early access, alpha and beta games. I love this game in particular but I'm tired of making excuses for their mistakes and decisions. @MasteryGuns
@@CrunchyJoints yeah makes sense I just noticed that all they want is to push more and more things to the game like ships, pyro.. but they forget how buggy the base game already is.. I know what you mean
@@MasteryGuns No shit doesn't break when established rules are followed. I work in software development since the early 2000s. For me it looks like at CiG they either don't care if something breaks (they can call it an "alpha" indefinitely after all and break features as they please, even in live builds) or they have such high overturn that there is no time to tell new engineers what to do and how to do it. CiG seems to completely lack any sort of testing system, unit tests, regression tests, etc. they just release an update on that 500 different engineers worked and none of them knows what the other is doing.
This was EXACTLY what I needed to know! I am recording Ep. 4 of Zero to Hero on my channel and it's so difficult! Thanks for leading the way. I'm going to do this tonight.

i rented the ship for astroid mining, i even rented the cargo ship. i had 8 transactions in the refinery. they were finished after a day and i died suddenly while unloading them on the ship where i went to sell them. of course the goods on the ship and in the elevator were trashed. all those hours of labor were wasted.
I feel your pain. I’ve realized recently that this is a game better suited for just dicking around with friends than trying to seriously play and progress. it’s too janky and frustrating. I tried to sell a bunch of drugs and scrap last night and not a single freight elevator was working
Bit confused.. this video suggests to avoid Titanium with a density of 151 but Teranite of 341 or gold of 630, etc are more favorable. If the density is avoided due to storage it doesn't make sense to strictly go by density. It has to be sell value vs cargo storage.. so, any clarification on this would be cool, thanks,
@4:29 new to the game here: but with regards to density. Isn't SCU a measure of volume, while Density speaks to mass. Doesn't that simply mean that high density means you need more of it to create 1 SCU? Kind of like gold having a density of 630. You'd have to find 6x more gold than aluminum to have the same SCU, wouldn't you? Low density would fill up your cargo hold faster.
for a while, just cash out on the spot. It's only half, but too many glitches plus an update is coming any minute. Even small updates wipe out your mining orders. Nothing like doing 4-5 mining runs to log in and see an update wiped out your orders. Then a week later happens again lol
I don't think density comes into the equation as the compositions shows total scu and then a percentage of what that scu contains. Also if you split it it is possible to roll a good split I would have definaly split that first bex asteroid
Gadget is a little bit broken right now, that's why I didn't use it. Quantanium rocks come in all sizes, probably found a big one where you need a group to help break it.
I’ve been trying to load my nomad ((24scu) but it doesn’t work. Does the game not give you smaller boxes to accommodate this? I bet it’s trying to spawn a 8scu box and failing…
You can add Lasers but I don't think you can use modules. You will also have to physically change the laser with a tractor beam. You will need to first click left alt + k to unlock your component ports.
Just to be clear. Which Alt, left or right and is it right "click" while holding alt to switch to "Extraction" mode? I just zoom in when I right click. I'm stuck in fracture mode looking at this asteroid I just fractured. Thanks.
@@PaulMEdwards Ya, after 45 min of searching through options I finally stumbled on to it. I got used to the Vulture's setup, that this one had me for a loop. Thanks for the info. I'm writing this onto pages n pages of notes to hang in front of me. I've spent waay to much time searching how to play, instead of actually playing lol.
Or get a vulture and with 13 scu make close to 180k-190k very fast. Mining used to be great when Yela had a lot of quantanium. Then they changed how mining works and cut down how much you get for quantanium by more than half. Honestly, these days, if you want auec, just do salvage, if you want free armor, do bunkers. Hauling isn't profitable, even when you have max rep, same with bounties.
Secondary materials have nothing to do with cargo space, fragments will split and you just chose fragments with high bexalite content and low titanium. Secondary materials impact how hard it is to mine, they have diffrent resistance, stability and so on. As long as you get ~30% good primary mineral you go for it.
They patch the prospecter using Mole bag thing. I tried two times and my prospecter enven lost its orinal bags. and also, my Mole doesn't allow me to go into side rooms to use those side lasers. so I play solo Mole, I can only use the front laser now!

Find a friend with a Mole - "borrow" 4 of his bigger bags which gives you 48 scu instead of 32 scu.
You can also just buy the bigger bags and put them on

You can change it but you have to unlock the ports, bring up the mining head on the elevator and swap it yourself.
Is there any way to auto unload or sell from a C2?
Autoloading/Unloading is broken right now, and it also costs so much that it usually makes what you're hauling unprofitable.

I just zoom in when I right click.

Probably hauling. The amount that he made here mining for the time spent wasn’t worth it. Hauling can soon accumulate a lot if you link the deliveries
