Lotus Evora GT - (Track) One Take

The Lotus Evora GT may be a minor upgrade from last year's Evora 410, but honestly, it still deserves to be counted among the best driving cars money can buy at any price. For one, it's the only V6 engine in production right now that sounds objectively good; the fact that it's a lightly modified Camry motor makes that even better. It has no adjustments, because it needs no adjustments. It is good at absolutely everything, and its limits are easily approachable, even though it is very fast. Great car.
Lotus provided the vehicle and insurance for this video.
"Make the suspension adjustable and they will adjust it wrong"
Colin Chapman
i guess it's kinda off topic but do anyone know a good place to stream new series online?
@Maison Cory flixportal :D
@Zev Karter Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it !
@Maison Cory no problem =)
Lotus: "Sport mode? I AM SPORT MODE"
I appreciate the "Lotus Philosophy". A true driver's car.
"Your commercial HERE!" is missing at the start lol
I love my evora and will be trading up for the gt. Before I got my evora ,I crossed shopped drove many Porsche , Ferrari cars and they both didn't offer what I wanted the evora just does some things better. And plus living in la the evora just stands out more then any sports of the other sports cars. Everyone has a Porsche/Ferrari/lambo. But no matter where I go in my evora it turns heads non-stop and people love to ask questions and take pictures. I don't really care what gm will offer. It's still won't be like a lotus
Super underrated car. I used to want a Lotus Elise when I was a kid 🔥
For $95,000?
UNKN0VVN they cost about $30,000 used.
I still do. Especially now that it's attainable for an average Joe like me.
Just get one, had mine for 10 years.

@@craigyirush3492lol not anymore. They’re 40k+
The first minute is still better than any vehicle virgin or doug demuro video
Hashim Ahmad lmao
Sounds like modern Lotus are made to be drivers cars... which can never be a bad thing.
Matt : It understeers
Also Matt 10 seconds later : I love the grip at the front end
Nvr Dwn these are not mutually exclusive things you know? A car can have lots of grip and then default to understeer once those limits are surpassed....
I didnt mean it as a negative, it just made me chuckle.
I chuckled because my first thought was, you love understeer?
Haha I still laugh a little
@@TheSmokingTire Matt, didn't Joe teach you never to read the UA-cam comments??
@@TheSmokingTire dude evora 400,410 or this with ps4 tyres. For daily driving. Also which has the most seamless Revmatch clutch stab response?
As someone with sweaty balls I really missed that sponsor message.
Thanks for pointing out the export error - it’s been fixed and is processing now
TheSmokingTire will you be driving the 2020 gt500 at some point?
The lotus is so small seeing it in person. Very cool car.
Thank goodness the video started eventually! These cars are magic! We did a babe shoot with one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Matt I own the Grey 400 you drove in 2016. Heavily modded now and pretty sure beat GT track times. Your one of few guys who truly appreciates Evora. Poor dealer network hurts awareness to this great sports car.
02:35 “feel comes before performance”. How true... at least for all of us non- professional racing drivers!👌
May have less grip than the 911 but it sure as hell sounds better.
Which is embarrassing considering a Toyota Camry engine can sound better than a Porsche engine.
R'lyeh the Dead embarrassing?? I have Toyota Aurion TRD (same engine as evora) and it sounds beautiful. Check the acceleration of it on my channel
R'lyeh the Dead I'm not surprised at all. Other than the NA engines, Porsche are going the way of AMG/BMW/Audi. That and it's not like Japanese engines don't have a huge legacy in racing and massive reputation for reliability.
I love that they use a hotrodded camry engine for this car.
That V6 sounds fantastic and nothing close to what Toyota is producing.
Toyota block, reworked by Lotus. Imagine if a Camry sounded like that!
SMP I coolant agree more, such a glorious sound! I was shocked how great my 400 sounds
@@Gorbyrev The engine internals are stock. Lotus add engine management, a charge-cooled blower and the exhaust.
@@robmanueb. I stand corrected.
The 2GR is a short stroke, big bore 60° V6, and that angle/stroke/bore contributes to the feel of the motor itself
That ad at the beginning is pretty “dark” Matt 😉
Adblock has dark mode now lol
Impressive as the new vette might be I'll take the Lotus. Hoping to pick one up in the coming months.
This one take has an especially good sense of speed. Car looks fast as shit.
This One Take is sponsored by nothing
Yeahhhh!👌
Can we take a moment to celebrate the awesomeness that is that homer helmet?!
Blank screen until 1.43
Any Evora in the 4XX series is the most fun you can have with your clothes on....in a car. The GTs are beautiful but the 400 is still the best value if somebody wants all the things a Lotus provides at the best price.
Ever driven something from the Elige platform??? I would argue that is even more fun, and for less money too.
Lew Barrett love my 400, like you said the price is way too compelling in comparison to the GT. But, I do like the subtle changes on the GT!
@@Te1ecastermaster Elige is a great drive, an even more tactile and classic Lotus take but the Elige (and the Elise) serve a different purpose. You can everyday an Evora without making excuses to each passenger you take when they try to get out of the thing after you made them dizzy!. People complain about getting into an Elige but the real work is in getting out! It's a step further in track focus and a bigger step back in day to day. As we know, resale is best in class making an Elige a brilliant ownership proposition.....in this country anyway. The Evora's not there yet as far as resale since they're still available new but it will be just as all its platform mates are. The Elige is more for Lotus people while the Evora is something any enthusiast can sidle up to and have a complete, reasonably practical experience on the road. It's one of a very few accessible cars Lotus has built as respects living with it.. I can't say that about the Elige or Elise even though they're so pure. There's nothing else quite like the 4XX on the market when it comes to enjoying an exotic event every day.
One of the best small supersports you can buy. I just wish they weren't so damn expensive.
Don't worry, they are coming down. give them another year and the 400 will be in the mid 60s. Not bad from a 100k+ car and 4 years later.
@@Te1ecastermaster cool thing too is that once they're not new anymore, they barely drop any further in value. idk why, but you can buy pretty much any used lotus and sell it for the same money 3 years later.
@@givemeajackson Yep, i know. I own one. Best rash decision I've ever made.
@@givemeajackson because they're very rare and have a huge amount of heritage
One of the most beautiful cars ever made.
That's great the way you through the car around the track and narrate in a mostly calm manor.
Lotus make some of the best handling cars on earth. Superb UK based car company.
I own NA Evora and basically sums up my feeling with the car... powertrain and chassis ain't perfect but when I drive the car, it feels like unlike any other car in the market. Some people don't get Hydraulic steering feel, mechanical throttle and overall communication with chassis but it's amazing
I have an 22' Camaro SS 1LE but man this car is the next car I am going to get! I would be nice to own both and compare the two!
I love the green paint on this car it looks absolutely amazing
I don't usually like green for a car color but this one looks awesome. I'm driving an Evora S and I love it.
😍wow now that's smoking 🔥
"The Evora GT is 3100 pounds with the engine in the middle." Americans think "hmmm that's a little heavy for a Lotus." Brits think "WOW THAT'S CHEAP FOR A LOTUS!" XD
That helmet kills me, you look like Homer.
Lmao he looks like Homer even with it off
The Mercedes M276 Dela 30 V6 Bi turbo sounds great as well, and natural. These are 2 best sounding V6s by far.
I'm glad you compared it to the Corvette C8!!
Is the C8 challenging other sport cars, in your option?
Me: yeah I’m still learning to heel-toe well enough to use on track.
Matt: I’ll blame it on my wide new balances.
As someone who regularly tracks a 400 ... Matt is bang on about the throttle blip. Never have had any car react so strangely to heel toe throttle blips ... almost like the ECU is tuned to ignore blips. Literally my only compliant about the car.
@@zoomby_u5323 Might be the result of re-using the Camry motor and its associated ECU stack. I've driven 6 cylinder Subarus with this kind of issue, mainly affects 3-2 downshift where there is a big difference. Surely there are aftermarket tunes for these that should fix this.
@@GeorgeXian honestly I get this with my BRZ too, 3-2 downshift as well. Granted, it's the first manual I've ever driven. But feel 50/50 about this issue usually since I'm not sure whether it's my fault or not. I've mostly learned to just give it better, longer blips but wish it worked closer to how 6-5, 5-4, and 4-3 do.
I was looking at this car, the new Corvette and a used 360 Ferrari. I see the values of the Ferrari holding and going up with a gated shifter. A recent 430 shifter sold close to 200,000 on Bat and that was a $50,000 increase from last year. I have not seen the Lotus increase in the used market and I don’t see the Corvette doing that unless they make a small limited production.
Great video. When you mentioned the Super Sport tires, are you referring to the Pilot 4S?
Incredible point re Cup 2's.
Fabulous machine in a lovely colour.
Nice driving man. Love that car.
Wish I saw more of these on the road
We like the exclusivity.
@@nosirrahx I can see that point. Just make sure your exclusivity doesn't turn obscurity. Might just kill the brand as it has before.
@@762x69 Its a risk for sure. On a related note we are all looking forward to see what the C8 does to the market. The C8 wont have any exclusivity (like the C7) so the price of exclusivity should become more established as a result.
I know you’ve said before that some cars look slow on a track I must say that looks really fast & sounds great
I have to wonder why Toyota didn't use this engine and Edlebrock supercharger in the Supra. Maybe the new MR2?
That track looks fun
Would wider tires front and rear stop the understeer in this car. If so, maybe Lotus could widen the fender to accommodate 15 or 20mm fatter tires.
All smoking tyre and One take should be at a track, even testing road cars, like he did at Eagles canyon.
TheSmokingTire - how does one go about getting a car onto One Take these days? I have something you may be interested in.
That sexy sound that lotus make
Lotus is one of the best kept secrets.
That helmet is a blast :D
Damn I should've bought one had a chance

MATT this or 400 or even 410? For daily driving all with ps4 tyres. Please answer
VIDEO STARTS @ 1:40
Awesome video, I love what lotus did with the GT. But, hard to justify over my 400.
It is not for you then, it is for the new customer...
@@elvincuevas1727 ooh most definitely, If I didn't already own, a GT is an absolute no brainer. Absolutely perfect what they've done
Nice film noir editing.
....Diggin' the Homer Simpson Helmet.............
What happened to the gt4 driven hard at Goodwood?
Cool Helmet , where did you get it from
Can I fit that motor in my S1 Europa?
This over the 911 any day of the week.
Video starts at 1:45
I get the comparison between this and the C8. But this has a manual. For 30k some may think that is worth the extra cost.
You'd honestly pay $30k just to have a manual? So if the c8 Corvette was offered in manual for $90k ($60k + $30k) you'd think that is appropriate? I'm just wondering because in my mind a manual transmission can't be the only thing that separates the Corvette and the Evora ,not with a $30k delta.
Happy Halloween Guys 🎃
The new C8 will not have the same feel as this, I think you said it best about the 911 the new C8 will be to digital.
Do you watch your videos before you post them?
Not being negative, just curious?
Basically the engione that Toyota could have used in an ALL TOYOTA, TOYOTA SUPRA.
I'm not the first to say something like this.... but this car is more SUPRA than the BMW that currently carries the name.
At least the Toyota engine made it to the last 6 at PCOTY.
Driven LOTUS before so knows - pedal box is tight - complains his shoes are to wide - MATT - get yourself some driving shoes ....
Solid sports car. Just needs to be $30K cheaper to be taken seriously.
at 105k there's no way id buy one. they are nice lightweight nimble but at that price point theres just way too many options. You can get a comparable car for performance at a fraction of this price.
Thank you!!!! Analog and feely!!!! ... Just can't stand the digital robots!!!!
Hey my dudes you have a minute 40 of dead are in the beginning of this video
I want (says the ‘15 4S owner).
A super-charged Camry engine ?
Sounds "Supra" !!
Why do you want it give massive oversteer? That’s not what it’s about...
Canyon driving much better then track drives
What GM is doing with the Corvette will change the super car industry forever.
Mark my words, after this, conventional brands will go the same path and in 10 years we will see Kias and Mazdas up there with the big boys.
You should get one for yourself ☺
I think the way GM is treating their workers will turn alot of people off
Toyota could’ve used or bought Lotus all together and build the Supra from there too bad there cheapsakes 😅
Gg
However the average person can't afford it.
Toyota V6 😴 , need something more exotic for that price. Something that wails🏎🔥
Should’ve went with a Honda v6.
Nope incorrect

Just a little toy for track. C8 destroys it in every regard.
The lotus has exclusivity, brand image, fun factor (Manual), Handling, Backseats, Less Weight, Idling sound, and more over the corvette.
Camry engine provides zero bragging rights. "But it's supercharged" it's a Camry engine.
Why Lotus, who built the V8 engine in-house for the final Esprit models, sourced a freaking Camry engine is beyond me. What did they tell their own in-house engine builders? "Sorry, you guys aren't good enough, so we're stuffing a CAMRY engine in there"
Almost all F1 constructors are in England. Yet Lotus pretends they're not there. Poor choice made by the now-fired former CEO.
Next time KEEP THE CAR ENGLAND BASED. Just why in the heck do they think almost all F1 development is in England. The F1 BRAINTRUST is in England, that's why.

Too much money. Cayman S with Turbo does the trick.
The radio is something I would not think or worry about, I never use the radio in my sports car, enjoy driving to much, radio interferes.
