2,000 miles In A Lotus Evora GT410 Sport

- I've now completed 2,000 miles in the Lotus Evora GT410 Sport so it felt like a good time to share some of my thoughts about this long term loan.
Available in both 2 seat and 2+2 configurations, and in manual and automatic transmissions, the Evora GT410 Sport draws from the phenomenal Evora GT430 to provide advanced aerodynamics to an already celebrated sports car. Combining the latest design philosophy with a car acclaimed by both critics and customers, it packs raw performance with Lotus’ latest aerodynamic developments.
Employing key elements of the GT430’s sculptured body style, including specifically designed new composite front and rear body panels, but without some of the high downforce elements, the new Evora GT410 Sport enjoys a far subtler and sleeker silhouette. However, as with all Lotus sports cars, aerodynamic downforce is a requirement and this new GT-class coupe generates up to 96kg of downforce (50% more than the Evora Sport 410) making it the new benchmark when compared to similarly priced rivals.
The Evora GT410 Sport is powered by a specially calibrated and tuned higher-output version of Lotus’ supercharged, 3.5-litre 6-cylinder engine with integrated water-to-air charge cooler, producing 410 hp at 7000 rpm and 420 Nm of torque from 3500 rpm. It powers the GT410 Sport from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds (automatic) and the manual version in 4.0 seconds.
The development of the new Evora GT410 Sport afforded Lotus the opportunity to optimise mass, resulting in an unladen weight of 1,297 kg and a lightest possible dry weight of 1,256 kg (including all the optional titanium exhaust, saving 10 kg, and the Lotus-tuned Öhlins TTX aluminium two-way adjustable dampers, saving 13 kg) - a total saving of 98 kg when compared to the Evora 400 benchmark, and up to 28 kg less than the already featherweight Evora Sport 410.

A lot of the other car youtubers seem to be stuck in the loop of car mods, wrap, and first drive videos. Sam is producing great car JOURNALISM, that has a story and an actual point, that is somehow is so rare right now. Also the videography is great! Keep it up Sam, even though your numbers aren't soaring like others, your content is so much more valuable and I'm sure car companies recognize that!
Agree the car wraps the endless poorly engineered mods. On some channel's. There are good channel's besides sams. First drives can be good if you get the right car. Take care
Exactly, I like AutoTopNL and Doug DeMuro a lot.
This guy need way more recognition for his work , he is amazing , good video mate
Very kind. Thank you
Seriously. Can’t believe he doesn’t have more subs than what he does. Close to 500k tho!
Yes, I agree ! I’m rather bored of all the others lash-up content except for Mr M and Raz,
Even c&s Tony can be mildly amusing on rare occasions
@@seenthroughglass mate the next time you in Dubai , Dinners on me 🙏🏽 stay safe you are genuinely good dude 🙂
@@weskdubs he has plenty of subscribers, plus theres a load of other youtubers doing exactly the same thing
Not surprised Sam likes it. Reminds me a lot of his beloved Alfa 4c.
Today was the day that Sam and everybody else realized what Lotus was all about, ignore the interior, ignore all their issues, they're fantastic cars.
LOL "ignore everything that makes them complete shit and they're actually decent cars" 😂... Should've been an Alpine A110 instead
@@A5hTriX no manual gearbox, only a 1.8 turbo engine, not a 2+2, way less power. They aren't comparable at all.
Im guessing the people saying forget about the issues don’t pay a monthly payment for one. When you do thats when you are entitled to your opinion.
@@grey9941 Or maybe there aren't anywhere near as many issues as you think. I own one btw.
RS2Russ I have just got rid of a 410 that was rejected because of issues.
The best car nobody ever buys. Loved my 410 owned for 2 years. Anyone looking at a similar priced German car give your head a wobble. These things are fantastic.
Why did you sell it?
@@Hapkin It was replaced by something red and Italian
@@jonseal7965 So you took a step backwards? ;-)

Sam, my daily driver is a Lotus Evora S MY2012 and it is a blast. I have done over 90000 KMS in it, na dit makes me smile every time!
Same here! 7 years, 60.000km. Not one technical problem. Only lots of fun!
To me, the Evora is the most underestimated car on the road.
I recently bought a 991.2. A good car but no where near as exiting as the Evora.
I will keep and cherish the Lotus for the rest of my life.
Marco Falancia , mine is an IPS too! Manual cannot shift that rapidly!
Absolutely brilliant car. It’s a pleasure every day. Evora 400 2017.
can t take my eyes off that gap in between the steering wheel and the steering column....:)
Why did you have to point it out 😂😂
I do also have a thing with staring at gaps....tho not necessarily in cars :P
Probs because our man STG is a longboi and has it adjusted
ahahahah
This is a bit like when someone pointed out Ricciardos neck. One you see it, you can't stop looking at it
Gordon murray said it's one of the best handing cars he's driven and I don't have a hard time believing him
@DJRICKYDEEUK Gordon Ramsay & Gordon Murray are two very different people
@DJRICKYDEEUK lol
He actually said it was the best handling car, until he drove the Alpine A110 😂That car shits on any lotus
@@A5hTriX Still said it, so they're both great cars. At least lotus will keep making cars unlike Renault's plan with Alpine lol.
@@A5hTriX Only it doesn't sound as good, or have a manual gearchange, or look as good as an Evora. Nor has it ever won Evo Car of the Year.
Sounds like Vicki found out the hard way not to put her cosmetics in the trunk! 😅
You can imagine how well that went down
@@seenthroughglass next video: what its like to sleep in a Lotus Evora 🤣
What is it like to be single 😂
Or Sams... 😂
Seen Through Glass I can imagine the meltdown
Thank you Sam
One of the most accurate reviews of the Lotus Evora GT410 out there 👍
It’s an unbeatable package!
At 80k it’s the buy of the century.
I owned a 1970 Europa S2, A 1989 Esprit SE and a 1995 Esprit S4s. I loved them all and kept the Europa until 2006. The Europa was not stock and had a race tuned R17 Gordini engine with twin side draught Webers. It made 125Hp and weighed approx. 657kg or 1,450 pounds. It was tiny and only 99cm/39 inches tall at the roof. I used to track it and it stuck like glue. It was always a head turner.
I'll never be able to own one of these sorts of exotic vehicles but I'm a petrolhead and enjoy the vicarious pleasure of YT car reviews. This young man has long refined his presentational skills to the point where his reviews are informatively engaging whilst being infectiously jocular (one can't honestly be truly serious about these very expensive luxuries after all!).
That car looks like a belter. Manual gearbox, practicality, reasonable mpg and presumably not outrageous/outlandish servicing costs (thank you Toyota!).
Bravo Lotus!🏎🏁
Great review. I had a first gen NA for 3 years and i loved it. Still miss it.
Im in the US and was passed by an Evora last week on the hwy, what a gorgeous car in the flesh!
Great video Sam. Was brilliant to see your excitement over the car, they really are special and the reactions you get from other people out on the road is amazing.
Look forward to you exploring more cars that surprise!
Love the Evora. I drove one of the early ones when I was between an Elise and a Boxster and it was a lovely balance between the rawness of the Elise and the comfort of the Boxster. It’s on the bucket list 😎👍👌
You made this video so jolly good and so much fun, if anyone buys an Evora, it would be entirely your fault!! Love the video, and this marvellously, brilliantly fun car! Thank you for the superb video, I thoroughly enjoyed it every moment of it, including all the rewinds to watch various snippets over and over!
What an amazing video. Absolutely loved it. And especially the honest open review of it. I still love this car and seeing this has ignited my love all over again. Amazing video Sam and the series with this car also
Awesome review 👍 I've never been able to put into words how it feels driving a lotus but you do it so well!! I'm 6ft in an Exige and yeh traffic lights are always a bit of a issue!
Thank you! Appreciate that. Tall people and sports cars don’t tend to mix well
Omg! The design and that colour..wow!
I have to say Sam; A really well thought out, insightful, beautifully edited video. You deserve a lot of credit for the effort you put into your channel. Top work sir!
You will never find an unfriendly Lotus owner.
Is that right? It is by the one Lotus owner I know. I’m looking to get an Evora, I like the humility of the car vs GT3, 458, etc.
@@heartolearn9413 If you are thinking of buying a Lotus yourself, then you are more than qualified to make that judgment. The question being... are you a nice person? If you're looking to buy a Lotus, then I would say, absolutely.
Yes, you don't just buy a car ... you kind of get a wonderful pet and join a club you didn't know existed before you owned a Lotus ☺️👌👌
Finally a video from a UA-camr in subbed too and a car I’m looking for. Post two Exiges and a 3 year old son I now need an Exige. The rawness. The sound. The overall package.
Great work Sam. Your skills and content have matured to another level. Very professional and insightful! Cheers
Another great video Sam, looks like a really fun car and experience
Great stuff Sam. I have a first gen Evora so am biased but they are sublime drivers cars, even with only 276 bhp. The criminal thing is so few people know about them so your coverage is brilliant. Subscribed!
Incredible engine soundtrack, much enjoyed video STG!
Hands down best car content on UA-cam, keep it up
I keep coming back to these - as you say “hits the sweet spot” - think it’s cemented my desire! Might have to wait for the kids to leave home though 😥
I have a 400. Daily driver and 45,000k in 2 years and still love it. Does the school run with 2 teenagers (though we are all short!). Can go for a weekend away with 4 and light luggage. I have a tan inside Sam.
Another great vid Sam nice to see different cars and content on the tube keep up the good work
Another quality video Sam - keep up the great work 👍
Excellent video. Superb presentation. Just one gripe - couldn't see Twiggy's reaction to that exhaust. Keep it up with the beautiful content Sam.
The Evora GT430 is the most hard core variant and the better comparison to the Cayman GT4, hopefully Lotus will let you try one of these as well. Great video that makes the Evora look very desirable for the first time
I have offered to make that happen. Here's hoping.
The intro: I thought I was watching TheStraightPipes. "I'm yuri, I'm Jacob...AND WE'RE GOING FOR A DRIVE!!!"
I was waiting for the heeersspower en torquee 😂
Sam you are near 500,000 subscribers! Keep the good job mate🌞💙😎
Most underrated car out there, criminally undersold, I changed my 991.1 for one, and it’s better in every respect except for interior perception, but other than switch gear the leather is excellent....test drive one
The Evora and the 911 are similar in that both lack torque. Torque is what moves the car, HP is just a dimensionless number at some arbitrary RPM.
how has it held up from a reliability perspective? Trying to decide between a Lotus and a Cayman but am leaning to Cayman as I do not know much about Lotus other than people says it has its own set of "issues" but they never say what those issues are.
@@ronin120 5 years and multiple track days in my Sport 410. No mechanical issues. Had a rattly window when it was down but fixed in warranty. Super car. Very compliant, great handling and fantastic steering
Ruddy good review Sam. Edit: one of your best videos, made me smile
When someone describes these emotions even after 2 thousand miles, you know the car is utterly brilliant. Yet no one buys it............. Yet i never see it on the road, yet people still go for the Porsche.. Like every single time.. The evora is praised by everyone that drives it, but is often forgotten. Perhaps people will start to notice it when its long out of production.. i hope im wrong, i hope this will sell, especially in the states.
The main problem is lack of dealers in the USA. However they are just starting to feel big love for the Evora GT.
RS2Russ you nailed it. Wife just asked me to drive to Denver because that is the nearest dealer to us and she wants to see one in person. That’s a 7 hour drive just to look.
i had a 2009 launch edition - it was fantastic fun, this 410 seems to address any minor grumbles i had - wonderful on the track
Looks and sounds like an Alpine should. Love this Lotus GT 410 Sport, great video Sam. That exhaust is intoxicating.
No french 4 cyl will ever BE ANY WHERE NEAR A LOTUS V6 ...$ IE TOYOTA..BUT? A FRENCH 4 CYLD? 😂😂😂😂
thanks Sam for reminding us how great the Evora is...
Really good review. Especially appreciate the take on being a taller driver. Always fancied a Lotus...the Elise, but actually like that Evora.
This video has started my lust for Lotus. I just hope they keep making gems like the GT (in America), or that in a few years I'll be able to snag a decent example on the used market. Thank you sir!
Hope you do more videos about Lotus ..many thanks for many entertaining videos 😜
This video is the reason I took my ftype into work today. I said “no can’t take it to work, it’s only motorways”. Then I heard the start of this video and was like “I need to recreate this noise today” drove to work with a huge smile on my face. Great video!!
Love his commentary style, fun and enthusiastic... after all thats what these cars are about isn't it?..
love love love the Lotus content !
Great video again Sam. 👍
Good upload, nice specs on that Lotus.
Sam,
What a great performance car and great review.
A sports car that owners can actually use as a daily and enjoy.
I couldn’t agree more with the lack of relevance to modern day driving conditions of Supercars with in excess of 600 horsepower.
I hope more people consider this as a genuine Porsche alternative.
Lovely thing plus the sound is incredible... Well done Lotus, making a car almost as good as a Porsche with their limitless budget credit to them. 👍
That exhaust button is the best part of that car!!❤️
You say it’s a competitor for the Cayman GT4, but I wonder how second hand values would compare between the 2 cars?
10-year-old Evoras are still worth about 40% of list price, so very slow depreciation. Meanwhile the GT4 is less fun.
LookOutItsCar!!!! I’d disagree. The amount lotus drop in value is minimal
Great road trip, Sam, not that you see much if it in this video but I agree, the Evora GT410 does occupy a particularly sweet spot...
When the T.50 was revealed a couple of weeks ago I thought "that looks quite a lot like an Evora".
This has been my absolut dreamcar since I first saw it... 410 hp is indeed the sweet spot! Also is the combination between usability and racecar. Love it, that’s a true sports car🔥
Most accurate description of the Lotus Evora 400/GT
What an absolute peach of a car. Nice video sam :)
One of the best youtubers out there
Never had any love for a lotus but this thing looks fantastic!👌🏽👍🏽
Lovely review Sam!
My favourite UA-camr behind shmee. Take that as a compliment 👍🏻
Very cool video as always...Love the Lotus
Love the car!! Great video!
Great review Sam 👍
You were saying how surprised you were that the Evora was comfortable for the long journey but I just rewatched Clarkson's initial review of it from top gear and he went on and on about how comfortable it was
Lovely Jubbly Sam, been a fan on here for years now.
Amazingly thorough review my friend! I’m strongly considering one. I’ve never seen one on the road here in the states. Certainly provides that exclusivity factor you won’t find in many other cars in its class. Really separates itself from the commonly seen German competition. My only hang up is the livability of using it as a daily driver. Did you find the cabin to be noisy on the highway? Again, superb review!
Great honest review.
Everybody loves to see a Lotus on the road
Very true.
Big fan from Oz!
Great video. This video is as good as an old top gear review (Clarkson era, not Goffey era...). Harry's garage reviewed this car and loved everything but the price and the alpine multimedia
good to see Lotus getting the spotlight for a change, loved the brand since childhood have to admit I think they need a new Esprit in the range though
It’s Sunday..it’s a Lotus and the car is stunning!
Great car - fantastic review!
Great review. Elise and Exige owner here. You forgot to mention a feature that is becoming increasingly rare, the manual gear shift! (Or sorry if I missed it.)
It looks and sounds fantastic. I would actually prefer this to an old and temperamental Ferrari 360. It's a shame we don't see more of these by youtubers. Thanks Sam. PS: Take Tony for a drive... 🙂
Fun cars! I have a 400 and it has been a blast so far granted we don't get this variant in the states or the GT430 :(
Way to go, Lotus. They showed you can actually make a nice sounding modern exhaust without stupid crackles, pops or bangs. Anyone who knows anything about cars, knows that if there's popping or crackling in the exhaust, the car isn't set up properly.
Great video again 👍🏽👏🏽
That video took me back to 2003 and picking up my VX220 NA...hooning that car down a UK back road made me realise just how much Lotus know about handling...even if the badge said Vauxhall! 😁
Love the way how the evora sounds! I wish my car could get the supercharger!
Nice review. I can genuinely feel the excitement this car gives you driving it. What’s with all the hedgerows? Can’t see anything pulling out from side streets.
Great review! Can you provide some feedback on the A/B comparison you had with this and the GT3 Touring? Obviously they’re different cars but how much “better” was the GT3 over the Evora?
I LIKE ALL YOUR CAMERA ANGLES
Other companies: „we need to make our cars more efficient, quieter and more socially acceptable.“
Lotus: „Low weight, manual, supercharged V6 goes VROOOOOOOOOOM.“
God i love this company 😂
Great video and what a fantastic car
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Sam! Would have been amazing to have see more filming in Europe. Totally get that you had to get back before quarantine. How much longer do you have with it? Please buy one!!!!! 😉
Love the music and video..wakanda forever..
Another great video. The car looks fab.
What's with 'dialled in'? You said it four times in this video?? Never heard you say it before!
Absolutely lovely!
Sam you should get one. I had a 360 before and sold for an Evora. I end up using the Evora way more often and as nice as the 360 is,
it is harder to maintain and hence enjoy as often.
Nice to see an under appreciated car praised
Wow, I have bought cars based on just how they sound, and I would buy this one...this 6 cylinder is intoxicating!
Really enjoyed the video Sam. Great work.
I can’t help compare value of new cars vs some previous greats that have now depreciated. And while it’s not like comparing apples, I find myself wondering if the 40k mile 997 GT3 on eBay for £10k less would provide the same, if not better, experience and value from an ownership perspective. What are your thoughts?
Sam, pester Lotus to let you drive that Esprit that was parked outside when you picked this car up. Was my dream car back in the day - would love to know what they are like to drive!
I‘d love if you could do an Exige 410 video as well comparing the two and reflect on which you think is better
Got a yellow one in france.....i love it
I drool over these new Lotus cars everyday as I pass JCT600
Beautiful car!
Want this car!
