Hey Guys, Thanks for watching! 🥰 When Kachi and I sat down to film this video, we realized that we have TONS of insights that could help you to avoid some of the most common hurdles when building. If you would find value from a DETAILED video on each of the steps we cover, let us know!! We have a lot more to share regarding logistics, timeframes, and budgeting if that would be helpful!
I just paid off my house and don’t like that I have neighbors too close to me. So I am thinking about renting my house and build a new one. I am a bit more interested in buying the land process and getting it ready for foundation.
What materials if any are you purchasing on your own and not using the contractors to supply? For example, I assume you purchase the kitchen cabinets and have a contractor install or do you just pick out what you want for everything and have the contractors bid materials and labor? Some more examples could be light fixtures, sinks, trim, windows......
Yowzers! Husband and I are 25% into this. We live in Colorado and an important point that I have learned THE HARD WAY. The custom building process should be considered in chunks. We are into first chunk - prep work. This was estimated to take 3-12 months before a single shovel is tossed. Budgeting, looking for a lot, drawing, revising, engineering, and then permitting. This seems like my most frustrating time, nothing is happening but everything is happening. We are considering doing a video series as well. Because we went in blind and want to be a guide to others. Lessons learned!
More videos on infill building. Possible topics: Permitting, how to select an architect, zoning and setback requirements, job site conditions, securing the job site, financing deep dive, finding and vetting subs, interest payments and draws, order of selections, budgeting (how much house can you build with your budget), etc
Someone in the land buying stage, it might be a good idea to get a soil sample in the likely home build area to get an idea of how much foundation work will be needed. It can be incredibly expensive if you have to dig 3 to 5 feet snd then buy fill dirt.
Could you please make a video about the costing of the naterials ? What is better or more affordable the cons and pros. We are in the process of findind a land to build in 2 to 3 years. Thank you for your videos, it has helped to understand the process.
Great resource! Understanding the construction process is key to building your dream home. Looking forward to learning how to get started and navigate each step effectively! 🏠
My question is How does it work if I already have a home and I want to knock it down and rebuild a new one? What happens with the mortgage I still owe on it?
Does signing with a home building company(eg: Ryan Homes, Drees), follow these same steps? Like do they take care of things like land prep, soil tests, permits, utilities etc? Or are those thing I need to take care of even after signing with a home builder?
I am planning on buying a home that my father in law owns, but it need repairs and I want to change the layout for the home. Do you have any companies in Tennessee you recommend?
Hey there! I have found that local banks usually have the best options for land loans and would suggest starting there. Even community credit unions can have some attractive programs to promote development in their local area 😊
Thanks, been meaning to do this since 2010, lol. Also, on a video related note, I was watching your videos when i saw you had just uploaded it. Thanks for all the videos, it really helped us see what our options are in the housing market in Florida.

Great ideas!! I will say, Kachi has made a LOT of content on these on his instagram. If you want to check it out his handle is @KachiDubisi ☺️
This is an incredibly sophisticated and detailed process. A checklist with all the steps on paper is something I would pay for!
We have one of those in the works! 😊
@@NicoleNark looking forward!!!

You can’t knock down your existing home and rebuild with a mortgage on it. The mortgage is tied to the home. However you can make major renovations.

Great question! They will handle nearly all of this!

Can you recommend a couple contractors to build a home on land I bought in Mena Arkansas?
What are the best loans for land?

Nice work Nicole! I see you've lost weight. Looking good my friend. Keep up the great content!
I thought they were going to show how the base is built in detail, thanks anyway
By base do you mean how the foundation was done?
Can I be the general contractor?
Yes most states allow owner-builders!
First
Congrats!🎉 🏆
