I can only imagine i would have done the same! I know Kentucky I got “leave well enough alone” and I was blown away.. this one would have been too much! 🤣👌🐐
Got the same chills when I heard it for the first time by Duffy and SS , Thanks Herb, Chris. Thanks to Billy who loves the past and is the future of new timeless tradition.
My favorite part about Billy is that he kicks ass, and while he’s doing that, he honors ALL of those who came before. Thank you young man. Damn this was awesome!
When Phish did Waiting All Night, I heard someone say to listen to it from the perspective of your dog sitting home waiting This song took that idea to another level for me anytime I have to pack up and go work far away Dogs❤
Thanks Bill for this. While Billy's introduction is cut here, it's sad that very few even had a clue as to Ben and his contribution to bluegrass. Alternatively, your Dickie Betts 'Ramblin Man' is already at 5K views. That's sad. This beauty is so poignant and one of the best things ever to land in our laps in bluegrass, though I understand honoring the memory of Dicky as well.
Realistically, the Allman Brothers Band will always be bigger than the Seldom Scene. Billy does the best job ever of promoting all the masters of Bluegrass. He does everything short of shouting "Go listen to Old Train, damnit!" Pretty awesome how Billy F. was true to Ben's style, Jarrod played John Duffy's mandolin break, and the band did a fair job of replicating the Scene's harmonies at the end, no?
Would be nice, but Billy already has a lot of mouths to feed in his band. The addition of the fiddle player was much more important to my way of thinking.
@@golfingfool777true but Alex and JW have seem to have balanced it out finally. Also I will never forget Billy said this is my band I will roll on with or without folks. Not in a bad way
Billy and the boys blessed St. Augustine this year with three incredible nights. Pure gold indeed.
Four straight years, hope it’s five
I was somewhere in the pit crying my eyes out during this. Truly beautiful❤️❤️ god bless Ben Eldridge and god bless Billy strings.

Me too ! I wish he would record it . ❤

True he does without even trying
This was even more emotional and beautiful in person.
Hell. Yes. I would have lost it all if I were in this audience. Tears a plenty
Same Here , sitting here doin it
right now .
I used to do sound for seldom scene back in the late 80’s early 90’s. Greatest bunch of guys! Ben will be missed.
Blue grass plus great singing
The Birchmere every Thursday evenings…..back in the 70’s.
I've been hoping Billy strings would play this for years now. Amazing ❤❤❤
Wow, that song is so beautiful. I always thought it would be cool to hear Billy sing/play it. Although the original Seldom Scene is hard to beat.
Man they did it justice
The Seldom Scene-- truly Legendary world 🎶 musicians ❤
This hit me in my soul when they did this song. 😭
Got to see Seldom play this live, they were amazing and this has always been my favorite tune of theirs, Billy has impeccable taste!
Hell yes 🙌
My favorite banjo player ever. Gunna miss Ben so much.
God bless you Billy! Was at a Seldom Scene show last night and another Eldridge tribute. Hope to hear you do this live soon.
Pure gold.

Ive been hoping to hear Billy cover this for a long time, reminds me of Fescue and simpler times. Thanks fellas that's great song!
So special. Thank you for the full version
Thanks for posting, brought back many memories of The Seldom Scene at The Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival
Keep in the rotation fellas
This Right Here son !
Excellent tribute
still think Duffy squeezed
up in this 🙏💙⚡
Especially in that live version with Lou Reid on lead vocals. The two of them were tenor monsters together.
This song is so fucking beautiful 😻
wish i could go on tour for the next 5 years
Me too. Gotta make it happen.
Year four, NEVER miss St Augustine
Fantastic!!!!
GD Beautiful... RIP John and El Dorado
Never fails
I will fucking admit it
I didn’t know this song and tune all that well .
I feel like an ass!
When Jerry died I felt so blessed that I had panic and now Billy came along. I am so grateful for this community
Good shit right there goddamn
Damn right
Good one!
This is the only video of this
It is about tehethgherness
💙🚦📻
Great job 👍👍
Billy the crooner!
RIP John Peck
He does great on this classic but w/out John Duffy and his fellow Seldom Scene band mates harmonizing vocals it falls short.
This also supports my theory
that they need a dobro player
🐐✨
I believe they will add one at some point

Alex is Amazing thats
for sure , maybe on a side project 🤔
i agree another mouth to feed does
cost
Only if the dobro player were Mike Auldridge.

That’s a nice lick on the bass!!
Royal is a stud, everyone in the band is top notch!
