    I am not racist at all, but am I the only one who actually thought song of the south was kind of a humble story? A grandfather like character teaching kids the important lessons of life through tails of characters getting into trouble and sorting their issues.

    No because I’ve been saying this EXACT thing. Why make a ride based off a movie without one of the last great Disney villains?? And also Ray

      I hold a little bit of hope that they’ll find some way of including him but if he is totally absent it would be one of the weirdest creative decisions Disney Imagineering have ever made. My choice would have been for the ride to just retell the original story like the classic Fantasyland dark rides do as it’s the last Disney movie to be released that I truly love.

    I am a bit skeptical about this retheme of a classical attraction. The original Splash mountain is an iconic attraction and Disney has to reach the quality of the original attraction. I hope that Disney doesn't make this retheme cheap to save costs.

      Totally agree. There’s lots of reasons why I’m sceptical and Splash Mountain was a great attraction so the bar for the new attraction is set very high. Fingers crossed Disney give the new ride the budget and attention it requires to ensure it doesn’t disappoint. Thanks for the comment 👍

    To be honest, I was a little on both sides when it was announced. I was sad to see a well popular mountain that felt more like it was a park ride rather than an IP ride. However, at the same time I was actually happy for Tiana to get her ride with all of her friends and villains in Princess and the Frog. Now that’s it’s opened at the Magic Kingdom it just doesn’t feel like it’s a Princess and the Frog ride. It feels like the Princess and the Frog ride is trying to be a cheap version of Splash Mountain. Worst of all, it seems like they may have attempted to actually make this link to a trackless ride system and then changed their mind to put it in a ride that’s always in motion. I’m not sure if I am going to be able to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland when it opens on November 15th, but being cheap never actually works in a successful Disney attraction and also a change that doesn’t affiliate the attractions also doesn’t work. Sure, it’s good to be creative and work a new story, but the people has to know exactly what they are working on so the guests can say, “Hey, it looks cool. We should go check it out.” Recently it just becomes a mixed bag their are stuff that are made that are good but there are stuff made that are bad. Either way, if both the series and ride are connected in a way I’m thinking it’s Disney’s way of saying it’s bad. I kind of feel like this is basically like replacing something popular with something that is mediocre. Usually, when something is replaced it has to be for something better like Guardians of the Galaxy, the many adventures of Whinnie the Pooh, avengers campus, monsters Inc, none of these are mediocre and actually better than it once was. To be honest, this ride might of worked a lot better if it was a book report ride than a sequel and spinoff ride (mostly because nowadays Disney can’t make a good story anymore because of woke DEI agenda forcing to write false diversity and inclusion instead of actual authentic diversity and inclusion).

      We haven’t had a chance to ride it yet ourselves and have managed to avoid spoilers quite well. But, what you’re saying does seem to line up with the views we’ve heard from many people. Many certainly seem disappointed with the quality of the attraction. I can’t speak to this yet myself, but if this is the case, it’s incredibly disappointing. I at least thought that with all the skepticism surrounding this change, Disney would have wanted to put a lot of effort into this re-theme and not cut any corners. It’s a shame that many don’t seem to think this is the case!
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@JustThemeParksYT Thanks for listening and your feedback. I haven’t rode it either but apparently, according to the people that rode it. They have no idea what’s going on and the people that do know what’s going on have a little better experience than people who are vibing it. Both scenarios seem pretty much a disappointment, but of course I do want to give my score when I actually do ride it. I hope I can at Disneyland when it opens, but if I can’t there is always next year. I’m pretty much a person that if I don’t experiece it, unless it’s a ride that happened in the past or couldn’t get to it at the time, I can’t have an honest opinion on it. So, with me I’m pretty much a watcher and if it’s good enough to be popular then it is good enough for me to test it out. Each person has their own way, so ride it with vibe or not both situations by the people that rode it are mediocre. Just letting people know that, otherwise people won’t know it isn’t popular as it was promised to be.

    The Splash Mountain at WDW should have been rethemed to one of Disney's western movies. Frontierland is Western themed and it makes absolute no sense to have a New Orleans ride in that area

    • @JustThemeParksYT
      @JustThemeParksYT  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, there’s no way they can truly make it work in Frontierland! It’s perfect for Disneyland but it just feels lazy to not do something different at Walt Disney World.

    It's actually not true that most people only knew brer rabbit and the other characters from the ride. Song of the south was periodically re released in theaters over years prior to the late 1980s. Zip a dee do dah was also a song heavily ingrained in US pop culture. Many of us younger kids grew up in the late 80s and early 90s also knew the songs and characters from various segments featured on television specials and disney sing along.

    • @JustThemeParksYT
      @JustThemeParksYT  Рік тому

      Fair point! But as time has gone on it's definitely true that younger generations were only familiar with the characters due to the ride. I certainly only ever knew of them from Splash Mountain! 😅Nevertheless, these facts definitely make the theming of Splash Mountain in 1989 make sense! It's interesting to compare this information to how quickly they shifted to completely trying to hide this film, making Splash Mountain's change seem inevitable for a while now! Thanks so much for watching!

    I have Song of the South on vhs. Grew up watching it, and never found it racist. If anything, this retheme is racist. Tiana's ride takes place in a salt mine... that's where slaves worked, and it was hell on earth for them. They're already on the wrong track with this new ride.

  • @Howlingburd19
    @Howlingburd19 Рік тому +2

    I’m positive about one thing, though… they changed Splash Mountain to this because of wokeness and laziness. If they didn’t then the ride would’ve stayed the same and they would’ve created a new Tiana ride lol

  • @KinkajouOneTwo
    @KinkajouOneTwo Рік тому +1

    i overall have faith that the retheme will be like be of equal quality to or perhaps better than splash mountain. at the end of the day at the very least it will still be the same ride; it will go up and then down and you'll get wet. i just really hope that they do include dr facilier in some way! hes far too much of an iconic of the movie for him to be completely absent.

    I don’t mind that they are getting rid of the song of the south theming, in all honesty they weren’t even sure about it then. I will miss the music tho, that was great. I think that basing it off the movie would have been better than it just a handful of movie characters and making it original. No Keith David and Jim Cummings is a tragedy.
    I also understand that Disney have made rides based on movies that don’t follow the story of the movie (Toy Story land, Mr toad, roger rabbit, Nemo’s submarines, kind of radiator springs racers) but at least they brought back characters who have died ie the toon patrol, but dr. Faciler and ray are two of the best, if the not the best, characters from the movie that aren’t Tiana so not having them confuses me as the big drop with friends on the other side and a dr. Faciler animatronic would be much better than the mama office version (without tree boat)

    • @JustThemeParksYT
