oh my gosh, I was expecting a young mans voice who talked like he was Jesus himself. This was a shocker. You're art is amazing! please for the love of god, keep it up. You inspire me so much as an artist!
Y E S! This is so helpful, Thank you! Fun fact! Dewclaws on wolves are a hybrid trait! Only "Canis lupus familaries" (Aka, dogs) should have this trait, and they can also have dewclaws on their backlegs.
Oooh I did not know that! I only know that after seeing a wolf-paw tutorial which simply stated that the backlegs shouldn't have any dewclaws I avoided adding them there. Most of my anatomy knowledge started out from knowing vaguely fragments of maybe-truths :'0 The rest is improvisation based on what aesthetically looks "right" (which then is based on visual memory)
First off, i'd like to say you have a really nice voice! :3 Very lovely ^^ And thank you so much for this video!! I struggle very much with the subject of anatomy and figure, and I believe this video cleared some of my doubts about it :) One thing that i'm still struggling with tho are proportions :/ I never quite gripped how you "measure" them and all that. Any tips on that subject would be greatly appreciated!! But other than that, this video was pretty well made and it helped me quite some :D Thanks again! And keep up the great work
Thank you!! And proportions for me have always been tricky to figure out, I personally have gotten better at it through pure repetition. It's always difficult to get it right when you can't pinpoint what exactly is wrong. And with sizes and distances it sometimes feels like the slightest change can impact the whole look of it. Sometimes that means 100 slight adjustments until you're satisfied, which will naturally require some stubborness x: I don't have much advice in that area, since I learnt it by "drawing, erasing, drawing" on repeat until it looked "right". And I still have to go through that from time to time D: Your proportions also depend on what "look" you want to achieve; cartoony, realistic, frightening, majestic... So it can be helpful to compare different artworks to realism to find some common threads of what they changed to get a certain feel. For me it's been something like: cartoony- bigger eyes, ears, less details, round shapes frightening- small eyes, close to realism but not quite there, maybe stringy and long limbs majestic- long curved neck, large bust, again small eyes Sometimes you also just gotta say "to hell with all this" and just roll with what you enjoy doing,, no matter if it's off or has "bad" proportions. I usually am in exactly that mindset, when I do my best-looking humanoid artwork ;3
Remarin Thank you a lot! Just one thing...would you do a tutorial about human anatomy too in the future? That's a thing that i struggle a lot with and you are really good at it :0
PS and GIMP have a handy measuring tool you can use! Get an image with no weird poses or angles (so that you can be accurate) and see how many pixels something takes in comparison to something else. That's if you're going for realism, that is. If you're stylising, I'd say stick to realism first then slowly add in what you think looks better and consider what kind of proportions you're going for in said style :)
I have a tip to help with anatomy!! Digitally: get a referance image and import it on whatever art app you use. Then use basic shapes, your base, tracing the ref. Keep reading! Dont worry its not tracing, im not done yet ^^ then move the base you just traced to the side and redraw it without tracing it. Then put it over the origunal image to see how close you were and what you need to fix. Then draw another time without tracing and see how closer you got know that you know what you should have fixed. Keep doing this and you will gradually get better at anatomy!!
Aahh ty I really needed this!! My wolf drawing skills are blehhhhhh. I'm pretty good at dragons though because they are my favorite thing to draw. Anndddd again ty!!!
Thank you SO MUCH! I've been trying to draw wolves like you do I absolutely adore your style, every aspect of it. You really are a huge inspiration to me and with this maybe I can improve somewhat
I need to learn this Because I have been copying people's art on purpose, I don't make animations only practices for animating. So thank you very much for helping us and me.
I've only recently started watching your channel and I'm sad I only just found it, your my favorite artistic youtuber! I really love your art and it really inspires me to want to improve my art skills as well 😄
Waw danku for this it is so helpful! U taught me a lot and also thanks for these tips. I know that u might not read all this but I just wanna say how u inspired me a lot since, before art would literally make me depressed cause I don’t have my own art style and feel like that I’m never improving. Your tips and knowledge that you shared is so fantastisch that I feel supported with how I draw. I have made a huge improvement with your help and I have actually found my art style. Danke u so, so much! To people who are reading this please don’t be put down by your art, since everybody starts somewhere. Don’t let your art make ur self esteem decrease since everything that you draw would be valued by somebody :3
Not gonna lie I’ve been inspired by your art style for about 2 years now. This was a huge help and I really needed something like this- thanks a ton! PS You should try doing a full body tutorial on dragons, I know that you did a bit of dragons on this one but I feel as if maybe a bit of lessons on the teeth, claws, how to make spikes, etc would help a lot of people out there (I know how to draw dragons quite well myself but not gonna lie I could use a bit of improvement 😂😅)
I just got a new beginner animation program, and was using your work for ideas! Thank you for all of your artwork and inspiration you've provided to us fellow artists and animators!
What I got from this: squares and circles ( This is just a joke for the sketch and I really love the way you draw and I’ve learned a lot from this and I’ve got quite good! )
Thank you so much. Before I do not know how to draw wolves, and painted them worse than a five year old child, but thanks to you now I have come out wonderful drawings of wolves and all asking me to teach them))))Thank you again))
This was an excellent and very encouraging tutorial. ^_^ I was wondering if maybe in a future video you could talk about paw pads. This video helped me with toes but didn't really touch up on what's under the foot. Overall, great video. Thank you for sharing your amazing artistic knowledge with us.
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH, THANK YOU THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN MISSING MY WHOLE LIFE- THANK YOU, YOU EXPLAINED IT SO CLEARLY OWO but i feel like im stealing your art style now....
This helped me ALOT I was following your sketches through and through I had trouble finding my own style for a while now.. And I think I'm finally forming something This helped me ALOT with anatomy that I've had trouble with for a while can't wait for another tutorial 😊
Oh my! So I was just gonna follow the tutorial thing but I drew my own. Cause it wasnt adding up. I didnt use a reference picture. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I love you for this
u r such a good artist. i draw just like you and it was a great help to get some more good tips! love you remarin!! u just earned a new sub and a new notifier! :)
Hey Rema could you go in-depth with the human anatomy next video? I’ve personally been struggling with that and would like to see your view or approach on it.
This helped ALOT! Btw if you are going to do another tutorial, could it be about how to draw humans? I really like the way you draw humans or humanoids:D Sorry for the bad grammar
Hi! Thank you for making this video! I love your style of drawing (and art in general) it's amazing! I normally struggle with drawing canines (or animals in general) and your tutorial was very helpful. One question though: is drawing the back mostly the same as drawing the front or does it have some differences?
Do you mean that as frontal view compared to view from behind? Or are you talking specifically about how I use the spine-edge/ draw the back in my simplified sketching, instead of the front edge as main sketch-line-thing? If that's what you mean, then: I prefer to draw the back because it gives you a better sense of how the body can bend and twist, and it indicates more clearly where the neck and tail comes out of the main body. But that's of course simply what I've grown used to,, there are many different ways to simplify a body and finding something that fits your way of drawing is the main objective!
Remarin I see, I guess I meant the back in general since (I'm not sure why) the back side has always given me trouble when it comes to drawing it. Whether it's human or animal or anthropomorphic it's always hard for me 😅. But I think I get what you're saying ☺
Oh I see! When drawing details to front/bottom and back, I usually picture the bottom (for 4-legged animals) to be wide and round (ribcage) that becomes less wide at the top (spine) and is either more flat or tube-like running along the spine (ribcage and spine nearly as 2 separate forms). The stomach area is either just as wide as the ribcage (make the oval longer) and get tapered inward towards the hindlegs, or the stomach is barely noticeable and it's simply another tube beneath the spine-tube sta.sh/014bzgitufda
Remarin Oh thank you think this'll help a lot and I guess I can also practice by tracing the muscled on pictures like you did on the video with the picture of the dog :) Thank a bunch again! (Sorry for the late reply...)
Hey Remarin, I really really really want to paint digital like you, but I don't have any idea what kind of program ore computer I must have. Can you please give me advice??? P.s I love your work! I've learned many things from your speedpaints and it's so inspiring!
There is a lot of variation you can choose from, and it isn't necessary to get the most expensive products in order to make good art! There are free art programs like "Medibang", and "Krita" that are decent enough, so if you're not sure yet wether you want to invest much money into an art program, you can test things out with the free ones and decide later. But the main programs you'll hear being used most commonly are: Photoshop and/or Paint Tool Sai. Photoshop can be used by any computer I think, so it doesn't matter which you get. But Paint Tool Sai is only usable on Windows last time I checked (don't know, I've only ever had Mac/Apple computers so you'll need to do some research on that) With photoshop, it's a bit tricky, since the newest versions are all only buyable via subscription = you'll need to pay for however long you plan using it. I'm using an old version: Photoshop elements.10, and I think you can still buy the last "Elements" update via normal 1-time payment. There are other programs too, like "Corel Painter" or "Pixelmator". But one main thing you'll need to do digital art is a drawing tablet! AKA graphic tablet. You can search for "wacom" and or "intuos" to find the most commonly used ones. There is lot of variation to choose from, and again, you don't need the most expensive ones to make good art. I myself once found a second-hand tablet for 40€, and the one I use right now is a "Wacom Bamboo Fun" which was also second-hand, for 90€. You can probably find also a lot of review videos, comparing different kinds of tablets, so I recommend simply checking some of those videos out. Same for art programs :>
Do you have one of those drawing pads with a stylus that link to a computer or do you just straight up draw on it? If you draw on the computer, that is EXTREMELY impressive.
Question if you draw an wolf like an nice real wolf and you put an haircut on it is it an furry and if you draw an normal tiger is it also an furry? People at my school say that it is.
Can you please make a video like this about the anatomie of humans, because this is a super usefull video and I am so bad about making humans in different positions (I've screwed up mostly everything when I draw then😂😂😂) but by the way, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND ART SO MUCH😍😍😍😍, IT LOOKS SO MUCH ON MY STYLE, (but your better) KEEP GOING!!!!!
Remarin noo sorry if i explain bad xD i would say, in the video do you draw without speaking and after you speak and you add the sound or do you draw and record the sound in the same time? .. it's not a important question but i am curious to know ^^
Aahh I see! I recorded sound and drawing at the same time! I first started recording audio with one program (Audacity) and hit record on my screen visual right afterwards with a different program (Quick time player), but in the end I still talked while simultaneously drawing. I'll try out different ways to do these kinds of videos in the future though! I'm not yet sure what I'll be most comfortable with :>
Remarin oww ok ! thank you to have explained me. it's cool if you will do other videos like this. i find you are a good teacher :) ( perso i think its more ez to have a script to talk. maybe it can help u to do a plan & organize ur ideas? )
Hey! I really love your art style, its so realistic and beautiful but im having trouble finding an art style. If you have any tips I'd greatly appreciate it ^-^
Keep a collection of art that you like! The trick is: to collect from as many artists as possible. I often check out other artist's favorite folders to find new stuff. www.deviantart.com/remarin/favourites/ rema-rin.tumblr.com/tagged/art-style I myself have a couple of different styles, and they could be placed on a slider that goes from "cartoony -> semi realism". People often say "you gotta learn the rules before you break them", and it is true to a certain degree,, if you learn anatomy, color theory, etcetc you can much more easily play around with things like art style, experimentation and so on. The closer you get to realism, the less individual/unique the art will look, so I advise to simply regularly play around, draw whatever you enjoy drawing. The things you enjoy about art can become the defining aspects of your art style. here are also some videos related to the topic of style or that might be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/vM39qhXle4g/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/LeA4EB-FFIc/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/3FSFbTx17j8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/v2Ok0Wx1bCE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/uEgCsWyOyCo/v-deo.html
Remarin omg thank you for the reply! This just motivates me to keep going! ;w; You and few other artist are one of my biggest inspirations and I hope you continue doing what your doing ^O^
AAAH THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL IT REALLY HELPED ME !!!!!! ICH LIEBE DICH !!!!! THIS HELPED ME WITH HARD POSES AND WITH THE SHAPE OF THE WOLFS HEAD!!!!
could you show us exactly how you learned over the years? or is it like this? i know you had a lot of practice but did you just watch a lot of speedpaints or use a lot of references?
you helped me so much. i thank u. i subbed and liked ur vid. it is fantastic!!! can u pls do a video on how to draw two animated cats fighting. love your videos. also, this is the first video i watched from u. can't wait what your youtube channel is about
This was extremely helpful! Though, I'd recommend just writing out a full script instead of bullet points as the video would go by much smoother and would probably be a little clearer~ I use to be against scripts before I used one and my videos completely changed!
I did a script for the previous Q&A video, though for this one I didn't really know how to plan a script paired with drawing out the things I'm talking about x: Maybe it's simpler than what I make it out to be,, but I'm still trying stuff out
Yeah, experimenting is a good idea! I think a way to pair them together is to have it in a speedpaint type fashion with your voice in the background and show key frames of what you're talking about along the way. Ex: "Wolves don't have pointy ears, rather, they have more curved ears." and you would put either a picture or an actual drawing of yours on the screen~ Though, I think just editing out the pauses and "um"'s would work just as well~
oh my gosh, I was expecting a young mans voice who talked like he was Jesus himself.
This was a shocker. You're art is amazing! please for the love of god, keep it up. You inspire me so much as an artist!
Wat?😂😂
Tbh same 😂😂

So close.
I realize I am pretty off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released series online ?
That’s really intriguing because a dewclaw in nature could help a wolf but only dogs have it!
Wow that's cool, I kinda thought all canines had them but I guess not
Every picture of a wolf I can find has a dew claw on it, so either they’re all hybrids or that’s not an actual fact...
This simply isn't true.
waagh, you made a teeth tutorial too? blessed remarin, you are an endless gift.
yes ❤❤

Creepy Wolf :0 Hi Crepe!
I just got a new beginner animation program, and was using your work for ideas! Thank you for all of your artwork and inspiration you've provided to us fellow artists and animators!
Even tho you sound nervous this was really nice I love the way you draw so it was really cool when I found this! Thank you for doing this

I thought you would sound a lot older! It’s amazing how such a young person can draw like a master!
This was an excellent and very encouraging tutorial. ^_^ I was wondering if maybe in a future video you could talk about paw pads. This video helped me with toes but didn't really touch up on what's under the foot. Overall, great video. Thank you for sharing your amazing artistic knowledge with us.
Your accent is SO AMAZING!! Thanks for the tutorial, i really wanted to learn how you did it! Also, your art is fantastic!!
I’m drawing dragons half of the time so I decided to look into wolves and this was very helpful!

I had trouble finding my own style for a while now.. And I think I'm finally forming something
This helped me ALOT with anatomy that I've had trouble with for a while can't wait for another tutorial 😊
Ayayeeeet, thank you for this, Remarin! It was very helpful! I love wolves, since they're kinda all that I draw. o/
Ty! I’m working on drawing different animals, first is wolves and dogs!
Two things
Positive things
Your voice is awesome
And thx for the vid, I needed this. I'm not very good at animals, so this is a good start.
Oh my! So I was just gonna follow the tutorial thing but I drew my own. Cause it wasnt adding up. I didnt use a reference picture. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I love you for this
Yay THANKS! Now I understand everything about this technique, my drawings are now much better.
Thanks 😀
u r such a good artist. i draw just like you and it was a great help to get some more good tips! love you remarin!! u just earned a new sub and a new notifier! :)

I try to draw with u and I'm very very very much better then now :3
Tysm, new sub!
I really think you should do an anatomy series for wolves and humans
Hey Remarin, I really really really want to paint digital like you, but I don't have any idea what kind of program ore computer I must have. Can you please give me advice???

Do you have one of those drawing pads with a stylus that link to a computer or do you just straight up draw on it? If you draw on the computer, that is EXTREMELY impressive.
your english is really good for being german
first this is amazing! and second are u french???
Super helpful, thanks so much!

Can you please make a video like this about the anatomie of humans, because this is a super usefull video and I am so bad about making humans in different positions (I've screwed up mostly everything when I draw then😂😂😂) but by the way, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND ART SO MUCH😍😍😍😍, IT LOOKS SO MUCH ON MY STYLE, (but your better)
KEEP GOING!!!!!
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL TY VERY MUCH ! :O
awesome tutorial, thank you!
Do you have a deviant art account?? I would love to see more of your digital arts!
www.deviantart.com/remarin/gallery/ have had one since 2011, in that Gallery is all of the art I've made since then :>
I totally want to see more tutorials
it's really nice to u to do a tutorial !
i have a question: do u speak in a same that do you draw ?
How do you mean that? Are you asking about my native language? :0
Remarin noo sorry if i explain bad xD
i would say, in the video do you draw without speaking and after you speak and you add the sound or do you draw and record the sound in the same time?
.. it's not a important question but i am curious to know ^^
Aahh I see! I recorded sound and drawing at the same time! I first started recording audio with one program (Audacity) and hit record on my screen visual right afterwards with a different program (Quick time player), but in the end I still talked while simultaneously drawing.
I'll try out different ways to do these kinds of videos in the future though! I'm not yet sure what I'll be most comfortable with :>
Remarin oww ok ! thank you to have explained me.
it's cool if you will do other videos like this. i find you are a good teacher :)
( perso i think its more ez to have a script to talk. maybe it can help u to do a plan & organize ur ideas? )

I myself have a couple of different styles, and they could be placed on a slider that goes from "cartoony -> semi realism".
The things you enjoy about art can become the defining aspects of your art style.
here are also some videos related to the topic of style or that might be helpful:

can u pls do a video on how to draw two animated cats fighting. love your videos. also, this is the first video i watched from u. can't wait what your youtube channel is about
This was extremely helpful! Though, I'd recommend just writing out a full script instead of bullet points as the video would go by much smoother and would probably be a little clearer~
I use to be against scripts before I used one and my videos completely changed!
Ex: "Wolves don't have pointy ears, rather, they have more curved ears." and you would put either a picture or an actual drawing of yours on the screen~
Though, I think just editing out the pauses and "um"'s would work just as well~
What app are you using to draw?
