About the age, remember this anime is coming from Japan as well a lot of cultures shock as well.
I stopped the video at minute 2 because maybe i will forgive later... I did remembered the age, and maybe someone more did the same because you were saying like if Bulma and Yamcha said they were 18... im just wanted to remark that they are not adults... nothing more than remarks that... im perfectly OK with teenagers being perverts, and even the Master Roshi being perverts because its the human nature... (I hope you didn't meant me :( ).
Edit: I ended the video now, about the Moon, its because there is an mitology or a oriental tale that says that the rabbits are from the moon, so, in that context, Goku just let the "rabbits" in the place they should be.

FYI there are more episodes of Dragon Ball than you realize. Dragon Ball Z is actually Dragon Ball, but it was renamed to Dragon Ball Z for the anime. It's all adapted from the manga just called "Dragon Ball". So technically >400 episodes.

The Pokémon comparison really isn't that far off. Especially because Pilaf, Shu and Mai were basically Team Rocket before there was a Team Rocket.

This episode has a cultural origin. Western people tend so see a human face on the full moon, while japanese see a rabbit (to be fair, when you find it, you can't unsee it). This episode is like a tale explanation for this rabbits existence...
Well it's also tapping the tradition to pound rice into Mochi on new years, something that the rabbit on the moon is also said to be doing.

@@dark-xh7fsNope not a plot hole, according to the Dragonball Adventure Special magazine from 1987, Toriyama said the reason he didn't transform because it was a half-moon and even up close, a half-moon is still a half-moon.
Don't stress the people that scream its inappropriate or whatever. They are way to soft and will try to scream its bad and I'm sry I grew up on all this and it didn't negative effect me. Watch what u wanna watch and enjoy whatever u like. Have a good time with dragon ball and dragon ball z

I get why some people dont want to watch it but at the ame time its just a story written by someone like i think almost everyone at this moment is 16 or above except goku and chi chi and if you rlly get mad about whats goku been doing then you dont get a joke😂
This anime has some pervy stuff/jokes, whoever doesn't like it can simply not watch, i personally find them funny af. It's an older anime, not made for today's generation that need safe spaces and can't separate fiction from reality.

@@Skrulzie back in the day i used to not put " in my opinion " in my comments and many people instead of understanding that it was just my opinion they thought i was stating a objective fact . like if i said " Oyabun is a funny character " and some people would reply to my comment and say " no . he is not " . when i started putting " in my opinion " those people vanished of my replies . which is good . if i say that " Oyabun is a funny character " i am just saying that my opinion about this fictional character is that he is funny . it is a subjective matter once Dragon Ball is a work of art and a work of art will hit any single people in a different way and we will all have a opinion about it and we are all correct in the end of the day . it is different of objective matter . like " 2 + 2 = 4 " . that is a objective matter . does not matter of some people have a different opinion about " 2 + 2 = 4 " . In the West, I've heard that the moon pattern is supposed to be a woman's profile. In Japan, the moon pattern is supposed to be a rabbit.
In Japan, there is a fairytale about a rabbit on the moon making holiday treats for all of the children

I enjoy your reactions of the original Dragon Ball. People just have a hard time learning that japanese anime always has some nudity in it. Nothing wrong with that, they just have a different culture, a good one from my pov
Just so you know, the reason they've collected the Dragon Balls this quickly is because originally the series was just going to be this one first saga and that was it. It was going to end at the end of this first adventure and that would've been the entire series. It's only cause Toriyama's first editor urged him to that he continued beyond this first saga.
"How is it that they never see that Yamcha is two seconds behind them?" Cause it's working on cartoon logic XD "How have you seen the rabbit before?" Cause's he's Yamcha ^_^ one of the things he is terrific at is knowing stuff. He's got knowledge on various characters and techniques that are legendary or have a reputation.

For the "moon" bit at the end, that's working off of Asian Mythology of Rabbits on the moon and making treats and stuff.
It's silly and over the top at times, but it also reflects Japanese culture, so I don't feel people should be demanding that it conform their modern Western standard. Not to mention, I could name several recent anime that go far, far, FAR beyond anything you will ever see in Dragonball/Dragonball Z/Dragonball Super. This is a kids show.
Akira Toriyama sense of humor is weird but we love it.
Boss Rabbit's 'Deadly Art of Carrot-Fu' is a fun take on the martial arts power of the 'death touch', whereas a dark martial arts master might kill through just a touch. Either a supernatural ability via 'poisoning' the victim's chi, I've seen in various media such as comics or in the TV series "Kung Fu - The Legend Continues"; or through some special technique such as the ending of the movie series "Kill Bill".
I’ve seen some of these episodes while growing up but I know I missed a lot but I’m happily enjoying going through the show with these videos it’s been fun it’s edited very good 👍

But it is not our earth. The life expectancy/aging of humans (or those who look like humans) is different. the culture is different....

Ages for some of the characters are speculated by a couple years but either way, legal age of concent in Japan used to be 13 since a year ago which it is now 16. Either way, it's the culture of the area and was okay and people should respect that and the fact that Japan is making positive changes to it as well. They have also changed adulthood from 20 to 18 since a year ago and there is also no Romeo and Juliet laws as well.
I haven't seen OG Dragonball in so long I had forgotten how silly and fun these early episodes were.
Bulma is always updating her look in this show! I cant think of another mangaka before Toriyama doing all that. Dragon Ball really birthed modern anime.
Nami from One Piece was modeled after Bulma since she changes outfits too especially pre timeskip

It's maybe my favorite Bulma outfit. It also seems appropriate that Bulma looks like a 'genie' in that she revealed to many characters the dragon balls' secret of gaining a wish.

Someone who knows Journey to the West, did Son Wukong ever do anything like this or is it based on another myth?
Yeah, Sun Wukong does fight a white rabbit that was a thief and sends him to the moon to make an elixir for longevity/immortality.
There are other stories from Japan (Journey to the West is Chinese) and even from the Aztecs. Those stories are more positive though. The rabbit ends up on the moon so it can be remembered forever because it was kind and generous.

This is one of my favorite episodes😆 TONINJINKA, Tony.gen.ka also known as monster carrot or the boss rabbit 🐇 is one of my favorite characters because he has an interesting power. Turning people into carrots just by making physical contact with him is terrifying, toninjika is monster carrot Japanese name that translates to “rabbit who is wielding the power to turn people into carrots” as you can tell I love Japanese culture 😊 there is a Japanese folktale about a rabbit on the moon, it’s kinda a long story so I won’t go into details, but goku sending Toninjinka to the moon is so much more hilarious when you’re aware of the Japanese folktale 😂goku is such a comedian for that, I really like humor when it ties around children stories. It’s sweet, pure, innocent, and funny. Just like goku’s character 😇

This will likely get some hate. To be fair Dragon Ball was created in Japan. Their age of consent is a lot younger than 99% of the world. That and the time it was released not many people seen anything wrong.

Yeah, this isn’t One Piece where it takes more than a thousand episodes to reach the main goal. In this, the goal of retrieving the dragon balls is achieved pretty much every other arc. Because it isn’t really about the searching for the dragon balls, it’s about the fights. The dragon balls are essentially just a plot device to _cause_ fights.

It's a gag martial arts series. Every time anything happens that certain people would find inappropriate and get so unnecessarily bothered by it is done in the vein of comedy. They just need to lighten up and stop taking things so seriously, like they're saving the world or something.
On another note, I really can't stand Oolong's voice. He is actually meant to be a 9-year-old child and has a youthful (childlike) voice in the original Japanese dub, but for whatever reason they gave him an adult voice for the English dub and even suggest that he is one (which made the kidnapping girls at the beginning weirder). And Puar, the same age, is a boy, but in the English dub is randomly referred to as a girl.

hey Suzy, I've been a big DB and DBZ fan for many years. i don't wish to spoil anything but later on in the show, Bulma is surprised to learn that Goku is so young and that she thought he was closer to her age. PS. after this i would suggest DBZA by Team four star.
as for age of concent... in japan at the time this show was written the legal age of concent was 13, but has currently been changed to 16 soo by cultural standards bulmas age isnt even an issue regardless.... people need to relax and understand that different parts of the world at different times of history often are very different from current modern "western" norms.... and take it as what it is... a piece of the past from a different culture.... relax and just enjoy it as what it was

One thing to consider and possibly even mention in your next video, Dragonball is an anime. Anime comes from Japanese manga… from Japan! Japanese men are typically the writers of these mangas. It’s a different culture as well as a different time and these things were more acceptable for the Japanese. All anime comes from Japan manga (comics). If people don’t like what is in the anime, then don’t watch it.

The age of the characters is of no concern, as you state the show is from the 80's and this is comical relief - in RANMA ½ there is also an old perverted man for the exact same reason. This perverted comedy is not really present after Dragon Ball, as Dragon Ball Z doesn't have a lot of comedy. It's more about fighting there, similar to in Naruto.
As for the age of the characters in relation to use, the viewers - well I thought Bulma was hot when I read Dragon Ball as a 12-year-old kid. She is 16 I believe but I could misremember.
Now, does this mean I can't comment on her just because I've aged and is now 34? While she is still 16.
That's like telling someone who watched Pokémon that they can't comment on Ash Ketchum because he's 10-years-old, even though the person commenting might have been that very age when he/she started to watch Pokémon in 19999. Humans age, anime characers don't. The real age of the character would be 35 now in the case of Ash, and as for Bulma probably 60?
I appriciate you addressing the age thing. I know I pointed at least once, but that was in response to they are adults when they are teens :D is this show inappopriate by modern standards absolutely it is still funny, but it is not fair to compare it is literally from a different century :D

Idk if you’ll see this, but when you get to dbz please watch the Kai version. It is better voice acting, removes filler, and fixes drawn out scenes.
You can enjoy the show but acknowledge the truth of the events that took place ...................messages, but not all of it is as bad as we are lead to think
