Catapult Feud is a modern good alternative with good options for building. Also, if you're looking to scratch a nostalgic itch, check out the games that Restoration Games makes. They redesign old games with the goal of making them play as good as you remember... Because sometimes you go back and play an old game and realize it's 90% nostalgia.
My brothers and I never had Crossbows and Catapults, but we had multiple sets of Weapons and Warriors. I also had the GI Joe Cobra Battle Game which was fantastic, especially when you added additional rubber bands to the missile launchers so you could play from opposite sides of the house.
Lon I had both games. Loved it in the 80’s. I had several of the add on’s including the dragon and the battering ram. I have the new one as well I am a little disappointed with the crossbow as you were but I am ok with it. This was a kickstarter from Restoration Games and they also have a builders bounty that had much more blocks and picks. They also have the weapons cache that has a better crossbow and a trebuchet and more picks. Restoration Games has also done Return to Dark Tower which is by far the best remastered game I have played. It is a remake of the 80’s Dark Tower that I also had and loved!
There are Hot Wheels car launchers sold at Dollar Tree that are VERY similar in function of the original Crossbows and Catapults. I loved the original game. Thanks to linoleum over concrete in our basement back then.
It looks different than I remember it. I remember each side having trigger points on the castle where if you hit it it would fire a spring-loaded guy into the air
Wow. I don't even remember this game. Too bad. It looks fun. Would have loved to have played it but substituted GI Joe or Star Wars action figures for the ones that came in the box.
Still looks like a fun game, but kids will never know how much better that game actually was. I had the whole set, but never managed to pickup the Minotaur and Cyclops.
Never owned or played this. My version of this nostalgia game is Dark Tower from 1981. Or the Star Wars: Escape from the Death Star board game from 1977.
Nooo! The rubber bands were better. You could stretch the bands to everything double strength. And what happened to the castles with the built in catapult and jump plate that activated when you hit the door with puck? Not for me.
with enough rubber bands you can break a lamp clear across the living room, don't ask me how I know
The game got a lot more fun when we figured out the multiple rubber bands trick :)
I managed to break the catapult
My first WMD

My brother and I played that game to death, literally, back in the 80's as kids. So much fun! I think we broke or lost just about every part.
same here 😂
My brothers and i played this all the time back in the day. Awesome game!
Something like this as a supplemental addition to a DnD game would go hard. Great video!
my favorite game as a grown up kid...in greece it was called "castles and siegemen" (kastra kai poliorkites)....thanks for the video!!!!
"my parents bought that for me, in full disclosure."
Haha. Love this guy.

I don’t remember the original game that much. But my older brother and I were really into Transformers then.
Remakes like these are a reason modern children will think the 80s toys were lame

Crappy crossbows? 3D Printer to the rescue! 😊

Have my original set with all of the original pieces. I've played a few games with both of my sons this year. I like the new catapult.
Lon! , Thanks for posting this video
If this was in the 1980s, I don't remember it because I was too busy building PCs for IBM. We did actually manufacture computers in the USA.
Good for you
@@alechemy It was, yes. The late 80s I worked at Redstone/Marshall.
Loved that game in the 80's, I remember my Grandfather cheated and doubled over the elastic bands and smashed down my walls with ease. ;)
The reboot looks good.
How do you win? The eighties version had the card the castle sat on and you won by landing a puck on the treasure.
Nostalgia bomb 💣 😢.
❤❤❤
Wait! Was this game also a Spin off from “Weapons and Warriors”?!
I know Board James of Angry Nintendo Nerd Fame did a funny review of it years ago!
@@danielramsey6141 no lol “weapons and warriors” was a spinoff of this….
I had parts of this floating around, no idea what ther were from. Thats a 30 year old mystery solved.

they did the tweezer thing because of possible kids injuries, lol
3d printer will come in handy
3D printer remake the crossbow
oh that crossbow is so disappointing
