I'd like to add gardening. Surprisingly there is lots in Paris of obvious or oblique interest to people like me into gardening. I hadn't expected that! And not just the Jardins du Luxembourg + Jardin des Plantes + the plants market on Ile de la Cite.

@@janebaker966 That would make a very interesting video too.
Other things that I've found stunning in Paris are around the Jardin de Plantes.
Grande Galerie de l'evolution for example is visually stunning.
Galerie de Paléontologie et d'Anatomie comparée is a feast of animal bones. Again you might think what the heck, but google it.
Plus you have Marce Monge near by for lunch, take it away , sit in the park and eat.

US citizen here, living in Abu Dhabi and stopping in Paris for 5 days in January just prior to heading home for a long late holidays visit with family. I'm loving your videos and using them to help me plan for my time there. I really loved how you placed the name of the attraction (in this case a street), the metro stop, and a background of a map all in one frame allowing me to just snap one photo per location. Great work, please keep doing that! I look forward to more videos, best wishes.

I don’t see my husband and I traveling to France in our lifetime (even though we’d love it) but I watch your videos and pay attention as if I’m leaving for vacation next week. 😂 I LOVE your channel. I'm sure you'll come to Paris one day! Also the longer you wait, the better it will be. Paris experiences a lot of construction work because of the Olympics and the Great Paris project. Many landmarks are being restored (Notre-Dame, Eiffel tower, Grand Palais...) and the transportation system is a bit congested because of modernization. Give it at least 1 to 3 years for everything to be in shape and we'll be more than happy to welcome you in a city better than ever.

Happy 🎉 update!!! The paintings arrived yesterday. I worked with our local FedEx agent to locate the package and help me prepare the customs paperwork. It took some time because all I had was the tracking receipt and the package wasn’t initially accepted by the local customs authority. However, after a couple of weeks in clearance delays and operational issues, it seemingly shipped from CDG to the US overnight. My family now has a great story to tell whenever visitors comment on the paintings now in our living room. Please, please do a video about shipping or sending things outside of the European Union. I even kept forgetting to look for the post office and ended not sending a few post cards home 😂. Another thing we learned was to stay in the college neighborhoods and cities. Many of the students spoke better English than I could French. I still tried to keep up with French 😅when I could though. And yes, we met many rugby fans throughout during our stay. Fun crowd! Keep up the great work!! We plan on coming back to France again and find your advice invaluable.

Shopping at supermarkets is a top tip, often being able to purchase small gifts for the fraction of what you would pay at airport shops or city centre shops. Carrefour Market supermarkets have plenty of French biscuits and chocolates etc.
It's the same elsewhere, Delhaize supermarkets in Belgium is another example, lots of Belgian produce, for instance. D

I recently found your channel and have been binge watching ever since. I lived and worked in Germany for over 30 years. Was a flight attendant for Lufthansa. Paris was my favorite city and I am enjoying watching you both share it with all of us. Paris is magical and there is a small, touristy, restaurant in back of Notre Dam on the Isle St. Louis. The exact name translated is 'As the old Galliers'. A basket of raw veggies on the table and delish ratatouille to your choice of protein. I visited there with my daughter just before we left Europe for Texas. Thank you for bringing back beautiful memories.

But why couldn't you show as well the luxury places of Paris since they are typical too, even from the street without getting inside : just a presentation of the Palaces (the parisian category of great hôtels where only the Ritz strangely lacks) and of the few really luxury streets, like avenue Montaigne, rue Saint Honoré or place vendôme or even residential streets for rich people in the same 8th ardt like Parc Monceau or place François Ier, in the 16th ardt, like villa Montmorency (private only I think), avenue Foch or the boulevards George Mandel and Henri Martin or in Neuilly with the boulevards du Château and de la Saussaye? The Champs Elysées are for tourists and have not much luxury shops (Vuitton, Guerlain for ex.) and its boutiques are strangely often... in works (17 right now!), so the task could be difficult there, but this avenue can't be forgotten. In fact, Paris is not always sunny and pleasant like in your videos. When it's rainy and cold it's sad and less attractive.

Thank you so much for this video! We are staying in Le Marais during our trip in May. I love the map, metro stop, and specific street names and areas in your videos. Your information is so practical and helpful. I am going to have my children watch your video about ordering at a French restaurant. The concept that the French don't allow substitutions is very foreign to them. Have you ever thought about doing a video on French Brands that can only be found in France? For example, regional cosmetics, kitchenware, perfume, clothing, etc? We discovered the Lourmarin brand of sunblock, lotions, etc, when we were in Provence. It would be wonderful to find something like that in Paris. Thank you again!

I was wondering how hard it would be to get prescriptions filled...Do u have to have a prescription from your own doctor in the US, or do u have to see a doctor there and bring a local prescription ..im diebetic and cant carry a lot of insulin for a long trip unless it stays cold. Or what if they loose my lugage with my meds, would i be able to fill them there. Also, when shopping is there a limit as to what, or how much u can buy and bring back to the US?

Hi, Colleen and Antoine! What a nice info! I'll be staying in a hotel near La Motte-Picquet Grenelle Station and I'm very happy you guys gimme some inspirations on where to shop in the neighborhood :D
Anyway, I want to ask for your recommendation, so I'm gonna take a train from Amsterdam, arrive at Gare du Nord, and I've already booked a hotel near La Motte-Picquet Grenelle Station. What would you recommend, taking a metro or a taxi to reach the hotel? I'm kinda worried that my big luggage will piss people off in Metro (?) or that's normal? lol.
    Merci :)

    • @hubertinepankhurst1161
      @hubertinepankhurst1161 Рік тому +2

The taxi range at Gare du Nord can be a little dodgy, I would avoid it as the metro entrance is right in front of train arrivals, easy to find. I would recommend buying your metro ticket in the train (you can do it on the Eurostar and some international train lines) so that you don't have to fiddle with your pocketbook/credit card in the train station (it is a dodgy train station and you want to leave it quickly, especially if you are alone). The safest and easiest way is take line 4 from Gare du Nord to Raspail station and at Raspail take line number 6 until you reach La Motte Piquet. It is much safer to change at Raspail than Strasbourg St Denis which is always crowded and full of pickpockets and the like. Hope you have a nice trip, La Motte Piquet is nice area.

I had to laugh when I saw the blue Citroen 2CV at 0:31. We booked a tour in the exact same car, license #DC 531 WX, a year ago. Unfortunately it broke down in a spectacular fashion moments after we pulled away from the curb. My wife was terrified by the experience. I was more sanguine, having owned and driven many antique cars over the years. Things happen. So much for our tour of Paris in a 2CV! Maybe next time (though I'd wager my wife will pass on it).

    - boulevard de la bastille, a nice market an lot of bikers' shop.
    - rue de Belleville, cheap and real chineese things.
    - Barbès, sérioulsy typical.
