That is one big lobster!!! The shell is even beautiful coloring before it is cooked, and all that butter made me drool. Very interesting cultural video! Thanks!
Umh, not to ruin it for you, tropical lobsters as this grow faster as they live in warm water causing the meat to be less sweet compared to boston or maine lobster that are predominantly live in the cold water. Another key note also, their claws are thin like sticks vs boston or maine lobster where the claws are my favorite part. I would say however the cooking and the spices in Thai or Asian cuisine def makes up for the less savory lobster meat. As far as taste, as subjective that gets, your lobsters here in North America is what you want. Also, p.s. I'm from the tropics and grew up having the tropical lobsters.
if it was 2600 in baht, thats like 84 dollars i want lobster. or crab legs. or calamari. damn you travel thirsty. i cant get enough of these videos. its 3 am

Lance Link it is actually common in southeast Asia to use banana leaves when grilling fish/seafoods. The smell of burnt banana leaves complements the taste.
She is not, stupid tourists get ripped off very often in thailand, that lobster should not cost more than $17 in Thailand, Stupid tourists don't like haggling prices because it's "uncomfortable" for them because it's not common in their culture, so they pay like morons, a person's weekly income in Thailand, for a freaking lobster... Imagine someone came to you, and paid you your weekly income for a lobster... would you think he is retarded? that is how retarded tourists who pay the full price look like to the locals.
I'm thai. and I would say lobster in thai is expensive . You cannot buy that for 17 usd. but you can find prawn and shrimp 10 usd. / kg. But not for Lobster for sure.
@@vasuwatlungrojanee4852 exactly I don't know why people always try to lie about it. lobsterds and crabs are not cheap in thailand and prices are rising every year also for locals
Asia has so much better seafood choices. The waters in Southeast Asia as well as East Asia and other regions have such incredible marine life. And different cultures prepare them so well.

Yes, this "NO CLAM" lobster is also found in Caribbean Sea, Austraila, South Africa and Asia. It is very expensive in Hong Kong. It costs US$40/pound. The Canadian/American lobster is much cheaper (US$10 for one lobster) in Hong Kong. However, its taste is much worse than "NO CLAM" lobster.

Why did u burn it?
The delpolyment of a banana leaf in the cooking shows great thinking.
Agreed. I was wondering if all of that butter would flame up and ruin the flavor by adding soot to the lobster meat. The banana leaf was perfect.
