rty ♪♫ really? It has a huge roster that more than 2/3rds of is viable, edgeguarding isn't free and easy like Melee, and the game is heavily steeped in neutral. Not sure when it became cool to pick a side instead of enjoying both.

You're right. Your shitty ledge mechanics don't even ALLOW edge guards in your shit game. Also, edge guards aren't free in Melee at all. Many pros can drop edge guards due to creative recoveries, something yet again your brain dead game doesn't have.
Oh wow, more viable characters? The viable characters you're talking about that only need to win neutral? You know why your game has a lot more viable characters kid? Because your game is shallow. All you need to do is win neutral, and most your half ass characters can do it. Even ANTi himself said counter picking is going to become the meta game.

rty ♪♫ LOL. I don't even know where to start. Why are you throwing a temper tantrum? It's the internet, don't get so worked up. Also, you keep saying YOUR game...why? I play Melee too. And who are you calling kid? I'm in my 30s and have been playing Melee competitively since it came out...so I'm not quite sure what you think your talking about. Just because I don't follow the reddit fanboys and preach Melee elitism doesn't mean I don't still love Melee. I just also enjoy Smash 4.
It's a good game, and it is really solid. So what if the metagame is going to rely on counterpicking? That's good and healthy...that means that it won't fall into the one issue most people have with Melee: endless Fox dittos. Also, what I meant by free edgeguarding is that in Melee edgehogging allows for really easy and early kills (not 100% obviously, but still easy), but you can't do that in Smash 4, so players actually go deep, or try footstools, or instead focus on reading ledge getup or going for a trump. It's shines in the edgeguard and neutral phases of the game. What makes Melee so great is the speed and pace of the match. Just one hit can lead to heavy damage or even a stock. The advantage and juggling state of Melee is much faster. Also, because edgehogging exists, gimping is made a bit easier.
The game isn't better, it's just different. And I love how you're talking about it like its shallow yet if that was the case why is it that most Melee players can't really do well? Again, I play Melee and have for years, but you'll excuse me for not riding it's jock.

This is amazing we need more storytellers, way too much rich history in every melee set. Growing up in the scene its so nice to revisit things like this.
It's fascinating to see these stories come to life. I was just a kid when this started over a decade ago. To think I was jamming on the Gamecube, having fun with my brother and neighbor while these guys were kicking it up the next few levels. I got into competitive smash at the age of fifteen during the Genesis 2 tournament. I only saw videos, watched them casually for days. Armada was my favorite, Mango was the rival, Mew2King was the other kid rising up, and PP was another one of those guys trying to fit in between these gods of the game. It was an unbelievable time.
I think ppmd might be the only universaly loved thing in the entire smash community

There were some truly awful haircuts in the smash community back in the day
billygowhoop not the smash community, it was the 2000s. Everyone had bad hair.
I loose so much context being a casual viewer of Smash. The doc did wonders to get a glimpse of the world, but even simple references some players say get me really curious about the whole deal.
Smash competitive scene deserved a full-on media coverage since the start. This shit is more exciting on a personal level than anything the moba guys try to make it.

It's interesting how so many feel goody videos are about players rising in the game and beating m2k. It really tells you just how good m2k is that he is the benchmark and has been for so long. You only become somebody people want to talk about when you can beat m2k.

PPMD is a cool guy, I gained respect for him watching this. I wish they had some m2k parts.
We wish we could, unfortunately we can't always grab everyone we'd like to interview. Time/resources are limited when we're running around at events. PPMD was AMAZING to work with, we were very lucky to have the opportunity.
