Great bunch of treats love stoop waffles my sister in las was dutch and we always had them at her house with coffee.
The proper Stroopwaffel are good aren’t they, when they’re warm and full of gooey caramel sauce. As a snack these are an ok approximation
*TIP* If you ever get the peijneburg gingerbread cake again (the dense cake) then put some butter (margarine) on top of it, thats how we dutch ppl eat it :)

The normal cost for that box is £13.99, although you can get 20% off if it's your first box. I would have to say this box felt like less value than the ones we have had before, but still interesting to try some unusual snacks. As for the drink, I wouldn't rush out to get it again, it was very, very green wasn't it !

This is the 3rd video of Snackverse from you I have seen. If I have understood correctly, the monthly country selection is chosen my Snackverse not the customer. So, although I am not a fussy eater, there are some cuisines I just do not like. So to be honest, I am not sure this would be for me.

Yep, it's chosen by Snackverse, everyone who orders gets the same country that month. It's interesting to see what you get, but I'm not sure it is interesting enough for me to want to be a long term subscriber to it. The green drink was radioactive I reckon!!

Little story about the Hopjes. The story goes that it originates from mr. Hop who left his coffee with a lot of sugar on the heating and it became solid. And it turned out that people actually liked this accidental discovery. They are also named Haagse Hopjes as they originate from Den Haag/The Hague.

Great vid! The Dutch are known for there love of liquorice
I knew it was popular up in Scandinavia, but didn't realise it was popular in the Netherlands too - it was interesting to have that liquorice and banana flavour together certainly!!
When you were eating the Monkey heads I had food envy! I worked with a Dutchman and he used to give me liquorice sticks..... amazing
The stroopwafel, all Americans take some with them when they are going home.

We are very close to the border of Holland and sometimes take a ride to Venlo to the 2 Brüder store 😂 The Apekoppen are my favorite, I LOVE them ❤❤❤ The crocky crisps are always nice, there are bolognese flavored crisps, really good. The gefullde Koeken and Stroopwaffels are very nice, too 😊 yummie, I need to drive to Holland soon 😂
Glad to have reminded you to take a road trip, a 4 hour round trip for snacks shows real commitment :-) I once spent a weekend in Maastricht, and that was full of Belgian and German daytrippers as I recall. The Apekoppen surprised me, who would have thought liquorice and banana could work... but I think the Gefullde Koeken was my favourite thing from the box.
@@GreenoEats yeay, they were times it was cheaper to go to Holland or Belgium to buy coffee and fuel, I remenber day trips with my dad for fuel and goooood belgien or dutch fries only 🤣🤣🤣

Snack Verse is a cool idea and has some educational value as well. Sadly, Malaysia doesn't have that sort of thing.
However, we do have snacks up the wazzoo although a lot come from Korea, who seem to be overtaking everything right now.
It was a 3am kick off for me, and having slept through most of the second half in the Spain/France game because I stayed up all night, this time I prepared properly and went to bed for a few hours. Great result and I was so pleased it didn't go to extra time or I would have been up to see the sun rise!
It’s funny, Everyone was soooo critical of the England team and Southgate, and now it’s like the second coming cos we played decent in one game ha ha! How are Korean snacks? I bet they have some intriguing flavours.
Dutch liqurice is often hard and quite salty . .
And those spiced face cookies . Yumm . Theres also ones that have a windmill on them . . Yumm . . Dunked in a coffee mmmm . .

Nice variety of snacks there. The Green drink looks a bit fluorescent though. The ginger cake might have been good with custard on it. 👍
I reckon you could see that green drink from space !! You may be right about the cake - I remember having that Jamaica Ginger Cake bar sliced up with custard as a dessert when I was a nipper !
@@GreenoEats I have an old glass candle holder which has uranium in it. That drink was the same colour! Jamaican ginger cake and custard. Yum. 👍

Well has to be said. I like licorice 👍👏 My mum told me licorice gives you a good run for your money 🏃💶🧻 I do approve of bringing world food to our doors. I also love the fact that the " youth aspect " of the channel is giving the oldies a chance. A fair mix of items in the box. It's green on Greeno, thinking a large vodka or gin could be something to perk it up a tadge. Crisps are fairly standard world, maybe crunch up the Thai curry ones and sprinkle on chilli or just something spicy. Creepy, perfect word, to discribe the pug ugly baby faced monster biscuits 👹Ah, the ginger kack( not a typo😢) Nuff said. The mini waffles seemed OK. May have to check out the company Snack Verse and send my 23yr old little'un a box as a treat. See you in the next video Allan&Family
I've never been a fan of liquorice myself - although I do understand it's *ahem* medicinal properties were a good reason it was forced into us in our youth ha ha! That green liquid couldn't have been perked up by anything - somewhere there's a battery missing it's acid !

I know Lays and Walkers are owned by the same company, but when I was in Spain, the Lays always seemed to have more flavour, that coffee sweet sounded my kind of thing pity you only had one, they certainly over did it with the waffle things! I would of also liked the Bakewell tart style cake, guessed what it would be just looking at it! Then you said almond paste, lovely! That ginger cake looked more like pumpernickel!
The almond cake thing was definitely the star!!

I'm half Dutch. I grew up with Dutch food, especially from my Dutch grandmother. Still love Dutch licorice. Not for everyone, given the saltiness, but it's fantastic imo. It's a shame that the box had all these rather ordinary sounding crisps, but the Dutch do good ginger flavoured biscuits. Your daughter is a gem too. Good on her for helping you out with an interesting review.
It's interesting how what you think of as relatively small countries can have dramatically different foods that are popular than their neighbours isn't it ! So do you get to visit the Netherlands the? You still have family there?
@@GreenoEats Pre-pandemic, I used to go every year. Coming from Australia, it's not cheap or quick to go to Europe. The Netherlands is one of my favourite countries. I have a 2nd cousin there, but most of my family are now in Australia, Canada and the US. I'll definitely go back when I can afford it!

When you eat a gevulde koek, make sure you get the almond nut on the outside. That's what makes a gevulde koek a proper gevulde koek. And of all those things I think the chocolate bar you skipped is the worst just because it's artificial and not proper chocolate.
I still haven't eaten that chocolate bar actually - I'll put it in one of the kids lunches then ha ha !!
A lot of the items aren t even Dutch but made for the Dutch market

Match just starting. It's like a Cult . They are going crazy . I am not intimidated thank goodness. Go on England get in there and take it. Do not know any of those products. Lot of foreign goods in the high streets now. Polish is one. But cannot read polish, so unable to buy. It's all in the polish language.
That's what Google translate is for :-) I like having more foreign products in our stores - always good to try new things!

When I watched this I noticed that comments were turned off. An error on your part ? Now (tongue-in-cheek-time) snackverse must be getting desperate to keep sending you these (unless you are subbing). Now I thought that this one was more healthier that the Bulgarian one and I do like a gal with attitude. Never afraid to state her opinion :D
I noticed that myself. Strange as the box to close off comments is in a place I would never (consciously) click. Maybe it was me, maybe it was a weird YT moment, who knows. All fixed now though :-) Not sure why they keep sending me the boxes - I am not subbed, and only ever agreed to review 1 box for them, but little'un likes doing the videos so I guess we keep doing it as long as they keep sending it ha ha !!
