  • On June 16, 2015, Jeffrey S. Weber, M.D., Ph.D., discussed the cancer immunity cycle and the importance of antigen release and presentation to maximize the potential of immunotherapies.
    Jeffrey S. Weber, M.D., Ph.D., is a senior member, director of the Donald A. Adam Comprehensive Melanoma Research Center of Excellence (MRCoE), and professor in the department of oncologic sciences at Moffitt Cancer Center. As a tumor immunologist and immunotherapist, he focuses on translational clinical trials, including the development of novel trials in melanoma. His laboratory interests are in the monitoring and characterization of T cell responses in patients with cancer, and the establishment of in vitro models to facilitate the understanding of how immune modulation via abrogating and activating antibodies amplifies adaptive immunity in patients. Dr. Weber earned his Ph.D. in molecular cell biology from The Rockefeller University in 1979 and his M.D. from New York University Medical Center in 1980. Dr. Weber has published more than 100 articles in the top peer-reviewed journals in his field.
    This webinar, which is part of the Cancer Research Institute's Breakthroughs in Cancer Immunotherapy Webinar Series, was generously supported by Amgen. It is offered free to the public and feature informative updates from leaders in cancer immunotherapy, followed by a moderated Q&A.

    if the combination treatment can shorten the course of the treatment dramatically, then hopefully the cost will be the same or less..

    Tumor cells have many influencers . Suppressor cells T cells Immune cells check point proteins. Antigens are expressed on tumors. Viral antigens please express the treatment modality. What role do INTERFERON’S play ? Interleukins 1 -2 IL 10 IMmunoglobins express their interactions in tumor necrosis.

    Is something happening to the T & B cells long before a tumor appears? Maybe a foreign invasion like some bad cancer infection blood that activates the immune system. Maybe it changes the immune cells. Just wondering. I had a very strange neurologist do an unscheduled emg on me in a very remote room in a hospital. That was in 1995. He stuck the needle into the palm of my thumb. When I got back to the office the gauss was full of dark blackish blood. Today 2021 I have adenocarcinoma hhs. My ascending colon was removed. They also found the cancer in my lymph nodes. I'll be starting chemo in July.

    Can cancer cells ever reverse some of their mutations? Do they just turn faulty genes on/off? How do they change back and forth from being a differentiated cancer cell to being a cancer stem cell. I don't understand some points.

    Then why do doctors recommend chemotherapy?

    • @CancerResearchInstitute
      @CancerResearchInstitute  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! While immunotherapy is an effective treatment for many cancers and many patients, it is not yet an effective treatment for everyone. Oncologists make treatment recommendations based on the latest data and results from various studies, factoring in multiple variables about the patient and their cancer (genomic testing, biomarkers, progression, metastases, etc.). The field is changing rapidly and there are new studies coming out every week. Guidelines for treatment are revised continuously and adapted to each individual patient. We're excited about the future, including combination therapies that may combine chemotherapy and immunotherapy or surgery and immunotherapy. Learn more on our website: www.cancerresearch.org

      As a person diagnosed with the disease and chose to use natural therapy instead of conventional therapies, I learned that cancer is series of viruses that mutate and overwhelm the immune system. When those viruses grow every 120 days. Kill the virus by trying to maintain a ketogenic diet that promote the accelerators and limit the suppressor during the natural process called apotosis.
