- Parkinson's disease is a neurological condition that affects the brain and other parts of the nervous system. The gradual loss of nerve cells leads to a suite of characteristic motor and non-motor symptoms. What causes these cells to die and how the pathology develops in the nervous system are not yet clear but multiple lines of investigation are being pursued to answer these questions. In this animation, we explore some of the latest in Parkinson's disease research.

my father past away a week ago. he diagnosed with pd since he was 40. the most heartbreaking thing i saw in life is to see him deteriorating so badly that he couldn't walk without falling every few minutes and could not talk properly until no one could understand him And he could not control his jaw and would drool endlessly.even though he became a shell of his former self he never complained. he fought through everything. He fought to live another day.he was so strong but the combination of pd and covid 19 that he got in nursing home was too much.. he even overcame covid after 2 weeks which he was sedated and ventilated.He recovered but got pneumonia and a hole in his lung.and he couldn't fight anymore.he was a true hero.i'm so sad. he suffered so much.he didn't saw anything good in his life just fought to survive.r.i.p. father. i will carry on your legacy to hold on to life and fight everything and never surrender

My father has PD dementia. He is 85. Has slowly been going down hill for years (especially the past 10 years). The falls. The ER visits. Still Dad fought through it all. Still lived on his own
and still relatively independent. Seven weeks ago he got covid. He was absolutely destroyed...wiped out. He recovered. However, as in any health care episode encountered (especially the
past 4-5 years) he rebounds...BUT never to the level he was at before the event. Today, it's like he fell off a cliff both mentally and physically. A STEEP decline from which there is no
recovery. 24/7 skilled nursing/hospice care. Now hospital bed and wheelchair bound. We are combining hospice & palliative care. Keep him as comfortable as possible while dies.
We all die but this is nor way to go out. PD is one of the more horrific ways to "shuffle off this mortal coil"! pray he doesnt last more than a few months.

My grandma was diagnosed with this a few years ago, and I only learned it was worsening now. I worry a lot for her, and I can’t see her since she is across the country and the pandemic. My Grandma is also a Parkinson's Patient.. and I am very much worried about her.. She I taking Levopoda for dopamine boosting and Aricep for dimnesia.. But I can't see any progress in her. The fluctuation of electrolytes especially sodium potassium due to Parkinson's is the major scare for me

What is not mentioned, there is also the infection hypothesis, just like in Alzheimer's, with a recent paper finding fungal proteins in Parkinson brains.
What is fungal protein?

Hi, I'm from Peru and I'm a university student who helps his grandfather and give him love in the last days of his life. My grandfather of 78 years has Parkinson, but also he only have one leg since 24 years ago . And his stump hurts a lot. And it makes me very sad to hear how he complains about his pain at night (he can't sleep well), the pain comes about 6 to 7 times a day and then it goes away. Sometimes I feel useless because I don't know what to do when he suffers that pain. But I think that Parkinson's also affects him in something... I only tell you in all honesty.

This disease is challenging. I have a family member that has it that I live with, he's angry all the time.. I don't know if anybody else has any of these things, but it's terrible, scratching, hitting, pushing, threatening, scaring all that I don't know if anybody out there has the same issues.... if there's anybody out there that has the same issue it's my grandfather he just turned 80 and it's very bad with his attitude and his patients....anyone have same problem with there family member 😢???
Parkinson's takes too much toll in everyday life it takes too much effort even to maintain balance. and it really hurts a person's ego because of judging or blame themself because they can do nothing about it. so the mood is naturally bad and anger takes over and same time they are depresed also , because they cant do anything properly even communicate properly , this disease, in my family since my grandmother , my father always angery even when he was young maybe it is side effects of parkison . i have it too I am really rustrated all the time because this disease, take soo manny option on fields I want to work as or hobby I like my moter control and speech getting worse my age is 24.
Sometimes the part of the brain that can control emotion is destroyed and they naturally are feeling pain/anguish/anger and it comes out. This disease is one of the worst to watch someone go through. It is most difficult on the person that has it and horrible for those that are caretakers/family as well. Soooo bad! Just be there for them as best you can. And when it gets to the point where they cannot talk, let them know you still know they are in there. They need reassurance that someone understands and is trying to help them. Hugs to you.❤

I just attempted suicide last month by smashing my head to the wall several times, its kinda complecated because i am very depressed about my life(espicially that time) and isolated myself for years . Today I have notice a tremour, 1st in my head then my arm and feet and i can't sleep.
I don't know if this a TBI or a early appearance of Parkinson's disease.
I need help. I just realize life is precious and i don't want die young. Please tell me what to do. We are poor and my parents don't know this yet.

Parkinson disease is a very terrible illness, my Dad suffered from it for 19 years until we finally got a help and a medicine that truly works that helped treat, cure and reversed all his symptoms... My Dad is well again.

Short term memory problems as opposed to a good long term memory. Cant rember a standard beat for 30 seconds or more.
My friend was diagnosed with PD(Parkinson’s Disease) in the summer of 2012 and I was diagnosed 5 years ago. Her initial symptoms were quite noticeable so was mine. She first experienced weakness in her right arm and her speech and swallowing abilities were profoundly affected. She did so much to seek help for this disease, as she had been her brother's caregiver a few years earlier for the same disease. Early this year she started on organic/natural PD treatment from Best Dr Madida on UA-cam which she introduced to me too. The treatment worked very effectively and all her symptoms and mine simply disappeared completely after 7 weeks of usage.
