Her grandmother (who was filming) said that she was apprehensive when she started singing. Then watch how she jumps with excitement when she hits and holds a high note. She then realizes how good she is. Then later on, she hits another run and gives the camera a "Thumbs Up", as if she was telling her Grandmother "I got this!"

6.5 years old and she is already multitasking... reading, singing, checking with her grandma (I think she is taping) and giving a great performance.
From Angelina's laughter I can feel that she is having fun doing her singing.

It's amazing how she was able to hold some notes so long when she was so young. Unbelievable.

Great to see you go back and check out the beginnings! When I made the chronological list, I originally had it starting at her NGT performances, but I thought this one just had to be put added. Sure there are a couple things that could be picked out as "off", but the amount of soul she pours into this... it really shows that this is not just a girl that can sing... this is a girl that loves to sing, and loves music. When looking at her growth and progression, I think this is an important video to start with. There are a few even earlier than this one, but this one is where it really gets evident that we are looking at someone very special. BTW: This studio is at her music school.

There are at least two earlier recordings in this studio you should watch just so you can see her progression. Hurt. And Rolling in the Deep. She sings her little heart out with such joy. But isn’t worrying too much about the artistry of the song. The one you just did for me shows she is starting to sing it with more feeling. It’s just magical to watch these early recordings

Actually this is one of his first times in a recording studio and he was also reading the lyrics in English, which isn't the her first language, I loved those moments when the 6 year old girl comes out and shows happiness for being able to do what she thought was right, with a jump or thumb raised ... I barely knew the alphabet in my language at six years old 😮😆 I love these first recordings of Angelina, they are so spontaneous and she is so full of enthusiasm ...

The moment when she is so happy for her first high note, and the second when she gives her thumb up, is priceless. Maybe I am just too much teary these days, but even this does it for me. Even the fact that Angelina continued like a pro after doing a few mistakes with the lyrics, show what a talent and pro she is. At 6 years old. Try to explain that.. when you see or hear true genius you realize that the technical part of it , even if it might be imperfect is artistic and genius as well , its all about the total package. and then there is effortless mastery.. she is the total package like no other.

From countless hours of singing along with UA-cam videos of jazz artists on an Ipad as a toddler to studio prepping before her mother finally gave in to letting her audition for Norway's Got Talent. Obviously AJ is a quick study, but her innate gift she was born with radiates throughout the world and touches her fan base every day. Good for you on going with Rusty's playlist.
She's the cutest thing when she signals the studio operator she feels she's doing well, lol.
Just when you said it, I was going to point out that at 6 she's reading AND singing in a foreign language. How incredible is that?

Thank you for another heartfelt reaction to Angelina. Others have commented about her age (between 6 - 656), about the song (sung by the Welsh singer Tom Jones. It became his signature tune) and the remarks of the sound engineer., so really there is not much left for me to say :--( However, one thing has come to mind. As you have rusty's playlist, have a listen to all of Angelina's performances on Norway's Got Talent. You will be totally surprised how her voice matured from this performance to her first audition in the contest.
Actually she had is around six and a half. This is sound booth at her school. The man in studio is probably a teacher. This was filmed by her Grandmother. Based on what I remember they are talking about a mistake she made mixing up a line. Consider that this Norwegian girl who’s second language is Persian and third language is English is reading the lyrics in English after just turning six and singing. Her next stop is the audition for Norway’s Got Talent at seven singing Billie Holidays “Gloomy Sunday “.
Angelina was born and raised in Norway where English is the second language of at least 90 percent of those who are educated there today. Moreover, Angelina's father is a Swede for whom English is commonly a second language as well. Indeed, Angelina's entire family is fluent in spoken English, which is apparent in a number of videos in which they speak, and while I have never heard Angelina speak Persian or Farsi, the native language of her grandmother, she may also have ability in that regard.
Charles Smith Yes she speaks Persian and from what I understand from a very young age as a toddler from being around Grandmother and Grandfather. She spoke with the Iranian girl by herself for around 45 minutes at age six. I would imagine she also speaks some Swedish and Japanese as well. She sang a song to a Japanese audience in Japanese while in Japan at eight years old. I know English is second language in Scandinavia but believe Angelina was speaking Persian before entering school though I believe she was also in US prior to starting school in Norway. Young girl has been around and obviously has a knack for languages. Diction is almost impeccable. Also a few reactor vocal coaches have stated they hear some middle eastern tonal traces on some songs. Not being an expert I don’t know how to identify.
@@billweekley4077 No question that Angelina has a tremendous facility for language. She is demonstrably accomplished in phonetics, which helped in learning to sing "Like A River Flow" in Japanese, and she seems to have attempted French at times. On the other hand, I have never read that Persian was her second language or that she is fluent in that language, as is clearly the case with English. I would love to know from a family source if that is the case. I guess that we will have to await her autobiography to find out. Bill Weekley she speaks very fluent English without an accent. There is a video of her at 5 giving a tour of her room and she sings a little bit of Rolling in the Deep. She is quite comfortable speaking English to whoever is filming
It is uncommon for an English-speaking six year old to speak English with such clarity and enunciation as Norwegian Angelina Jordan does at six!
Great reaction Tyler, like a few said below, she was 6ish & it was done at her school's sound booth & she doing this as English is her 3rd language, ect ect.. That was a made popular by Tom Jones & Shirley Bassey.
As others here said, this was a big hit for Tom Jones in the 1960s. He has a brilliant voice - worth putting on the list for reaction. He was part of the golden era of music, 60s; 70s & 80s.

I WHO HAVE NOTHING is an Italian song written by Giulio Rapetti and the music was composed by Carlo Donida. It was first recorded in 1961 by Joe Sentieri with the title UNO DEI TANTI ua-cam.com/video/gMI9baBGGW4/v-deo.html . The English lyrics were written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and was first recorded by Ben E. King in 1963 ua-cam.com/video/flbR3oKLsAA/v-deo.html . Shirley Baassey released her version later the same year, Tom Jones recorded his version in 1970.
What I love about Angelina is her giving life again to these old classics.

If you turn on the captions, the young man recording (not her father) is asking if she made a few mistakes in the middle, to which she replies that she did. It was one of her first recording experiences. She messed up on the English word translations. It's not a perfect performance, but she's practically a baby! Like one of the Norway's GT judges said she sounds like she been drinking whisky for years! Great reaction, fun video!

This is most probably recorded at _"Kulturskolen",_ the public performing arts school in Oslo, where Angelina was taking music lessons from her preschool years until she moved to LA. And yes .. the audio we get to hear are the playback monitors at the mixer board as picked up by the cellphone/camcorder - I wish that some day we get the actual studio recorded audio file.
Angelina is a school student, at the age of 6 she reads English lyrics!!, it's her arrangement - at the end the technician told her that she had switched / mixed up / the lyrics, she must have known because you don't notice it much in the song - only after a few plays - she just kept going. I am not a big fan of perfection but I do love warmth. I am a rugged commercial diver and Fisherman that spent most of my years under the Pacific Ocean and in the wilderness that generally had no care for humans but when I her her sing and performed it gives me hope. This song is a staple of singers like Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. Both of them have incredible covers of this song. Angelina tripped over a few of the words but wow is her voice mature for a 6 year old.
The studio tech guy told her she messed around in the mid part of the song, mixing some of the words. And this was on the first take/ recording of this song. But as he said, " but other than that , this was very good". Pretty good for a 6 year old. She has depth in her. Managing to sing this song like that.

Like most people in Norway and Sweden, she grew up bilingual. It seems like she spoke English as much or more at home than Norwegian.
Angelina lived in USA when she was very little. Her father worked at an oil rig in the Gulf. At the age of 6 Angelina's family had moved back to Norway.
There is a interview with Angelina at the age of 5 telling about her toys in English. So she was using English a lot as a kid and probably thinking in English.
Actually she spoke Norwegian with some accent the first years she was back in Norway. She sometimes spoke Norwegian with English sentence syntax. She even put in some Swedish words in her Norwegian. Probably because her father is Swedish.
She moved back to USA in 2018 so she speaks English really well now. Probably fluently already. Her school friends said Angelina is exceptional in math and language at school in addtion to the obvious music.
I consider Angelina to be international. She has so many different culture influences in her family. Japanese and Iranian from her mother's side, Swedish and Italian from her father's side. In addition she has visited many countries influencing her. Still, her heart is in Norway as her own song "Oslo" describes so well.

Yes Norway has a form of socialism. Though heavy taxes. Must be working for them as by survey year after year the Scandinavian country’s are shown to be the happiest in the world and lately they have been producing world class singers by double digits. They must be doing something right.

Many people say she was 6 here, but I say 7 based on her teeth. Unfortunately, it's taking forever to type up my full explanation, so I will post it here later as a reply to this comment.
OK, I've done even more research into this, and I now say she was either 7 or 8 (!) in this video. (When I say "this video" or "this session" below, keep in mind that I'm always referring to the video that Alpha Tyler reacted to, the original of which is at ua-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/v-deo.html .)
Before I get into the details, let's nail down some terminology: when I say "incisor" I'm talking about one of her upper central incisors (her "front teeth"); when I say "lateral", I mean one of the adjacent teeth to either side of the central incisors. All of this is about her upper teeth, not lower. Of these four baby/deciduous teeth, she first lost her right incisor (on our left, as we look at her), then sometime later she lost her left incisor and two laterals.
All four of these baby teeth can be seen in the "room tour" video when she was reportedly 5 ua-cam.com/video/dPJL6u2Ne3g/v-deo.html where she sang "Rolling in the Deep" with that "not so good" toy guitar (best view is 55 seconds into the video). Notice how her incisors had a very distinctive shape: they were almost trapezoidal, tapering inward toward the tip.
When she recorded "Hurt" ua-cam.com/video/mmMBBsL02uQ/v-deo.html , "Rolling in the Deep" ua-cam.com/video/M-QspUVhrUM/v-deo.html , "Skyfall" ua-cam.com/video/Oc50HiItEu0/v-deo.html , and "What a Wonderful World" ua-cam.com/video/7m7h-KzW5fQ/v-deo.html in the same studio as this video, her right incisor (on our left, as we look at her) was missing but her left incisor was still there (as a baby tooth), as were her laterals. (The best views are in the last of these videos, where she's listening to playback of WAWW and mugging for the camera [and Grandma] as she "acts out" the lyrics.) There are other videos of her from around the same time that (to the extent that her teeth are visible at all) appear to show the same thing, dentally speaking. None of them show the teeth very clearly, though, so I'm not bothering to link them here. The point is, there are so many videos from this time, that it seems she spent a significant amount of time with her teeth in this condition.
Jumping forward to her "Gloomy Sunday" audition for _Norske Talenter_ (Norway's Got Talent), when she was _definitely_ 7 and quite close to turning 8,(*) ua-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/v-deo.html there is a good shot of her teeth in the little pre-song backstage interview segment when she shows how she will react if the judges like her performance (56 seconds in). Notice how her right incisor was an adult tooth almost fully descended (more than halfway, anyway), her left incisor was also an adult tooth just starting to break through, and both laterals were clearly missing.
(*) Note: The early episodes of each season of NGT are prerecorded, and the semifinal and final rounds are broadcast live. The 2014 season started with 3 episodes airing on 17-31 January 2014, then a break for the Winter Olympics, and then a fourth episode on 28 February. Angelina's audition was the final one shown in the fifth episode, broadcast on 7 March 2014. However, there's no telling how far in advance her audition actually happened, since auditions were held in three distict regions of the country and aired "by region" in the show, but not necessarily in the order they happened. (The first two episodes were from Trondheim, north of the other two locations; next two from Os, on the southwest coast; and the next 3, including Angelina's audition, from Olso, in the southeast. The remaining two live episodes were broadcast from Olso.) [Oh, and reminder: Angelina was born on 10 January 2006.]
So, now back to this "I Who Have Nothing" recording session. At the end of the first verse and immediately afterwards when she celebrates, you can see that her right incisor is obviously the same adult tooth as in her NGT audition, and both laterals appear to be missing, as well (although it's very hard to tell because of the poor resolution of the video, and the lighting), but her left incisor is very different. I can't actually tell whether it's still the baby tooth or a partially grown-in adult tooth. If it's the former, then I say she was 7, based on the significant development of her right incisor; if it's the latter, well, then she's quite possibly 8, since her left incisor, if it is the same adult tooth she had in NGT, appears to be even more developed than in her second-round a cappella performance of "I'm a Fool to Want You". ua-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/v-deo.html (See also this intriguing video ua-cam.com/video/r5GzS25fziY/v-deo.html posted on 6 February 2014, where she is getting ready in the morning, apparently to go to perform on NGT. [Can someone translate what she says at the beginning of the video? And what is said to her at the end?] Her teeth look almost identical to what's seen in her IAFTWY performance. So, did that performance take place on or around 6 February??)
BTW, there is a very similar clip of her recording IWHN that was included in a TV segment that aired on 29 March 2014 ua-cam.com/video/4EPqVvliE7I/v-deo.html (clip is at 2:46). That recording session was on a different day (different clothes), and it looks to me like it was after this session, because she was no longer looking at the lyrics as she sang. Also, "for completeness", there is a short TV profile of her that aired on 9 April 2014 (in the lead-up to her live semifinal performance of "Bang Bang" on 11 April), in which she sang IWHN a cappella ua-cam.com/video/jHqzJpEtv_8/v-deo.html (this is just the singing part). She sang the song noticeably differently (and from memory), so it seems to me that some significant amount of time had passed since this studio recording session.
