a map mod I like is shuffle++ It basically stitches a bunch of random maps together, so you could get a big chunk of highlands, then a sea filled with islands, then a swampy wetland. it's cool, particularly with larger map sizes
Yeah, since I love domination Persia is always my primary pick, I feel at home really watching this game. The thing that I always do in Ancient era is a double scout and trying to find some preferably far away civ's just for a sake of declaring war on them, this 2 hex boost to movement is a bargain it works so well with lowered penalty for surprise war. This helps in exploration snowball having 2 scouts with 5 movement I can find next civ's for war declarations with added bonus of quickly finding tribal villages etc. Usually I can cycle the war / peace between 2 or 3 such a distant civs all the time to keep this boost alive. Try it, and you will love it!
@@TedSCSI My fav strategy with JFD’s Hitler as well, you get +1 mov and +15% prod for military units while at war with a major civ so I just declare on someone miles away quickly spam a ton of units and roll over whoevers closest
Here is a MASSIVE trick to war. If YOU are attacked. Place ranged units in your cities/encampments. They can get a + attack buff from a promotion when in districts (city center counts as district too) And have walls in every city. Then you can have 2 shots at your enemies without taking damage. If you got the gobernour victor you van even hit 3 times. 😂 Then just have some melee units to surround enemy units and finish them off easily. When ur in the attack, your front line must be infantry and cavalry. Have ranged units and siege units behind them. You can increase siege unit range even later on with observation balloons and drones. 😂😂 to the point cities can't even hit your artillery units late game.😅 its good fun. Early game tips on siege weapons: Catapults, bombards, canons: these are used to destroy the city walls and lower city HP. Battering rams: theyare for walls, link with mellee units. Siege tower: link with mellee units (infantry like man at arms) and allow them to ignore the wall fortification and directly hit city HP. (HAS NO USE IF THE CITY IS NOT BESIEGED. AS IT WILL HEAL EVERY TURN IF NOT UNDER SIEGE.) [To siege a city you need to place several units around the city. Make sure at minimum all tiles adjacent ro the city are covered by your mellee units. This will usualy take around 3/4 units around the city. 😊😊 Defensive buffs for mellee units: fortify on hills and forest tiles. (Stacks on forest hills) Fortress buildings, encampments and city centers. And at the other side of a river. Attack debuff: being on marshes and floodplains as well as being embarked on water as a Not Navy unit. 😊 Having units next to each other can give support bonus on damage. Surrounding enemy units can give flankong bonus (some units gain more flanking or support bonuses based on unit and/or civ) And fcourse Intel on enemy units. By having higher intel on the civ by having embassies and/or spies in their capital. Ur welcome.
I wanted to scream at him when he talked about razing Akkad in a conquest game. Akkad and Kabul are so strong for warmongers the presence of either nearby can shift an entire game's strategy.
I've played a simular amount and still have yet to see a nuke or use one, although my PC is slow as hell so a lot more time spend loading then others and still so bad at war I ain't won a domination victory yet
Part of me was really hoping he'd save the tile next to the iron for an IZ - but the encampment was a solid decision without spending gold on a 3rd ring tile to put it one tile further out.
Nere's Seven Seas is a map script tweak that makes seven seas, in my opinion, the absolute perfect balance between land and sea, with islands, lots of canal potential, etc

This video: Can't expand, can barely defend my own cities, having to deal with wave after wave and wave of troops. There is literally nothing else I can do except lose. Next video: My infantry can fire arrows with dynamite on them. Everyone else's walls are useless and I'm unstoppable.
I like you Potato. I just cant get excited about Civ VI. Its all so complicated listening to you and I dont understand it all and cant be bothered to learn this edition to the degree that you have, but I like your love of this game and how each game us different so keep watching. Have loved Civ since it first came out.
If I had been playing this, I would have put both those encampments one away from each enemy city centre. That way I could have fired on them endlessly and both cities would have been guaranteed to fall with minimum effort. The iron would be protected by the cities' fall. It's my lazy way of playing because, with the AI as an enemy, those cities are pretty much guaranteed to fall any way.
I would be having palpitations at the start you had. War all around you by tun 13. Cities falling, cities flipping. People settling in your backyard. Basically 3 opponents all squeezed together with seemingly no where to expand to. Not to mention the random warriors walking past your open city. Honestly, that's a reroll for me.
Left clicking doing the same as right clicking some times is the most annoying thing in this game. If I wanted to right click I would have right clicked
12:59 It would be fun if in Civ 7 there was a mechanic for you to use a military unit (like your slinger there) to capture a settler or builder without having to declare a full war. Perhaps in the response there's a way for the other civ to declare a retaliation war, and maybe their chances of knowing who took their civilian unit is based on their own espionage skill level and diplomatic knowledge (or whatever system is in place).
Think of it like an abduction, it's a clandestine operation, it's secret. Perhaps like siphoning gold works, there's a dice roll involved. When not at war, each time you have a military unit move onto a foreign settler or builder, a warning screen could pop up and indicate the chance of success, perhaps a dice roll based on each of the civ's related tech or civics. If you win, you get the unit, if not, the opposing civ is alerted to the abduction and has a chance to formally accuse you of the theft (on the world stage, it could trigger an emergency, but if no one else joins it the emergency can still go through, just it'll be a 1 on 1 emergency. Idk, maybe it's overpowered, maybe it's stupid. But it'd be fun, I think. @@T0tenkampf
