Rhino 7 - Subd was awesome, I moved from Rhino 5 to 3ds max for Upholstery and Sofa products than SUBD came in R7 so, I moved back to Rhino but due to very poor unwrapping I had to export my models in 3ds max for unwrapping, But now I guess Rhino 8 will solve my issue, I know it is not pro like 3ds max in unwrapping, But I guess I should try it.
Massive respect for McNeel as a company. Very fair and they deliver a lot of value for the money. None of the forced subscription plans, forced cloud hosting, or the other manipulative garbage that most software companies have started doing while chasing a quick buck at the expense of the customer.
@@TheRhinoEssentials sweet where do get access to this free trial ? I'm on Fusion but getting sick of it crashing whenever I go back & make changes in past functions
Another great video as always!....coming back to Rhino after years of NX and Catia and I can't believe how much more advanced it is....feels like the complete package now, taking the best bits from all the big hitters (or at least enough that you don't need 6 different software packages now). Would love to see a video on complex blend surfacing variations/options in Rhino 8...I'm still a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to blending surfaces in G2/G3, but would love to see different ways of doing it! Thanks 👍
Rhino 8 on my imac pro is super unstable. its a real shame as I couldnt even use the 30 day trial as it was just crashing so much. so now I will continue with intel and V7 mac rhino until it just no longer works before upgrading to Apple silicon as i just cant trust it to work properly / any better than V7.
Loved the video. General rhino question: I’ve gotten used to thinking in groups and nested groups in sketchup. Any advice on a grouping system within Rhino? Thanks for the consistently useful content
This is a workflow thing I need to look into more, because Rhino's objects don't act the same way as SketchUp's (which I'm still not super comfortable with :) ). There is a group function that does group objects but I currently don't have any strong workflow recommendations yet
Not entirely a replacement, but you can create sublayers in folders in the layer panel and use layer colour to help differentiate objects, as well as using the group tool.
Hi I'd be super grateful if you could help me with my rhino setup. I've just bought and downloaded rhino and the setup is very different to yours which is very frustrating when trying to navigate and learn. How di you get the left hand side shortcut toolbar and Osnap there and also the darker mode please?
I can't see the Sweep1 Sweep2 seams in this new version. Also, when I'm drawing a three point rectangle, I'm unable to see it so I am not able to get accurate points. Can you give any tips on that?
I have a silly question - How do I set up autosave on Rhino 8? I followed the steps made for the old version and I cannot find it for the life of me. Greatly appreciated if anyone can assist me
Can you please help me I m trying to flow objects on surfaces, but the uv map for the surface change the objects properties, I tried everything about auto adjust and riged, but the problem became in the uv map of the surface. Please some advices 🙏
Rhino is great and thank you to the engineers and scientists who actually contribute to the art.flow chart GUI first on bidule is great.Using algorithms in this manner is so powerful. Back your work up and Faraday bag the drive or ROM susceptible to EMP it's simple it's not expensive you can just do it in a small trash can with aluminum look at the tutorials you don't want to lose your work especially on the cutting edge of three-dimensional graphics processing.
It’s a really good review. Short enough but covering a lot. Also it seems that if Rhino 7 was kinda revolutionary with inbuilt subd and Rhino Inside, Rhino 8 is more like just a regular update. Among all this new features, for me personally ClippingDrawings looks most interesting. Sometimes I think that if Rhino had a view spaces like in revit or arhicad and built in tables, it possibly could compete with those programs in some areas. Maybe it is a step forward in that direction.
Justin, are you at the point you'll move from Sketchup to Rhino as your *primary tool?* There are *far less* people doing *good* Rhino tutorials compared to Sketchup. If you moved primarily to Rhino content, I believe your Rhino videos would have a lot less competition and potentially a longer-term viability/viewership. There isn't a single Rhino v8 architectural tutorial and the v7 tutorials are not great. You could learn a great deal yourself while also helping others, if you were to put together a nice soup-to-nuts course from a DWG to 3D model.
Probably not. I use Rhino, Blender, Fusion 360, and SketchUp, but I always seem to go back to SketchUp as my primary tool in most situations - probably because most of the modeling I do is very architecturally focused. (I know Rhino can do architectural modeling, but it's just never felt as fluid as SketchUp to me) That being said, the reason I HAVE all these other channels is that I want to continue to learn and grow, so I am planning on continuing to add content and try to make this channel a better resource for learning to use Rhino. Rhino 8 is brand new (out of beta at least), so it's not surprising there aren't many tutorials for it yet. I'm sure many of the other Rhino channels will be rolling out new Rhino 8 tutorials over the coming months as well.
Please excuse me to iterate from the latest Whitney Webb interview.. they will EMP blast all electronics within a year in an attempt to privatize the internet so download backup and Faraday bag all electronics you don't want wiped. Please communicate to friends and developers. Save your work

Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about the new features in Rhino 8 in the comments below! :)

I like the section style stuff SketchUp should add it
Man this release is incredible

These new features are really useful for me as a student. That selective clipping is useful when presenting my structures.
My gosh! These changes are game changing! I am so excited and made I am just now looking into Rhino 8!
I’m definitely moving into rhino this next year. It’s looking better and better.
It's got a 90 day free trial - give it a shot!

I have rhino 7. Looking forward to the push pull features hopefully I can do away with sketch up.

Hi Justin, The rest update was amazing! but what i realize is the enscape toolbar in my rhino 8 is disappeared.
bro!
you're everywhere! LOL
i just stumbled across this & saw you do Rhino as-well...
love your work & so happy i can now learn Rhino from you too
Unfortunately this push pull thing isnt cutting holes for me. I am trying to do it with a circle on a surface. Could you please help me?

So what is the status on using a common file format like IFC, or making Rfa files?

it looks like the developers are concerning about more fields of users

Lol - doing my best :)
bro people gonna have a heart attack with you
why they did not do this before?
Release version 8? I'm assuming because they were working on version 7?
3ds max had all these features centuries ago.
I mean...ok? Rhino has a TON of modeling features Max doesn't have too...
Garbage update. Fillets still doesn't work correct. UI looks even more messy. On my PC v8 works slower than 7. Time to say goodbye to Rhino.
Try plasticity.... Is cheaper and feels way faster. I love rhino, but its pricing just increased above i can pay now.
