Nice running Matt. Really enjoyed watching your videos since the October Manchester Marathon. Ran my first half marathon in the same event earlier in the day in 1:21:52, delighted with that. Stuck around for the 10k, saw you about 200m from the finish. 👍
Well done! I was in the white wave. Finished in 59mins but my 10k time was 58.28 which is a pb for me. My 10k went off at 200 meters to go. I found I was wearing in and out all the way in the white wave. Even having to dodge walkers! So happy with my time all in all when I consider last year it was my 1st ever event and I did manchester in 1hr 3 min! Keep up the good work!
Ive not long started watching your UA-cam channel mate. Usually catch you on TicToc, your content is great. Very inspiring. i keep promising myself to get back to the running and get some strong achievements under the belly, yup under the belly not the belt.
Congrats Matt, great time that. I ran with that sub 40 pacer you showed towards the start and managed a 39:49 so really chuffed! Have to agree with what you said at the end re people standing way too far forward for their expected finishing time on the start line, spent the first 500 metres dodging much slower runners before I finally found space and a rhythm. Regardless, great race, onto the next!
Ah well done mate, yeah I think it happens more so on the bigger events like this and London etc.. where you get a lot of people who don't know the dance properly yet lol good job on the race Alex :)
Well done Matt. Nice to bump into you today. Glad you hit your target. PS. I was happy with the 800m, 400m and 200m markers for the final kilometre. Really helps keep you in the game when you are in the pain chamber
@@MattRuns I had a great day overall. I went for a suicidal race strategy to see if I could get close to sub 40. It was all or nothing for me. My fitness was probably around sub 42 in all honesty but I managed 42:17 after a mile 5 blow up 😅. I have no regrets going all in because I feel I have something to work on for the Wilmslow 10k in July
Good work ;) Been watching your channel the last few weeks and was a few rows behind you at the start...in fact I am in the video as you pan round at 2.33. Not in your league though as finished in 44.02!
Wow. Huge congratulations Matt. What a brilliantly paced run. 🎉🎉 Starting pen congestion can be frustrating. I think organisers could do more to make sure people run in their correct waves. Maybe start a bit further forward yourself next time? Congratulations once again and big respect for the commitment you’re putting into this. Very best of luck at your upcoming half marathon.
That's definitely something to bear in mind next time (starting further forward) but i doubt I'll do this one again.. onto the Wilmslow 10k next in July mate.. that should be fun 👍🏻👍🏻 and thankyou for the congrats.. appreciated 👍🏻
Well done Matt, had a chat with you just before the start. Think you came passed me at 7k. My watch says it was a bit long as well. Great run, your a genuine bloke. Keep going pal 👍
Excellent effort. 10ks are a tough old beast. The pain was evident at the 8k mark. Well done on a great time and I’m glad you’re satisfied with the result.
Well done. I was confident you were gona get below 40 from watching your training sessions :). I had the same problem with weaving between people at the Birmingham half. It was mixed with the 10k race as well, so I was overtaking people for the whole race.
It can be abit of a nightmare at the start, i just out it down to the amount of people and alot of them are new to it as well.. I've been there and done what they have so it's one of those things i guess haha 👍🏻👍🏻
A bit late to the party but well done in great running Matt. Amazing what happens when we do some training, eh? It was a hot day that Sunday as I was racing a 10k also that day albeit 100s of miles away on the gorgeous sunny south coast. Racing in glorious blue skies is great for topping up sun tan ☀️
Thanks Donato, it was a nice surprise having some good weather and a few nice hot spots around the course because it was predicted to be really grim 😆👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome job executing your plan, Matt! That’s a really impressive time man! I was much slower than you yesterday (my first ever 10k lol) and ended up doing an extra 0.42km on Strava due to all the dodging and weaving at the start. Lesson learnt for next time! Best of luck with your next races over the summer! 👍
Incredible work mate !! If only people would just stand in the right place 😕. I can't believe your smashing put that time so soon after a hard hard marathon mate.....well done 👍. Marathon did someone say marathon 🤣🤣.... can't believe I've got to run mine on Sunday. Haha got a nervous anxious laugh going 😅 on here !!
Well done matt came across your channel over the weekend and binged the thing 😂 excellent effort today bro, keep going and those times will only improve, 👍 👏
Awesome video Matt. I too did manc 10k last week and then media city one few days later. All great experiences mate! - nice to see a fellow UA-camr posting this type of content in Manchester. I do the same bud. Keep it up 👍🏽
Nice mate. Really inspiring to watch a big lad like you belt it round sub 40 10ks! I’m 90kg myself and have a 40:08 in the bank… working on it. What kind of pace do you run your easy runs?
@@MattRuns My wife's mum got diagnosed with dementia I did a walk for in 2020 but I am looking to do a run next August it is going to be 14 miles don't know if that's enough time to train for it but everything I make will be going to Alzheimer's awareness I really really hope I have a time to do it is there any tips and tricks you could help me with please I don't have the money to get a PT would be very grateful if you could help me please I have never run before 🙏🙏

Great run and pacing Matt💪 Really warm today 🥵
Thanks Chris, i thought that at about 5 miles.. funny thing was, it predicted rain all week and we get a nice surprise 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 hope you're good
Great running matt, and well done on explaining why your distance went over, too many people fail to understand that watches are not 100% accurate.
Well done mate amazing running 🙌🏻
Congrats on your race, amazing result! I did the 10k too, absolutely loved the atmosphere but it was a tad too warm for my liking
Awesome, Matt. Congrats on the sub 40. Below 39 definitely within your reach for the next race, especially with the confidence gained from today.
Well Done Matt Cracking Race and time congrats

The Wilmslow 10k is a good one mate in July, July 10 i believe.. very fast similar course to that one actually 👍🏻 (and has never gone over on GPS)
@@MattRuns cheers man. Will take a look! Doing Great North Run in Sept, so might be worth doing some more 10k prep to keep me on track!
Well done on a great race result you should definitely be pleased with that one and keep on building on it! 💪

Amazing mate, you ran past me about 4/5k and I thought wow ANIMAL!
Kudos on the sub 40 matt perfectly paced. Don't worry about losing speed mate. As long as the frequency is there you will be fine
Ah thanks Lee, be good to see you one day and do a video.. Top man 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice mate. Really inspiring to watch a big lad like you belt it round sub 40 10ks! I’m 90kg myself and have a 40:08 in the bank… working on it. What kind of pace do you run your easy runs?
Cheers mate, my easy pace can be anything from 5.15/km to 4.45/km depending on the day, i usually go off of HR on easy days between 130 - 140 bpm 👍🏻👍🏻
@@MattRuns nice one. Yeah but quicker and HR is a bit lower than my easy days but something to aim for one day!
Good job 👍
Top effort mate 👍
Do you still weight train? You've got a decent size on you considering how much effort you put into running
Yeah I still weight train but nothing like I used to, I used to do around 2 hours a day, now its some back garden weights and a load of press ups :-)
Respekt, mit Kamera und als Kraftsportler , Sub 40 min
