I am literally in the middle of watching your video. I HAVE TO TELL YOU, the first stop you made, my dad took a picture and painted it 3 different ways, one was oil, water and then acrylic. I got the acrylic one… of him looking down into the water. He has passed for over 15 yrs now. But the fact you stopped at that site, FREAKED ME OUT! My mom and dad had a house on the beach in Ensenada for many years that would visit on weekends and vacation. GOD BLESS. And from the bottom of my heart… THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO

Hi from steamboat Colorado. We did a 2 month trip to Baja this past “mud season” and loved it. We are planning another mex trip this mud season to mainland MX and that’s how we found your channel. @@FnAVanLife Play Ukulele in Imperial Valley 20 miles north of Mexicali in February and I was planning on going through Tijuana like you did. Then while reading about Baja I saw Mexicali was the capital which is amazing because I’ve crossed there for tacos and come back the same day, it is so easy it reminds me of the crossing into Canada where I grew up. Sooooo grateful I get to avoid driving in Tijuana.
Sadly Mexico 🇲🇽 is cleaner than a lot of San Francisco or Los Angeles.
No tents and feces on the streets or junkies everywhere.

It reminds me of Haiti. I loved driving through the little towns and going in the markets. The smells and the food? OMG! I miss Haitian roadside food.

as for the toilet, yeh once the main bowl get's higher than the water inside the bowl that you can't see, it flushes. At least older models like most of us use. AND that there is no clogs of course. haha.
Hahaha yep. I've used this trick before when the top holding tank wouldn't fill when I was younger. That is why I knew what to do lol

wow David thank you so much for saying so! Yes we are a two person show over here. Frankie and I spilt the editing. We both will work through a rough edit, then I (Alex) will do the final look through and cut down, then Frankie does all the audio. It's a lot of work but I think we're really getting into the swing of it and it's great to hear you're enjoying the quality!! We also answer all the comments too haha xo Alex

I've said it before, you've come a long way, and you're still incrementally improving, definitely a big accomplishment!
I've lived on the Texas/Mexico border since 1983 (minus a handful of years on the east coast), and I could have warned you about all the downsides. And it IS dangerous because of competing drug cartels (and, quite honestly, unscrupulous federales). The only place I'll go these days is Cozumel. The best advice I can give is to always be watchful...anything that even hints at raising the hairs on the back of your neck, circle the wagons and bugout.
Thank you so much Ceti Fox! We've heard the border towns are the worst but are defintiely being vigilant and will 100% trust our guts on getting out of places/situations that feel uneasy. From everyone we've talked to here, Baja is quite safe as it runs on tourism. Mainland will be a whole other ballgame. Xo

I always buy from the street sellers. Waste a buck or two? Sometimes you get really tasty stuff. Sometimes you don’t. They need the cash.
I gave up on Costco pumps. The pre purchase routine is a pain. We buy at Pemex and if we need to stop for the night we park overnight. Truck stops have clean bathrooms and some have showers. Usually free.
We have been using pemex and buy from street vendors mostly now that we have been down here for a bit. You are totally right about getting more for your money or less lol
I saw a guy in Illinois selling cotton candy by the interstate ramps and in ny a guy selling water and Gatorade. Blew my mind.

Do you ask about ingredients in prepared items like tortillas and bread?
We have found a lot of tortillas are made with vegetable oil not lard. I feel like lard is more expensive so they opt for the cheaper alternative. We're not fretting it too much though. It is what it is. I'll throw everything out the window for a good slice of cake lol

How do you keep from getting sick from their water? Cause I’ve heard some of the food can cause it cause it’s washed or soaked in water.
We mostly cook all our own food. So that will make it a lot less likely for us to get sick. We only get purified water at the agua stations and then we wash all of our own fruits and vegetables with that. We also have a Berkey which filters the water even further. Just a heads up alot of the produces you get in the stores in the states comes from Mexico 🇲🇽
