This has got to be my favourite episode ever. This restaurant is the one and only place I've ever seen in any cooking show ever that I've decided on planning a trip for. And I'm not even in the US.
Whats up with Ben's look. He looks like during the day hes a middle school math teacher, but on the weekends he plays bass in a molly hatchet cover band.
Alan Koffman 🤣😂🤣😂🤣hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha lol that just made me spit my drink on my laptop as I’m watching middle eastern steak cooking at 4amET in Boone NC 🤷🏻♂️
Salt and pepper on steak is literally an American Standard......pretty sure we can all agree on that......I would see why Brent feels that way. But we all gotta understand in different parts of the world, they use a whole lot of spices to enhance the taste of the meat. Which I have to say isnt bad. I like it. Salt and pepper is an American thing tho. Thats what I put on my steaks, and so does everyone who was born here. It comes natural to us. But I would challenge you all to step outta your comfort zone, and spice it up a little. I would love to try that seasoning from Georgia.
Hospitality? What? Great to hear a restaurateur talk about that and share his appreciation for the way he was treated abroad. Hospitality is a lost art here in the PNW. I was in North Carolina last year and it was alive and well. Noticeably different and valued. Made the eating experience so much better. When I'm in DC I'm eating there... Thanks for the video.
The argument for using a different spice should be: "Why is pepper OK but not something else?" Answer: "Because we've always done it that way." which is a dumb reason. Ironically, pepper was originally used to cover the flavor of meat that had gone rancid. Salt, I understand... it's a fundamental ingredient that's necessary for our bodies to function. But why is it that the only other spice that you see on a table is pepper? There are a ton of fantastic spices that are can and should accompany food. Spices can improve beef or steak just as well as it can improve pork or poultry. We just need to get over our biases.
@@end.olives like the chili powder they used. Or cumin, cayenne, five spice, coriander, or any number of other spices used in meat dishes all around the world. Pepper is far from the only good spice on meat.
Pepper, or any spice in general, wasn't used to cover rancid flavor. In Europe, If you were rich enough to buy spice, you were definitely rich enough to have fresh meat everyday at your table. Anywhere else in the world, if you had access to pepper or anykind of spice, you would just use it in your food like westerners use their own herbs.
I had that exact experience with people being like "that's not how my grandma made it!" because there are so many Iranians, and Syrians, and Lebanese in Denmark, and I love cooking their foods with them. At the end of the day I always ask: "But. Is it good?" and they're like "Yeah, it's pretty good." Don't be too upset about making stuff differently guys, food is supposed to evolve and travel. :)
Great to see the boys down in D.C. 👍 This restaurant looks awesome...cuisine from Morocco to Armenia and everything in-between. Next time I'm there, I'll hopefully be able to swing by.
Hey! New subscriber here from the 🇬🇧 🙋🏼♀️ Can someone explain something, the guy with the Tash, is he always so serious? Like he never smiled once in this video, the other guy is awesome!
To be honest I thought these two guys were tool-ish the first I watched, completely wrong. Two great guys who seriously love food, keep the videos coming great job guys!
I also was a bit unsure, mostly cause I wasn't sure if i'd be in to the food content, but that's almost a second to the personalities, not just of the hosts but of the guests. its pretty clear you all share a similar philosophy on food and just want the world to see how good great food is and why! cheers boys
these 2 need their own show, i subscribed thinking this was it since it only recommended me the videos with them in it but unsubbed when i noticed it wasnt and most all other videos on the channel are pretty lifeless without them.
Weird that one of the sustainable development goals of the UN is to get people in developing countries move away from cooking with biomass, but in developed countries, restaurants use the primordial feeling as a novelty. I hope they have technology that reduces emissions and a vent that prevents people from inhaling the smoke. I also hope they are sponsoring the planting of more trees to replace all the wood they use.
We call it a kanun/kanoon. Tastes so good! But we dont even spice it as much as you guys did ngl...we just like the taste of the meat with a bit of salt and pepper.
“You get in the morning, have your coffee, worship Satan then get this fire going.” That’s how I thought the opening with talking about the fire was going to go.
Brent’s tiptoeing around explaining why they don’t recommend putting anything else other than salt and pepper on a steak was hilarious.
Nick Supapol did you notice how the chef wasn’t looking at him at all after that 😂
this.. looks.. fine.. *zoom in on face* o _ o
Why did he have a pentagram in the flames?
I saw a Lone Star steak waiting to happen.
That chef was pissed
When did Ben start looking like a dad from the '80s?
It started around 2003. Borderline 70's dad at this point.
Prolly around his 12th birthday
Looks like the dad from Family Ties
Ben looks like John Candys uncle Buck characters best friend and neighbor if Uncle Buck had one.
@@BST1000SoccerStuff Thanks for the reply Ben love you guys.
The chefs are super humble and respectful. They get it.
This is why nice steaks etc are so amazing when camping, cooking over fire is one of the best.
“I encourage the lack of utensils” . . . food just tastes better when you use your hands.
This has got to be my favourite episode ever. This restaurant is the one and only place I've ever seen in any cooking show ever that I've decided on planning a trip for. And I'm not even in the US.
Marc-André Demers that’s just dumb

He's flirtin' with disaster
Really glad to see Kartvelian (Georgian) flavors appreciated ❤️

Nailed it.
His hairline is running like the people from the Taliban
Smol and cheerful Biff Tannen
"I'll take a pentagram steak." Why were the pentagrams never brought up, haha? Good episode.
Probably something to do with the Moroccan flag
Has to do with that they are in the satanist capital of the world. So many degenerates congregate in D.C. it's not even funny.
Λολ they are satanists
no one else saw the pentagram grill?
Like hazza hazza mentioned it’s likely an homage to the Morrocan flag. 🇲🇦

First dude was a humble meaty James Corden.
Try James Hetfield
Ben got real quiet when Brent lowkey dissed the rub XD
Brent: 'Ben and I discussed this....'
Ben: *sweats profusely*
Ben, are you aware that you have a kid named josh? He’s a mythical chef on Good Mythical Morning.. Can’t wait to see the rekindling. You’re welcome
It's great to see Bob Belcher branch out with this web series.

I love America’s entrepreneurial spirit, places like this are the product of it and the creativity which comes is inspired.
I was so surprised when he mentioned about Armenia. Wasn't expecting to hear about my country in this channel
The pentagram was placed in your honor.
Ben looks like the actual school teacher from the incredibles! Lmfao
4:27 something is trying to come out of the walk-in
Do you think when they choose wardrobe they're like ,"hey maybe it's too much hipster" and then Bret is like "you can never have too much hipster"...
So this is the difference between inspiration and appreciation instead of appropriation. Looks amazing.

As a man who has recently braved the shave I can speak from experience... it is time to lose the baldy long. You'll feel liberated
Jambone0908 totally agree. I love my head bald. He’ll definitely look younger to by getting rid of receding hairline
Such an USA thing to eat a Georgian steak (!) in a "middle eastern" restaurant called maydan... Still, the food looks great
Finally they have returned❤️❤️❤️ you guys are awesome. Love from South Africa
Thanks so much! Happy to be back!
Middle eastern based video with a 9:11 length hmm 🤔 alright I’m all for it

I love when restaurants infuse different cultures into their food. It opens up a completely new cuisine to people that would never normally try it 🥩 🔥

Why does Ben look like Jaime from mythbusters
That haircut. Those glasses. And that mustache. That doesn’t say goofy creepy neighbor at all
