Filipinos grew up with this stuff and Jollibee has now opened up restaurants around the world where there are significant Filipino population and the company itself is now the biggest Asian restaurant company and is planning/or in the process of buying up other popular Asian brands (Din Tai Fung, Tim Ho Wan). Whenever a new out of country location opens up, Filipinos line up the night before just to have a taste of home (most recently in London where people waited in line for up to 18hrs). So yeah, it's a source of pride and nostalgia for us =)

Take a look around the store: the murals (more on family-themed). They can't use the term "happy" 'cos Mcdonald's already got this with their Happy Meal :)
McDonald's is called McDo (makdo) by Filipinos. Jollibee is their number one competitor. But in the Philippines Jollibee is leading not only in taste of food but also the number of branches. Jollibee has more than 1,000 branches excluding the overseas branches while McDonald's Phils has more than 500 branches. Their competition is really a tough one. When Jollibee sets its branch, McDonald's will also set it in the same area either in front or near of it. Likewise, when McDo builds its branch, Jollibee will also set up its branch near the area. During store opening, McDo will set up a sound system that is very loud facing Jollibee and on the other hand Jollibe will do the same thing... When you see how they compete, it's so funny... The Philippines is the only country where McDonald's can't keep up with it's main local competitor, which is Jollibee. McDonald's actually sort of copies Jollibee's offering, menu-wise. That's a piece of trivia for you.
Probably one of the reason why mcdo couldnt keep up or didnt keep up is because mcdo franchise here offers junk burgers. Kung yun taste at quality ng US burgers ang binebenta ng mcdo dito - ewan ko lang kung makabenta pa ng burger ang jollibee. But i have to give hats off to chickenjoy but recently jollibee modified the recipe. A far cry from the old chickenjoy glorious taste in the 80s.
Truth, before magopen ng branch ung mcdo dito sa philippines the owner went to the US to benchmark mcdonalds so before pa magclick ung mcdonalds meron nang jollibee na nauna, you can search it, we did our research on it when i was in school. I'm not against jollibee cause i grew up eating jollibee and i love jollibee, he's so cute especially when he dances.
I was born and lived in the Philippines for 6 years until I moved to the U.S and never in those 6 years have I had McDonald’s in the Philippines. I’ve always had Jollibee and it never disappoints😂 love your channel btw💓.
Both McDonalds and jollibee are rivals here... both are popular actually but since jollibee is a filipino food it has more edge here. Buns are steamed especially the hotdog. You shouldve tried the aloha burger which is their prime burger as well as the peach mango pie for the sweet ending. Nice honest review though. Good luck on next journey.
Just subscribed to your channel very recently and am happy how you guys were enjoying your stay here in the Philippines. Anyway, this comment is for this episode. Jollibee is famous here because it’s kinda cheaper, it came first before McDonald’s, and it blends western style with filipino taste (for example the sweet spaghetti). You should have dipped the chicken with the gravy (and yes it is delicious ☺️). And to answer your question about the yellow sauce on the hotdog, it’s mustard (which is again a little bit sweet rather than the regular sour). Here’s my quick personal pref picks between the 2 chains: Fried Chicken - Jollibee Hotdog - Jollibee Spaghetti - Jollibee French Fries - McDonald’s Burgers - McDonald’s Ice Creams - McDonald’s Anyway hope this helps if you ever want to go back here and decide to eat. Take care guys, keep posting! 😊
Depends on the mood, actually. There are some foods in Jollibee that I prefer over McDonalds, and there are foods in McDonalds that I prefer over Jollibee. For example, I love how the McDonalds cheeseburger have pickles. I also love their fries. I like Jollibee's hotdog and chicken, though.
Hi,its nice to hear you liked the taste of our famous local fast food chain in the Philippines. Jollibee cannot be compared by macdonals in terms of where they came from but its the only filipino food chain who lasted up to this generation in the Philippines and who adopted the western food lifestyle.Try our Mang Inasal too (native chicken). Awesom Vlog guys, hope to see more.
I don't know what McDonald's tastes like in the West, but here in the Philippines, McDonald's chicken are really, really dry. You should try Philippine McDonald's sometime while you're still here, to see what I mean. That's why I prefer Jollibee over McDonald's. McDonald's PH does have something called "McSpicy" though; it's a burger with spicy chicken cutlets -- for some reason, their chicken in this particular dish is quite moist, but it's the only moist chicken in their entire menu, everything else feels like cardboard. Also, McDonald's burgers here are probably not comparable to what you'd get in the UK or the USA -- our McD's burgers are quite similar to Jollibee's.
to be fair,i've never had any dry mcdonalds chicken anywhere in the philippines. all the chickens i've had at any mcdonalds i've been through are just as juicy as jollibee's.
hello again beautiful people, i wanted to comment on why we filipino chose jollibee over mcdonald (on my own opinion) is that jollibee focuses mainly on the FILIPINO TASTE (panlasang pinoy) and serves meal that fits the taste of filipino (like PALABOK), thats why we patriotize jollibee.. Mcdonalds and jollibee i think are rivals here..
You can't be here in the Phil without tasting our Jollibee! Try spicy chicken, aloha burger, palabok fiesta, peach mango pie and halo halo. Enjoy guys 😊
Hi guys I enjoy watching your video, you can find a jolibee in London ,they just open it there a few months ago.I'm a Filipina but I live in Switzerlsnd since 1982,and we go to London very often to visit my daughter .I'm a new subscriber.Greetings from Zurich, Switzerland.
The yellow sauce in jollibee hotdog is their version of mustard and for me personally i dont like royal with float, the coke float is very nice and the peach mango pie and chocolate is good also
Hi guys! We go both at jollibee & mcdo. We love those fastfood. It has different taste when it comes to chicken & burgers. But mcdo doesnt have hotdogs. But i love the pancakes of mcdo here in the philippines. Pancakes serves only at morning. I hope you try it. Thank you for coming and enjoying here in the philippines. Mabuhay kayo! ❤️
Mcdo and Jollibee are rivals... The reason why jollibee is so popular bcoz, when we hear the word Jollibee, its means, nostalgia, childhood memories, family bondings at jollibee every payday, memorable birthday parties...jollibee means, happy childhood memories bcoz we have jollibee since childhood and the happiness that we felt whenever we get the collectible toys from every Jollibee Kiddie Meal...
Best way to go to Jollibee is to try it with a local. Lumpiang shanghai (springrolls) are dipped in sweet and sour souce. Makes a difference with the sauce. And peach mango pie, and palabok should be tried as well!
To answer you question about the yellow hotdog sauce, I think that is a mix of mayonnaise and mustard. Not so sure, but that is what it taste like to me.
I am from Puerto Princesa. And I am immensely sorry for your experience about the tricycle driver asking you for way too much for such a short ride. It is embarassing for locals to do that to tourists. But I hope that experience did not tarnish all the great memories you had here. 😊
Yes. There will always be 1 rotten scoundrel that will tarnish the good memories. But considering the Phils is a 3rd world economy, there will always be someone trying to earn a quick buck from tourists. It's the sad truth, a bitter pill we have to swallow cos to earn enough to put food in the table is a daily struggle for locals, hope you understand the situation but i am hoping it has not tarnished in any way your love for our country.
Aloha burger??? that is new... that burger is famous in the Jolibee US, but I rather eat the CHAMP burger which is their original burger. In UK, your full monty English breakfast is the best!
In terms of burger and fries, McDonald's is far better than Jollibee. Some students also prefered McDonald's because of their budget meals (Chicken Fillet/Ala King) and their floats. But in terms of chicken, nothing beats Jollibee but sad to say their portions are quite small (than KFC). But taste and their spicy chicken is undeniably good. And KFC? Hmm.. maybe because their gravy is unlimited? Lol.
The yellow sauce in the hotdog is jollibee's version of honey mustard, and as i recall more than 20 years ago, jollibee started having some products same with macdonald but having their version that catch the taste of the filipinos and the service is faster ,because way back then the service in macdonalds is a little bit slacky. thats how it started as i remembered ♥
The sauce in the hotdog sandwich is mustard i think.. Jollibee reminds the Filipinos of their childhood and home, and the taste is so filipino! Sweet spaghetti and all. :)
300 pesos for a 30 seconds ride is not right.. usually it will only cost you for a bout 30 pesos or less for 2 people. So sorry if you've experienced that.. Hope it won't happen again
I just eat Jollibee sphagetti, and chicken this afternoon.. its no longer same taste as before.. And TLC yum burger ..the bread is no longer the same its like a 3 days bread .. the chicken is no longer crunchy.. and the noodles of sphagetti is like overcooked ...some branch doesnt serve and maintain the standard of jollibee..
Yes! you miss to order the Peach Mango Pie, that's one of the favorite Pie customers are ordering, try it next time and you'll love it, and also try the Pineapple Juice.
we go to both. Mcdo here in philippines is different. They have chicken ala king & fries they have different kinds with there is shake shake fries with flavors of powder like homey butter or barbeque or cheese & occasssionally they also seasonal serve twister fries. Nuggets here added different dips like tomayo curry sauces & cheese sauces
My mom and sister loves McDonalds. My kids and I like Jolibee. I guess because it’s been awhile since I had Jolibee and we just recently had it here in Toronto that is now a novelty
You guys would be surprised coming home to UK since they now have Jollibee there. It was not long ago they opened it actually, I think it's more than 2-3 weeks now. I hope you'll visit the place and make a video of it to share of what you think it the food there and in compared to the Philippines. 🙂
being a filipino i think the reason we favor jollibee or jobee/jabi more aside from local taste is because it has become a tradition especially for average families. it became a parent's promise when you do good in school and the likes it became a reward for every growing kid here in the philippines. "anak galingan mo sa school pag pasado ka mag-jollibee tayo." (do well in school if you do we'll go to jollibee) 😊
for me, i like.. mcdonalds - burger jollibee - fried chicken w/ their gravy ( the trick is to eat the meat first and save the skin last.) kfc - also for fried chicken but not all country have a gravy like the fastfood in the Philippines. if you wanna know how good jollibee is, go to the opening of a jollibee fast food in other countries and see how filipinos who grew up in the Philippines love it.

I very rarely eat in jollybee or Macdonalds I eat in Rai Rai Ken Japanese restaurant it’s a different world altogether it’s actually healthy food
You were ripped off by the trike driver you should not have paid more than 20 pesos for that short ride
Jollibee in London.
👌😁✌
A newly opened Jollibee is at Ear's Court Road, London SW5! another will soon open in Victoria!
really
The brown sauce is gravy, a sauce for fried chicken. The orange sauce is a sweet n sour sauce is for lumpia shanghai(roll)..u can ask a catsup sauce at d counter for ur burger, french fries or hotdog.. when u eat a palabok or spaghetti, mix well before u eat..enjoy eating guys.love to watch ur vblog..from Davao City..
Both are famous. But Jollibee fits the Filipino taste and gives more of the aura of the Filipino culture. 😊😊
Thanks for watching!
The presentation of their meals are so fancy and pretty!
@@leluthor5357 80's were good. Fun times.
True yung ibang menu ng jollibee ginagaya ng mcdo hahaha
Baliktad kayo! Jollibee ang kumokopya sa McDo!
"a school canteen cheeseburger, a really kinda cheap burger" this one just made my day ahahaha
LoL same for me I had that laugh
Love all your videos!! Keep it up!!
Thanks for watching!
@@TheJuicyVlog actually jollibee owns the competition in the fast food market in the philippines 😉
Here’s my quick personal pref picks between the 2 chains:
Fried Chicken - Jollibee
Hotdog - Jollibee
Spaghetti - Jollibee
French Fries - McDonald’s
Burgers - McDonald’s
Ice Creams - McDonald’s
Anyway hope this helps if you ever want to go back here and decide to eat.
Wow thank you for the information!
to be fair,i've never had any dry mcdonalds chicken anywhere in the philippines. all the chickens i've had at any mcdonalds i've been through are just as juicy as jollibee's.
McDonalds doesn't have chicken in their menu in Canada and the US. KFC & Popeyes are the chains to go to for chicken.
Its dry also her in Malaysia i miss our country pride jollibee
I just love how u react to Filipino food, be safe guys!
The yellow sauce is like mustard, kinda.. we call it HD dressing, a special dressing made only for jollibee.
Thanks for watching!
HD? Honey Dijon Mustard?
No.. Just HotDog dressing 😅
Wait... That's seriously what they called it....?
that's some High Definition sauce right there
Glad to know you like the spaghetti, jollibee just open last october in earls court, london and we queue for hours. All the best😛
hello again beautiful people, i wanted to comment on why we filipino chose jollibee over mcdonald (on my own opinion) is that jollibee focuses mainly on the FILIPINO TASTE (panlasang pinoy) and serves meal that fits the taste of filipino (like PALABOK), thats why we patriotize jollibee.. Mcdonalds and jollibee i think are rivals here..
no.1 in the Philippines Juicy Vlog ... everywhere in the world now has it... of course for Filipino.
You can't be here in the Phil without tasting our Jollibee! Try spicy chicken, aloha burger, palabok fiesta, peach mango pie and halo halo. Enjoy guys 😊
That peach mango pie sounds amazing!
Im filipina living in UK and im sooooo excited that JOLLIBEE in London is open😍😍😍😍.. cant wait to eat jolly spaghetti again🥰🥰🥰
Wait til you're back in UK. They recently opened a Jollibee in London 😁
I enjoy watching your vlogs. Hope you had a wonderful stay in the Philippines. Maraming salamat 😍 Ingat kayo 😀😀😀
Jollibee is no.1 in the Philippines because it catches Filipino taste. You should have gotten Aloha Burger, Peach Mango Pie, and Sundaes!
Beg to disagree on sundaes though. Try mo kfc kreamery and you will never go back to jb and even mcdo again
They got Aloha Burger, but from the video it doesn't look good. It's so different from Aloha Burgers in other branches.
Hi guys I enjoy watching your video, you can find a jolibee in London ,they just open it there a few months ago.I'm a Filipina but I live in Switzerlsnd since 1982,and we go to London very often to visit my daughter .I'm a new subscriber.Greetings from Zurich, Switzerland.
now you have jollybee in uk in london just newly opened.
Thanks!
New subbie here! Glad that you liked Jollibee. Hope you’re both enjoying your stay in the Philippines! :)
Jollibee is number 1 fastfood in PH, the yellow sauce is mustard
No it is a dressing
I love your video guys! Keep it up! ❤️
You should try visiting Filipino Malls.
Just discovered ur channel and I’m binge watching your Philippine travel vlogs 😁
The yellow sauce in jollibee hotdog is their version of mustard and for me personally i dont like royal with float, the coke float is very nice and the peach mango pie and chocolate is good also
Thank you!
It's nice to see that you are doing Filipino way of eating using spoon and fork only 😊
that yellow sauce in your hotdog, is mustard.
its not mustard. its cheese sauce
You look so good together! So adorable. ❤❤
the yellow stuff is soggy CHEESE and i love it i mean i live there
Here in Philippines, Jollibee is more famous than Mc Donald here on our country. Why? Because many kids love it and even olders love it 😋👌
Yum!
You guys are lovely! Just watched your cebu mall vlog awhile ago and it was really fun! I'm from Cebu myself and could relate to everything. 😆
for Jollibee burger the best will be something called bacon and cheese the champ
Jollibee is now in London! 😊🐱
Thanks for watching!
Jollibee has been part of every Filipinos childhood favorite fast food chain. Most especially to the 80s & 90s.
I thought it was Peter Mckinnon on the thumbnail lol
haha! i'll take that as a compliment! wish I had his camera gear though!
Best way to go to Jollibee is to try it with a local. Lumpiang shanghai (springrolls) are dipped in sweet and sour souce. Makes a difference with the sauce. And peach mango pie, and palabok should be tried as well!
they are rivals.... mc donald very international taste but jolibee is like home taste for filipino
Lol that hotdog is like the most basic cheap thing but somehow so tasty! I really liked the ones they have in 7/11 with the steamed buns.
Aloha burger??? that is new... that burger is famous in the Jolibee US, but I rather eat the CHAMP burger which is their original burger. In UK, your full monty English breakfast is the best!
We will try the CHAMP next time!!
i used to work in jollibee. what you have in the jolly hotdog is honey-mustard dressing.
Lol.
I think we agree with all of that! Thanks for watching! 😁
The yellow sauce in the hotdog is jollibee's version of honey mustard, and as i recall more than 20 years ago, jollibee started having some products same with macdonald but having their version that catch the taste of the filipinos and the service is faster ,because way back then the service in macdonalds is a little bit slacky. thats how it started as i remembered ♥
jollibee is really filipino taste, mcdonald is more less tasty but love the fries in mconald salty one
They both have good parts don't they :)
The sauce in the hotdog sandwich is mustard i think..
Jollibee reminds the Filipinos of their childhood and home, and the taste is so filipino! Sweet spaghetti and all. :)
I'm filipino and jollibee and mcdo, they're rivals
Longanisa with fried rice and fried eggs was something I remember eating a lot for breakfast.
300 pesos for a 30 seconds ride is not right.. usually it will only cost you for a bout 30 pesos or less for 2 people. So sorry if you've experienced that.. Hope it won't happen again
Exactly! They have been tricked! arghhhhh! Makes me angry and sad at the same time
I love watching food blogs...u guys make me drool :)
Thanks for watching!
Agree with you.
I am happy that foreigners love to eat in jollibee also i am a filipino.
Yes! you miss to order the Peach Mango Pie, that's one of the favorite Pie customers are ordering, try it next time and you'll love it, and also try the Pineapple Juice.
Sounds AMAZING!
Jolliibee is the best!! They need to open one in Orlando Florida.
Enjoy Guys! Philippines is very nice for a holiday . I’m jealous
It was always makes me happy when foreigner like our one of a kind jollibee😊 thank you guys
It's such a coincidence when you're watching a review of Jollibee and all of the sudden a McDonald's ad pops up😂😂😂
we go to both.
I went to the Jollibees in London and they also and no coke. Filipinos must love their coke.
There is a newly opened Jollibee in Earls Court West London and the queue is crazy even weekdays! 😄
"anak galingan mo sa school pag pasado ka mag-jollibee tayo." (do well in school if you do we'll go to jollibee) 😊
for me, i like..
mcdonalds - burger
jollibee - fried chicken w/ their gravy ( the trick is to eat the meat first and save the skin last.)
kfc - also for fried chicken but not all country have a gravy like the fastfood in the Philippines.
if you wanna know how good jollibee is, go to the opening of a jollibee fast food in other countries and see how filipinos who grew up in the Philippines love it.
