      We're so glad you found us! Weddings can be stressful times, so we try to inject a little humor to keep it light. Having fun with flowers is always the goal! It's wonderful that you got to be a part of your friends wedding in such a special way and we're sure that it was beautiful!
      We find that fresh water works best for hydrating flowers and since we cater to mostly diy brides, we don't normally use quick dip. However, we know that a lot of professional florists use it with great success!

    Absolutely Beautiful! I see that the carns were pushed deeper into the arrangement. How do you determine which flowers will be longer and which will be placed deeper down in the arrangement?

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  2 роки тому +3

      I sink some flowers to create dimension in my arrangement, and often it's the less expensive flower like a carnation or cushion flower. However, sometimes I do it based on color. For instance, if the predominant color is burgundy then I would sink in the dusty blush roses while making the burgundy carnations more prominent. Does that help???

    Hi Flower Moxie!!
    We are planning lots of flowers at our wedding (between 22-23 wide and tall centerpieces / 10-12 aisle bouquets / Floral big urns (3x) / Flowers hanging with floral cage on door, etc...
    Of course we would like to get a little early, the wedding being on a Saturday. Do you think starting a few floral foam bouquets on Wednesday is realistic? Even with a finishing spray? The flowers will be good?
    Or do we must start on Thursday? They won't be placed in the fridge because of course we won't have as much room for that amount of flowers.
    Thanks for any advice you can give! ☀☀😍

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  Рік тому +2

      The flowers you're planning on making sound beautiful! We would recommend greening out your large arrangements on Wednesday. Greenery doesn't need as much hydration as flowers do, so to green out everything on Wednesday evening or afternoon will definitely let you get ahead of the game! Continue to check on the hydration of your cages/urns continuously and make sure that they are staying wet and continuing to provide hydration for any blooms, continuing to check even on the morning of the wedding. You don't have to place your flowers in a cooler or fridge, simply keep them in a cool dark area of your home, away from bright sunny windows and heating vents and everything will be totally fine!

    Hi Amy! I think I've watched this video about a dozen times already! I will be making something similar for my daughter's wedding next year, but it will be in a lobby area and visible from all sides. How do I adjust what I need to order to accommodate for that? Any special techniques for greening out something like this and the parameters I should be setting? Or do you have another video that discusses all this? THANKS from MOB (Mother of Bride!)

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  Рік тому +1

      Hey there! For an arrangement that's going to be seen from all sides, think about break the arrangement up into quadrants and working diagonally across the top of the arrangement. Create your shape with your greenery and then begin adding your blooms, same way as we show in the video but work in those smaller quadrants all around so you're achieving the all around look. Also check out our Tall Centerpiece tutorial for some extra guidance!

    How far in advance can you put the arrangements out at the ceremony site? The morning of? Or closer to the ceremony out of the sun?

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Lisa, it depends on how hot it is out there and what flowers you're using! I would say if it's over 85 then you may want to set them out a bit more closure to the ceremony or put them in the shade so the sun isn't beating down.
      Roses, poms, carnations, and greenery are hardy and will hold up. More delicate things like delphinium, stock, hydrangea could struggle.
      Just make sure you have a lot of water in your urn!

  • @caitlinvacanti4163
    @caitlinvacanti4163 3 роки тому +2

    If you make these the day before and have water in the vessel, do you just dump the water out to transfer and then refill it once you get to the venue? Is it sturdy enough to just tip the vessel to empty the water?

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  3 роки тому

      Absolutely! I don't dump it all out, but I definitely tip them and get most of it out. Yes, it's sturdy enough especially if you have your foam taped in....I gently support the flowers as I tip the water out. XOXO

    Noticed you use clippers instead of a knife. Any reason why?

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  2 роки тому

      Hello Janice, a few thoughts on this, and great question, btw!
      - Safety: I'm not a fan of floral knives for safety purposes, and because I cater to DIY couples and new florists I feel it'd be irresponsible to have them bust out a knife during a wedding week. Most florists I know who use knives have a permanent thumb scar and it takes a lot of practice and training to use them correctly. When you're working a wedding, you're pulling your snips in and out of your pocket on the go, so the knife could easily cause some damage.
      - Cleaner Cut: I can freely admit that it's a cleaner cut to use a sharp floral knife and will not pinch the stem the way snips can. Floral knives are sharp as all get out and must be to do the job correctly.
      - Event Florals: There's a different approach with event florals vs a special occasion arrangement. For special occasions, a florist's goal is to make that bouquet last as long as possible so they will typically arrange it with 'green' flowers so they will continue to open, cut stems with a knife underwater, etc. However, for event florals, the goal is not to make them last for a week, but for the flowers to look their very best on the wedding day. Flowers look the best a few days before they expire so a wedding florist is always trying to get her flowers to blow and open. For that reason, the extra steps and techniques are not necessary, in my opinion.
