- Tractor Time with Tim is dismantling our 2014 John Deere 1025R before we trade Johnny off for a newer 2018 JD 1025R. Tim shows how and where he mounted the tool box on a 1025R when you have the backhoe.

Last year you inspired me to finally add a toolbox to my 2305. I bit the bullet for a $63 bracket meant for a 1025R . Stanley, Walmart, and Harbor Freight all have better latching 12.5-13” boxes for under $12 rather than the $62 plain John Deere box. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have been needing something like this toolbox on my 2305. Thanks for the idea. Also, love the safety Sally term 😂
Looking forward to seeing the new one. I just traded up from 1026R to the 2038R and I love it. I needed one a little bit bigger for farm work but still wanted to mow yard with it.
Finally....I've been waiting for how you did that. I have since gone to Home Depot and replaced mine with a bigger tool box. I thought about the 50 cal ammo box some people use, but its too big for my needs. Thanks
Tim the way you mounted the tool box is smart it keeps your tools from rusting from condensation as bad the open hole acts as a vent / drain in the event of moisture staying in the bottom
My toolbox was mounted when I got my 2017 1025R last January, but I don't have the backhoe, so it was just in the stock location. Looks to me like you made a good choice on how to mount it with existing hardware and retain use of it and the cubbyhole Tim!
Keep up the great work you are doing. I will be taking delivery of my first compact a new 2025R next Thursday. Keep up the informative content!
Congratulations!
My tractor came from the factory as a FILB (factory installed loader and backhoe) or TLB (tractor loader backhoe). They changed the acronym somewhere in those years. But mine was mounted on the right side, with the latch facing in. It has to be this way so it's not in the way of the backhoe station. And it seems backwardly mounted, but it has to be that way for the door to open fully and not hit the rops. All in all, I'm happy with how they mounted the tool box on my tractor. I have zero complaints.
Here are the facts. Mounted to the back of the Rops. A 4 1/2" wide sheet flows down and behind the tool box. It is 6" long. then a bend of this 'tongue' flows under the tool case and goes wide under the bucket. The two holes you use was for the 6" down. And the bucket is behind on the right hand side. No digger... :-) you drilled the center one. The two ends are bolts on mine. Glad it was under the arm rest. And turning around looking helps. You are creative. I keep red rag and double hook chain in there - 6' medium power chain. I have four other chains, two monsters. Thanks again. forgot to mention the measurements were by phone app... looks good by the eye.
My new Johnny should be delivered on Saturday. Waiting on the thumb and the wheel weights to come in.- Can’t wait😁. Looking forward to what you do with yours for some ideas👍
My 1026R had a tool box on the back of the ROPs, with a Backhoe. Lights were up as you suggested. I dont mind the plastic.
Nice! I have a similar toolbox on my Kubota, but it's mounted on the back near where yours was apparently supposed to go. I like your mounting solution better.
Can,t wait for new Johnny ,thx for sharing ❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
I must be the only one who likes the "cheap plastic" tool box that came with my 1025R. It is fairly long for a small box, and not so deep that it's hard to find a tool in it. It has held up well for 5 years. I did replace it with an ammo can on my original non-TLB bracket, but not before I bought the TLB bracket so I could mount the original toolbox in the same place as yours. I did have to sand off a burr along the back edge of the lid to keep from being scratched when operating the 3-pt lift lever. You'll have to wait for my first video to learn where my 3rd, 4th, and 5th toolboxes are mounted. 😎
Must be two of us!
Looking forward to seeing the new Jonny
No videos from the He shed yet only in the new garage. Looking forward to see the new Johnny too. I'll be getting a new left knew tomorrow so keep the videos coming so I don't get too bored or I may just show up and you can haul me out to the pond and we can go fishing
Shed is too dark.
We will be praying!
Tim - Mine is behind the seat. You have a unit that might stop it - I have to go to it and see. I think you got the bucket on the back and that would be in the way. I'll check it and see the bracket. Not sure. Mine was a option. Martin
I got mine used with 12 hours on it, with the backhoe, and the box was mounted to the rear with the extra light mounting bracket so that they were higher up. I always wondered about your box location. I like the placement of mine, it is not in the way at all and importantly doesn't get in the way of the OTC cab that I have on for the winter. where you had yours, the cab couldn't fit. I've never needed to access it from the seat, so that isn't an issue at all.
Good video Tim . Keep up the good work!
that is also where JD mounts the tool box when you get the JD bagger attachment.they also supply the brackets to move the rear tail lights. and like Tim i will not move the lights.
Can't wait for new Jonny, but so sad to see old Jonny leave😭
My toolbox came already mounted in this position on delivery.
Good video Tim
You need to keep the original “Johnny”! He built the channel to what it is today.
You had it mounted the same way mine came before you changed it. Mine has always been stuck out the back. I don't like it that way but have never hit anything with it to my surprise.
I’m getting A used 3320r this Thursday with a heavy duty loader , box scraper , post hole digger , brush hog my first tractor can’t wait what are the most common tools you carry and or parts ? I’m so excited and congrats can’t wait to see yours....
Hammer, 2lb. Pliers. Adjustable wrench. Screwdriver, lynch pins, garage door opener :-)
Thanks a lot love the channel !! You ever done Horse arenas if so what do you think is the best way to work their dirt I’m looking at a new Rototiller for my tractor and areana vator I live in a horse property neighborhood the local guy they called Tractor Bob moved away so now I’m going to do it will be tractor Spence now now looking forward to it always wanted to be around all the horses you are an inspiration thank you for your knowledge can’t wait to see your new Johnny L for Joni large
Love the videos and the scripture verses at the end. Any ideas about switching sides? I have the Material Collection System on my 1025 and the toolbox is blocked by the tube. Thanks!
I dunno. Might work.
That box looks just big enough for a cheeseburger or two, LOL, better then the cup holder like I have to do for my little yard tractor
Great video
Mine is sideways on the back. I have a 2017 1025 .the first day I picked it up I took that cheap toolbox off and gave it to my grandkids. I replaced it with a ammo box.
The sideways mounting is only on the models without a backhoe.
That was fun. What’s up with the geothermal? Still freezing?
Have SOME heat. Will update you next week
i have a 1925r compact Johnny and i have a 1154 frontier snow blower with a mouser cab on m y1025r Johnny could you do a show on installing a electric motor on the chute for rotation by using a electric motor out of a electric car window or electric motor off a car seat
Great video!
Definitely missing the additional brackets to elevate the light housings! The non backhoe units are mounted on the back of the ROPS verses the factory backhoe setup mounts directly below the right side lights using 2 u-bolts
Good video tim and in a few days comes the new big Johnny 👍
Same size Johnny
@@TractorTimewithTim yes sorry 1025 new model 🤗
I still think a 2025 with a 60" deck would be better scents you are on a farm now.
I'll be getting my New Johnny in a couple Days. They are hooking up the Hyd. for the 4 in 1 Bucket now.
WooHoo! Congratulations!
Thx, IM getting the TLB, and Box Blade. With the New Frontier 4 in 1 Bucket can't wait to get to work. Ive watched all of your videos and made my choice because of your input, and my mechanical background. Keep up the Great work with your channel. :-))
Good stuff enjoyed that!!
I brought my tractor second hand and it came with a factory tool box. My tractor is a JD 2140 which i think was manufactured between 1980 to 1982. But having owned it now for 4 years the tool box has fallen off.
I pulled my tool box completely off my 2013 1025r just got in my way
my tool box came mounted on my 2018, I was plowing around the house and took it out on the corner.. its in a different position on the 2018, and the lights are higher
Tool box is dandy, but did you get heat in your house yet? Thanks for sharing
Sorta, but not really. We’ll update you next week. The story remains ‘interesting ‘
Tim looks deer hassame problem as all manufacturers
God Bless
PaK
Tim, I am having the darndest time finding the bracket you show in the video. I need to do this, but I cannot find the part on the JD parts websites. Do you know the JD part number? I appreciate it!
I do not. Sorry. Maybe under the older 1025r ???
@@TractorTimewithTim LVU23945
Never got a tool box, did get a large glove box on left side
Ii hope Johnnys' new dad treats him nice
I'm starting to get a complex. 😀
Did I mention ‘your kind’ in this video? I can’t even remember!!!
Actually, I can’t even put you in that category anymore.
Old Johnny up for sale yet?
Tim, I've been wondering if you were a teacher previously? As a job I mean, I can learn something from almost anyone, but the way you speak and show and all, it seems like you've either had training or experience, or got enough of it along the way to be good at it. I can't teach squat, I can show people stuff, but teach em, uhnt uh. ain't happening.
No formal teaching experience. I just talk through what comes to my mind. Dunno.
My tool box came mounted, 2/3rds of it projects from the rear of the of the tractor allowing access to the cubby hole. It is also mounted lower, almost touching the cubby molding. It is mounted with the latch facing the tractor. I’ve got the 2017 1025R FILB from Reynolds JD in Atlanta.
My light kit is mounted higher as well, with the top bracket ending where the rollbar folds.
Appreciate the vids. Wonder if you have any suggestions for paint chipping on the plastic hood. Not sure standard JD green spray paint will adhere properly or look right.
No suggestions. Sorry. Didn’t know paint could chip. Didn’t even think it was painted.
Tractor Time with Tim
Yeah I probably wouldn’t call it paint either. Caught a bush just right while mowing and it flaked the finish pretty big in a couple spots. Should probably just follow up at Reynolds
Got tool box on my 2020 2025r. No tools or slow vehicle triangle. Is that normal ?
No tools is normal. I believe you should get a SMV emblem, but not sure.
Look up the Shorts...Paul n Kathy that is...lol
Uh, I’m aware of Paul and Kathy. What is your point?
Just thought maybe they had a bolt-on...
Mine came with it mounted
Here is where the 2014 shows

Mine came mounted
Tim, how many hours did ‘Johnny #1’ end up with?
397
Bet they were enjoyable! Looking forward to some vids on ‘Johnny #2’ Hope it brings you the pleasure that #1 brought you!
Second video in which my eye keeps getting drawn to that fishing pole sticking up back there. :)
I need to get some fish, David!
Tim I couldn't read the scripture in the color that it was in. Also I have trouble reading letters in red.
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail, they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
I hope to soemday get a 1025r
Tell good works tractor you want the chrome hood ornament that is missing :-)
Any thoughts on replacing old johny with a 2025r now that youve used one?
Also the standard (non backhoe) toolbox is mounted off the back as seen here i.imgur.com/jbUTYUE.jpg
I’ve since removed mine and replaced it with a sxs cab mount carry all but will probably be remounting fwd now
Sticking with 1025r
A new Johnny Tim? What's next a new Katriel or Christy....uh boy
Did you miss our earlier announcement video?
@@TractorTimewithTim I must have , sorry Tim... Over 60 and have early CRS Can't Remember Shoot!
I watch and enjoy all your videos but they could use a short intro or delay before you start talking. sometimes its hard to catch those first words.
Good point. Thx
The new garage has a terrible ECHO Echo
echo.
That may go away when he gets moved in. It just sounds empty.
First 👍👍 👍👍 👍👍 👍👍 👍
I think your problem is you bought from muttons! Lol. Mine came mounted to the rear of the rops. I don't have the backhoe attachment though
The backhoe is what changes everything.
I don't doubt that.
And with in a week it broke of cause its cheap china plastic
Whatever. It is 4+ yrs old and doing fine
