That’s the most stand up judge. So many people don’t understand $100 to a Vietnam vet who’s probably got tons of health issues and just has social security 100 bucks can keep him from keeping his power on. Good on you judge!

There should be free parking anywhere near a veterans hospital for vets, the city has no feelings.

April, you are EXACTLY RIGHT!! Veterans have enough to worry about when it comes to the medical treatment they are entitled to but to have to worry about parking is totally ridiculous.
      God Bless ALL Veterans!!!

I 'm a patient at the Providence VA Hospital- there IS parking there, even valet perking, but the amount of free spaces is limited at best, and the the waiting line for valet parking is usually at least a half hour long. I don't do valet parking myself (don't want anyone driving my car), but I have spent 45 minutes or more driving around the various lots looking for an open space. On one occasion, I called my Dr.'s office from my car and rescheduled that morning's appointment because I was frustrated and sick of searching for a parking space.

@@LindaB651 WOW Linda! I feel so bad for you my friend, my uncle spent 22yrs in the Army and is a Vietnam veteran, 2 purple hearts. He passed in 2014 ,the agent Orange finally caught up with him but he had govt insurance but he also bought his own private insurance. He always told me he didn't want to rely on the govt medical to take care of him, so he choose to see his own doctor outside of the VA, and was very satisfied with the medical treatment from an outside doctor. I didn't know if you could do it that way or if you could now use outside doctors since the president freed that up for veterans. Idk, just asking. Thanks, Jay.

@@silvergrizzly316 Sorry about your uncle! Overall, I'm really happy with the VA healthcare system. The Veteran's Choice Program only applies to services that are not provided by VA Health in one's area, or cannot be provided in a timely manner. I have been satisfied recipient of the Veteran's Choice Program benefits since I was accepted at the VA in 2015.

We need more people like this judge in our world. The ability to look at the bigger picture and make a logical decision for the betterment of society is a judge’s job and he does this perfectly. The laws aren’t there to punish people... they’re there to serve as a guideline for a healthy society. It’s not about letting people off the hook... it’s about doing what’s right for the individual and the community. Thanks for being such a great example your honor!

Good on the judge for compassion for the veteran and knowing his community (He knows about the insufficient parking at that facility). As a retired disabled veteran who uses the services by the VA I understand his situation. Most VA facilities have enough parking, but some are woefully insufficient. Some cities really try to sock it to you with their parking tickets. The judge saw this and cut the guy a break. And yes they should make sure there is enough parking for everyone who needs to go to the VA and get care!

Just a thought; why when getting your license are Veterans not given a sticker for their windshield allowing them free parking in certain areas near VA Hospitals?

You call yourself a Dr and you call that woman a whale? Dr of what? Stupidity? You have no idea why that woman is overweight! We treat patients that deal with weight problems... Some who have liver dysfunction issues due to the meds that they have been on for so many years of their life... Then there's the patients that have had trauma in their lives and they eat just to get through the day... Those patients have to heal their trauma before they can even think of losing weight. The list goes on! You have no idea why this person is big, just like we have no idea why you're so little. If you want to be respected as a Dr, then you need to act accordingly!! Otherwise I call B.S. on you actually being a DR!!!!
