  • The mainstream Japanese manufacturers are just dipping their toes into the Electric Motorcycle scene, but nothing that they offer can match a 2018 Zero SR. Is that a problem? Check out this bike for yourself at Macleans Sports here: macleanssports...

I don't have a good use case for an electric bike, but listened to the end because I knew I'd learn things, which I did. Thanks.

2018, the Zero brand I was wondering about. Nice e-bike. Thanks for covering it here. I still have my old Motorcycle Buyer's Guide magazines with this in it way back in 2013, etc. When batteries are able to recharge in less than 1 hour and can go a range of 500 miles up to 120 mph if needed, that will be a great time for electric vehicles.

Belt drive this has. I spray my bike's chain every time back, and on my prior Ninja 250R, it went from 0 miles to 36,000+ miles over 15 years on only the factory installed chain, with no maintenance, so I think the advantage goes with a metal chain over a belt chain which can warp and crack over time potentially faster than metal. True? I'd be interested to hear from riders who have belt power to turn the rear wheel, and if any issues over the life time of a bike.

Yeah, a capable electric motorcycle that's easy to drive, and quick! I enjoy this bike. It's not for everyone, but it's a lot closer than what you can get from the mainstream Japanese bikes these days.

@PeterLoweOne it looks fun and i definitely wanted to see you ride it. On the other side though Pete that charging time is an instant deal breaker. With those speeds one might consider buying a suron or another regular electric bicycle and im not trying to be shady when i say that. Another thing by special request. Can you please 🙏 review the cfmoto clx700??? And please let me know as much as possible how reliable it is and how you think it stacks against the mt07. Oh yeah and quiet sounds nice but man i saw a guy blazing on the highway and all i could think was he is so swift and quiet a bike with an engine would atleast let persons know he was there so that part may be a good thing depending on where and how you ride as you mentioned

Zero customer support is horrendous, taking from a huge collective of customers complaints on threads and post and tbh I believe it cus it’s set up to be believed. 1. No right to repair . 2. Must go through dealer . 3. Dealer must go through zero 4. Which equal long wait times period . Never forgot one comment “ yeah they are fun , when they work “ you having issues with your bike with change and outweigh all the fun of it .. and I noticed those who love the bike unconditionally are the only who typically never had issues , they just do really maintenance like brakes.. so zero is a hit or miss you can get a new bike that’s a lemon or you can get the best bike ever . Best to buy them use for this reason and the real value is ludicrous cheap, 2020 sf u can get for 7-10k easily with 1k miles etc a 4 year old bike that cost 20k 😂😂

I just picked up a 2016 Zero SR (modified) and this was an excellent video to learn about the features this generation of Zero motorcycle has. The battery on mine is going strong with about 10,000 miles on the odometer with 100 miles of range for average driving.

I m thinking of buying a 2016 model zero SR..the guy say it's driven just 2000km ...what do you say, should I go for it?

@@deathadd yes, I like the 2016 model. You can connect your phone with bluetooth and get more information on the battery.

Zero has been around for a hot minute. Was looking at them a few days ago. East maintenance. Imagine if it was shaft driven!

Shaft drive adds weight and loses efficiency. I think that's why they use the belt. People want maximum range on an EV motorcycle before they want things like shaft drive (in general)

@@PeterLoweOne i agree but man…once ev fixes their whole efficiency thing…shaft would be pretty cool on something like a tourer ev with 300-400 miles of range!
