FINA rules for butterfly stroke do not specify that it needs to be a continuous stroke. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_stroke SW 8.1 From the beginning of the first arm stroke after the start and each turn, the body shall be kept on the breast. Under water kicking on the side is allowed. It is not permitted to roll onto the back at any time. SW 8.2 Both arms shall be brought forward together over the water and brought backward simultaneously throughout the race, subject to SW 8.5. SW 8.3 All up and down movements of the legs must be simultaneous. The legs or the feet need not be on the same level, but they shall not alternate in relation to each other. A breaststroke kicking movement is not permitted. SW 8.4 At each turn and at the finish of the race, the touch shall be made with both hands simultaneously, at, above or below the water surface. SW 8.5 At the start and at turns, a swimmer is permitted one or more leg kicks and one arm pull under the water, which must bring him to the surface. It shall be permissible for a swimmer to be completely submerged for a distance of not more than 15 metres after the start and after each turn. By that point, the head must have broken the surface. The swimmer must remain on the surface until the next turn or finish.[16]
hello Parker, are you a swimming instructor? you might give us some insight on why you think its not legal. if i could just understand how that technique is done i'd use it in 100 and 200 yard butterfly
I think you're right. Most swimmers doing butterfly kick down right before they bring their hands out for the next stroke. He down kicks during the front part of his pull.
nah he can't be fully submerged at any point after the first 15 of each turn, his gliding technique forces him to fully submerged at some point each cycle
SwimStrength the commentator is Akira Hayashi the legendary Japanese breaststroker, he says “this is not the 1st time he got disqualified due to the way he swims” He continues “I’m so disappointed...” I think he also likes his unique technique
From the Fina rulebook, the only rule I think could be the cause of a DQ: 'At the start and at turns, a swimmer is permitted one or more leg kicks and one arm pull under the water, which must bring him to the surface. It shall be permissible for a swimmer to be completely submerged for a distance of not more than 15 metres after the start and after each turn. By that point, the head must have broken the surface. The swimmer must remain on the surface until the next turn or finish.' You could say he does not remain on the surface... As this rule is very much up for interpretation, I personally don't think this should be a DQ, but the jury does have a point. Edit: I also see his legs separating perhaps a bit too much..
That looks like it. There is a fraction of time when his body is completely submerged. I guess by body remaining on the surface, it means that at all times, you should have at least one part of your body breaking the surface.
Nothing's wrong with the butterfly in my opinion
I think his DQ is for the time of his stroke, it's not a continue stroke
Atnavoj p point is thats not butterfly

Yeah I think it's because his whole body goes underwater and that's not allowed after your breakout
I thought I was the only one that crossed my legs when doing freestyle.
Futuristic Visionary I do that
There's only one thing worse than being DQ'ed after a 200 butterfly - and that's being DQ'ed after a 400 Medley ... That's gotta hurt!
Thankyou guys for watching.I will giveaway Arena cobra ultra/core goggles if this video gets 500likes,so hit that like button.

He would have won that race if he'd had a faster stroke rate XD
hello, whats the name of that last guy in the video he has got perfect effortless glides i have ever seen.
Emanuel Leipa yuya yajima
It's amazing
They're not glides he's doing a dolphin kick while gliding I'm not sure if it's legal
As I see it, he was kicking his hands in and kicking his hands out. I don't see anything wrong with that.
hello Parker, are you a swimming instructor? you might give us some insight on why you think its not legal.
if i could just understand how that technique is done i'd use it in 100 and 200 yard butterfly
Nel primo video la maggior parte non avrà capito un cazzo... Grande Greg!
Giusto
what about Laszlo Cseh butterfly?
I think the reason why Jared Anderson breathes on his side is because he wants to look at the other swimmers
Can you do a top 3 Nathan Adrian races?
iExcalibur yes, why not;)
03:14 butterfly swimmer do two freestyle kicks, because of that was DQ; the technique was according to Fina rules!
No he is longer than 15m under water because of his technique and that‘s forbidden
I think the problem for the third guys stroke is that some officials may view it as “resubmerging” which can DQ you
Wow the Japanese guy probably lost his chance for Tokyo 2020 due to the DQ!
Tom malchow demonstrated that ideal form isnt quite nescesary
I think its do because needs to be 2kicks each stroke he did 3 kick per stroke watch carefully if you are a swimmer you understand

Nop he kicks only 2 times per stroke, watch the slowmo

The FINA rules for butterfly stroke do not say that you cannot do long glides. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_stroke

Why was the third guy dqed??
Pedro Gomes probably because his full body was under water during the stroke, and I think thats not allowed.
