the translation of the Arabic part of the song goes like this ( Tell me where to go, people are burning in Al-Sahoor time, I feel like I am in another world) ....Al-Sahoor is an Arabic word for the few minutes before the dawn time
Just to let you know the fire department actually made the correct call as per the guidelines of fires in high rise buildings. The apartment itself is supposed to contain the fire so the fire department only needs to put out the fire in just that apartment. However because of the cladding catching fire on the outside it started to spread to other floors and other apartments. The spread of the fire was quite rapid and by the time they had realised half the building was already on fire. They switched to trying to evacuate as many as they could but most people were stuck and were unreachable by the fire department due to the fire becoming too overwhelming. The government tried to deflect blame to the fire department supposedly 'making the wrong call' instead of their deregulation of safety standards and austerity measures cutting the funding of maintenance of the building as well as cutting funding to the fire department itself. There were multiple reports from survivors that the fire extinguishers on all floors had expired by years and none of the fire alarms were tested in years despite being raised by the tenants themselves years before. Also In case you wanted to know the translation of the arabic in the middle: "Tell me where to go, There are people burning in the early morning, I feel like I'm in a different world, I feel like I'm in a different world" Then repeated again
In his Fire In The Booth Part 2 "Save pennies on the block drop 20 million on the opera" he is actually referencing this in a way as well because the Queen also spent something like 100mil renovating buckingham palace during the period before Grenfell.
Finally someone who has done their research before reacting this. Too many just take it as "an unfortunate incident". I recommend the second part also, ghosts of grenfell 2.
Lads love these reaction look forward to more! Thanks for doing lowkey reactions to, especially these ones with real meaning 🙏🏾 big love from bradford 🙏🏾
You need to react to one of his uplifting tunes, try ‘The return of Lowkey’. His latest ‘daily duppy’ is good but still pointing out home truths. Not sad like ‘Ghosts of Grenfell ‘1’ & ‘2’. And ‘Ahmed’ though.
Just for context the names being spoken at the end are being spoken by friends/family, the names lowkey spoke had nobody left to speak for them
“Why isn’t the government fixing it?” The million dollar question mate 😞
