See this is why American public schools should teach foreign languages at elementary not until middle school and high school, because by then, English is so processed into your brain that learning a foreign language is difficult
EXO L Not only that, people tend to make fun of the pronunciations and not do them right. But I agree, my dad put my sisters and I in a French program as a kid and now taking it for sophomore year.
Their Mandarin is much better than most Chinese because they learned proper pinyin from the beginning as opposed to by ear which usually has dialect influences.
I know what you mean. I hope that one day I can bring a new language to my family if I ever have one (not sure I’ll find someone who’ll like me enough to be honest). Not sure how, but I will do it.
This is like when people learn RP in English, and it is assumed to be “proper” English, and everyone around the world from Texas to Singapore would probably strongly disagree.
Mitchell Lee same here. I spent mostly speak, to my parents using dialects, Hakka for my mother's side and Cantonese with my father's. Since a majority of the people living here speak Hokkien, we get used to speaking that outside so the only time I really get to speak Chinese is at school where dialects are against the rules 😂
You are smart. You realize your shortcoming. And willing to take corrective actions. Unlike many illegal aliens who are mostly Latinos, crossed over to US, don't want to learn English, refused to learn English, remain uneducated and don't bother to realize their shortcomings. And the US blames China for economic failures -not illegal aliens who are uneducated, low skill labor and refuse to even learn English, not to mention learn Chinese to compete with China. Sad. 👎👎😌😌😌 FYI, to learn Chinese the fastest and easiest way, use "HelloChinese" app in your smart phone. It 's interactive learning.
You know why their Chinese is this good? I just realized at the end when the younger one sings and surprises her father. They probably spend more than 50% of their time with a Chinese nanny, aside from learning Chinese, so they’re essentially Chinese children lol
@@sheteg1 their pronunciation is very precise which is good obviously but it comes off very tv presenter-like, imagine an 8 year old speaking english like a cnn reporter
Jim, Wonderful work. It is truly nice to hear and see what you do..The life is beautiful and very much rewarding if properly directed. Wishing you and your family all the best.
Must be very proud of them. I would. Very intelligent with foresight to let them learn the right language from an economic power house. Respect to u Sir. Learning extra language is knowledge gain. It open another door.
Very awe inspiring. 1st these kids needed an open mind, a good attitude to learn chinese. 2nd, communication is the key to success. We need more of this. Very excellent chinese.
I was lucky enough to have personally met Jim Rogers thru a friend and both Happy and Little Bee goes to the local Singaporean schools thus their Chinese is amazing and even prior to Jim’s move to Singapore Jim hired a chinese nanny. Jim’s daughters also attends many Chinese speech competitions. Their Dad is very proud of his daughters.
I actually met Happy Rogers back when she used to study in my old primary school...we had a school fair and I remember her playing games at my booth and I gave her candies. she was 7 I think (I was 12 back then) It's amazing to see how much she's grown!
Their mandarin is extremely impressive. They will have very high salaries as they mature, their I.Q's are beyond most people, even in their early stages. I would love to see how many Chinese characters they understand.
I worked with Bee Rogers for a musical and she is a nice little girl... well I thought 小蜜蜂 was a little cute nickname the makeup artist gave her But I didn't know that was her original chinese name... She is a very kind and humble little girl... well done Bee.
The kids have a Chinese-speaking nanny, are sent to a Chinese-medium school, and are surrounded by a Chinese-speaking community. Children usually adopt the language of the wider community, anyway. I am not exactly sure what the Chinese-medium schools in Singapore is like or whether that is even the norm. I have read claims on Quora saying that Chinese language education in Singapore is like any other foreign language program, not really an immersion school/program. Many Singaporeans, including Chinese Singaporeans, actually become quite dominant in English, because they do attend an English-medium secondary school, where all the courses are taught in English. It takes real diligent effort to be perfectly bilingual at higher levels of communication (aka professional bilingualism).
Why is this amazing ? Are we amazing as Asian people who speak fluent English ? Lol Same thing. I admire their parents for providing them with the opportunity ... They grew up in a country where a lot of people still speak mandarin... not surprising... it’s just normal lol
Poemi10304 They live in Singapore ... a place where mandarin is spoken quite a lot. So many people in this world fluently speak a language that isn’t corespondent to their ethnicity. It is not amazing as it is 2018. It’s the same as all the Asian Americans, Latino Americans who grew up in America and speak English or any Caucasian person who grew up in Asia speaking an Asian language! Wow... lol
maybe because it just seems normal to see all different ethnicities speaking English.. since America is made up of all ethnicities and we speak English here.. but in China you mostly see Asian people so when you are not Asian and you speak mandarin than it seems more impressive... I totally get what you are saying though.
Lol any ethnicity speaking any language is normal when they started young and put the work in. I don’t know. What you have said is probably a lot to do with it and that’s like saying it depends what people have seen. I know so many Caucasians who speak fluent Asian and can read and write and learnt as adults! THAT is amazing . This is just well.. “well done for being mixed and knowing a language that you have learnt from a young age like everyone else” hahaha
and to an English speaker's ear, Mandarin sounds reallyyyy different from English. I don't know how to explain it but when I hear languages like Italian, Spanish and French they feel more manageable or recognizable (idk, I can't find the right word).. but languages like Mandarin and Japanese just seems so foreign to English speakers.. which makes sense since Italian, Spanish and French derive from Latin, which English essentially has too and we even have some French words. You get what I'm saying? Sorry, I feel like I'm not explaining myself clearly. Do people who speak Mandarin as their first language feel the same way about English? Like it sounds so different and foreign? And that Japanese sounds easier?
this is goddamn insanity. when that little girl opened her mouth near the end there and belted out the song of my people, i nearly broke down and cried. its surreal. ive never seen white kids with such perfect mandarin. its native level perfect. hats off to Jim rogers, he got himself there a fine good investment. two beautiful white girls that speak perfect mandarin?!@ this is the future. that little girls perfect enunciation of the lyrics to that old folk song transformed her into a middle aged chinese woman plowing the fields out there in the countryside under a scorching sun.
I'm Chinese. born and raised. I say their Mandarin.especially the older sister's Mandarin is even more standard than mine. and I'm from northern China.😁
These two Rogers girls remind me of the two youngest Von Trapp girls. Especially the youngest one; her mannerisms are so reminiscent of Heather Menzies’ in the Sound of Music.
See this is why American public schools should teach foreign languages at elementary not until middle school and high school, because by then, English is so processed into your brain that learning a foreign language is difficult

They do, in high school you have take Spanish or French to be able to graduate
Ive been in french classes since kindergarten and I am so bad still, I do understand basic french.
Jhopes big sunshine smile makes my heart hurt
Or Japanese
I learn Chinese in school
The elder one looks so elegant and the younger one looks so cuteeeeeeee
That's what happens, when parents do the parenting. Jim definitely isn't a typical American. Very smart guy. His girls are the result of himself.
they can be your translator during a business meeting in China, Jim....
being able to speak chinese is also an investment in the future..
Jim Rodger is truly smart investor
I like how they even mimic the gestures and mannerisms. So cute.
Their Mandarin is much better than most Chinese because they learned proper pinyin from the beginning as opposed to by ear which usually has dialect influences.
lol no idea what the heck you talking about
I know what you mean. I hope that one day I can bring a new language to my family if I ever have one (not sure I’ll find someone who’ll like me enough to be honest). Not sure how, but I will do it.
sammy50001 much more?
They speak standard is what he means. Don’t be offended it’s true haha.
This is like when people learn RP in English, and it is assumed to be “proper” English, and everyone around the world from Texas to Singapore would probably strongly disagree.
As a Chinese I must to say their accent is more standard than me, just like a news anchor.
More fluent than a lot of native Chinese.. in terms of the accent - very standard northern accent .. absolutely amazing and impressive
Immersion
He looks old enough to be there grandpa... :0
My dad is 77 yet i'm 16, i'm in the same boat mao
yes he married quite old and his wife is youngish and beautiful like the older girl. I think he lives in singapore now. or one of his homes
Jiminimized my dad is turning 80 this year and I'm 16 😂
Jiminimized what??
allie jenkins you are kidding right
what wonderful sweet children..with open minded parents. this world would be so much better if we all could be so open and empathetic to all cultures.
Those girls put me in Shame ,I grew up in chinses family I speak only English language. Damn.. I am mad at myself . I will start learn Chinese now.
nigga meant to say start learning.
Mitchell Lee its hard to speak chinese when you dont grow up there. I have to take tuition for reading and writing

You say it but you won't start

They are amazing!!!! They speak so well, especially when she said "對對對", that's so native!!
Their Chinese is very good but I think it would be nice to see them speaking more casually.
Late to ask you this. But is this too posh ?
@@sheteg1 their pronunciation is very precise which is good obviously but it comes off very tv presenter-like, imagine an 8 year old speaking english like a cnn reporter
@@sheteg1 it's like speaking Queens English when you are 10.
When you see kids who dont speak Chinese as their mother language but speak better Chinese than you when Chinese is your mother language😂😂
Angeline lmao true
Thats over the top,
realistically they are just as children no matter the background learn to speak Chinese at very young age
So what was your mother’s language? My mom don’t speak English, but I do!
Ikr I feel guilty
if what you are saying is true, i hope you are not native chinese
中文说得非常好!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Holy cow. Their accent beats 90% native Chinese including me who was 语文课代表 in elementary school.
you must be old, cuz their chinese is good but not that good
不只90%,至少99.9%。有多少人能说这一口播音腔?
Amazing! He looks so proud!
Awesome Rogers family, great parents blessed with beautiful and smart daughters.
The kid sings sooooo good!!!!😱😱😱
Kelly Zhou R-Rapmon?
Jim, Wonderful work. It is truly nice to hear and see what you do..The life is beautiful and very much rewarding if properly directed. Wishing you and your family all the best.
WHAT a wonderful thing to see,,,and such a lovely voice on the little girl. WOW, I loved this video.
Must be very proud of them. I would. Very intelligent with foresight to let them learn the right language from an economic power house. Respect to u Sir. Learning extra language is knowledge gain. It open another door.
I am a chinese and I have to say their mandarin is even better than me. Excellent !
OMG their mandarin is good enough to be news anchor! you have no idea they are foreigners if you don't look at them at all.. Flawless
You see... when the kids from normal family are messing around on the street, the kids from those rich family be like "床前明月光"
Great job dad. I'm impressed.
Very awe inspiring. 1st these kids needed an open mind, a good attitude to learn chinese. 2nd, communication is the key to success. We need more of this. Very excellent chinese.
这口音,会让很多南方人跪了。
Even daddy was surprised when the younger daughter began to sing
The two girl is more precious than Jim Riger's investment portfolios.
Jim must be a very proud father, the girls are so talented ! I'm shocked too when little bee started to sing, amazing!
Amazing Kids, Congrats Mr. Rogers
That little girl sings sooooo well. I dont understand chinese but understand the Music behind it.

I've noticed that they only ever recite the same poem and sing the same song in almost every interview. Do they not know anything else?
Jim, you have no excuses not to learn Chinese, you live in Singapore, you can afford any tutor and you are smart.
Lucky girls. I mean, speaking mandarin is great, but they live in a rich family, thats even greater.
