- Thomas More was executed on Tower Hill on July 6th 1535. His faughter Margaret retrieved his head from the pike Thames. She put it in a casket, keeping it with her until she herself died in 1577.
Margaret was buried in St Dunstan's church in Canterbury England in her husband's family vault, as requested her father's head was lad next to her. In 1597 the Roper vault was enlarged and rebuilt- the casket containing Thomas More's head was moved and placed behind an iron grill in the new vault where it lies to this day behind a locked door. Thomas More was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church in
1935. He is the patron saint of statesmen and politicians.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Music degree from UCLA and a Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College of Music. She and her husband Chris love exploring the world and sharing their passion and love for castles and photography together.

An American Catholic attorney who was divorced against her will, I made a self designed St. Thomas More pilgrimage to acknowledge the depth of his sacrifice for his conscious and sacrifice of the sacrament of someone else’s marriage. I went to St. Dunstan’s and prayed and cried at the alcove of St. Thomas’ head. A sexton from the church could not understand for the life of him why I came 5,000 miles to do that. St. Thomas has always deserved much better.

I am surprised they found a church to house the remains of such a brutal and sadistic torturer.
More was complicit in the trial and execution of those he regarded as heretics during his time in office as Lord Chancellor so to paint him as a martyr of belief is disingenuous.
Not an ounce of my video is painting him as a martyr. I simply told the events as they unfolded.
Henry was horrible here, but the Catholic Church was just as bad, if not worse on multiple occasions. Dying over disagreements over something for which there is no evidence of existence seems like one of the most pointless deaths one could have. You would think if God existed and wanted to be worshipped in a certain way, he would have selected a more clear way of communicating those wishes than a book written by numerous different men over centuries prone to multiple different ways of interpretation and disagreement, brimming with inaccuracies on the functioning of our universe.
Thank you for sharing this. Ive always thought this story was sad and his death pointless. Religion has caused so much misery over the years. The sooner we leave it behind, the sooner humanity can realize its true potential.
