TR8 Front Mount Intercooler Install on a Big Turbo VW MK6 Golf GTI 2010-2014

- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- I'm going to show how I installed a Treadstone TR8 Front Mount Intercooler on my Big Turbo Volkswagen MK6 GTI. I will partially cut the crash bar and make mounting brackets to make it fit. I will also be making some custom intercooler piping. This modification may be applicable to the MK5/MK6 of these years 2010-2014

This is a very well detailed tutorial. Love those wheels!
Much respect 🙏
1st of all, thanks for the video mate. Would u think cutting the crash bar would effect insurance?
Also is this install as effective as also piping in the original intercooler?
Amazing video, love it when people put time in there installs to make a perfect video. So total your cost was around $350 for everything? And I’m thinking of going ko4 and with forums people are saying don’t get arm, nuespeed or other bolt in FMIC so I’m guessing you whent this route so your BT could run better with a better core? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for watching! Yes, the total cost was around $350 and yes, I went with this intercooler because of the efficiency.
Excellent video bruh, I don’t have a Volkswagen but I got the TR8 & this was fun to watch. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Much respect, I'm happy you got value from this install video. Shout out to you and all the Canadian viewers.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey bro I recognize that inspection sticker and registration im from around there to how much would u charge to install that inter cooler on mine aswell i have a 2010 gti
great job. I need you in Massachusetts to do some work on my GTi. Hard to find specialized folks out there
🤣
Hp?
Where can I find hard pipes for my ic preferably turbo outlet side
Do you have a link to the bead pliers you used?
Link in the description.
If I install a intake, exhaust and a blow off valve do I need to install a intercooler as well
Yo I love those rims I’ve been looking to get some but don’t know where to start any suggestions?
Great video, I'm curious why did you go with a custom kit instead of getting a aarm intercooler that just bolts on? also did you remove the original intercooler?
Thanks! The one I installed is more efficient, and I like the aesthetic of it. I did not remove the stock intercooler yet. I'm going to remove it and use a delete kit. I just need to figure if I'm going to get the brackets or custom make them.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds link for intercooler?
@@PeterFeltersnatch852 I just added the link in the description.
Name of the tool minute 19:05 Help me😢😢
Check the video in the description, pipe bead maker
What actual size of your intercooler bro
Ой смешной какой)
slots on the bracket is genius plus they look part of the kit
Awesome, good video, really helpful 👌
I'm happy you got value from this video!
What are the tweezers you occupy called and where did you buy them?
Extremely good video mah G thanks bro appreciate all this helpful content
Much respect fam and thanks for watching!
What is that pincer at 17 minutes?
thank you
The pipe bead maker?
17:09 Pliers,
Love watching your videos.. And if you can mention total cost.. Thumbs up.!
Much respect! Everything was under $500.
You look like you did a good job bro.
this was incredible my dude, great work! LI represent
Much respect! 💪🏾
I have a mk6 gti with charge pipes and intake on stage 2 tune with down pipe as well. I’ve been interested in upgrading to the ko4 or is38 but haven’t made a choice. Do you have any more knowledge or preference between the two?
The ko4 is a good choice to make more power without too much hassle. I doubt the is38 can fit on the MK6, the exhaust manifold is different.
I been helping my son customize a 2012 turbo beetle and wanted to do this but I also was interested in a tune for it what do you recommend as for tuning. It has a BOV and cold air intake installed already along with straight pipe exhaust from behind the cats.
Can the aluminium hold for long? Clean install it is
What aluminum? Much respect
Hey bro question, I’m looking to go with the treadstone tr10 instead of the 8 which is slightly longer. 10 being 10.5" X 22" X 3.5" and the 8 being 7.8" X 22" X 3.5". Now shy of a few tenths it’s 1.5 inches on both sides. Do you think it’ll be much of a clearance issue tbh? Asking you since you’ve done the install.
Already told you about my 500wheel goal I think in your clutch video. Since the 8 is good for 500hp I didn’t wanna risk the typical want for more power and have to get a bigger one so the best one they sell with close enough dimensions is the 10C
Also instead of the lower position inlet and outlet it’s a center.
You'd probably have to cut the entire crash bar, instead of notching it like I did. But yea, you'll definitely have clearance issues to deal with, which you'll have to fabricate. I personally wouldn't want to install a bigger intercooler on this car based on my build.
I'm not a fan of the center piping. The piping lines up better when the openings are at the bottom on the intercooler, in my opinion.
You we're quite thorough I am very impressed good job bro
Yea, I try to add as much details as possible, Much respect👍🏽
Awesome video and well detailed. Thank you
Thanks for acknowledging my work, much respect 💪🏽
WOW!! that boost checks in nicely
💪🏽
Great video. Colbalt drill bits are amazing for cutting into your crash bar.
Thanks for watching. I figured out a technique how to drill through the crash bar, after I broke a couple bits. But none the less, the crash bar is a tough metal. I'll definitely checkout the Cobalt drill bits.
Respeckt!
Did you remove the intercooler from the stock location?
Nah, not yet. I'm planning to make a video showing how to do it.
I see some they just connected the two intercoolers together but I don't know if they are right or not.
intercooler dimensions please?
ur lucky i came back to this video late and can reply to you😂it's the treadstone TR8 intercooler, should be 7.8"x22"x3.5"
My bro 💪🏾💪🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Much respect 👍🏽
what turbo does it have

This mad! It shot bredda.
Respect fam!
Love the videos btw!

Very crafty, well done!
Much respect and thanks for watching!
Mate this is such a good video 🙏
Much respect and thanks for watching!
No gloves when using spinny stuff...plz
I want to see actual data that proves one fmic is more efficient over another in my semi uneducated opinion I don’t think there is much of a difference more so a ploy to get you to buy their product, if it’s a bar and plate design with the aluminum end tanks that come on most all aftermarket intercoolers now than there shouldn’t be much of a difference. The piping might be something to worry about with quality and density keeping the air flowing through cool to the engine 🤷🏻♂️ maybe wrap them in heat wrap as well along with intake manifold to keep everything as cool as possible, not saying you need to spend $$$ on a name brand intercooler but typically the quality kinda tends to go up when the price goes up NOT in all cases but typically. I purchased an eBay sellers downpipe and yes it was manufactured in china and it li fell apart and caught fire under my GLI lol so sometimes it’s best to pay a bit more and get quality materials! I do love all the detailed explanations though that’s awesome. 👊🏻😎

@@goldenchild22 much respect! For sure.
Just a little help to save you alot of money on drill bits. Use masonry drill bits they cut way better and faster along with lasting much longer. Amazing work you showed here thanks alot now I have the confidence to do my son's turbo beetle for him.
Cool, next time I'll try Mason bits, Much respect. Sounds like a fun project.
Using mationary bits on metal is useless .. That would be like using a Metal bit to try to drill into block....
@@korey420 I thought so to but I have used them and continue to use them with no issues and they cut great
@Matthew Henry I think it would greatly depend on the type of metal as well
@@korey420 I know it works on mild steel and aluminum now I'm not sure on stainless but if you look at the tip of a masonry bit it's just a bigger carbide cutting edge and it cuts surprisingly fast
