I used to play this game to death when it came out. I was twelve back then. I'm thirty now, and I recently bought a second-hand PS2 just so I can play the games I grew up with. The games of today are technically astounding, but they almost don't feel like games anymore. Maybe it's just me being old, but I can't identify with modern games in the way I could identify with my favourite PS2 games. Back then though, there were certain challenges I just couldn't complete. My mind couldn't work fast enough or be patient enough to figure the Pro COMBO challenge on this level. We didn't have UA-cam back then, so it went unsolved. But now that you've pointed me in the right direction, it's FINALLY done. Eighteen years later. I'm being strict with myself. I'm only consulting UA-cam when I'm absolutely desperate and can't figure it out myself. But I'm so grateful that this exists.
I feel the same way. I like modern graphics (like Red Dead Redemption 2) but PS2/Xbox graphics are incredibly nostalgic and comforting. Even games from the PS3/360 era are at the same level for me. The graphics back then didn't need to be photorealistic to evoke feelings, be atmospheric, or tell a story. I think older games/graphics effortlessly had a look to them that you can't reproduce in modern gaming. Just like the first Red Dead Redemption. It had a certain charm with its style that the sequel couldn't replicate. Another example is Resident Evil 4. The remake looks amazing, but I can't help but prefer the original.
The food rides challenge has stuck in my brain forever the only reason im here is because I kept remembering the soda for color thing and how hilarious that was.
A ton of people on the internet say some of the Kona missions are the hardest. The snake slalom was hard, but I would say there are like 5 or 6 missions in this level that are harder.
Buy it/download a copy of it for PC. Don't play on an emulator. An average PC setup nowadays can make this game look this good, just play on Very High, enable High Quality Shadows & disable Fog Distance. An average setup can EASILY handle these settings without any issues. Unlike in 2003, with the pc tech that was out, with those settings lol

hey i got similiar story, but i almost beated all game back then, but i lacked 100% gaps
I don't know if I'm getting old as well or if it is the nostalgia, but I know the feeling.

Nailing a 900 on the rocket ride is in my opinion the hardest mission in this game
Snake salom
