2nd leg was my GrandPa... thanx for this wonderful visual. i wish i had seen this when i ran track. i probably wouldn't have been satisfied with just making it to state..
yeah Nephew crazy that this wasn't his event. He made the team as a long jumper. He finished 4th and was on the rellay team as a replacement. they were awarded their medals on the boat ride home.
Lorenzo Wright, the Wayne State All-American was your grandfather? Wow. He was a great athlete. Have you ever felt the need to run a workout at the field named after him in Detroit? I'm sure you know that earlier that same year, Wright leapt 25-11 -- a PB that would have won gold at the Olympics. He was that good. If you made states in MI, you must be pretty good. (I was a long time sprints and throws coach.)

Moments from the past can inspire youths of today. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful film quality.
yes...love the commentary and the info. gives context to this great history
Always great to see any sports in color back in the black and white days.
London 48 videos are the best.
really old school commentary!! nice
I have the same stadium, with gravel track
you know what was the time of the event
40.6, I think.
The disqualification should have stood. Americans can't pass the baton in the zone. Americans drop the baton. Etc
Not so the exchange was properly made in the zone!
