Unreal. Jonathan is in a class by himself. If you love guitar music this is a mighty lesson for all guitar enthusiasts. I truly hope you can appreciate what we are trying to bring you
Amazing music and player. And he teaches lessons! He’s super informative and passionate about this stuff, even learning a little of what he’s doing has opened up much more of my playing in seeing different ways around the fretboard.
I think the acoustic archtop "club" is actually larger than many guitar players realize. There are some folks who just don't know what to do with them, but Jonathan's playing as well as his and Norm's comments in these NRG videos are, we may hope, going a long way toward getting people interested in the instrument's unique sound and purpose. I've been an avid Allan Reuss fan since the early '90s, and I can say without hesitation that Jonathan has no peer as a replicator of the nuances in the Reuss style. Glad to hear the shout-outs to other contemporary masters, Matt Munisteri; Nick Rossi and Erik McIntyre. I would add the Hot Club of Cowtown's Whit Smith as another ace in chord soloing, although he's usually plugged in.
Let me say that Jonathan has been a HUGE inspiration, at least as much as when I first heard Eddie Lang and Carl Kress in the late 1990s and made haste to buy a vintage archtop. The joy in his playing is infectious. I'll keep plugging away with my humble L50 and L Jr.
Love it when you have Jonathan Stout on the demos!! I have a similar 1939 Gibson L7. Super guitar, but very trebley. A 1945 Epiphone Emperor I have has a much fuller sound, albeit from a large 18" body.
Thank you Jen....for bringing all this great exclusive talent to us! Thanks Norm for all you do to keep the music coming. Live music at Norm"s the best on the net!!!!
Nice to see this fine musician. Definitely tired of seeing the same old tired exaggerated blues licks nomatter who the artist is. I would gladly pay to see this guy.
He played more chords in 8 bars than I did in the last 6 months, great player.
😂me too
He played more chords in 8 bars than I have since 1995.

Appreciate it Norm, can't live without it! Thankyou for this "Super-treat".

It's always a pleasant surprise when Jonathan comes in...a master of jazz and swing. Pure perfection may it last forever.
This guy is one of the most incredible players I have ever heard. Thank you so much for including him on your Channel
Jonathan is such a humble guy - massively talented but he’s always promoting everyone else- we need more people in the world like him 😊
The L-5 and Super 400 were Gibson's top of the line instruments at the time, the most expensive and built by their top craftsmen. Real works of art.
I can hear it!!
Fun fact, Norm has to disable his fire alarms every time Jonathan picks up an archtop in his shop.
I bet he does 😂 this is straight fire 🔥
Everybody you've ever seen play guitar...EVER... has been playing it wrong. I still dont even know what I just witnessed... unbelievably incredible

I hope there are many other great players out there who can keep this style of music going,
@@johnwilkes681 I sure do, too!
Yes, yes! Big love for the acoustic archtop at That Rhythm Man.

Django Reinhardt would be impressed. Thanks so much for another fabulous musical artist. Cheers

Awesome! I love the old school guitar styles. I will delve more into Mr. Stout.
WOW Norm that L-5 has so much volume and unbelievable tone for its age it's like fine wine and only gets better with age!
Truly wonderful
This is real guitar music! From a phenomenal musician!!
Amazing playing & singing, great inspiration, thanks a lot for posting.👌
What a unique style of playing.

Absolutely astounding!
Wow, his playing just knocked me off my feet. I've been around a lot of great players, but that was special.
Love this stuff. I can envisage laurel and hardy clowning around in the background.
This guy deserves this guitar.

Holy...! 😯
Amazing
What a treat ! Another beautiful guitar sitting in a warehouse for years ?.....Norman, WTF?
As much as it pains me to say- this guitar sounds better than the 1937 D'Angelico you had him play. This is a stunning guitar.
Love it
Impassioned players can't wait to get their hands on your produc,😊t of whom, I am one
In G# Sharp? Insane Talent........
Jonathan Stout!
What Gauge of strings did this guitar have strung on it? I play Gypsy guitar and they have light strings for a punchy sound.
Slash did some licks in the store around 2 min you can hear him😮
That L5 is so fine
Jon Creamy Stout!
Jon the Don Stout!
He is the man!
Black metal listener here, and this dude stopped me in my tracks. I'm a gipsy jazz fan now, too.
So awsum 👋😎💙
Come to England 👍👍
This guy ain't no lemmo, and that's why I watched today.
Made that guitar feel like it was the 40's again.
If i had three wishes, I would wish for that talent, that guitar and maybe a Pepsi
Joe Robinson is reeeeeaaaaally good too
wish i could play just a little
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
All he needed was the group of backup singers and a stage of dancers…..not! Great music, well done
👍✌❤😎
Nice to see this fine musician. Definitely tired of seeing the same old tired exaggerated blues licks nomatter who the artist is. I would gladly pay to see this guy.
You sure that's Johnathan and not Spiderman impersonator Mark Proksch?
So THAT's how you're supposed to play those things!
Jonathan Stout is like Django Reinhardt but with that one's two disable fingers restored.
⚓️ Thanks Jon 🌈 is your tie hand painted 😁 NRG!!!
I can just hear my dad telling me thst I should be playkng the same guitar and trykng to play the same music.
이건 그냥 공연이네요
Jonathan, please repeat any tune any time, just keep playing.
Rather have Epiphone and vintage Epiphones all day long over Gibson
