Let's pretend you have 20 scenes for OBS Studio. The next step is to create a scene to contain all the sources that will be controlled with hotkeys. These sources are sound effects, animations, and other cool effects. The total number of sources controlled by the hotkeys totals 30. It would be a nightmare to have to recreate all these sources for every scene. Thankfully OBS Studio allows you to embed a scene as a source into a scene. The strategy is to isolate the sources controlled by your hotkeys and assign that scene to all your other scenes.
Learning how to use OBS Studio in this way will turn your live streams into a more interactive experience for your visitors. It allows you to react quickly with sound effects when responding to chat. For example, when a visitor comes into chat, and you know them, you can respond with a cool sound effect. If someone shoots you a super chat, you can create a killer animated green screen effect that makes them feel good.
What will end up happening is that your creativity will explode, and you'll be creating tons of hotkeys to do amazing things. Unfortunately, you'll run out of space on your keyboard. There is a solution, and that is to buy a second keyboard. This second keyboard will provide tons of new keys for you to use. Learn about how to set that up here.

Great video Scott, i like how simple you make things and one thing you do well is zooming in on the screen and enlarging or circling other areas that is kindof hard to see otherwise. Many others do not put in the extra effort in that sense.

Now if it is not too much, may I ask what’s your opinion of having a stock trading channel using a green screen for the webcam with me overlayed the stock charts instead of the typical webcam box over the stock chart? I make iRacing videos and when I went to the Blimp view (when editing) I put 'advertiser logos' in manually.
Now I have a scene with those logos and during my replay recording when I shift to Blimp; a hotkey and BOOM, there they are!
No need to mess with them in post production.

I chose some hotkeys I wanted to use for a scene with its sources I had added but I made a second new scene except with different sources and I'd like to use the same hotkeys but it wont let me because I already am using them for my first scene... is that fixable without deleting them?

can you help me with the hotkeys? when i bind the keys to recording, it says that the configured path is invalid and to check settings to comfirm that a valid path file has been set. and if i check and it is valid and i applied it, it still doesnt work!
After setting up some Hot Keys, I can no longer scale fit the screen for a presentation slide . I can manually drag however I can’t get intro wacky the entire screen

you can also add the hotkey in the name of the source to help identify it at least until you memorized it
I don't think that is possible BUT I will be working on a SUPER COOL video that will allow you to create digital buttons that will allow you do what you are asking. You won't have to memorize anything. Make sure to subscribe and bell so you get the notification when that video goes live.

So have you tried assigning the hotkeys to 1 key?
Meaning if you had a keyboard with custom macro programmable keys, could you use that with this?
Ex: custom keyboard key “G1” has been programmed to really “Ctr +Shift+F1” so when in OBS if you press “G1” it registers as “Ctr+Shift+F1”?

@@ScottFichterPlease make one using OBS. I have tried to display an image while recording excel I didn't succeed. For example I wanted my viewers to see the symbol of CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER and also to highlight the way you were highlighting it didn't work. So what is the trick?
@@SolomonKinyanjui_sk All you have to do is setup a text source for the scene. It's called "TEXT (GDI +)" Then turn it off and on at will by clicking the eyeball.

So I did the music shortcut but I can't find where the music is outputting the sound. I'm not sure how to fix it.
Can you see the volume levels moving when you press the key assigned to the sound?

@@bigmajstudios409 Click the little cog (the gear) next to that audio track, then select "Advanced Audio Properties" then look for the sound track and select "Monitor and Output" OBS assumes you don't want to hear new tracks that are setup. It's a PITA but that's just how it is. Let me know if this allows you to hear the sound?

Ok one question, I made an ending scene with a song long 1.40 min and I want to make scene trigger for that ending scene in which would played song after reaching it's end turn the stream off. Ok so I tested few things about triggers and I found that I have to put trigger when the scene is active, otherwise it wont work. There is also a time duration in which I wanted to make as same as song duration, but there is a problem. OBS won't allow me to go above 99.00 sec and I can't change sec to min. I don't know how to solve this problem? Right now with these settings my stream would end in the middle of the song.
Levi, what bugs me is the 99 sec limitation. That's strange. I suggest heading over to the OBS Studio forums and posing the question there along with a copy of your log file. Someone will pin it down for ya.
@@ScottFichter It's fine I managed to make it the other way...I made an empty scene after ending scene and named it currently offline and I put a trigger on ending scene when the ending scene is switched away to make stream go offline in 00.00 sec .
Tip hv a new profile called hotkeys and add your scenes use the settings to set the pofile sorces shortcuts to the keys numbpads are better but your choice

Install VLC on to your computer. OBS will instantly recognize it and give you a new source called the "VLC Video Source" This will allow you to play multiple mp3s

Is there a way of setting up subscribe pop up automatically say every 30 mins
Use the Image slideshow source. Make two transparent pngs at 1920 by 1080 tall (1080p). One png has nothing in it the other has the sub button in it and increase the "Time Between Slides" to 1,800,000 (30 minutes). Done.
I switched from Streamlabs OBS to OBS Studio because of how much CPU usage SLOBS takes, but now whenever I try setting up a "Show" hotkey to play a short animation on main screen nothing happens. I tried different stuff, nothing works when it comes to that :/

Hey, thank you very much for your videos...Teaching a lot...But I have 1 simple question...Can my camera detect that I'm not in front of the camera...There is no moving...and when that happens to switch to another scene...and when you reappear in front of the camera to switch back to the preview scene...This last with switching again when you come back is not that important for me...More important is the first part..when I'm not in camera sight to switch to another scene not to film my ugly empty room u know? my media source doesn't start with the hotkey, I tried switching scenes with hotkeys, this still works, but my media source, which is a webm file, won't start when I hit the hotkey, I tried different hotkey combinations, nothing worked...
the hotkey works one time, if I go into the global scene and deactive the layer with the eye button, then I can activate the media with the hotkey and it plays one time, but after that I'm back where I started and can't activate it again
