Terminating the contracts of private firms, like ATOS, from conducting assessments would be a start.

I tell you where one of the problems in getting the right amount comes from.
PIP was being awarded at the lowest possible amount for a period because they'd been so heavily criticised for denying people who were PARALYSED any disability points. This gave them a plausible deniability situation if a claimant then tried to get a mandatory reconsideration and then take it to tribunal... they HAD awarded them PIP, technically. This has also given them a solid base of people they can say were awarded PIP unnecessarily, so on paper it looks like they're 'clearly' overestimating not underestimating.
I was given the very basic amount during that period. I noticed that in my previous two assessments they asked me in regards to the severity of my disability "how does it affect you on a good day?" "How does it affect you on a regular day?" and I got nothing, that time they asked "how does it affect you on a bad day?"... now I've been reassessed and the question returned to "how does it affect you on an average day?". The disability they gave me points for is one that affects me severely 30% of the time, not so severely 30% of the time, and I'm autistic too so very literal when asked questions in a stressful situation like being assessed for disability. When asked how does it affect you on an average day, I average 30% severe, 30% uncomfortable, 40% fine, and say it makes me uncomfortable.
Now let me put it in different terms: if I need something like a wheelchair 30% of the time, that means I need ACCESS to a wheelchair 100% of the time. See how that's not about my average day? My disability is defined by my worst days.
If I'm investigated and seen hiking with a weighted rucksack (which is something I love doing, and helps keep me from getting worse over time) after I've lied by saying my average day is being unable to even stand, I'm expecting to go to court for benefits fraud! So, I tell them the autistically literal "it makes me uncomfortable on an average day".

I proved the DWP and the assessor I had for PIP lied by having to go to tribunal level.

Yeah I'm with ya. It took them 8.5 months to do my assessment then took them 11 days to reject my application. In their response they made no less than 14 references to my medical records which left me at a total loss as to how they could say what they had. I contacted the hospital who took the time to speak to every staff member in case information had been given over the phone ( not that it should be but still) as there was nothing on any of my digital or paper records. Turned out that DWP and the assessor had never contacted the hospital, my GP or anyone else who could provide medical records or any other information.
I did a bit of research and found something called 'Administrative Malfeasance',. Which would allow me to bring a suit against not just DWP but individual civil servants who had made false statements, had denied me relief by, intentionally and with knowledge of falsehood committed acts of fraud. I wrote back to them along with a FOI compelling them to provide information to identify those involved along with all data to assist me in compiling legal cases ahead of further action against DWP, ATOS & the civil servants themselves.
Shock horror. When called out, exposed and their actual crimes presented to them. Suddenly there was a change of heart and they realised they would award PIP.

Been for PIP assessments and they are horrendous, when I get the form it worries the hell out of me, I cry in panic because I know what ever I put down about my health problems and disabilities that the dreaded assessment will come. I try to hold it together and have my partner come with me because the added stress sets off my seizures so even more panic just gets to the point I can't get words out and know that the assessor is not putting down what I say. I've caught them out so many times when receiving the letter back then having to go through M.R again. Luckily always been awarded and nvr gone to tribunal. Something needs to change and fast

don't give up my friend. i got 0 points appealed and got 15! FULL POINTS! my advice is this (and i have over 20 years experience) - always answer questions as if you are on your WORST day. do not say SOMETIMES! that could mean 1 time a month! so if you cant walk most days say 6 out of 7. NOT sometimes or mostly etc. If doing something hurts you BY LAW THAT MEANS YOU CANNOT DO IT! If something hurts to repeat/do to a good standard you CANNOT DO IT!! thats the law ill copy/paste it here for you. - in their words - To be assessed as able to carry out an activity to the level described in a descriptor, a claimant must satisfy the descriptor “reliably”, that is: safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly and in reasonable time. and also not be caused pain. - LAW - pipinfo.net/issues/reliably

I had my disability or P. I. Pa's it is now known in April. Of this year I asked for mandatory review and the DWP upheld their dicision, I am now going to Tribunal. I may have to wait 2 years to get to court, I can't qualify for other benefits.
My illness is congenital ie. From birth. I just do not know what to do in the meantime I can't pay my bills on time or my bank refuses payment as their is never enough in my account, I have also had to stop using my car as I cannot afford to pay for my insurance etc. They way the DWP treats me and others in my possision. I can't qualify for universal credit as I have been deemed unfit for work.
I'm just absolutely lost and worried sick.
The system is massively stacked against us and under the autumn budget only serves to make matters worse

I was told that me having a panic attack hyperventilating and crying made the assessor fear for there safety and that I was being aggressive!? And these people are allowed to judge people with disabilities? No. Not acceptable. I was with someone who worked full time and he couldn’t believe the way I was being treated, I was too scared to talk back for fear of being reprimanded. Only when you’ve been in for an assessment will you understand the way they treat people

I do feel that the recording should be removed once it’s been checked, or dealt with accordingly if it’s a complaint. That people should have a number as a reference and not there name/dob as so to keep identity’s safe. That those who cause undue stress and negative impacts on a claimant are handled in an appropriate way and that the law supports this. I feel this would stop a lot of the false information being used when assessing these people

Other than political or logistical legislation, encompassed with common sense, the majority of false claimants would be advocated,
Like the majority of services, you’ll find a minority of individuals who will perpetuate the system, no matter how naïve.
If you’re flaunting a blue badge, or you’re council waller, they need turfing out, we have enough problems with these people of little regard,
Don’t implement human rights, for individuals who flaunt the system, which enables people of a genuine ailment.
