Rudy and Janell both had such good attitudes about this, personally the whole on x build challenge left a bad taste for me from the very beginning but seeing these two with such a positive take on it helps me not feel so bad for them but i still think it wasn't set up well or really very fair at all. From build cost, to fab ability and more importantly the resources available to certain people. Maybe if on x does it again they will do better but unless they did some serious learning from this epic fail i don't see it being a thing.
Yeah, you said it pretty well, I was a little disappointed in this series and it really had nothing to do with Rudy and Janell, matter-of-fact thanks to Janell stepping up to the plate she's awesome. Anyway, totally understand why the other half of the team dropped out, but still I'm not sure they were 100% into the build and challenge when everybody was doing good. Perhaps I missed the video where all that was explained, the colab itself was the failure, I guess not any one individual. And I'm sorry I don't mean to be a jerk; I know there are other forces at work during that whole timeframe for things not to work out. And not that what I say means much, but I am happy Rudy and Janell were able to get through this even if as a learning experience, you two came together and gave it your best shot with all the odds against you! You two are winners for finishing the course even if you had to bow-out of the one challenge.
Rudy and Janelle relationship is a joy to watch, impressed with her willingness jump-in, support Rudy, pull off a drive line. Enjoy your video clips, keep them coming.
That's a bummer dude. I still think the Rad Charger is great. I hope you return it to the glory it deserves and maybe not take it on buggy trails! Janell is Awesome!
Super bummed at the planning they did on these trails. They knew for a long period of time that you had a full size vehicle and yet they send you up these. Plus the one hand challenge was dumb and based upon the ending set you up for a problem that shouldn't have existed since you built it well enough it wouldn't have failed. I get they want some drama for the show, but you were on the back foot from the start. Love the RAD Charger though. Can't wait to see it doing more in the future.
I rooted for Rudy and Janelle, but congrats to Colt and Matt for winning. The OnX challenge was lame and the only thing I liked about it was the contestants. I echo everyone on here in saying that Janelle is a keeper 😊
The challenge itself was lame. The build videos were great from all three teams. Personally, I liked each teams’ approach and it was interested seeing their decisions and how they played out on the trail.
After watching their series there was bias against y’all the whole time. The host was a bit of a JOKE to say the least. Props to y’all for trying to be positive. They should just tell the teams to build a buggy next time. I loved your build series but I was disappointed in what their series turned out to be.
Nice Rudy... I think it's the first time I've heard you compliment Janell. She deserves more compliments for her hard work. The rock crawling was gnarly. Nice job with that big beast.
My sentiments exactly. Rudy and Janell have nothing to be ashamed of for their 1st complete build competition. Those vehicles were definitely the wrong ones used on the Montrose trails. Not cool OnX...
The challenges were not a fail just because Rudy wasn't cut out for it. Y'all are some participation trophy kinda people. The other teams didn't struggle. Rudy just totally missed the mark on his build.
@@mvirocKoRnthe ultimate adventure is about wheeling and driving, not about how fast you can set up camp, if you can replace a shock with one hand, etc. The challenges should have been more oriented to actual event related stuff, not games. Rudy built a wheeler, not a gameshow contestant.

This review format was awesome. Having Janelle as a teammate/partner/gf makes it that much better. You two make great content and I look forward to what’s next!
I would suggest OnX, in the future, do more of a enduro like challenge where the drivers have to navigate to find check points. They should highlight how their app helps keep drivers off unsuitable trails for certain vehicle types. The "field repair" tests were as stupid as Top Gear was, building a car body from bricks. Taking vehicles where they don't fit was the ultimate fail for OnX.
Remember in the movie " Kelly's Heroes " at the end where Oddball buys the German Tank and his mechanic Moriarty kept saying, " It's a piece of junk "referring to it ? Every time I see the Radcharger I can hear Moriarty saying the same about it. Stick with the Rudicon or build you a Buggy.
The RADcharger put on quite a show. This build has been an uphill climb from the get-go. Under the circumstances I think you smashed it. Put it in places it was never intended to go. And came out on top. It is its own trophy. Display it proudly.
Rudy, you and Janell did a great job on the Radcharger. That trail was extremely difficult, especially for an untested Rig. You make a great team, such positive attitudes Thanks for the great video
Rudy you have far more patiance then most and i commend you on it. The issues you have seen and experienced with the RAD charger are problems you will fix in no time. Take Janelle and your self out camping for a few days to unwind and relax . You both have earned it
I'm a Ramcharger fan, so I was saddened by your hard luck. They say that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to off road vehicles. I actually had an 87 Ramcharger that I bought brand new, so I was really rooting for you guys. With todays technology, I think an awesome upgrade would be an approach camera to help with the lack of front visibility. I think Jefe's Bronco has one. That should help with Janelle's phobia.
Going with a full-size rig was a bold move. Loved it though. It's great to see people take big swings even if it fails. Can't wait to see the RADChargers actually finished. I was a bit disappointed in OnX's challenges. They were a arbitrary but I guess that looks better for the camera. All of the behind the scene stuff was way more interesting. Hopefully we'll see a lot more RADCharger in the future.
Very nice follow up on the build challenge. I thought the RAD Charger did awesome! That is a huge rig to be out there doing what they had you doing. I have said in others video's, competing against friends is tough, however from what I've seen in the off road world from all the channels I follow you guys are always there for eavh other. Lending a helping hand rather it be spotting, repairs or whatever.......y'all are there. It will be awesome to see the RAD Charger back out on the trails in future videos. Great job Rudy and Janelle. You both did a fantastic job.
In hindsight, it sounds like had you not had to rush to finish the build and overlooked those unfinished welds, you probably would've done A LOT better! I agree about avoiding trails that damage every vehicle. That's just ego shit there!
That last trail was rough. I watched it on onx channel. You did extremely well considering your age and the experience of the competitors. Not a dang thing to ashamed of. You built an awesome rig and wheeled it great.
And that is why everything, every box, every part, every tool, everything is strapped down to the floor inside the rear of the Explorer. If my hatch fell open there may be a few empty cans fall out. But it was a pleasure to watch and I'd have had fun with that trip! You two did great.
This competition was stupid. Having you drive through buggy trails was a dick move. They wanted to see carnage/damage. Not to mention the challenges were pointless.
Excellent job, other than tearing up the rig, looked like you both had a great time. You found the weak points, and it's time to fix them up and hit the trails again.
I've been waiting for this video 2 c how our dynamic duo would respond..... I think it took a little while to get through the bummer feeling of the whole thing before they were ready to get in front of the camera. And I see they reconstituted very nicely!!!!! I also want to commend you guys for your choice of area for taking the video !!!! The camera setup you don't have to mess with that you can sit in your camp chairs and relax and tell your story !!! Although you did not specifically cover anything learned from the whole challenge, possibly with the exception of the twisted tubes, I certainly hope that you learned something from this, I don't see how it would be possible not to. I think at the point where Rudy put it in neutral and dropped the hammer, would certainly be a learning point as far as controlling your emotions and not reacting to them. And so it cost you !! I'm not saying I don't blame you and I could certainly feel it in my own self just watching the videos. But being in control isky out there because it makes the difference of driving home or not. The fuel system is no one's fault per-say perhaps the manufacturer !?!?? I have seen so many videos on UA-cam where those type of systems fail. I have seen comments that blame the installer, but based on the amount of videos I have seen obviously there is a problem beyond the insttaller ! I do not pretend to understand those systems. I've had carburetors most of my life until recently and it is injection from the factory... No issues. But it's also a diesel, if that means anyting !?!!. I am no stranger to the Ram Chargers, and Rudy nailed it when you said it's like a bus it is Big especially for an THAT TYPE of off-roading. It was never designed for it and as much as I love the back windows, they are a weak point For that TYPE of Off roading. Between the back windows & the hatch, it allows a lot of twisting motion with in the body and allows the hatch to pop open. It was originally built to be a inclement weather family vehicle and off-road rig for family outings. But I am extremely confident that Rudi will have it up and running and repaired and I personally hope that him and Janelle both take the time to go out in it on a " challenge" of their own 👍🏽😀😋!!! They TRULY deserve it !!! I'm very impressed with Rudy's build and Janelle's work on it because they were up against a lot of seasoned veterans who had many builds many off-roading experiences, and they did very very well 👍🏽👍🏽 2 thumbs up to BOTH OF YOU !!!!
LOVED seeing these two wearing seatbelts! Many others doing similar type of offroading videos are NOT wearing seatbelts. Happy these two are setting a good example!
@ashleywright1991 Yes, that was tragic and one of the times where being thrown out was ideal. There's been times where stuck seatbelts have impeded escape when a vehicle is burning and resulted in serious injury or death. Sometimes not wearing a seatbelt allows a person to be thrown out but into the path of the rolling vehicle where the person then gets crushed. I think, however, the consensus is still that seatbelts save more lives than they take.
I appreciate your candidness Rudy. Those trails appear to be "designed" to trash a rig. Poor choices on the planners part. It's too bad the Rad Charger took so much damage but no one can you didn't try!
You two are getting better every video. Looking forward to the hemi going in the RadCharger. That thing is just as cool as the Morvair in my book. Build it strong
I felt bad for Janell on the drive shaft and shock challenges. However, Rudy and Janell you guys had a great attitude regardless. Can't wait until you fix the RadCharger and take it out wheeling. Love your channel.
I thought the event was kinda silly, like lets swap your shocks with one hand.... who needs to do that? Pull your driveshaft for no reason... set up camp blind folded... who doesnt have flash lights and laterns? none of that had anything to with the rigs, none of it was really who could make an obstacle or not.... and honestly i think you built the RADest rig in the competition.... also i wouldve gave you extra points for the yard sale after scratch and dent.... keep up the good work you two...
Rudy and Janelle, you both have heart. That's what shows out of all this, You two are a golden set. Highly enjoy the channel ! Keep em coming. Me and mine aren't going anywhere!
I think "Overlander" is perfect for the RAD Charger. I was very annoyed with the trails and "challenges" chosen by OnX. The whole "tie one hand behind the back thing" was nonsensical and frankly, stupid. I would very much like to see your rig repaired and out on appropriate trails. Btw, your backdrop for this vid was absolutely beautiful!
Your attitudes made this series a win. Rudy you are just easy to watch. Janelle coming through at the last second to help was awesome. She did great. If not for the 3 teams competing in this being just good humans this series wouldn't have been as good as it was. The Radcharger did significantly better than I thought it would given how big it was on those trails. Next year if invited back you maybe go 90's Grand Cherokee with a V8 to keep the size down.
Almost fell out of my chair when I saw Rudy attempting to wipe the windshield w/ a broken wiper blade. Remember, Rudy, that we are the smart monkeys, because we know how to use tools to accomplish our tasks. A big congrats to both of you for surviving the Challenge, even if the RadCharger didn't.
It was a gorgeous build. A shame it was thrashed and destroyed on purpose. As this challenge was simply designed to do just that. Can't see it done without a custom buggy with 4WS.
I feel bad for all of you, Rudy & Janell. I am not a fan of being set up to fail. And from the beginning this was headed for failure. I am however, grateful that you chose to positive attitude to rebuild the RADCharger for future "FUN" adventures. I look forward to seeing you two out there somewhere. Burning man would have been a perfect challenge this year! Keep up the good work. Build up your channel and your resources to keep on truckin'! and having fun!
I think wheeling" is getting to a point where if you run a full sized rig you are limited as to where you can go and not completely trash your rig. I now have 2 rigs just for that reason. I love my full size Chevy 3500 but a few years back bought a Jeep (and love it too) just to get into trails I cant with my big rig. You guys sent it and deserve some kudos for that alone. Through all the set backs you made the challenge and conquered all...
You did great, I have be3n offroading a 79 ford Bronco with its original 400m engine. I do not get into rock crawling areas, because of the carnage though I have busted my rear leafs twice from jumping it. You two did great, your lady deserves great praise it is so hard to find a woman who wants to rough it off-roading most I have met figure Motel 6 as the worst they want to have it.
I really hope you keep the RadCharger and repair and modify it to be a little more trial friendly. I look forward to seeing how the RadCharger evolves over time.
We loved the series and the challenges and hopefully there can be more things kind of like it. Lots of fun seeing all of you come together. The Rad Charger is so rad... Really hoping you guys still do fun things with it!!
I applaud your efforts! I tried watching the series on On X's channel, but I couldn't stand the Dollar Store Guy Fieri host. Especially after the staged shock challenge, I was out. I hope you two came away with some fun memories, even if the overall experience wasn't that desirable. ❤
I accidentally clicked a big tire garage video once and learned who the dollar store host was. I never even tried to watch on the on x channel knowing who hosted it. They could have done so much better than something like they did. I think it was all rigged from the beginning
Don’t be down about the damage, there’s a Pull-a-Part for every bad day. Fix it and do it again, better, safer and more prepared. Professional grade. RAD means something.
It seems to me that not all routes were suitable for all size vehicles. Maybe some of the trails were suitable for a side by side, buggy or a golden nugget.
Sounds like OnX missed an opportunity to provide a positive experience to a group of respected off road enthusiasts. Better luck next time. Always fun to watch Rudy Janell overcome adversity calmly.
You still did an awesome job! Happy for you both! To have the biggest vehicle and to put that vehicle where it shouldn’t have been, that’s off roading!
I love the Radcharger and it's paint job it's still a beast even with the problems. I know you will get them all sorted out and make it badder than ever. It makes me miss my 84 Ramcharger that I had from 1996 until 2003 when the ex-wife got it in the divorce. I used to go off roading in Lake Havasu and though it wasn't much to look at it never let me down it even showed some highly modified Jeeps how to climb in low range when they would be struggling on some obstacles my Ramcharger would just creep right along. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Radcharger.
I think the minute Hollie had to back out and the out teams guy backed out, the competition was over. OnX screwed both teams from the beginning. They already picked who was going to win. Keep doing what you are doing. We will keep watching.
Love your Ramcharger! Love the heart you two put into the build! Personally, I didn't enjoy this particular "challenge" and didn't follow it. As soon as I saw unnecessary trail "repairs", I tapped out. I hope Robbie Layton and your RADCharger meet soon!! 😊
I've never thought Rudy was particularly bashful about taking on obstacles... also being a supremely sincere character, I know he's underselling it when he expresses some mild displeasure at the challenges presented.
You two did fantastic, you had the least amount of time to finish the Radcharger and still drove out, with some work you'll get it back on the trail, 👍
Watching you build this has made me start back on my 78 PowerWagon, similar to the RAM chargers. Thank you for the tips and tricks on how to build a solid rig. You rock
Great video Rudy!! You two had yourselves quite the trail challenge!! Sorry about the damage to your RadCharger!! I still say you had, by far, the coolest looking rig there!!!

The wiper at the end... THE BEST! Lol 😂😅
Wow! Its amazing how far you made it in something that big! Excellent work! You 2 are awesome!
Very cool what you're doing there. Looking forward to the next video💪💪👍👍
Considering the amount of work you had to do Solo on the Rad Charger you did awesome in the event and if they do another you will smash it
Rudy and Janelle, you both have heart.
Ah, the joys of wheeling a full-size rig. Great job Rudy. As someone who prefers full-size trucks, I was pulling for ya.
Congratulations Rudy is that a ring I see on that girl's hand. 🤪 You sound just like ur dad💙
You need a full size challenge. More reasonable trail selection too. It's not a buggy challenge.
For next year I’m actually thinking a mini Cooper chopped in half with a truck bed with a five cylinder diesel
If nothing else, you have a good vehicle to take to the "full size invasion" next year.
Rudy & Janell great vid , that challenge was a CHALLENGE!!! ✌️❤
If nothing else, the RadCharger was the best looking rig by far. Having Janelle ride shotgun was the icing on the pretty cake.
Getting to that point? It’s always been like that!
I really like the RADcharger. The paint is amazing! Hope you get it fixed soon as you can.
I really hope you keep the RadCharger and repair and modify it to be a little more trial friendly. I look forward to seeing how the RadCharger evolves over time.
You guys built a cool rig, and I love the paint scheme. Glad you got to be part of the challenge.
We loved the series and the challenges and hopefully there can be more things kind of like it. Lots of fun seeing all of you come together. The Rad Charger is so rad... Really hoping you guys still do fun things with it!!
Hopefully Robby can have a look at the worst of the scratches and dents for you ?
LoL. Rudy can't afford Robbie. He'll be fixing it himself.
You two did an awesome job 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 it’s sad that a company makes an app for off-roading but doesn’t know a thing about off-roading
The Golden Nugget wouldn't do well on any of those trails. It's compact, but underpowered. It's a showpiece, not a robust off-road rig.
Sounds like OnX missed an opportunity to provide a positive experience to a group of respected off road enthusiasts. Better luck next time. Always fun to watch Rudy Janell overcome adversity calmly.
Janelle rocked the whole OnX challenge. 😊 every part of it.
Ok...the paint is Rad, great job! The sun makes it amazing.
*Awesome guy, love his videos, great inspiration just gets better* 🔥💚
You still did an awesome job! Happy for you both! To have the biggest vehicle and to put that vehicle where it shouldn’t have been, that’s off roading!
Mike from trail mater team was rigth!
He put his chips in that rig, and he won!🎉
Love the rig and team you built. You are my choice as winner hands down!
I’m so proud of you guys and I am super excited to see more Janelle in these videos!! 😀🎉
You two did well. Too bad the passage was so narrow. Keep up the good work.
Mr Rudy yall did great. You built an awesome rig. Im an old school guy big tires little wheels. You should be proud of what you created.
Yours was my favorite build of the 3, that thing turned out so cool
Can’t wait to see the RadCharger back on the trails. It’s an amazing build for the amount of time you had to build it.
Watching you build this has made me start back on my 78 PowerWagon, similar to the RAM chargers. Thank you for the tips and tricks on how to build a solid rig. You rock
Good job guys let's get that radcharger home to Sand hollow and play 💪
You made it closer then a lot of people would have, great job!!!! Keep up the great show
Great video Rudy!! You two had yourselves quite the trail challenge!! Sorry about the damage to your RadCharger!! I still say you had, by far, the coolest looking rig there!!!
Good job to the two of you. It would have been much easier if you had the resources to dedicate all of your time to this build start to finish.
